I had a few people raving about this place but I also heard mixed reviews as well. The thing about SoCal is, you have to be really good for your boba to stand out. Odd one out unfortunately didn't make the cut for me. I ordered three drinks: Yuzu Osmanthus, golden Buddha with silk boba, and Hokkaido soba. They're all ver different in terms of flavors but none of them were good enough for me to think "wow I can't wait to go back." The tea itself tasted watered down. Maybe I got a bad batch? Who knows. My friends and I agreed that we preferred chi cha and Torotea in terms of the flavor of the tea. Location: it's in Pasadena which makes it less than ideal. First of all, I would love to give a huge shout out to Eddie and the sweet girl that he was working with at the time (didn't catch her name) But they were both lovely. The interaction was honestly short, but I immediately felt so welcomed. I ordered maybe about 15 drinks and they made it so quick and so perfect. I don't remember exactly what I ordered , but I know for sure. I ordered the champion milk tea with Jasmine silk jelly (?) If I didn't have to watch my sugar, I think I would drink at least five in one sitting. I completely understand why they were rated in 2022 and 2023! Customer service was 100/10!! I didn't catch the name, but he was AMAZzing!!! Such a sweetie!! lol so friendly and patient. Drinks were only ok IMO. For the price and the rewards they received, I was expecting SPECTACULAR! Walking inside the boba shop, I can smell that they used quality tea for their boba drinks. However, the tea flavor in our drinks were very weak. We tasted more milk than tea. I really wanted to like this place since they have coconut almond jelly. Their champion milk tea was the best drink among three drinks we got, it had normal black tea flavor you'd get at any regular boba shop. The black rose milk tea was very watered down with almost no notes of rose, it was a total let down forsure. The yuzu osmanthus was pretty refreshing, but it was not my cup of tea, literally, it was my friend's drink lol. I would have drank that instead of my rose milk tea. But overall the drinks lack that tea flavor that's so important to any boba shop, unfortunately it is the odd one out and not in a good way :'( read more

This place was recently opened in Pasadena and I heard great things about it, so I wanted to check it out. The store is relatively small and is only for taking drinks to go, meaning there's no indoor/outdoor seating. The store itself is cute, a little small but I liked the decor and you can see the staff crafting the drinks from behind the counter. They had free samples to try and the cashier was really patient when we were deciding what to order. Pistachio Strawberry Matcha (3/5): I wasn't really a fan of this drink. They told me this was one of their popular seasonal drinks, but I thought it was just okay. I like all those things in the drink (pistachio, strawberry, and matcha) but I felt like the combination was too much going on. I like my drinks more on the simple side and this drink in particular was too much per sip. Champion Milk with Jasmine Silk Boba (3/5): I liked this drink better but it was anything amazing. The silk boba was good but I couldn't really taste the jasmine. Overall this place was okay and exceeded lower than my expectations. I found Odd One Out at Sawtelle first and thankfully they opened a location closer to me in Pasadena last year. I have LOVED Odd One Out and have gotten boba probably once a week. The wintermelon silk is AMAZING and the tea is authentic and you can taste it unlike other boba shops that are full of sugar. Sadly, the last 3 times I've gotten boba here I have noticed the quality has significantly gone down. I think they changed the recipe of the wintermelon silk boba because it does not taste the same! They also changed the lids from sealed lid to a plastic lid that is too big for the boba straw making the straw drown in the drink if you get a 22 oz. Please Odd One Out, keep to your traditional standards, please do not change anything in the recipe, the OG was AMAZING. read more

Their milk tea was great at 50% sweet and the silk boba they offer is one of my new favorite drink toppings. I love that there's enough to enjoy with every sip. There was a lot more pistachio chunks than I expected and I was expecting to taste the pistachio more. Next time, I definitely want to try something more classic. Came here at 9 pm and surprisingly they were still open. Got a few quick refresher drinks and loved it otw home from Pasadena. Yuzu Osmanthus - Pretty solid flavors. Got this was 25% sweetness and it was just right. Added some jellies too and solid flavors (5/5) Hokkaido with Jasmine Silk Boba - Really enjoyed this one. Flavor was light but overall it was good. I heard about this award-winning, famous milk tea from Taiwan, and jumped on the chance to try them when they opened here in Pasadena! I love how sleek the shop is - although small, I love how they utilized their space showcasing their rewards, glass to be able to see how the tea is made, and their merch. The front staff was very kind and let me know how their tea was made and their history. I was happy to see how many options they had on their menu, and to see so much tea I've never tried! I got the Champion Milk Tea and my partner got the Everyday Ordinary Boba. As the staff said, they focus on the quality of their tea compared to the toppings they add, and I can say confidently that their tea quality is amazing! First time here and ordered a couple of the yuzu osmanthus. Pretty sweet but it's good at 50% sugar with less ice.

