Great find! The French flour really makes a difference in the quality of these pastries. The ham and cheese croissant was tasty. I definitely recommend asking them to warm it up to melt some of the cheese before eating. The star of the show was the almond croissant. Not only was pastry flaky and fresh, they STUFF IT with almond paste, making each bite as delicious as the last. For the chocolate almond croissant -- same, but with chocolate. Finally, I tried the raspberry mascarpone tartine, which was very good as well. The raspberry spread was very tart but well balanced with the creamy sweetness of the mascarpone. But don't take my word for it. My partner is from France, and when I asked what he thought, he said it was "ok" -- if you know French people, that means "phenomenal" in English. Delicious food and nice coffee! The avocado toast was piled high with yummy toppings, micro greens, pickled red onions, etc. Although when I initially opened the box I thought the portion was small (the toast was kind of laughably small) - there were 2 slices per portion, and the toppings were really piled on there, so after finishing it I was actually satisfied. We got a couple of cookies as well, and they were good, but a little too burnt/crisp around the edges for my liking. Iced coffee drinks and chai were delicious. We ordered to-go, and my only minor complaint is the sticker that they use to cover the top of the coffee drinks. It is so hard to peel off to be able to drink it! I tried puncturing my straw through it but no luck. Ended up peeling off the giant sticker and spilling a bit of coffee in the process. Saw a reel posted on California Bucket Lists for this place and just had to visit since all of the foods showcased (pastries, pasta, zucchini flowers, salads, etc...) looked so good and the space looked so inviting with the floral accents. It's a cute cafe with a relaxed vibe. We made a quick reservation for an early 5pm Saturday dinner. Turned out, reservations were not needed since it was not crowded and it was more like an "order at the counter, grab a table number, and seat yourself" type of restaurant (at least for the dinner crowd). Parking: Only street parking but no problem on a late Saturday afternoon. Probably harder to get during their breakfast/brunch hours. Customer service: friendly and accommodating (more on that later...). Food: Since we went mid/late afternoon, all of the pastries from the morning were pretty decimated (I was looking forward to buying some pastries for breakfast the next morning). I thought the pastries would be fully stocked all day. Another bummer was that a couple of the items we wanted to order were not available. I was so looking forward to ordering the fried zucchini flowers with whipped burrata (unavailable) and my daughter wanted to order a pasta dish but pastas were unavailable until 5:30pm (I guess that's when they start to make the fresh pastas?). Enough for an entree for 1 person or side salads for 2 people. - Fried chicken sandwich with french fries (3.5/5): Fried chicken was dark meat (due to me biting into the cartilage - which I don't like); chicken was juicy though and the components (bun, lettuce, tomato) were fresh. BUT the outside batter was salty (the juicy chicken meat helped cut through the salt a little bit). Fries were also salty and seemed to be lightly fried. - Coq Au Vin (-1/5): This dish was way too salty for my husband! I tasted a little of the dark meat (by itself) and it seemed as though the salt penetrated to the meat (e.g., the saltiness was not just from the sauce). We mentioned this to the other staff there (a nice lady who oversaw the register and also served food) and she was apologetic and happily switched out the dish for the grilled salmon. - Grilled Salmon (3/5): The salmon skin looked burnt (but perhaps, it was meant to be "blackened"?); it wasn't as salty as the chicken but the green olive sauce was also salty so my husband just ate the salmon by itself. Price: Overpriced for the sub-par very salty food we got. Came home drinking my body-weight in water! Heard about this bakery and wanted to check it out. But it was kind of disappointing. We got the almond croissant, and it was soggy and almost raw. The amount of filling in it make the croissant lose all it's crispy lamination. Half of it was inedible. The chocolate croissant was pretty good, it was very large. There is only street parking and the space inside was pretty large with lots of seating. The space and type of food they offered was much more like a Panera Bread type feel than a Parisian bakery. Went in on a Saturday, which I'd expect they'd have much more pastries to offer being a weekend when people usually like to eat out more, but when we went in at 1pm half their display case was gone & thankfully a few pain au chocolat were still available. There was some misunderstanding between my girls & I about how many pastries were for each of us & I ended up having to buy a chocolate almond croissant separately which is $6.00 + they charge you the health benefits fee (tax as they call it), even on single items! Crazy. So all in all our total comes to $38.37. I was sad to see that the serving for coffee to go is in a 12 oz being that I pay $5.50 for the drink AND charged an extra $1.00 for organic oat milk & I can drink it in 2 gulps. This was my 2nd time here & I had forgotten that they include the health benefits tax so I still included a 15% tip when paying. Honestly, tipping in CA is really a shame as I personally think it should be an option. Employees should already be paid a decent wage without having to rely on tips, and this is a bakery for goodness sake and all they're doing is bagging the pastries for you and nothing more. A star each for ambiance and service--staff were friendly enough to us but could use a better way of directing customers with a nice, friendly greeting instead of just staring at you waiting for you to say something first. Their dinner service is only for looking to diet and to lose weight. The portions are super tiny. if you order the sandwich, you get only half a sandwich. the sole fish you get is honestly a paper-thin sliver of like half a filet (which you can literally eat in only 2 bites) and the texture was quite mushy, so I'm wondering how fresh the fish really was. and of course, the sole comes with no side dish. And the chicken fricasse came with no side dish, only a side salad. I would normally offset these tiny portions by filling up on bread, but the bread we ordered consisted of only 2 little pieces of baguette and 2 little pieces of multigrain, so couldn't even fill up on Bread. I've been to other French restaurants that serve a lot more bread for free. For dinner, I would've expected to portions for be at least somewhat filling, but they were more snack-like portions and forced me to actually eat another meal afterwards to feel full. so like I