This spot is literally around the corner from my house, but I never thought to stop in because I assumed it was just another typical convenience store takeover. I finally decided to give it a try and ordered the catfish once, and I've been back three times in the same week for the exact same thing--it's that good. However, I'm frustrated with the service. I call in my order each time, hoping to pop in and out quickly, but it never works out that way. Every time, I'm told how long it will take, but when I arrive, I still end up waiting longer than promised. One time, I even sat in the parking lot, ordered over the phone, and told the young lady I was already there waiting. She said it would be ready in ten minutes, but after 15 minutes, I went inside and still had to wait another 10 minutes. While the food is decent (it's hard to mess up fried catfish), my last experience was disappointing. I ordered the loaded baked potato with shrimp, and it was awful--no flavor at all, and the potato wasn't fully cooked, leaving hard chunks under the bland toppings. I tried adding my own seasonings at home, but it didn't help. I'm taking this as a sign to improve my eating habits and add more veggies to my diet, which they don't offer much of here. If greasy, flavorless food is your thing, this is your spot. I can see why people miss Vernon's, but since I don't eat meat, it wasn't much help for me anyway. read more

I placed an order online and I thought it would be ready by the time indicated. Once I arrived I had to wait a bit. The inside is very clean, more of a cafeteria set up for seating and the staff is very friendly. It must of taken time to cook certain parts of my order so it reminded me of my time in the Bahamas. #IslandTime. I personally had the Chicago Fish Chicken - Rice Plate. The portion size is pretty huge. I was able to break that order into 3 separate meals. I ate a piece of the Catfish Nuggets on my drive home and it was so good! WOW. New favorite restaurant. I had never been, let alone heard of this place but I cannot wait to go back. My friends and I ordered the T-Bone steak combo, Honey BBQ wings and fries, and catfish filet with 3 chicken wings and fry combo- all for under 40 dollars. The T-bone steak combo came with a baked potato and Texas Toast and was mouth watering. Along with the T-Bone, the catfish filet was one of the best I've had in a long time. It was perfectly buttery and pulled apart so smoothly. The fries were also very crispy and seasoned very well. The price point was very reasonable and the service was great as well. The clerk was very kind and responsive. It took roughly 15 minutes for our food to come out in the drive thru and was thoroughly worth the wait. Can't wait to return soon. read more

The food was horrible I ordered the Chicken Mix and the Catfish dinner. The Catfish was Drenched in so much grease that it made me throw up and so sick, I just called and they said stop in and they would give me new one. I am like no thank YOU. The Chicken was way over cooked, it said it was mixed I got two burnt Chicken Legs and Two burnt Chicken Thighs. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. NO offer for a refund at all. We were visiting from out of town. The weather was bad and we decided to just order Doordash. This place was in the "popular places". I was very skeptical, especially when I was the prices. The food was great, and quantities were very large. I ordered the Tbone and grilled chicken combo for only like $12! Whatever the marinade was was delicious! I did take 1 star off because the order was clearly going to a hotel, and there was no silverware or napkins in the bag, which is irritating. Wow what a surprise this was. I was skeptical when I ordered a 10 piece leg and thigh meal from them because how could a 10 piece meal that cost $10 be good... But I was more than pleasantly surprised. I only got through 5 pieces for dinner and have plenty left over for tomorrow's lunch too. I could tell the food was not cooked to order and had been sitting for a while. The ends of my fillets were crunchy and inedible and the French fries were extremely soggy.
