Not coming back to this place. I return my matcha because I told them it seems like they use fresh milk, I'm lactose intolerance and it's not a joke. The cashier grabbed my glass and bring it to the barista. The barista came out from the bar with the same glass stating he personally made it with an oat milk. I felt embarass to force it and took back the matcha and finish it. 30 minutes later when I came back to my office, my stomach started to react. Then few minutes later, I started having diarrhea and lightheadedness. As I came home from work, I have to go to the toilet 2 more times. I'm not sure if the barista will get charge that's why he wants me to take back my matcha instead of creating a new one without question. Or maybe he really made it with an oat milk but expired. If my tummy didn't get better, I have to report this restaurant to the city. Bread served super cold. I don't know but they didn't offer to warm it up. I'm not going back. The croque madame was soft and soggy. The bread was not toasted on both sides. Only the outside of each slice saw the flat top briefly, so the inside of each remained soft and untoasted, and the whole thing became a soft mess. Then topped with a petite xs egg. The side salad was dressed well. The hot coffee came in a tall plastic soda cup. The coffee wasn't very hot, thankfully I guess, otherwise it would have been hard to carry to the table. There was a bottle of half&half for public use. You have to touch the top to remove it, to pour the creamer out, then touch the top again to close it. Gross. Everyone was very friendly. But it was no one's job to to wipe down the tables and chairs. I tried bussing my own plate and cup, but both trash bins had plates and cups piled on top, by other customers who bussed their own serveware. There was nowhere else to place my plate and cup. The breakfast here is good! A good bite to grab on the go or even to sit inside and do some work. The ham croissant is delicious and the bacon burrito is very good too. The drinks were okay -- iced matcha w. vanilla and iced vanilla latte were too sweet. We asked for them to be remade, and they still tasted not so good. I don't think I would order a latte again, maybe I would order a different type of coffee and see if it would be better. The atmosphere is really nice, the music is a perfect level, and there are lots of tables and seating available. Parking is always tough in pasadena, with side street 1 hour or 2 hours parking. Yesterday my daughter invited me to Oh La La for breakfast. We were seated by the hostess at 11:07. We sat down and our waitress came to take our order about 10 minutes later. I ordered the traditional ham and egg quiche with fries and my daughter ordered the Shakshuka. People that were seated next to us on both sides and in front of us were seated after us and ordered after us were all getting their order before ours. They were all finishing up their food while my daughter and I sat there for an hour and 15 minutes waiting for our food. We asked several of the waitresses including ours what was the delay with our food? They said that they overcooked my quiche. The quiche is already made and just needs heating, so why would it take so long to get me another quiche. Finally after so much delay and frustration, I asked to speak to the manager, instead, they send me over a waitress that claims that she is in charge. I didn't believe it for one minute. I think that the manager didn't want to deal with it all. I told her that if our food wasn't out in 5 minutes, we would be leaving. I swear my daughter and I felt like we were invisible. We were ignored and not served like other customers. Finally, after threatening to leave the restaurant, our food comes out. We were so hungry by this time. Even being so hungry, my quiche was dry and tasted gross. It was the worst quiche ever. I hardly ate any of it. We ended up leaving there and going for lunch at Cava. I will never return to this place! I wish that I could give it zero stars!!! It is a disgrace to be called a French bakery. The worst service I have ever experienced in my life. I finally came to try their chocolate croissants on a Saturday morning in early July. We arrived 30 minutes early to line up instead we stayed in the car since my sister and I was only ones there. By 7:45am, more people arrived and we lined up. Once inside, there was a display of chocolate croissants, regular croissants, cream puffs, and cookies. The staff was nice and helped with our order. There was plenty of tables to sit inside and a water station. Once I took a bite, it was buttery and flaky with 2 bars of chocolate. Nice addition to the Pasadena community! I remember when this location was a Lovebirds Cafe. It's nice to see that it's a French bakery and cafe. There are some really typical French pastries and to go Jambon du Beurre. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich online along with a pain au chocolat. The pain au chocolat was good sized, flakey on the outside and very flakey and light on the inside. I can't say it tastes exactly like the pastries in France but it's a very very close version. The chicken salad sandwich can be customized and it featured shredded chicken which is my preferred version. It was blown away at how large the sandwich is. The bread was sliced from a large loaf and was grilled. