Potato Tornado
Nick P.

We were was so excited to see fried potato tornado on a stick. We ordered for pick-up and it took awhile to be prepared. Hubby felt the potato was okay, it lacked flavor and wasn't as crispy as he had hoped it to be.

1. Sashimi Mix Bowl
Grace Y.

I'm not sure why this place has so many poor reviews because it is one of my go to restaurants at the source. My favorite item is the mixed sashimi bowl. The vegetables are always so crisp and it comes with a great amount of fish. It also comes with a side of rice and miso soup. I have tried other dishes from this place and they have always been yummy. However, if I am going to recommend anything, it's the mixed sashimi bowl!

Squid Cold Noodle

After browsing some shops at the Source, I ate at Ocean Snack with a friend. It's located on the upper level of the food courts near the area with all the mini claw machines. I liked my experience here, so I was taken aback by many of the negative reviews... but to each their own! FOOD: I only got one item-- Squid Cold Noodles (4.5/5). The portion was HUGE, so you can definitely share or bring home leftovers. The red color of the ice was a little off-putting, but the dish was super refreshing and won't leave you feeling heavy. It came with a generous helping of squid that wasn't rubbery and was also topped with cucumbers and sesame seeds. The noodles had a nice bouncy texture. This dish would probably be even tastier if I were eating it on a hot summer day. Be cautious when ordering a lot of food because it seems like other items are also quite generous in size. SERVICE: You order your food using a self-service kiosk at the front of the establishment. You'll probably only interact with staff when your food is ready. When you're done with your food, there's a little stand where you can place your dirty tray and dishes. An undemanding introvert's dream! TLDR// Unassuming place with solid food. (I can only speak for one item on the menu though.) Would revisit if I'm in the area.

Beef bone broth soup combo with tteokbokki & sausage skewers

Perfect place for a nice & quick fix for Korean food. The Source has it all in Buena Park, but narrowed it down to Ocean Snack. Went with Beef Bone broth soup combo with tteokbokki & sausage skewer. Certainly checked all the boxes especially on a cold night. Soup was warm all the way till the end of the meal. Broth had a nice rich taste, meat was tender, soft veggies, and chewy glass noodles. Will need to return to explore other menu selections.

7/13/2024. K popcorn chicken ($9.99) and tornado fries ($6.99). Chicken was just ok, but the fries were unique & enjoyable.

This is the place for a snack attack! 7/13/2024. K popcorn chicken ($9.99): was just ok, not much seasoning and the breading was thick, 3.5/5 stars. Tornado fries ($6.99): were unique & enjoyable. Crispy exterior but tender inside, 4/5 stars. I'd request no sugar for seasoning next time, as I do for Korean corn dogs. Obviously, I'd return for the tornado fries!

K- popcorn chicken

They have a self serve kiosks for dining in. We ordered the bulgogi Plate with k-popcorn chicken (sauce came on the side), and the meal came with a miso soup as well. The bulgogi plate has a generous portion of meat and rice. It's served on a hot plate and there's just something appealing with anything on a hot plate! The plate also came with some onions and broccoli as well. The miso soup was standard. And the popcorn chicken came with some fried rice cakes and we dipped in the sauce that it came with. The prices of the food were a bit steep here. Especially for the popcorn chicken and rice cakes. The chicken was crispy but the portion was a bit small, and the taste was okay. I think I'd skip the popcorn chicken next time and try something else on the menu. The only interaction I had with an actual person was just during the food pick up, and that was it. So service was definitely done mostly on the kiosk. It's a food court, so you'd also have to clean up your own tray afterward. Make sure to bring water or you'd have to buy water/ beverage somewhere on the food court. The good thing is that there are a lot of options to choose from the food court.

Eel rice plate

It was my first time here yesterday. I tried the beef tofu soup. It comes with a package of seaweed and a container of rice. The soup was very watery. My friend tried the eel rice bowl. It taste like sushi in a plate lol. They don't offer free water. It cost 1.63 to buy a bottle of water.

Spicy squid plate

Located inside Source mall in food court area Had the Potato thingy and spicy squid both delicious Not extremely spicy like other places just the right amount of heat This might be my new spicy squid spot Can't wait till i try other menu

I am surprised they got such bad reviews but I enjoyed their food and think price was not too bad among other stalls at the food court. I was craving for ramen and at first I was worried about ordering Korean ramen bc I thought it might just package ramen that I can make at home. But glad that it's not, the broth was flavorful and it's not packaged and the seafood was fresh and they gave me decent amount. My family ordered a teriyaki rice combo and a glass noodles with beef...none of us could finish our dishes and everything was tasty.

Army soup.
Wayne T.

I was curious to try the food here because I was really in the mood to eat korean food. However, I have to be honest with how disappointing my order was. The workers were fine, there isn't anything wrong on their part. The army soup, however, is not worth it. It's 18 dollars, but it doesn't have anything to make it worth 18 dollars. The soup was good for it's spice, but you'll only find vegetables, melted cheese, and bits of sausages. These are cheap ingredients you can buy at the grocery store, and cook yourself. I haven't tried other items here, but I'll have to say my experience this time was regretful.

Selene S.

Got the rice cake with sausage for $5.99. Kind of pricey for a skewer but it was worth a try. It tasted more sweet than spicy. The rice cake was fried but still chewy. Service was good and fast. The lady have us napkins and extra paper plates to hold our skewers.

spicy pork
Elizabeth M.

