Was able to snag a last minute table for a Valentine's date with my girlfriend, we've always seen this place so figured we'd give it a try. Service: This was the downfall for me. The server was friendly and attentive, but throughout the whole night we felt a little rushed. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since it was Valentine's. Server swept up wine menus before we ordered, he took our sides before we finished them and didn't even offer to box them up (which we had barely touched), and was insistent to take our order as soon as we got there. However, Shaun/Shawn the manager there was awesome. He took the time to help me find a wine to pair with my wagyu and my girlfriend's fish. He even let us sample a couple to see which we liked most. Food: This is where they truly redeemed themselves. I ordered the Wagyu NY Strip my girlfriend order the King Salmon dish with lobster gnocchi. This was honestly one of the best steaks I have ever had. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the extra fat from the wagyu basically cooked into the meat and tasted like butter! We also had the house salad which was tasty, side of mashed potatoes/roasted Brussels sprouts which were good. Then had the 10 layer carrot cake which was awesome! Overall: I highly recommend ordering the wagyu, the type of steak really sets itself apart. Their food is great and I will give them the benefit of the doubt and blame the craziness of the holiday for the less than great service. Very disappointed in the experience especially for it to be our first time. First you could tell our server didn't want to serve us we would ask questions ask for recommendations and he would literally just look at us it was extremely awkward. Me being a server I know why he was acting like that but I won't say why just you should treat ALL of your tables the same. He didn't introduce himself didn't tell us if they had a featured item of the month NOTHING. One person in our party was vegan when we asked for different vegan options he just shut him down and said they had nothing. So my guest just came up with something on his own, once again me being a server I would've went above and beyond if I didn't know something I would go to my chef and ask just to make sure everyone is taken care of. Then it was my brothers 30th birthday they asked about if we was celebrating anything just to not even acknowledge it. When we asked if they did anything for birthdays he said no and gave us our checks but after going through google and Yelp reviews I know that's a lie. Great lunch place with excellent service. The restaurant is inside of a hotel. Sometimes I tihnk restaurants inside a hotel are just decent and overpriced. Ocean Prime was great and reasonably priced for what you're getting. My husband and I both ordered the lavendar soda (even though I don't drink it) and it was delicious. We ordered the goat cheese ravioli as our appetizer and it was packed with flavor; I think the shiitake mushroom added a nice touch. My husband ordered the rib-eye steak and I ordered the ahi tuna salad. We both enjoyed our lunch. I wished we had the appetite for a dessert so unfortunately we couldn't try anything. And I grade on a curve based on how busy a place is and how pleasant the people are. This was a Friday night. 6:30. They were surprisingly empty. My friend and I walked in without reservations (we called to see how busy they were) and we could have sat in the dining room or the tables in the bar. We chose the bar. The piano player started shortly after we arrived and he was very good. Good playlist. The bar area was not 50% full and it took almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. Drinks ordered and she disappeared. 5 minutes, menus arrived. Another 10 minutes drinks arrived. We ordered. I ordered the scallops and my buddy ordered the red fish. I've dined here years ago and even threw a few events on the patio but our last experience was horrible. Normally I'd try and solve any issues while at the restaurant but as absent as our waitress was, as was the manager. I mean nonexistent. I am in the restaurant industry and was dining with a manager of another well known steak house- I state this as we are usually pretty forgiving for an off night but this was a whole other bag of worms. We were excited to try Ocean Prime for Restaurant Week and support North Texas Food Bank but that was about the only upside of our visit that I can name. Orders were brought out wrong which took over 10 minutes (we timed it) to flag down a server since we had no idea where ours disappeared to. We repeatedly waved at other servers who downright ignored us, so much so it was comical. I would have given 2 stars as my food was decent but the same cannot be said for my companions. The temperature was off, steaks were not cooked as ordered and to top it off, my friend ended up with food poisoning the next day. She had a manager contact her and the conversation was filled with excuses and no clear resolution except come back in and spend another couple of hundred dollars and we'll try and do better. No thanks. There are too many amazing fine dining restaurants in Dallas to waste your hard earned money on terrible service, mediocre food and food poisoning with lackluster customer service. Save yourself and pick any other place. Uptown has a number a stones throw away. read more

Last year on our honeymoon we went to Ocean Prime in Naples and it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. For our anniversary we went to Ocean Prime Dallas and it was very disappointing. We first were grated with champagne which was very nice. We then had to watch as a gentleman wearing a snap back backwards walked past us with his pants sagging halfway down his butt showing his plaid boxers, a view neither me nor my wife did not need to see. We ordered the ribeye medium rare, and it was cooked medium rare, but was so charred that it masked any flavor the steak had. It was at this point I excused myself to go talk with the manager away from my wife. The manager was apologetic when I voiced my displeasure. That would have been fine, however I specifically noted I excused myself because I didn't want to make a scene in front of my wife or at the table. The manager then comes over to the table and apologizes to my wife which is exactly what i told her not to do. The service was nice and Vlad was great, but it was overall a very disappointing dinner and not at all how we wanted to spend our first anniversary. read more