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and the chicken salad was not too wet or runny. I was impressed with the quality of the bread (baked on the premises) and am looking forward to trying other menu items. Having an online ordering option was a plus! I went at 2 pm and it was empty but there were still baked goods and to go sandwiches available. I like the small but pretty authentic menu. Didn't realize this place was featured in the LA Times. I mostly was tired of going to crowded cafes in downtown Pasadena and decided to check this spot out as a result. I came in at around 10:30 on a weekday and there was still plenty of croissants and seating. I tried the pain au chocolat and without knowing this place was known for their croissants, I could tell it was above the cut. First you could see they had an actual baking station and second the flakiness of the pastry was perfect. It's soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and buttery throughout. I came in extra hungry so I devoured it in seconds. I also tried their BLT which was pretty standard minus the fact the bread was made in-house. I spent a few hours here working. There's Wi-Fi, people making quiet conversation (actually overhead the table next to me talk about how they're liking the place and they're from France), and overall pleasant vibe. I imagine on weekends this wouldn't be a good working spot, but weekdays it's nice. Parking is tricky. You can probably find two hour parking if you're lucky and multiple hour parking if you're willing to walk some distance for it. There's a nearby parking structure, but it's pricy. I think next time I want to come first thing in the morning to try things out. For people a little nervous by the other reviews where people talk about how often they run out do things, remember this place is relatively new so give it a chance and some time to get adjusted. Great experience! I was dining solo for brunch and had the potato gravlax and it was delicious - paper-thin sliced baked potato topped with salmon, capers and a mild sauce. I was sat quickly and my server was super friendly. I accidentally left my credit card on the table and when I returned 20 minutes later, I locked eyes with my server, she said "I got you," and came out with my card immediately. I've come here twice and not sure that I'll be back again. The first time, I came for the croissants in the morning, but they were sold out and wouldn't be restocked for 40 minutes. Disappointing since that was supposed to be one of their strengths and I came early. Ended up going for the lemon tart and lemon choux pastry. Both were good, but definitely overpriced. When I finally did try their chocolate croissant, I compared it to one from CAR Artisanal Chocolate and thought the latter place was far better. Food and pasties were good but the service was so horrendous. I have never been so ignored at a place in my life. My 2 young kids and I were sitting in the corner table and after waiting a whole 25 minutes, I finally flagged our waiter down. The table next to us got there after us and got their order, drinks and finished their pasty before our waiter even acknowledged us after flagging him down. I was craving for croissant and came across to Yelp and found this little pastry store. Store was clean. The display was well organized. Staffs were nice and friendly. The variety of food was very limited. Price was on a higher side. After ordered, I got my table sign then found a table immediately with my big group of family. After a first bite of the Nutella croissant, I absolutely hated it. It's refrigerated cold and greasy. The large latte was not really a large in the common standard that served in a glass, tastes was good. I returned my Nutella croissant and requested a regular as exchange. The lady in the register gladly exchanged for me but didn't offer anything extra because I paid more. The moment was kind of awkward, after I said "thank you very much" with no response from the other side. The regular butter croissant was way better because it's in room temperature, at least not cold. We walked down the street to a different pastry store after this and had a way different texture croissant to compare with. read more

We finally made it at Oh LA LA and lucky that they had 2 plain croissants and chocolate croissants and some ham and cheese. We absolutely loved the croissants wow so fresh, crispy, buttery and OMG THE LAYERS of the croissant was amazing. We met Morgan and she was so nice to come out and meet with us along with her fiancé Tristan and Dominque. Tristan makes all the breads and Morgan makes all the croissants and desserts. The Raison d'etre of OH LA LA for me has always been the absolute French-ness and Super quality of their Croissant. Yes they serve a big variety of Viennoisserie, American style huge cookies (the chocolate pecan is delicious) and Breads. But it is the Croissant that will always bring me back here. I remember the line i stood in when OH LALA first opened only to be told the limit was 1. Yes one Croissant. But boy was it sinful! I was in Pasadena on May 31 AM and dropped into this store already drooling for a big fat, buttery Croissant. But alas: the quality, at least today, was very far removed from Excellent. When i pulled this C apart there was no evidence of butter. You should be able to pull a real Croissant apart much like your stretch Mozzarella on a Pizza. The layers of Butter give a properly made Croissant elasticity. Sadly, along with the fact that this Croissant was underbaked evidence by its light bake color was like a Grocery store variety. Major production issues. On top of it all the coffee was bitter and had sat in the pot too long. Say what you want about Starbucks but they do throw a lot of coffee out rather that serve it beyond it's shelf life. On the positive side: the Choco Pecan cookie is huge and delicious reeking with real chocolate flavor and baked just right: crunchy outside and cakey in the interior. What has happened here? Also: the physical plant looks worn and uncared for. Now there is no reason for this. Sad day for me at Oh La La. read more

