Just went to Odell's for the first time. I was not disappointed the only BBQ that I have had is my own. The Brisket is so tender and flavorful. Service was fast friendly and helpful, we had take out but it looks inviting to stay at. Mac & Cheese so good the rolls melted in my mouth. Very glad I found this place this morning. It was a pleasure sending my money there. And you can't say that about a lot of places in Redding. I will definitely recommend this place and be back very soon. I want to eat there the next time. This was by a chance encounter for us, on the long drive north on I5. They are currently open only on Thurs and Fri. The tritip was amazing, perfectly trimmed, barbecued, and sliced to perfection, extremely juicy. The chicken enjoyed a 24 hour herb brine bath and then smoked to lock in the natural moisture. The pulled pork was outshined by the other meats. I purchased four lemon bars for later. We were graced with samples, which only served to make me want more. I am from Florida and wanted to experience this BBQ. Unfortunately I arrived late Friday and discovered that the food offering sells out early. Nevertheless, the staff did every possible, over and beyond expectations, to help me get a taste of their pulled pork, tri-tip and several salads. I also had the incredible lemon bars for desert. I had Odell's cater my wedding in November. The experience was exceptional from start to finish, from the initial tasting to the ceremony. MANY people at the wedding said this was the best wedding catering that they'd ever had. The staff was kind and communicated with us throughout the entire process. Wow'd by this place today. The wood fire smoker drew me in from down the street. Had half of a pulled pork and half brisket sandwich then topped it off with a Jalapeño popper which was great. Definitely going back and bringing others to join. Great staff. read more

I've loved Odell's bbq when I've had it at weddings, and always enjoyed what they make. So this year I pre-ordered their thanksgiving feast... with smoked Turkey and sides... WOW first of all everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portions size was generous and we have plenty of leftovers after feeding 10 people. Everything is made from scratch and it's excellent. This might become a thanksgiving tradition. I don't think I can ever go back to doing it all myself. Wow wow wow. This is literally the best place ever. Our family had used them to cater a few events and every time, the guests ranted and raved about the food. We are using them for catering for our wedding in June, they have been so responsive and accommodating to our every request. I've had my fair share of BBQ across the country and in town and I must say... Odell's is definitely taking the cake on best of Redding! There is something to be said about a place that sells out of certain menu items within the first hour of opening, which was the case the first time I came here. Nonetheless, my meal of brisket plus sides was still amazing! The second time I came I made sure to be first in line so I could experience the pulled pork and boy was I glad I came early! Their meats hit all the feels and I appreciate that they serve sauce on the side so you can add your own according to your preference. Their sides include everything from tater salad to mac n cheese, and the sweet pickled jalapeños are to die for! But let's talk about those buns... holy heaven it's like a certain "Roadhouse" roll on crack! I could eat 10. I deducted 1 star because I'm a little bit of a coleslaw snob and Odell's completely missed the mark for me on this one. I've made my grandma Helen's recipe for years and cranberries don't belong in a slaw IMO. Also, I understand the Mac n cheese specifically calls out pepper as a main ingredient but it didn't do it for me. Despite these minor details, I will be back! read more

OMG! if anyone needs a place to eat Odell's BBQ located in the heart of Downtown Redding. It is across from the old City Hall (Art's Gallery) on Market Street (Historic US Route Highway 99 or simply Old Highway 99). Great job Jason Odell and crew. I took my family of 4 on a Friday. We ordered a platter with Brisket, Chicken and Tri-tip with potato salad and Mac n cheese. The brisket was as good as any I have had in Texas and that is a really high compliment. The Tri-tip and brisket had great flavor and a beautiful smoke ring. The sides were great. The lemon bars were absolutely addictive. The diversity of BBQ sauces were a great addition but not even necessary because the brisket and Tri-tip was so good. Even the picked onions and pickles were killer. The only room for improvement was the chicken. It did not even have a smoke flavor. It needs a good dry rub and a little attention. It was a bit dry. Everything else was absolutely amazing including the service. Next time I will try the ribs which looked great. So good. We will be back! read more

I had Odell's make the food for our twin's first birthday party. They service was amazing, and so was the food. I would have posted a picture of the delicious food but we ate it all before I could. I got the tritip and chicken. The tritip was some of the best I've ever had and even some of my family members who aren't big on red meat loved it. The price wasn't too expensive either. Well worth it, so I didn't have to cook or worry about food at the party. Also, they cleaned dishes and packed up the food after, now that's service!! read more

This BBQ is soooooo good! It's the best tri tip and brisket I've ever had, and the ribs are definitely up there too. I could probably eat about 10 of their honey butter rolls as well. We've ordered from Odell's a handful of times and everything we've gotten has been delicious. We recently had them cater a party and all of our guests were commenting on how amazing the food was. The staff was also really friendly and great to work with.
