Popped by since my French friend had said they had really good bread and croissants. I came around noon which was late for the pastries, there were no more almond croissants or vanilla choux pastries. The servers were super attentive and a few different ones asked if I wanted anything. Took a peek at their mains (surprised the bacon burrito was cheaper than the veggie burrito), but decided I still wanted a croissant and got one of the ham and cheese ones left at the pastry display counter. If not eating immediately, I highly recommend popping it a air fryer (or oven or microwave) to heat up and melt the cheese a bit. The croissant was beautifully buttery and flaky, so much so that I felt I destroyed it by cutting into it instead of just taking a bite. The ham and cheese were evenly distributed, and every bite got a bit of everything. It might be a bit hard to see from the road, since it's tucked in a bit to allow for a patio area. Street parking by it is your best bet. I'll be sure to visit earlier next time, and maybe will get a loaf for home! read more

I REALLY wanted to like this place (I've been dying for a replacement for Bianaca on the Westside for a while--we just refuse to deal with Westside traffic and crime at this point). In fact I wanted to like it so much that I came four times trying to be convinced that it was our new favorite spot. Unfortunately, this just was not the case. First off, the biggest issue is that each time we have gone (roughly after 1 PM on weekdays) they are almost completely sold out of pastries. I can appreciate that there is demand but if you are consistently sold out hours before closing that means management is not doing a good job of planning. It's not easy to find parking and sometimes we walk over from Uovo or Granville and they are totally sold out of everything in their pastry case. The few things we have been able to snag across those four visits just weren't that good. The croissants were okay but Car down the street is better. The monkey pull-apart bread was hard as a rock and not enjoyable at all. The choux was sunken and hard. The cookies were mediocre at best. The one thing I liked, a gooey lemon merengue tarte, is apparently no longer available on weekdays and only available on weekends. Seriously?! I will say the customer service has been excellent. We've been offered free treats when I expressed disappointment at yet again another visit with almost no offerings available. I appreciate the attempt to make it right but the thing is the free treats were just not very good. My daughter and fellow foodie basically said we needed to give up and call this place a loss. It's a big cafe with French style breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. I ordered a lot of items in order to try them out. 1. Grilled Marinated Chicken sandwich - 9/10 My favorite. The sandwich had a lot of vegetables and there was salad on the side. 2. Stracciatella and Grilled Peach salad - 7/10 The salad was good. It was my first time trying a white looking salad dressing that I'm not used to. 3. Burrata and Grilled Asparagus toast - Interesting. 7/10 I got this because I didn't want to get regular avocado toast. It was good. I just wasn't used to eating this type of toast. 4. Margherita Pizza - Good. 7/10 Huge slice. 5. Focaccia - Good. Huge slice. 7/10 6. Orange Blossom Fougassette - Good. Huge pastry. 7/10 7. Lemon Tarte - I'm not a fan of marshmallow-looking cream on top but I like the lemony taste of the tarte. 8. Chocolate Croissant - Good. 7/10 I felt the bread was pretty thick. 9. Brioche Roll - 10/10 Coconut slices on the outside and Passion Fruit sauce inside. Surprisingly, this was one of my favorites. Originally, I thought the inside was going to be really sweet but it wasn't at all. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I love this pastry. 10. Really enjoyed my breakfast here! Found the cafe on Yelp and couldn't be happier with it. It's roomy and open, with really cute decor. Both the savory and sweet breakfast items were fabulous, as well as their iced tea. The plain coffee is infused with another flavor (we couldn't put our finger on what it was), so if you're a coffee purist, keep that in mind. I ordered a weekend special only to be told later that the special didn't start till an hour later but rather than refund me my money they told me that they were making it from scratch just for me. This place is cute and has some pretty tasty treats. The food is also great. However, there are a few things here that just do not make any sense. Charging $1 for butter and an additional $1 for Jam seems a little ridiculous. I would expect to not be charged for these items if I order a plate that contains toast to begin with. Perhaps disclosing that these items aren't included while we are ordering would be great! Nothing worse than sitting down and receiving your meal only to be told I would need to pay if I want butter/Jam. I'll admit the non-rsvp setup had me concerned about seating (it was a meeting, planned a month in advance afterall) however the dining area size and the ample seating quelled all concerns. Flow is