And it's a perfectly convenient stop for a drink when meeting others in the lobby to leave for dinner. Bartender Christian is as friendly as all the staff at the Rio and took great care of us. The cocktail game is real and we had some excellent, beautiful drinks. There was a live singer some nights. (Lapa & Luckley's have happy hours a few days a week) Also, I don't know how often this happens, but while in the casino we were given a buy one get one coupon for drinks here! But be sure to tip on your total before the discount ;)

Once I stepped foot inside and saw a completely packed house with an hour and a half wait and barely standing room at the bar, I knew it was worth whatever wait or process I had to go through. Ultimately I lucked out as an individual. I was able to snag a bar top seat pretty quickly and had I known then I was sitting down to what was going to be one of the best meals of my life, I would have been visibly more excited. Not only was the service absolutely top notch, the people and the regulars there were extremely friendly and outgoing. The vibe was perfect, a strange mix of a place that felt like it had been there for 200 years yet was somehow high energy and vibey. From a killer cocktail recommendation to one of the best steaks I've had in my life and coming from Oklahoma City, where I work a mile away from the stockyards and can get great quality fresh beef six ways from Sunday, that's saying a lot. I usually despise most things truffle but if I was forced to eat that truffle mac and cheese every day for the rest of my life I would consider it a life well lived. While I would have never ordered it on my own, a customer next to me recommended the porn star cocktail and I have to say it was also one of the most delicious things I've ever had in my life. Ten out of ten, top notch experience. Would recommend. Will be back every time I'm in Vegas, no questions asked.

We were initially told the wait would be about 45 minutes, but after waiting that long, we were told we still had to wait until all guests with reservations had been seated. Since reservations kept arriving, it felt like we might never get a table. After speaking with management and going back and forth, we were finally seated after about an hour. Once seated, it also took a while for our food to arrive, but the quality of the food, drinks, and overall experience made it worth it. Just know that Mariposa is off the Las Vegas Strip, so you'll need to venture away from the Strip to get there. Overall, if you make a reservation ahead of time, you'll likely have a much smoother experience. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are absolutely worth checking out.

Alright, buckle up for the wild ride that is Oddwood in Area 15, Vegas! Picture this: I walk into a bar that looks like the lovechild of a neon dreamscape and a fever dream. Center stage? A massive, glowing tree straight out of Avatar. I'm half-expecting fairies to start serving drinks. Enter Chelsea, the bartender extraordinaire. This woman isn't just slinging drinks; she's performing cocktail alchemy. I ask for something special, and she hands me a lavender Old Fashioned that's basically liquid gold. This drink is so smooth and fragrant, I'm pretty sure I heard a choir of angels every time I took a sip. After looking through the menu I decided on The Knockout specialty cocktail and my wife decided on the Chandelier specialty cocktail. The knockout definitely lives up to its name. I was feeling pretty loose after just one. My wife enjoyed the presentation of the Chandelier drink and she said it tasted very good. I would recommend this bar as a way to start or even end the night.

Initially I parked there, but, seeing that there was actually more bar indoors, went into Johnny Coco's. The Legend ($12): Appreciably juicy with the right amount of citrus sour. Boozy. Value: Cocktails which hover closer to the $10 versus $20 mark, plus tasting great, always get the thumbs-up. Service: Very friendly from Josie. Atmosphere: The whole venue seemed to me around the same, or even had a larger footprint, than similar pocket-sized drinking establishments in the area. Inside was disco/warehouse party in black and fluorescent paint and neon lights, and well-lit shattered-mirror walled unisex facilities. Outside beyond the smallest bar window were orange picnic tables, black hightops and stools, and, for the weather, heaters. Dude-coded knickknacks adorning the shelves ranged from "Johnny Coco's" framed tiki shirt and a "juicy lucy" poster of beef cuts mapped onto a Betty Page lookalike rather than a cow or the burger, to possibly the strangest item, a neon sign advertising Dansko.

We've actually been on a mission to try our way through the entire Saburomaru tarot card series, and the flavor profiles are so intriguing, each one is genuinely unique. We love trying new things, and this is the perfect spot for it. The server was friendly and clearly knowledgeable, happy to help us navigate the menu and talk through the different options with us. We love getting to stop in here whenever we can, it's always a great experience.
