I got the sirloin tips which were cooked medium as requested and surprisingly tender. I also got the grilled veggies a nd roasted potatoes which were good. I was very satisfied. I just had my first and last experience there. They told me my soda was in the bag and when I got home it was not. When I called up simply asking for them to refund the soda and they said I had to come all the way back up because the manager wasn't there. I'm brand-spanking new to St. Louis and when I moved into my apartment I had a menu/coupon for this place...it's taken me a few weeks, but I finally tried it - and was pretty happy that I did. I called for take-out since I knew from reading reviews that there really isn't anywhere to sit inside - and my order was ready when they said it would be. I got OTG delivered to my hotel room. The food was delivered within 45 minutes. I ordered the salmon (plain), baked potato, and steamed veggies. The veggies consisted of sliced zucchini and squash, carrots, and red and yellow bell pepper. The veggies were steamed perfectly and still slightly crunchy which I liked, because I don't like soggy veggies. The potato was large, and the salmon tasted like the wild caught variety (not as fatty, not pink in color), but still tasty. It also came with a roll. We got Off The Grill last night on June 6, 2013. We have ordered from here several times and have not been let down. Last night was quite different our order came yo $57.71 which is about the average order for my family we had guests over. It took longer than the 45 minutes to get the food. When we recieved the food it was actually disgusting the steak sandwhichs were completely fat. The sirlion tips(large orders) were not cooked to our specifications MR they were cooked well done. Their signature sauce which is usually ok was overbearing we paid extra for mush and onions which were completely black. Everyone got sick from eating this that night . So today me and a few co-workers decided to order lunch from here. We couldn't get through on the phone so they sent me up to place an order for carryout. Upon arrival I waited probably 10 minutes before being helped (expected since it was lunch time). Their phone was ringing off the hook and they would put people on hold and just go back to work without taking a order. No wonder I couldn't get through. I made the mistake of not checking everything before I left and they forgot a baked potato on our order along with mustard. I got back and my coworker complained he didn't get his baked potato. I sacrificed mine to him to avoid a trip back but moments later he dropped his burger in disgust because there was a long hair in it. Angry at this point he took the receipt and headed back to have his order replaced. At first they tried to give him his original order back with a baked potato and the hair tainted burger.... My first experience with this establishment was great. Today, not so much! In this day and age, who has ever heard of getting a busy signal for over 20 minutes? Why did I keep trying, you might ask? Because I already told my employees I would treat them. I finally get through, get placed on hold, the guy picks up. Ask for my order - 7 people in all. He asks for the name of each person (which is nowhere to be found on the take out BTW). I ask him, how long for delivery versus pick up. He says 50-60 mins. for delivery, 20/25 for take out. So I pick it up. I ordered at 11:54. Got there are 12:30, it wasn't ready until 1:05. Seriously?! They don't say, sorry for your wait, etc. As a matter of fact, they looked at me like, "what's your problem" when I let them know I wasn't thrilled by the wait. I do have a job to get back to ya know! I get everything back to work (I am not happy, clearly) start going through everything on to have the wrong salad dressing (ordered honey French, received honey mustard.. was a big deal to the person eating) and the hot items were lukewarm and the French fries were not even that. So, why did I have to wait so long??? The sandwiches were in foil and still barely warm. Spent $61.31 to have a crappy meal! No thanks! read more

1 hour to wait for delivery is a bit much as a standard, but that was just the time quoted- actual time to deliver was 1 hr 45 minutes. I called to see if there had been a problem with the order (a sandwich/fries and steak tips/veggies) and was told it'd be another 5-10 minutes, and sorry but it's been busy. 25 minutes later it was delivered with NO acknowledgement, thanks, or apology from the delivery man. No sense of accountability to a promised delivery time. When you are targeting the business class as your customer base, you have to know that we plan our lunch breaks around these quotes, which left me with 10 minutes to cram what I could in before a meeting. The food itself was above average for delivery or even most dine in places around here, but by the time the steak tips arrived they'd been wrapped in foil long enough that they were definitely medium well, not medium as ordered. Glad to have ordered mushrooms with them, made a great combination. Veggies were absolutely unimpressive/flavorless. Complimentary roll was good, but should be served