This was my first time trying this place and although they're mainly a seafood restaurant, my group and I coincidentally all got beef and pork! The spicy pork meal came with rice and miso soup. It's not that spicy so if you have a low spice tolerance you'll be fine. The beef meal also came with rice and miso soup. The flavor was very good! The miso soup was just what you'd expect. The highlight of the meal was truly the tornado potato. It was made fresh to order, perfectly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It's served with a packet of ketchup and a packet of mustard and sprinkled with sugar. I would order about 10,00 more of those! They have different bottled drink options to choose from. I got the corn tea, which I had never heard of before. It is literally flavored like corn (duh) and was quite good. If you've never had it before, I'd recommend giving it a try if you enjoy corn. The restaurant service was mainly fast (there was one person in my group whose food took abnormally long but it was because they were making her potato tornado fresh). They will give you a pager that lights up when your food is ready. Since this is in a food court, there were plenty of places to sit inside.

28. Tuna Poke Bowl
Ariana L.

Huge menu with lots of variety! Good for when you can't decide what to eat! I tried the spicy cold noodles with pollack roe, the tuna poke bowl and the japchae! We also ordered the rice cakes on the side! Everything was good and came in large portions! I really liked the cold noodles, which were spicy but very flavorful and refreshing! I really liked how they had so many options, and they also have the viral potato tornado things, which I want to try next time!

Came here to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday…read more Our party had 3 people and we came for an early dinner on a weekday. There was maybe one or two other parties there. Their menu specializes in Korean style premium seafood items. They have the option of live or not. They had different set options and items you can get a la carte. We went with their live fish and sashimi set C. We also got some live shrimp and live octopus to try. I love that the staff was super knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The live set included a lot of side dishes. It also included halibut and flounder, a platter of abalone, sea cucumber, cold soup, hot fish soup, calamari and vegetable tempura. All of which were amazing and tasted very fresh. The live octopus was definitely an experience. They tasted fresh and sweet and were very actively moving. If you want to try it I would definitely recommend trying it here. The chef was nice enough to have us try two types of nigiri. Both were amazing and fatty. The whole dinner was quite an experience. Since there were so many dishes they made sure to go in order but not rush us since many items were coming out. The staff was super attentive. Many items came with its own sauce so they made sure we were doing it right. We spent about $400 for 3 people which included alcohol. I thought it was fair especially for how fresh our seafood was. The inside of the restaurant is pretty casual but clean. You can also see most of the seafood items. I recommend if if you want live seafood items Korean style. We will be back.

We ordered the 2 people sashimi and couldn't even finish it. It came with the platter of sashimi...fish was fresh but definitely not high quality like the authentic Japanese restaurant..at the end it comes with tempura, Korean tofu side dishes and soup...just a lot. I've been here several times already and will continue coming here! Great service, great ambiance,…read moreand great food. I absolutely love the different specials they offer as they're such great deals with a perfect amount of food. My favorite one is a soup or salad, an appetizer, and any roll for $14.95! They also have one where you can get a ramen/udon and a roll for a similar price. It's honestly hard to find places that offer a really good deal whilst also offering premium quality! My favorite rolls here are the salmon lover and the Las Vegas. They're sooo fresh and full of flavor. I def recommend putting this place on your list!

I have a few good things and a few things that cannot be forgiven…read more Pros: 1. The vibes inside are nice and while it can get busy, the atmosphere inside the restaurant doesn't stop you from having a good time with a group of people. The restaurant is also spacious and you should look to get early to the restaurant if you're going on weekend nights as it can get busy 2. The food is delicious like their rolls and their sushi! I've had no complaints about the taste of their food. 3. Service is also nice and they are very attentive at serving you. Cons: I would recommend people to NEVER order takeout here. They charge you the same prices for their food as if you're eating indoors; however, the quantity they put into the containers is unforgivable. I've order the same rolls that I would get inside the restaurant with my fiancé (only 2) and it was quite numerous and we got full easily. I ordered 5 different rolls for my family to bring home to them and to treat my father especially for Father's Day weekend since he was craving it after a long week of work. I opened the containers to find like 5 pieces of a roll ordered (Salmon Love Roll) and the rest of my rolls had little quantity (half of the container was empty). I was pretty dumbfounded because how could you charge the price of a full set when my containers were barely filled with anything. You filled the rest of the containers with THE SAUCE CUPS. You can put the sauce cups on the side and put more in the actual container. Also, I had filled out that I needed utensils and napkins. I did not even get anything for that as well. In this economy atm, charging anything for those prices and giving us takeout service and quantity like this is pretty unforgivable. I've had other sushi places where I needed to save the rest for the next meal because they had given a lot, but definitely not here. I had rooted for this place when they reopened, but now I'm pretty disappointed.

If you're wanting a Korean-style sushi experience, this is the place…read more What is Korean-style sushi? It's a coursed meal centered around sashimi platters (very unusual to see nigiri at these restaurants), and dishes made with rest of the fish that became sushi. It's sashimi with a lot of extra accoutrements you'd expect in a Korean restaurant. We started with porridge and miso soup, and lots of banchan, including cheesecorn and steamed egg. Then came the sashimi platter. In Korean sushi houses, you get to have soy sauce AND a gochujang based sauce (it's gochujan and vinegar). They also gave us sesame oil + salt and dried seaweed which I think is for the tuna. Then there was tokoyaki, fried rice cakes, tempura, spicy fish stew, grilled fish, fried salmon skin, fried chicken, and spicy marinated crab. All while getting refills on the banchan. It was exactly what I was wanting, as I have not found anything like it in Seattle! The staff was super friendly, and they had a lot of other items on the menu that I would love to try at some point in the future! Highly recommend!
