ordered duck pad woonsen which was listed as $20 on the menu, received shrimp pad woonsen with only 2 pieces of shrimp (see pics, I literally dug through the entire dish for more and there were none). I told the waitress I had ordered duck, not shrimp, to which she said "well the pad woonsen is with shrimp" even though in the menu it says you can choose your meat and does not specifically come with shrimp. I said "OK well I had said duck" and she looked blankly at me. I was okay with getting shrimp instead of duck (even though I had said duck and wanted duck, I also like shrimp) but 2 measly pieces of shrimp is still not enough variation/protein for this dish. Also the dish itself lacked flavor (again, probably bc there was no protein to give it any flavor). We were in the area after playing golf at Presidio and decided to go to an old favorite, King of Thai on Clement. I used to come here years ago, and always got the duck fried rice, and even after all these years, this is probably my favorite fried rice and is something I have to get every time. Decent amount of duck, great flavor, 10/10 would recommend. We also got an order of their panang beef and fresh spring rolls. I wasn't a huge fan of their spring rolls because it had no flavor whatsoever, felt like I was eating air (if that makes sense). The panang beef curry was delicious. Bold flavor, great curry to pour over rice. My only gripe is that it was 80% curry and the beef and veggies were sparse. Great dish just wish they added more meat, especially since you have to pay extra for it. The food here comes out quick and was perfect for a quick and easy dinner. I visited King's Thai Cuisine #2 on July 30, 2026 around 12:30 PM. I want to start by saying a server named Tan was absolutely great! Unfortunately, another waitress on shift completely ruined the atmosphere with her terrible attitude and lack of customer service. You could sense her bad mood immediately through her tone, mannerisms, and body language. I watched her be incredibly nasty, short, and direct with another table. When a customer tried to make a payment, she literally overrode what he wanted to do. She also rudely snapped at someone to keep the lid on the sauce if they weren't using it. If you are having a bad day, you shouldn't come to work and take it out on paying customers. I actually left to go to the bank specifically to pull out cash to tip Tan for her great service. However, I ended up withholding my funds when I was told the tips are split and half of my money would go to the rude waitress. Tan deserved a great tip, but I refuse to subsidize terrible customer service. Management needs to address this because that kind of attitude is just bad for business. The absolute best fried rice and fried chicken breast! Not sure what they do to this chicken but the batter is perfectly light crispy crunchy flavorful and delicious! Back when King of Thai used to call this space home, all of my visits seemed to come when it was either late into the night and/or when I was...somewhat less than sober. Which, not so coincidentally, is probably why I never knew I hadn't written a review for them. However, ever since King's Thai has taken over, it's pretty clear the nature of my visits have also changed, even if nearly everything else about this place is largely the same. Honestly, between how the decor and the menu look almost identical to King of Thai's, I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing that has changed is the name above the door! While this location looks all too familiar, I will say that this place is a bit nicer looking compared to the other King of Thai's that I've been to. As a whole, the decor is a bit more modern, with a lot of dark and warm tones, but it's far from the trendy vibe that Osha Thai puts out. As for the menu, it's pretty much the same as King of Thai's, but I have to admit I don't remember it looking this interesting (like I said...less than sober). From their appetizers, noodle soups and curries to their fried rice, rice plates, and stir-fried dishes, there's a good variety of both common staples, like Pad See Ew and Kao Gra-Pow, and offerings I see less often, like Guay Tiew Nuer Puir and Roasted Duck Curry. -- FRIED CHICKEN OVER FRIED RICE - Deep Fried Marinated Chicken Cutlet Over Thai Fried Rice...$17 Pretty Solid. As far as service goes, it may not be the greatest I've ever experienced, but, across all of my visits, I can't say I've run into the types of issues that other Yelpers have mentioned. Yes, there have been times where I've seen the servers hanging around the counter and chatting, but they're still attentive to when customers hail them and they usual float around to check if anything is needed. What's more, the servers have always been really nice and they even made a point of verifying my friend's identity before confirming he left his credit card behind/returning it to him when we went back to reclaim it, rather than just handing it over blindly. Between how the food has been consistently good, the lack of a wait for a table, and how they stay open until midnight (especially rare and appreciated on this side of the city), I find myself coming here more often these days than I did to their predecessors. There are definitely better places in SF for Thai food, but when factoring in convenience and proximity to me, King's Thai is definitely nice to have as a reliable go-to! read more

