Finally a Thai spot on Ocean (besides Champa, which is more of a Lao place). It's further down close to 19th ave so it's a much quieter area with a good amount of parking. That's too bad because if this place was closer to CCSF it'd get so many more customers! I've tried their pad thai, pad kee mao, curry dishes and Thai iced coffee. All pretty good, no complaints except that the pad kee mao portions could be a tad bigger (more noods pls!). Everything tastes fresh and the service is really good. I thought my order from Ocean Thai was really great! I ended up choosing the pad see-ew with tofu, the green curry with chicken and the mango sticky rice. The pad see-ew was really good and had great flavor but there were a couple of crunchy bites that were disconcerting. It didn't ruin the meal, but it happened twice and wasn't pleasant. The green curry was perfectly spicy at 'level medium' and had a decent amount of zucchini and chicken which was appreciated. I wish there had been a bit more red pepper or even bamboo shoots added just to have more vegetables, but again, it was so creamy and delicious that I didn't mind. It was also a good amount of food for the price! It made two full meals for me. The mango sticky rice was my favorite part! The perfect combination of soft and fresh mango, sticky rice and coconut milk drizzled on top. So good. I would definitely order from this place again! The restaurant is pretty far from my apartment and they got everything to me quickly. Everything was still hot when it arrived (which is rare with to-go orders). read more

My friend and I wanted to check this place out since it was new. Parking was super easy during dinner time. I found multiple open spots right away. Upon entering, we noticed that this place was pretty quiet so it's the perfect restaurant if you want to catch up or chat while having dinner. The ambiance also makes you feel like you are in a home. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and a side of brown rice. The yellow curry consists of potatoes, onions, chicken and a side of cucumber salad. Since I love cucumber salads, I was so excited that the curry came with it because at other places, they don't. The curry tasted delicious and the amount of coconut milk was perfect. 3.5 stars. Visited this restaurant on a Saturday around 1pm to find only a couple of tables seated with customers. Plenty of metered parking spots available. The wait staff were attentive, although sometimes they could disappear for a couple minutes into the back since the restaurant is so long in design. We ordered the duck fried rice ($12.95) and pad kee mow ($7.95). Pretty decently priced for Thai food but the portion size for the pad kee mow was really small (don't be fooled by all the hidden greens propping up the rice noodles in the picture). The duck fried rice was yummy but the rice was a bit soggy. The pad kee mow was also flavorful but too salty. We thought the slice of watermelon was a funny touch and wondered if it was a courteous addition since it was a warm day outside. Definitely will be back again, maybe next time to try the lunch specials, such as the green papaya salad with barbequed chicken. read more

