The Oceanside Broiler offers a great location with waterfront view. The service was friendly and attentive. The OB offers a good happy hour drinks menu with plenty of choices. The fish and chips received very good reviews but my Baja fish tacos were very pedestrian. I would go back again and just do the drinks and apps to soak up the waterfront harbor view. read more

My husband and I came here and we pretty disappointed. It took a good 15 minutes to meet our server. Another 10 to get drinks and order food. After we ordered, we never saw our sever again. We ended up getting an emergency call and I had to go in and get the check that our server then brought out. Our food was apparently ready by then but we took it to go. The cost came to almost $100 and we didn't get my husband's other drink and the food was cold by the time we got to our car. Location/view is great. Service was decent. Drinks were good. I really wanted to like this place. I ordered the prime rib. When it arrived I thought it looked a little funny; was a tan color, even the marbled fat was opaque, not translucent. However, everyone else in my party of six had their meals, and I chalked it up to possibly a different cooking method that I was not aware of, maybe even a seasoning. First bite was a little off-putting. Sometimes I will attribute that to the flavor of the drink I just had. Second bite no better, I was really hungry, so one more bite, and that was it. So bad, actually tasted like it was spoiled. The server even approached me, seeing the look on my face, and asked me if I was okay. I told her honestly, and she was kind enough to take it back and bring me something else to eat. Having said that, by the time I received it, the rest of my party was done with their meal and sat waiting for me to eat. Uncomfortable at best. I expected that I would be sick. It did not get to that level fortunately, most likely because I stopped eating it quickly, but there was some stomach discomfort. Here's my greatest disappointment. Mistakes happen. However, something like this was completely avoidable, and possibly intentional. Intentional, that is, to save cost by selling a piece of meat that was old. Certainly avoidable. Any chef that just looks at a plate should be able to tell that something is wrong. Goes back to choosing to send something out that should not have been. Not good, will not be back. read more

Covid style review! I don't give many 5 stars. A place has to exceed expectations to get all stars from me. We dined here after a nice walk. There was a large group of us and we had the patio. The service was excellent, they handled the crowd and took great care of us! The patio was nicely spread out, as was the inside dining room. The great - Great happy hour selection for food and drink. Had a great meal here! We were so fortunate to have had Irish for a server. She is without a doubt The Most Gregarious server I've ever known! She was so attentive and caring to everyone in our party and was such a delight to be around. The restaurant is nice and situated on the marina. It's clean and comfy. The food was great. We were hungry when we arrived and therefore couldn't resist the dinner bread, a generous hunk of delicious warm sourdough that was worth the $5. Wife ordered the clam chowder and loved it. Son ordered the cioppino and said that it was excellent. It was quite a lovely presentation in a small skillet. They also shared the grilled oysters and both were over the moon with those. My fish and chips were very good, not too large of a portion and the tartar sauce was unique & tasty (like it had some pesto in it). Great experience here! We're in OS on vacation and of course wanting good seafood. This place was a winner. Great service, great food, good atmosphere. We sat inside (needed some AC) but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking the harbor. Cathy was our server and she was just lovely. So sweet and kind and attentive, and she gave quick, professional service. She recommended some places for us to go shopping and some things for us to do while we are in town. The food was very good. My mom had the orange salmon, I had the snapper, and my cousin had a French dip. We walked away happy and full. I think we missed it it, but I'm pretty sure they have a notable happy hour. We stopped by the Broiler with a group of five and were not disappointed. Between the five of us we ordered about 12 appetizers and desserts. The roast beef slider and burger sliders were a favorite. The calamari, grilled oysters and zucchini were also very good. The coconut shrimp was delicious as were the bread pudding and creme brulee desserts. Our server Melissa was attentive and on point. The location on the water provided a good view of the harbor. Due to the wind and cool weather, I would recommend that anyone trying this place out for the first time bring an extra coat. You may not catch a chill, but a few people in our group did. Once the sun goes down and the wind picks up, it gets chilly. Overall, I give this a 3-4 out of 5. The spinach artichoke dip was solidified due to sitting to long before service, the Mahi Mahi tacos were served on a corn tortilla not toasted and fell apart as I went to eat it due to being soggy.. The rice and beans tasted like it just got served out of a great value can from Walmart and the rice was so dry a cup of water would have not made them moist.. I probably would have rather ate rice and beans from any random homeless Californian. The chicken penne pasta sauce was so thin you could have called the entre a soup. We wanted a great restaurant to celebrate Father's Dad. We made reservations before hand my reservation were confirmed. We originallymade the reservation for party of six @ 2:30pm on FAther's Day of all days. We rented a boat around the harbor and we arrived early and they let us move up the time by 1 hour. Our wAitress was named Kaia. You customer service was outstanding. Our drinks were filled at all times. She took our order of 5 by memory and she got every order correct. She didn't forget anything. So this is one of our "go to" places & have always had a pleasant experience. That was until this past Saturday the vibe was just off, the diningroom we were seated in had the ambiance of a run down Dennys, our drinks were served in plastic cups & the staff seemed frazzled even though it wasn't very busy. We ordered our usual "half & half" the fish was dripping with oil & their usually awesome coleslaw was tasteless & missing the craisins which was disappointing. Just not a good experience this time around, I really hope this isn't going to be an ongoing problem & it wasn't the staffs problem so I'm thinking Management needs to step it up. I guess our next visit will determine if we ever go back. They also need to bring back the Sunday brunch!!! read more