I have no complaints about the service, service is great. We started off with the sea food tower which comes with shrimps, lobster, crab and oysters. I believe this was the best part of our meal. Next I order sushi and crab cakes; I thought the sushi would be amazing but it was just okay. My friends ordered the ribeye steak, 6oz filet mignon, and the red fish. I could get super nitpicky, but this place totally deserves 5 stars. They put so much care into making each component of the meal, from the lobster bisque to the risotto and the warm bread at the beginning, everything I ate was near perfect. I recommend the goat cheese ravioli, the pasta just melts in your mouth then there's this tart creamy explosion of flavor that rocks your world, then the mushroom broth levels it out to balance just right. The scallops and risotto were incredible and well paired. The trout was meaty and flavorful, mixed well with the mashed potatoes. All in all the only thing that I would critique was the amount of actual lobster meat in the bisque. For $13 I would expect a tad more, but I do respect and love all that went into making that incredible broth. We will be back. Gadi was our waiter and if the food sucked i would still give this place 5 stars for his service alone. read more

This was the very 1st time I had ever been to this restaurant. Today was my 1st day at a company in the Rosewood Court. I had an orientation/business meeting with my new boss for lunch. LOVED the food. LOVED our server. What I did not Iove was the appearance of the hostess. She had open toe sandals on at the stand. Which kind of grossed me out. After living in Victory Park for the past 6 years, I finally got around to Ocean Prime for a Christmas dinner with friends. Even though I felt fairly confident this was a good restaurant I checked the Yelp reviews. What confused me were the reviews about the Chilean Sea Bass. I thought based on what I'd read I had about a 50/50 chance of being extremely impressed or extremely disappointed. Unfortunately it was the latter. As with a good number of reviews it was a huge letdown and nowhere near worth the $55 I paid for it. The puréed potatoes were.like a poor version of hospital potatoes because Medical City Heart Hospital has better mashed potatoes than these. The Chilean Bass was overcooked in places and salty in others. If I hadn't eaten all day, the watery bland potatoes and tough. partially salty Bass would've gotten sent back but I wasn't look for a free meal just a good meal worth the price I paid. read more

Came here for Easter brunch with my family. When I called the make the reservation the girl who answered the phone had to put me on hold so that someone else could take the reservation. On the day of Easter I needed to add one more person to our party. I called and, again, was placed on hold until someone who could correctly do a reservation was available. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Our drinks were refilled regularly and he was very pleasant. The food left something to be desired for most of us though. My brother and I both ordered the special surf and turf, which ran about $22 for some lobster and pulled pork on top of a cheddar cake of some kind. The flavors were wonderful but the size was small. There was hardly any food on the plate and I felt completely famished after finishing my meal. My husband ordered the smoked salmon, which was basically a do-it-yourself bagel and schmear with salmon. However, he never received the bagel and the waiter didn't seem to notice that it was missing. My husband commented later that he didn't really read through the menu thoroughly so he wasn't sure if the bagel was included or not, but it was. The staff was nice and the restaurant atmosphere was good but I doubt we'll be returning. read more

Best deviled eggs i've ever eaten and I've eaten a bunch. Beef tartare is very good, crab cake appetizer is also very good but I will say that Water Grill has the best cake. The calamari is wonderful and the oysters were great but they seem way overpriced to me, I would not buy them again. They came with a cocktail sauce and some horseradish but no mignonette sauce or anything fancy. Once again Water Grill has the #1 spot here too. The surf and turf appetizer was flawless although I didn't realize it had potatoes and I'm on a low carb diet, so good we ate some of it anyway. The cocktails here are better than 90% of the cocktail bars in DFW but the price is high. I recommend the cucumber gimlet but tell them to make it like a martini, shaken and strained. Pretzel sticks are life changing, didn't know it could taste that good. The only flaw with the place is the price is very high. The atmosphere is stunning and the servers are very good at their jobs. read more

They got $1 oysters and $10 sushi rolls only on Fridays in the lounge area until 7pm. My guest and I were able to be seated right away in the lounge area and I'm like "OKAY THIS IS CUTE FOR ME!!!!!!" Our waiter took a while to come by. He forgot my drink order and came back around to ask what I would like after asking me literally 2 minutes before. He also never bothered to ask what we were celebrating. Had the grass fed strip special which was in fact one of the best steaks I've ever consumed. The asparagus was so-so but the garlic mashed potatoes were spot on. I sampled a fork full of the teriyaki grilled salmon my friend had. Then another. And one more just to make sure I was in love with it. To say the least, it was equally as delicious as the strip.
