Tried the Tornado Fries because I saw it on Mr. Queen on Netflix. It is one potato cut into a spiral, coated with something, and deep fried. It is like a cross between chips and fries, sprinkled with salt and sugar, served with packets of mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. I think they can be a little more imaginative with the sauces, but it worked. I would have liked to try it with other sauces...maybe bring your sauces? Pretty good. My family & I tried this place today. I ordered Udon Combo which comes with 4pcs of california rolls. My first impression when I received food was that portion was small for the price of 13.99, compared to other places where I've ordered udon from for cheaper and got more. Second, I thought udon broth was on the saltier side, california roll was just alright. And third, service was lackluster. We were looking at their menu for awhile but wasn't really greeted or helped until we were asked if we were ready to order. Ultimately, for my first time trying out this place the experience was somewhat disappointing, & probably wouldn't order from here again. read more

I've been wanting to try their food for some time now but always had other options. This past Sunday my family and I did a late charge up and we ended up eating at the food court. I finally had the chance to grab a seafood noodle from here. It took about 10mins. The lady at the cashier was nice and efficient. I got the spicy seafood udon noodle soup and it was just meh. I was actually hoping for more. There was little udon noodles in a box container of red soup. Very small pieces of chopped up calamari/ purple squid legs, bunch of black mussels (for a non mussel fan, it was undesirable), and a few very tiny shrimp (almost like the Asian dried ones in a pack). A friend referred to me about Oceansnack; that there is a restaurant tucked within the food hall inside the Source Mall and that they serve a fantastic cold noodle dish with seafood and not from the average mool-naengmyun, bibim-naengmyun, or soba. To my disbelief that I have never tried such a meal, I was on a mission. What I ordered: POHANG POKE COLD NOODLE with SQUID - Buckwheat noodle, cucumber, kelp, lettuce, pickled radish, furikake, raw squid - It exists and unbelievably tasty! To describe the taste, it was somewhat closest to Chic Naeng Myun at Yuchun (in Koreatown). There was a bit of redness from the broth, which would be the Korean chili paste, but it wasn't spicy yet sweet. Rather than adding sliced meat, they substituted with lettuce, kelp, and sliced raw squid. Going by the name of the dish, this is a popular food from the eastern coast of Korea. It was a delightful taste. I can see myself coming back during a hot summer day to cool down with this meal. CALI AND CRUNCH ROLL AND SUSHI 8 PIECES - The portion of the rolls were so satisfying. The sushi cuts were thick, and I had to open my mouth wide for the rolls. The cut for salmon nigiri was long. I enjoyed having a variety selection for this meal. The overall presentation was satisfying. For the price (around $16), I thought it was well worth the price. I've paid more or as much in a fancier place, where the quality and quantity were nowhere near here. COVID TIME REVIEW I was really disappointed with the food here. I ordered a combo 1 with grilled fish (grilled red snapper) and received a lightly breaded fish. I thought they had given me the wrong order because I've never received a breaded grilled fish, but when I went up to ask, they said they bread the grilled fish so it doesn't fall apart... They also seemed very defensive when I went up to ask. Apart from that, the fish itself was soggy and didn't taste fresh. The sides (egg roll, shrimp tempura) seem like they are generic frozen bagged foods from costco. I will say they give a good amount of food (a lot of rice), but the food isn't quality. I don't get it. I don't get what this place is supposed to be with their mish-mash menu of vegetable poke bowls, traditional korean dishes and assortment of strange fried snacks. We chose this place over others in the food court because we thought their "poke" bowls would be bit lighter and healthier. That they were, but the whole experience was just strange for me. First of all, their "poke" bowls are really just korean rice bowls with vegetables and sashimi. Although my wife said her uni and fish egg rice bowl was tasty, my Special Wando Sea Veggie Poke bowl was underwhelming at best. It came with very little raw fish so it ended up tasting like a $16 bibimbap with cold clumpy rice. If you're expecting hwe dup bap like the ones you get in Ktown, this is not it. Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that a drink was included with each of our 3 meals. But when I went to pick up our order, the drinks were picked out for us. 2 fermented vinegar drinks and a coconut fizz. Um, maybe I've been out of the loop, but since when are these weird drinks considered universally delicious and popular? The fermented vinegar one was actually not bad, but how about giving customers a few normal drink options if you're gonna include one with the meal? I'm not weird, you're weird. Simple, scrumptious fried foods! Truthfully, my friend and I were just wandering around this shopping center to kill off time when we stumbled on Ocean Snack and saw their advertisement for their "Hot Barz", which is inspired by Korean street food. We wanted to try the bacon hot bar, but they ran out of bacon, so we opted for shrimp! Service was very friendly. My only qualm was that it did take over 10 minutes for our snack to come out. Our fried shrimp balls came in 3 pieces with some slices of pineapple on a skewer atop a bed of fries. The fries were just your standard affair. I've never had this kind of fried food before, so I thought it was going to be like a Korean takoyaki, lol. However, instead of being filled with batter, it's a fried pollack fish ball with some shrimp on top with a crispy breaded outside. My friend and I really enjoyed this. Inside the Source food court up in the 4th floor. This restaurant probably offers the most menu items out of all places; sushi, noodles, pastas, teriyaki bowls (?), and more. I tried the kimchi bacon pasta for the 2nd time and for some reason it was way more soupy than pasta creamy. On my last visit pre-covid19 the pasta was better than expected at a sushi place but this time was a little let down. The portion is not bad. I am rating this store front 1 star because I was in front of the register looking at the menu and had to make a phone call to see what my girlfriend wanted. Meanwhile on the phone, 2 parties had came to order and while the 2 parties in front of me were ordering I went in line and was ready. The Party in front of me were 2 elderly Korean women. I am half korean and understood the cashier say to the 2 elderly korean ladies that they were closed after taking their order. As they finished their transaction, I walked up to place my order and the cashier says they are closed and she won't take my order. How does that make sense? They are so quick to close up shop to deny a customer.. How is it that I was in line but she doesn't want to take my order or even begin with notifying me that they are closed? I will not recommend this store front to anyone I know and will not give them the benefit of the doubt for lack of hospitality in the future. The portions here are massive! My brother and I ordered the kimchi bacon pasta and the volcano cheese kimchi fried rice. Both came in large plastic boxes with easily two meals worth of food in each. Since they both cost about $14, this seemed like a good deal! I really enjoyed the kimchi bacon pasta. The pasta was cooked al dente and came with so much sauce! What set this kimchi bacon pasta apart from other places was that it had large visible chunks of kimchi, bacon and mushrooms in it. read more