said, their dinner is only for those that are looking to lose weight or are on the Atkins diet (Which is ironic for a French Restaurant) I don't think they would get many repeat-customers for dinner with the tiny portions they served. I know I wouldn't go back for dinner since I'm not on a diet. Sadly, they (like so many other French restaurants that end up failing in America) don't understand the key to getting repeat-customers in America, which is to be as generous as possible. Stingy portions might sound like a money saver, but end up costing the restaurant more in the long run in lost customers. Also, the ambiance was kind of weird. Maybe they should've played a little background music when the restaurant was nearly empty? And I've never been to a restaurant where staff end up on their laptops during meal service, which I have nothing against, but does give off a weird vibe (as if to say "I'm too distracted/bored to come greet/introduce new customers"). Restaurants usually have a hidden break room for that and we are in the 21st century now, so whipping out a laptop while on the job seems kind of overkill compared to just discretely scrolling on your smartphone (Even for a customer, much less staff). read more

Congrats on your grand opening! It's not easy in LA proper to operate a brick and mortar eatery, let alone open one. So big congrats for that. Nonetheless, this is Yelp, and we've got business here. Let's review Oh La La Bakery. First, this is what everyone cares about the most: how's the food? I ordered the double chocolate cookie, chocolate chip cookie, brownie, and guitar baguette. I would have loved to have tried their croissants because they looked absolutely divine, but they had run out of them by the time I made it to the register. :( Anyway, my selection of baked goods was delicious. Come on, what did you expect? It's a French bakery! Second, this place charges a pretty penny for their stuff. $4.50 for a regular croissant. $5.50 for a croissant with chocolate and almonds. I paid $23 for everything I bought. Is that reasonable? Depends on what "reasonable" means to you. I care about investing in small businesses. I care about quality over quantity. That's me. So the price was reasonable to me. You gotta do you, beau! Third, the service. The staff we interacted with were friendly and patient. However, there was some confusion about what items were left over and which were sold out by the time we made it to the register, which added to our wait time. Speaking of which, we went to the grand opening and stood in line for about 45 minutes. We were asking for it though, because it is the grand opening. Lastly: ambiance. The place is a bit sterile and not the coziest in my opinion. And the window displays facing the street view were a bit sparse. But it wasn't a kill joy. The bathroom, however, was something like a gas station pit stop- obviously no upkeep of it. But again, I get it with them being so busy how easy it would be to overlook bathroom upkeep. It's still important though, and that's why I'm giving this place -1 star. Now, you didn't ask for it, but here's my two cents/unsolicited advice to the owners: 1) bathroom upkeep. That matters. For the price you pay for the French bakery experience, the bathroom can't be overlooked (especially when you've got patrons waiting in line for more than 30 minutes); 2) on busy days (like the grand opening), make announcements down the wait line wrapping around the building about items having run out, so by the time folks get to the register they're not upset about it, and they know what to expect. Went on Sunday for a lunch date and I got the jambon beurre, latte, and split a chocolate almond croissant, which was very flavorful with various textural components: buttery, crisp layers, appropriately sweet frangipane, smooth Nutella-like chocolate cream, and thinly-sliced crunchy almonds on top, dusted with sugar. A note on the frangipane: I'm not usually a fan of this as it may sometimes taste like almond extract overkill, but this was not the case. It tasted custardy and you can see the ground almonds that were cooked well. The pastry was very satisfying and hit the spot between sips of my latte which warmed my hands. Be sure to get your latte unsweetened to balance out the sweetness of your pastry. Do not worry if you're a coffee lightweight: their latte is smooth and not bitter. And, if you are wondering, yes, we couldn't wait to eat the pastry first! This will be a very nice memory whenever I think about returning. I really enjoyed the jambon beurre although keep in mind the baguette is chewy and on the denser side (vs. other lofty baguettes you may have tried) than you might expect, while maintaining a subtle signature crust. You'll feel satisfied. The online price of the sandwich seems slightly higher than the dine-in price, so I recommend you dine-in and tip well. My dining partner ordered the breakfast burrito with egg whites to make it vegeterian-friendly and a chai, which strangely tasted more like a spiced hot cocoa. That was a bit of a disappointment. You be the judge! The burrito was visually appetizing with red peppers in it and served with green salsa. We liked that they have other options that were not typically French but definitely catered to what's popular in town. The servers and other employee were very courteous and the space is not much different than its former Love Birds incarnation. We did not wait long for our lunches to arrive. We are definitely happy to have a new, spacious bakery in town to enjoy new sumptuous pastries while passing the time a bit out from the rain. We will be back to try more of their other pastries. Tip: Keep in mind they can sell out of all the tempting pastries if you arrive too late after the lunch rush. That's what I learned the first time I tried to stop in for a quick treat. What a huge disappointment... while the food was okay .., pricey but okay the service was unbelievably awful , first the server wanted to take our order when clearly not everyone had arrived, then once we were ready to order could not get a servers attention to take our order , ended up going to the counter and asking for someone come ... our food order was taken but not a drink order .., oh well we stuck with water , the manager or possibly owner stood beside me talking loudly with the next table - every time I turned my head his butt was right there ... in the 90 minutes we were there he continued chatting with that one table ignoring everything else that was going on , at one point he and two of the four servers were all attending this one table , an older gentleman kept trying to attract the attention of a server with absolutely no result - as one of the servers left the table leaving another server and the owner/ manager still paying attention to this group I managed to get her attention and tell her that another paying customer needed help.