Loved this place! Ordered takeout for my friends and me during COVID, and was impressed with the timeliness of the pickup. I got the Healthy Salmon (from the chef's favorites section of the menu), and liked how fresh and light the meal was. The dish includes a nice portion of salmon, served alongside a mango relish, fried onions, and a small bed of lettuce. Solid Thai restaurant. Not super authentic but tasty food and reasonable prices for SF. We ordered the pad Thai with beef which was pretty generic. The beef was a little tough. Also got the green curry and ordered a side of rice. I'm not one who can handle spicy food but I thought it was pretty delicious. For people who have low tolerance I would advise against the curry dishes. They advertise as medium spicy but the green curry packed a lot of heat. You may be able to request less spicy for the dishes when you order. Service was great on a Friday night. There was only one server attending to maybe 6-7 other tables. Everything about this place is excellent! From the food to the service, every time we dine here, we leave happy and very full. They offer all the regular Thai dishes, but they also offer unique dishes that are not typically found in other restaurants. Whenever we go here for lunch on the weekends, we like ordering the Chicken Noodle Soup and the Thai Omelette. The Chicken Noodle Soup is similar to Vietnamese chicken pho because it is a clear broth with rice noodles, veggies, and big chunks of chicken. However, in my opinion, the soup here is more flavorful and they include a different variety of veggies (like fresh lettuce, which I really like)! It's perfect for a cold day or if you're just craving some soup to go with your meal! The Thai Omelette is the BEST. It's basically an omelette that comes with seasoned pork, onions, and tomatoes. It's served with a chili sauce and star shaped rice. Sounds simple, but it is SO FLAVORFUL! We never get tired of ordering this! It's one of our favorites on the menu. Definitely try this dish, it's seriously so good. We've tried many other dishes from this restaurant and all have been delicious. The food is always fresh and it feels like you're eating a delicious home-cooked meal. The service here is always excellent. Ocean thai replaced the previous thai restaurant that used to occupy this space. Actually the place, looks pretty much the same. The menu, is a little different. The waiter gave us the regular menu along with the lunch menu. The options were pretty good for lunch. I got the Moo Pad Ma Kur which was the pork sauteed with eggplant, bell peppers, with basil leaves and black bean sauce. The presentation as cute, The rice came out in a star shape. However, it felt that the pork was a little rough and the sauce was a little bit salty. I wish they gave me a little bit more rice, but i was trying to use the rice to mix it to make it less saltly. Definitely one of my new favorite places on Ocean Ave. I love Thai food and enjoy finding new restaurants around me and had been curious to try this spot since their opening. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a clean, crisp feeling. The staff is friendly and giving you ample time to browse the menu and make your choices. They have a lunch menu as well as their specials of the day. Large variety to choose from... from noodles to curries. I ordered the chicken lunch special which arrived in a lovely little basket, accompanied with green papaya salad and rice. Such a lovely presentation and very flavorful. I used to go to this place before it was Ocean Thai and the food was very authentic and always had a good experience. Ordered food delivered through door dash. I actually called the restaurant prior to ask them how I would put in order to add & charge for extra vegetables in my chicken fried rice. I wanted to know the upgrade for the price but the person said that they would take care of it, A bit later I got a notice that they just charged me more, * I think they should have a button & price for it "extra" on dishes like that. I ordered a Thai ice tea, cucumber salad, the chicken fried rice, with extra veggies and I have to say the rice was a bit bland. I did also ask for a side of chili spice and with that, it made it better. I honestly forget that Thai and Chinese are very different in their fried rice selection. Thai rice is definitely fresher tasting but I think definitely needs a little bit more kick with spice like Chinese has sauces. The tea was excellent and I adore the cucumber salad, it's just my favorite! Tasty & very simple. Overall it's a good place just remember the differences in what you may expect. read more

Small little place that was pretty good. I had the green papaya lunch special with grilled pork. Presentation was stellar! The pork as juicy and tender. The sticky rice came in a pretty bamboo box. Oddly it was wrapped in Saran Wrap and needed removal prior to consumption. The green papaya salad was tasty but drenched in a ton of sauce. It was almost a soup! There's lots of thai food out in SF and Ocean Thai is nice for takeout. I imagine it's nice for dining in too but I always seem to crave takeout and this does the job quite nicely. So call me basic but I enjoy their pad thai, pad kee mow, and curry. I'm sure there're other great dishes but I'll get around to trying them eventually. So their lunch menu is essentially the same thing as their dinner menu but cheaper so be sure to order from there during lunch hours. Otherwise, not much else needs to be said. Solid Thai food in west portal! I usually come for their lunch specials (~$10 curry dishes with rice, $11-13 combos). Plating is good enough for all you instagrammers and most portion sizes are decent (lunch curries tend to be a bit smaller). Service is very friendly and flavors are good. Watch for spice levels if you can't handle much - ask the server for accommodations because their dishes tend to pack more spice than other places I've visited. I'm honestly surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. I was thoroughly impressed with our first order that we picked up as takeout just the other night. As usual, I ordered more food than necessary to feed my boyfriend and myself, but that gave us a chance to try a variety of their dishes all at once. We got: - Tom Kah Soup: vegetarian, medium - Larb Salad: chicken, mild - Pad Se-ew: vegetarian, mild - Green curry: chicken, mild - Gra Prow: chicken, very spicy All the dishes were the perfect balance of flavor and texture in generous portions. Their spice levels were on point too! You want it mild, they'll give you just a hint of spice. You want it extra spicy, they won't hold back. What's great, too, is that you can make specifications such as spice level, meat choice, or vegetarian for every dish. What I was most impressed with was the fact that our food was hot and stayed hot on the drive home and through the meal. Granted, we only live about 3 miles from here but many of our other takeout orders from places closer to us are often cold and need to be reheated by the time we get home. The Gra Prow had a lot of flavor, the pork was tender and flavorful (you get to select the meat). However, even asking for mild it came pretty spicy. Pad see ew was the best I've had. They did not hold back on flavor and garlic. This dish is not for you if you don't like garlic. I love garlic so I really enjoyed it. Panang curry was pretty spicy even when we asked for mild and lunch portion was really small. Service lacked a bit but they are still new. Not that anything bad happened but they were a bit in over their heads. It was quite busy and they seem to be a bit behind. Metered street parking right in front. It was pretty easy.