perfectly designed with the La Marzocco and coffee station first on the left in the door and seen from the front window. After that, you have the breads and the bakery case, a list of the day's fresh items, the friendly helpful staff, with whom all the order is fulfilled, and finally the register for all charges upfront, you are subsequently handed your order number and your table choosing process is next. Serve yourself some water glasses from the water station in back, and before you know it the foods arrive. Fresh and delicious foods, greens, egg dishes, and of course the emphasis on the pastries. I only came here because of LA times featured their grand opening, and their croissants can't be missed. I basically had to wait for over an hour for their new batch, which I don't mind, but I was DISAPPOINTED! The croissant overly baked charred the bottom and it was chewy. For the price, it didn't meet my expectations for a good quality croissant. If you want to compare, try CRÈME Bakery in Claremont. Beware! We just bought some pastries from here, they are ok. IMO they don't warrant the price point. Regardless, check your receipt! They are currently adding a "health benefit tax" to orders. We inquired as to what this "tax" is. According to the cashier, it's not a tax. It's a service charge this business is adding to pass on the cost of providing health insurance to their employees on to customers. Ok, so it's a fee for overhead that you would think is already baked into the price of the pastries. But this is not a tax! Taxes are levied by governments, not by businesses. after so much anticipation to visit I was heartbroken with the results. First, the service was not the best. The cafe is self seating and for Sunday Brunch plans it wasn't the most accommodating. Most guest there were just on their computers. When ordering food the process was quick and easy. But the cost does not equate to the food amount given. I paid around 15 dollars for the French toast and only was given one slice. The matcha latte was also not the best. Lastly, the bathrooms . God if I would've seen them earlier I would've walked straight out. It was flooded and the toilet was clogged (like a port-a potty bad). Mind you I was only there for a less than an hour. The cafe wasn't busy enough to excuse the lack of cleanliness. This will unfortunately be my first and last visit. read more

Great customer service, but their pastries are just off. Everything taste different than what they should. I can't explain it. Got a croissant, and it was off. I got a chocolate chip cookie, and it was not good. Sad to say, the only thing I really enjoyed was the side salad that came with my food. I got sourdough bread to go, and it was made with very dark flour . The bread was dark, and it was baked too dark as well. It does not taste like sourdough bread. Then I asked at the register if they had croissants to make croissant breakfast sandwiches and they said they did so I ordered that... 30 minutes later my food shows up and in fact, my croissant breakfast sandwich was NOT a croissant sandwich instead they used Brioche bread. The space and food were great. Staff was kind. I got a flat white and the baristas clearly know what they're doing! The espresso was dialed in and the milk was steamed perfectly. This location used to be a LoveBirds. It was one of my favorite spots to get breakfast. Today I went in for some breakfast and ordered a veggie omelette. I asked for bacon sausage to be added to the order but neither was included in my omelette. I paid 6 dollars extra for additions that they did not include in my meal. I posted the receipt and a picture of the omelette that missing the protein I requested and paid for. This is my first time to the newly remodeled and owned Oh La La, which used to be Lovebirds. It was completely packed and filled with a lot of laughter and conversation. The menu is great and the croissants and pain au chocolat in the display cases were huge! I enjoyed a lovely, oat milk Matcha latte to go as I was just passing by, and couldn't resist a loaf of the cranberry walnut bread to take home. The owners are French and very busy talking to customers and making sure that everyone's needs are taken care of. I had a quick talk with Thomas and could practice my French, which was lovely! He was very friendly as were the rest of the folks in Oh La La! Even though there was a long line, it moved very quickly, and the ambience was lovely. I brought a couple home and made a ham and cheese sandwich at home, which my kids enjoyed so much. Nothing like other reg. Croissants I've tried from really popular bakeries here in the La area. I would come here again! Here's what I got: - Big Breakfast Sandwich: this was delicious!! I would come back just for this. The chipotle aioli was good and the hashbrown in it was so crispy & seasoned, delicious! - Monkey Bread: this was really good, I would get again. - Almond Chocolate Croissant: I would skip this next time. I normally love almond & chocolate croissants, but this was soggy for some reason, I think there was so much almond paste that it made it feel soggy?