I came here when it first opened and arrived around 9ish there was already a long line and they ran out of everything. So I went again the next day arriving around 7:45am and there was already a long line with people inside ordering their items. While standing in line I was hoping and praying that they do not run out of items again...I finally made it to the front and they still had a lot of croissants and was refilling the case as they were running out. I got the regular croissant, the chocolate almond croissant, the almond croissant, the pain au chocolat croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, an orange blossom and a regular baguette. FYI I felt the croissant tasted better when they were toasted to give it that little crunch as the croissants were kinda smushy/stale like the ones you would get at Costco...not sure if it was because there was too much filling, not baked through or the butter. Here are my opinion: Ham and cheese croissant: this one I had to toast it. You can see all the layers on the outside and the inside such a beauty! The bottom looked undone but I think that was because of the cheese. But this was one of the better tasting croissant. Pain au chocolat: this one I did not toast it. This is one of the bigger pain au chocolat I've seen and the chocolate is covered. As other pain au chocolat I seen they are a little smaller (like the size of the ham and cheese croissant) and you can see the chocolat. The layers inside was a beauty. I was pretty good. Regular croissant: the outside felt hard after cutting it you can see the nice layers, but it kinda felt a little stale. So I toasted the croissant and it tasted better. Regular baguette: it was super hard...kinda hard cutting through the baguette. Toasting made it taste a little better. The outside tasted kinda like stale not crunchy and the inside was really soft and a little dense. Chocolate almond croissant: it felt pretty heavy the top layer just came off. After cutting it you can see some of the layers but it looked undone and the layers were just kinda sticking together not sure if that is due to the butter or almond paste mixed with the chocolate. It was okay, however I am happy that the almond paste did not taste artificial. Almond croissant: it felt pretty heavy. After toasting it and cutting into the croissant you can see the layer but it was all smushed together and again I am not sure if that is due to the amount of almond paste or the butter or if it was undone. It tasted okay, however again I did like that it did not taste like artificial almond. Orange blossom: i thought there was going to be some filling inside but it was just a piece of bread with some kind of flavoring, like a rose. It did not taste like orange. This was my least favorite I took like two bites and threw the rest away. It was bad! The total including tax and tip was $85.86. I thought this place was okay there are better baguette and croissant places out there (i.e. pinwheel, proof bakery, sugarbloom bakery and others). I might go back to try their drinks and the breakfast/lunch items. read more

Went to the Jazz night event and it was pretty fun! The place is gorgeous, the food was delicious and authentic French. They had other more "American" options as well. There was an error in our bill so they were very kind to remove all our drinks from the bill for the inconvenience. That's the way to keep customers happy. It felt like a brunch place that just started to serve dinner to do some extra business, but didn't fully commit because hey, let's see how it goes first. The place is understaffed for a dinner restaurant. No hostess at the front door so stood awkwardly for a while because there were no servers around. Only saw two servers and one bartender. Kitchen was slow. They make you pay using a QR code which charges you a "convenience fee" for using the online payment portal. First time I have ever seen that at a restaurant. For the food... Beef Tartar was flavorless. Lasagna really had potential. Thin layers of pasta with lots of cheese. Problem was that it was cold. It saddens that the whole experience was so disappointing because I was so looking forward to eating here. read more

The employee that was helping us out clearly had a cold because she kept sniffing, coughing and sneezing. The almond croissant was good, nothing crazy. The cookie croissant was very very and stale. The lemon blueberry croissant was absolutely terrible. We literally took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. the ham and cheese croissant just felt bland and old. And the latte tasted like burnt coffee. The place was clean though and I liked the windows open to the bakery where you can watch the bakers. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my daughter had the fried chicken, both were flavorful. On the rilled chicken sandwich the chicken was too small for the bread. The latte was very yummy :) The ordering style is slightly confusing. It seemed like for pastries you ordered from the person behind the glass, while you'd go to the register to order anything from the kitchen. Would be nice to order all in one place.