I've been eating at kings Thai and king of Thais around the city for hella years. Maybe 20? Yrs? I like the atmosphere in this location. I think they might've closed the location across/down the street a while ago. The goods always hella good, portion sizes great, service great and restrooms clean. The app was frozen a bit and instead of replacing the dish, they replaced one of them - like, one of the pieces. lol. Being a former GM for restaurants and bars (plus my aunt owned 2 long standing sac Asian restaurants for over 25 yrs) I found this to be extremely tacky. Maybe it's their policy, but my young kids ate 2 of them before commenting they were mostly frozen. After relaying this info, the correct response should be to replace the entire app (esp bc there were only 3 or 4? In the dish). Kids aren't quick to pin point flaws and granted, they were slow to let me know, it would've been in much better taste to replace the entire dish. For this, we tipped slightly over 18% instead of the usual 25-30% we normally tip. Left a bad taste to get served one instead of replacing the app in its entirety. I really wish Yelp gave you the ability to give half stars yet again. 3 stars may seem harsh here - we had a pretty solid meal, but felt the flavors were a bit different for some of the Thai classics we love. We got the som tam (papaya salad), phat gra paow with chicken, and the gauy tiew lord. The som tam was good, although milder than we were expecting and could've used more peanuts and tomatoes to add textural contrast to the papaya. The phat gra paow with chicken was also tasty, although not as spicy or basil forward as I would expect traditionally with this dish. We probably should've gone more traditional and gotten ground pork instead of the chicken, but oh well. The gauy tiew lord was definitely loaded with seafood, but was a bit sweet which was unexpected. Fortunately, since they provide each table with traditional Thai condiments, we doused this with spicy vinegar and garlic chili paste, which mellowed out the sweetness and provided some nice acidity and spice. I love that duck can be used as a protein in noodles and curry, which isn't very common. Usually restaurants only offer a one-off duck curry dish, but this time I was able to be creative and combine duck with pad thai and red curry. The curry portion was substantial, much larger than what I've experienced at other curry places in San Francisco. Rice is also included in the price, making the total for a curry and rice dinner less than $20, which I find extremely valuable. The pad thai was decent, but nothing really stood out to me. However, I appreciated the generous amount of protein in the dish. I did find the noodles a bit on the soggier side, but they were extremely flavorful. The restaurant itself is quite spacious with plenty of seating. I was on the other side of town, so I called ahead to check availability, and they were very friendly in letting me know how many tables were open. Having enjoyed this at a place that I used to frequent on Sloat, around the corner from the Lucky Supermarket, I made this a must order for us. It was a first for the rest of the dining party and they all enjoyed it. Salad, shared 5. I enjoyed this though it was on the tangy or tart side. Not sure whether it was because the salad dressing wasn't mixed enough. Mains, all shared 6. This was my pick and it was okay as it didn't particularly stand out. 7. The flavors were a good mix and it came with two scoops of jasmine rice. Some diners paired this with the fried rice too. 8. Pretty standard here as the crab was noticeably there. The flavors didn't particularly stand out here and the rice is a bit on the wetter sde. My friend asked for two orders of the fried egg side (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=UzHwum4K902r1ZnyFI2arg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) which one of the hosts and I mixed with our rice. It was over easy, leaning slightly towards hard but still had enough runny egg to add richness to the fried rice and my other food. The staff was patient given that it was my first time here and my unfamiliarity with the menu. Plus, we ordered quite a bit of food for four though there were no take home boxes at the end of the meal. The food came out lightning fast, surprisingly, given the brisk amount of takeout customers that flowed in and out of the restaurant. The team of waitstaff tended to our needs promptly, removing empty plates and refilling water glasses. The prices are very wallet friendly too which is always a plus. The dining room is not very large, guessing 15-16 tables. There is a long hallway leading to the restrooms in back past the kitchen. Looking forward to dining here again. read more

Here's a review draft for your feedback: I've been a loyal customer of King of Thai in SF, frequenting this location and the original one for years. The dishes have always felt authentic, flavorful, and consistent--something I really appreciated. However, on this visit, I was disappointed. The dishes, including the Tom Yum soup, were overly sweet, which overwhelmed the usual balance of flavors. The curry, which is usually a highlight, tasted oddly like salad dressing--bland and completely off from what I expected. Additionally, we had to seat ourselves and grab our own menus even though it wasn't busy. Place was clean and tidy. I hope this was just an off day, as I've always loved their food. I'll give them another try, but I really hope they return to the quality that made them a favorite. read more

Check your receipt! Make sure you see the total amount before you sign the check. I realized I was given other people's check after my card was swiped. But fortunately I was able to get them to void the charges when I found out. But I'm still annoyed. Green papaya salad and green curry were both mediocre.