with butter. I've heard that the owner has the place up for sale and I can't help but think that service is not much of a priority in the mean time? I've heard so many good things before. Horrible management and costumer service !!!! After picking up my order I had dished part of the Meal onto a plate only to notice a 10 inch black hair in the rice . I called the restaurant to let them know and they basically acted like I was lying and told me it was a piece of ginger . I called repeatedly for the next three days to speak to the manager which never bothered to return my call. After e -mailing, I finally received a response to call the restaurant and speak to Marshall one of their managers he basically told me people were trying to get "free" food from them and he wanted me to make a 30 minute drive back to the restaurant to return the food so that they could verify what I was saying was true . At this point it's not even worth the aggravation , time out of my day ,and gas ! I will never recommend or return to Off the Grill ever again . I eat here on a regular basis. I have had their chicken breast, steak tips, burger, baked potato, veggies, fries, and desserts. Service is really good - staff is friendly and sometimes will give you extra of something if you leave something off that normally comes with your order. For example when I get a baked potato with sour cream only they give me extra sour cream since I order with no butter. You also get a free sweet tea with any carry out order. I have only had my order incorrect once in 10+ years, and they were quick to correct it and give me a credit. Their baked potatoes are huge - many times that fills me up for lunch. The only downsides are there is only a couple of uncomfortable seats if you would like to eat in, their fries portions are small and their desserts are very small for the price. I was surprised about their desserts and fries since otherwise the portions are very large! The chicken, tips, burger, veggies and fries are very flavorful and seasoned really well. There is no need to add steak sauce or even salt and pepper. All in all, you will spend a little more than average for your take-out meal with sides, but it is well worth it since the quality is definitely better than your average take-out. read more

This was my first time ordering and to say the least I have never been treated so rudely when calling to check on my order that was supposed to be at my home in in 40 to 45 mins! The rude man I don't know if he was the manager or not should have been up front if they were behind! My order wasn't even on the way and it had been already waiting 40 minutes! My order was over $25 and was not delivered in a timely manner and manager had a I don't care about you being a new customer attitude about when I would be getting my food! The salads are good but that doesn't make up for horrible customer service like my wife and I experienced after our last meal delivery. I had a problem with the order and called in to let them know there were items missing, the meat was over cooked (for the second night) and the baked potato was undercooked. The person who answered handed the phone to the manager who was rude, disrespectful, really didn't seem interested in listening and repeatedly and loudly spoke over me during mid-sentence as he continued to ask his driver if the order was "complete" despite my telling him meat was missing from the salad---implying I was not being honest (indirectly calling me a liar). When I told him the meat was over cooked his reply was "must have been too close to the baked potato, it happens, oh well". Never an apology for the order being unsatisfactory. I read several of the other reviews and last April there was one similar to mine. Like the one in April, my experience included a lack of follow up from the restaurant and it was very obvious I was a dissatisfied customer. There are several good options when eating out or wanting delivery. my entire office ordered from this office...most paid cash...one paid by crdit card....when the driver got here he charged entire order in cash...when we realized the mistake we called back and spoke to the rude old man that says he owned the place...advised him what the situation was...said that i was a liar and the driver said we insisted on him taking the extra money for a tip and he would believe his driver over us because he has known him all his life....i would never give an $11 tip on top of delivery charge for a 30.00 bill...what happened to the customer being right or at least being given the benefit of the doubt??? the entire office building i work in has agreed we will never never ever order from there again...i wouldnt be so upset but this is not the first issue we have had with this hole in the wall company who is more interested in getting tips then keeping loyal customers happy......the food is over cooked and dried out anyway... so i guess we are not missing much...i am just flabergasted by the way this old fart called me a liar........if you do order from this company i would not pay in cash that way there is a paper trail and they dont make their money by screwing customers..... read more