Wow! I'm quite surprised with this food joint. Ocean Snack is located in the Source Mall, and features a mix of Korean and Japanese style food. I ordered the #24 Sushi Bento Box and for food court style food, it isn't bad. There's plenty of seating and space located in the food court for your dining pleasure. I can't really say I liked this place too much. On one hand, the Udon I ordered was relatively cheap - around $7. On the other hand, it was probably one of the worst I've had. The noodles were soggy and the soup was really sweat for some reason. They put fried tofu in it, which doesn't sound too bad, but I could eat it because it was so chewy. The only redeeming quality of the place is the good service and complementary filtered water. A lot of places don't even offer the service part, so I'll give this place an extra star. Came here for dinner after work, my boyfriend and I actually went to Quik bowl to try since they recently opened. But, the ads of Cheetos Roll on the screen was too tempting, we had to get the cheetos roll from Ocean Snack. But I got so disappointed, I put away stars. First, I ordered Cheetos rolls, but it was not available at that moment and they didn't clearly explained. That was alright, I mean.. maybe the cheetos ran out? Or they are short on ingreidents..? Idk but that was understandable. So, we ordered Doritos roll instead and were so excited to try it. We looked through the yelp pictures and looked at the screen to have a bit of ideas of what it would look like. And the bell rang, my boyfriend went up to pick up and he walked back to the table with something that is KIND OF looking like Doritos roll. NOTHING like pictures, or ads on the screen. I couldn't resist myself comparing the rolls in front of my eyes and the rolls inside the picture that others have posted. Mine was more like "rolls and doritos chip on the side" when others look like "rolls with perfectly sprinkled with Doritos flakes". I usually have no complaint over food that does not look like the pics on the menu as long as it tastes good. But this roll... the spicy tuna did not taste anything but it was frosty, I guess they just took it out from the fridge; shrimp or spicy crab... the sauce... I don't know, I don't think it's worth $14.99 with this kind of quality. We actually kinda went back to them to fix(?) The roll, but they just smashed Doritos and sprinkled the flakes and green onions, which added nothing to the flavor. Eventually we had to throw away the whole plate and go to Quik bowl. Been here a few times and the food quality isn't the greatest. The rolls are not terrible, but they are definitely not sushi restaurant quality. However, I guess that is to be expected in a food court. The service was slow the last time I came here. They do have more senior people working here, so I couldn't be too irritated. I just have to update my rating and wish I could update to 6 stars! Haven't been since Decemeber and the menu has changed so much! Many more traditional Korean dishes and sushi. The salmon poke bowl was so fresh!! Incredible addition to the menu. I then tried the braised short rib special and WOW. The broth was so delectable and the neat was falling off the bone!!! The vegetable tempura was perfect cooked and very delicious. The cheesy egg ham and kimchi fried rice was spicy and so delicious. At this point in the meal I could barely move but still managed to eat most of it. I would recommend all of these dishes and recommend coming here for delicious Korean food. read more