I tried the ancient puer milk tea which came with winter melon silk jelly, I don't know if I've seen this drink on the menu previously. So, do the teas here live up to their hype? Starting with their Champion Milk Tea and Golden Buddha Silk, I'm happy to say that both are delicious and full-bodied. Both are also the priciest on the menu at $8, although the Golden Buddha Silk includes jasmine silk boba. I also had the jasmine green milk tea, which was also good but not the best I've had, as it was a bit on the milky side. My favorite so far was actually their Icy Peak Milk Tea which had a nice roasted flavor. But as I've mentioned, their jasmine silk boba keeps me returning. Hands down, the best boba spot in the Pasadena area. I consider myself somewhat of a boba connoisseur, having traveled wide and far in LA and Asia for the best cup of boba. OOO is from Taiwan (OG birthplace of boba) and many of their drinks have earned them awards at competitions. I can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients and purity of the tea. The golden Buddha silk boba drink was ridiculously good, though I'd recommend 25% sugar for those who prefer less sweetness. The silk boba texture is incredibly unique and satisfying to chew on, while not causing jaw tension like traditional boba. I also love the convenience of the online ordering system to skip the line. There is no place to sit and wait for your drinks. It's kind of cramped to go to the side and wait. They might be a bit under staffed. Even with 3 or 4 people behind the counter, the cashier had to stop taking orders to help brew tea and organize orders. Gave Odd One Out a try again because I couldn't remember my past experience. Tried a pistachio strawberry matcha ($8) this time. I didn't enjoy this drink. I grabbed my drink by the top and didn't realize how warm the bottom of the drink. Even after mixing and letting the ice melt a little, it was not a good experience to expect an ice cold drink but it was really warm. After 5 minutes my ice was almost all melted and luke warm. Not really sure I tasted pistachio in the drink. Definitely tasted the strawberry bits and matcha though. Found this place after watching a YouTube documentary on the boba industry. After seeing the owners' attention to quality, I had to try this place out. Here's the drinks I tried: Champion Milk Tea - Decent. A little less creamy than I anticipated but I liked the tea flavor. I just wish that the tea were a little stronger, but I'll give them credit for being somewhat more tea-forward than some competitors when it comes to milk tea. I think if you get this less/mini sweet and add boba, it'd probably make for a more enjoyable drink. Grapefruit Oolong - Also decent. They gave me a generous amount of grapefruit pulp, which was nice. The drink starts off a bit bitter from all the grapefruit pulp, but as you drink more, you taste more of the sweetness. The tea didn't leave much of an impression on me, as most of the flavor came from the grapefruit and sugar. Not bad, but I don't think I'd get it again. Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba - This one was the winner for me. After trying a sampler, I ordered this one mini sweet and it was just right. If I stumble upon this place again, this would be my go-to order. Overall, I'd rate it 7/10. For award-winning boba, I was expecting a little more from this place. There's definitely worse places than this, but ChiCha San Chen and Torotea still remain my favorite boba shops in terms of tea quality. I'd say give it a shot if you're curious. read more

We went during soft opening, it replaced the old OneZo location. I got Oolong tea with Tea Jelly, perfect ice and sugar. Loved it. It's not too sweet, very refreshing, the tea flavor spot on without being too bitter. Tea Jelly is now my favorite just behind Boba, it has that chewiness texture of boba, but with tea flavor. Service was ok, I expected a little bit more from Soft Opening. The place is newly opened, they open till 8pm by the time I went. Inside has minimal decoration with vibrant color, brings you the comfortable feeling during summer or hot weather. read more