Simply delicious. When I want something quick and healthy I head straight to Ocean Snack to meet my keto needs. I haven't been there in a while but it seems like they completely changed their menu but for the items I did try I like them. I had their fish dog and pollock soup and they were great and didn't break the bank. Service here was always friendly and never really had any issues other then language barrier. It's a shame they don't offer sandwiches anymore but at least they still have the hot bar. Would go back to try their updated menu. read more

HONESTLY, SOOO GOOD! It seems they've been open for about two months now so I JUST heard about it and had to give it a try. I've always seen people talk about "hot bars" on Korean variety shows and dramas so I was super excited to try these out. And DUDE, am I glad I tried hahaha. I went with five other people so we ordered a LOT: - Hwangtae Haejangkook (Pollack "hangover" soup) - Oyster Seaweed soup - Mixed seaweed bibimbap - Spicy udon And for the "Hot Barz": - Jalapeño - Shrimp crunch - Smoked bacon - Cheesy slice - Cheese onion - Jalapeño squid - Crab - Crunch bites - Red bean (sweet/dessert) Everything was all very good and fresh. I especially enjoyed the Jalapeño, Cheesy slice, and Red bean hot barz the most. They're fried to perfection--not at all greasy so you can enjoy more without feeling sick LOL. I really liked eating the red bean hot bar with the kkakduki (radish kimchi) because the spicy tartness of the kimchi complimented the sweetness of the red bean really well. Oh, and the Cheesy Slice is my recommendation for any gooey cheese lover like myself! They also have a variety of dipping sauces which are all super tasty as well. The soups were all great, too! This place is located on the 4th floor of the Source OC mall inside the food court. They have a wide variety of dishes on the menu, including sushi and different Korean dishes. We ordered the noodle tteokbokgi and the kimchi + ham fried rice. The portions were HUGE. I bet four people could have finished what two people ordered and still be full. The tteokbokgi was just okay; it was not spicy enough. I did appreciate how the sauce was more soupy because the rice cake was in the noodle form. The kimchi + ham fried rice was also yummy, but I wished they would put less cheese. I felt like I was eating half cheese and half rice. I am not sure if I would return, only if I have no other choice. But this is also a food court, so I have plenty of other options. read more

I used to love this place pre COVID. Now? ... I don't know what has gotten into them. HOWEVER: 1. I ordered food for delivery and they refused to make the food. The delivery person called me to let me know they didn't want to make the food. I called ocean snack to confirm. And the guy said that they don't accept delivery services and how it is unappealing to the clients who actually come in to order. How RUDE of him to make that kind of comment. I had to call the third party to get my refund. And the third party told me that it is Ocean Snack's responsibility to take down their platform if they no longer want to take orders from third parties for delivery. 2. Their kimchi pasta is a hit or miss... mostly misses. It's either too sweet, too salty, or they use udon noodles which does not pair well with pasta type dishes. 3. The other foods like sushi roll/ kimchi fried rice that I used to enjoy is now just. Either really mushy or really bland. Not worth the price for the food anymore. read more

Went to the source mall at night and tried this place for dinner. Among five of us, we ordered many meals. We got the black buck wheat noodles in cold spicy sauce, one tempura bento box, one ttuk ppok ee, one kimchi and egg fried rice, and one masago pasta. Mine was the masago pasta, but we all shared our meals. I also very much liked the black buck wheat noodles in cold spicy sauce. It was cold and delicious. The ttuk ppok ee was alright. It wasn't too spicy or sweet, so that was good. I liked my masago pasta. The masago all popped inside my mouth and it was creamy and yummy. I appreciated that you can get side dishes of the macaroni salad, the potato salad and the kimchi. Those were very good too. I got too full by the end of the meal. I tried two of the fish cakes and both were quite tasty; I ended up getting the crunchier one, along with some potato balls. I have got to say, everything was quite tasty. I haven't really tried Korean street food before but if this is indicative of what to expect, I need to be on the lookout for more Korean street food.
