What isn't good here! My favorite sushi place including their sister store in Lakewood I Luv Sushi. I especially like how kind everyone is and how fresh everything tastes. My favorites are the 911, sumo, fantastic, 10OC, and the extreme crunchy roll. Parking can be an issue and they don't take reservations. Usually busy so come early or be ready to wait. read more

I have to say, Sunrise of Second Street is something everyone has to order here. I am usually not a fan of rolls, but this one is an exception. They have a lot of other neat rolls that combine various fruits. Not authentic in a great way. How could you go wrong with mango and jalapeno in your sushi roll? The only gripe I have is the parking. I love this place! They have Happy Hour daily that starts at 5 o'clock so come early to get a parking spot and a seat. Everything is unbelievably cheap and it tastes so good! My favorite is the SOS! Yum! Great fusion sushi! I've been looking for the best sushi in Long Beach and I have been putting off going into this place even though it is ALWAYS packed. So, I called ahead and picked up my order and good thing too! The place was packed yet again! Now I know why. The rolls were moderately sized. A friend and I shared three rolls. Very worth it for Happy Hour menu but the quality is just ok. I dislike the Thai spin on the rolls drenched with sweet sauce. Very subjective. If you love the sweet sauces, you'll love the majority of rolls here. I just don't like that taste. As for sushi, it's good. The Seared Ono was the best on the menu. We also asked the chef for less rice on every order and he was inconsistent. We wasted a lot of rice. Worth a Happy Hour! read more

I am giving this restaurant one star for the simple mere fact that my friend and I stopped by today for a late lunch and we were told that we would have to wait for 15 to 20 min for a table when the restaurant was almost empty! We have been to this sushi place before and we like the place! The restaurant could use a facelift but nevertheless the food is good. However after this happening it will be a long time before I go back to this place! Long beach has a lot to offer when it comes to Japanese restaurants, so if a restaurant wants to have me wait for a table when I am looking at an empty house then I will go somewhere else! They did offer us to sit at the bar and we declined for the record! However they had plenty of tables open! We went to nikos sushi and were seated right away the service is excellent and the food is great! So your loss studio sushi! read more

It's a great price for all of the early bird specials that they have. I definitely recommend going during the 3pm-6pm Happy Hour specials. I walked away stuffed beyond belief with a friend and left with a $35 bill for the both of us--not bad for sushi! Very nice selection of rolls, even for the $6 roll specials! read more

Looks like a lil' hole in the wall next to a beat up hotel on PCH, but this is a Good clean sushi & beer spot. Happy hour here is a great deal. We go at least once a month for the seared tuna sushi & a $6 huge pitcher of Sapporo. Also, My mom doesn't like sushi, so she had the grilled salmon & was completely satisfied with it. Great fresh sushi. We sat at the sushi bar, and our chef Kevin handled all of our requests. The rolls were well made, and tasty. The parking lot security guard helped us find a parking spot, as the parking lot also services an old school motel. The prices were very reasonable, and an online coupon is available. read more

I went in for the lunch special and it was not good. The salad that came with the special was topped with what looks like a carrot purée. It was plopped on top with an ice cream scoop I'm sure. It tasted so bland. I got some of their rolls and the fish seemed kinda warm, not tasty, and not fresh. The best thing I had their was a large Kirin and the miso. read more

Wonderful customer service! We arrived just before opening for lunch, and instead of letting us wait outside in the heat like many restaurants will do, they opened their doors for us and took our order immediately. The yellowtail is like butter. Very good fish quality. We had the Volcano Roll, Rhythm & Blues, yellowtail sashimi, sexy girl (I think that's the name), and one other roll that escapes me. I usually really like the food here, the sunrise on 2nd is really good and the happy hour is 10-3 and another from 3-7 with pretty good deals. But they got rid of studio hour from 7-9 which had the best deals. Anyway, my boyfriend and I had pretty bad service today. We ate at the bar and no one ever asked us if we wanted drinks which we did. The sushi chef was friendly but the waitresses were all rude. read more

I stopped to grab a quick lunch and the waitress was completely dismissive.. no of refilling my tea, checking to see if everything was okay or asking to see if I needed anything although it was not that busy. There was a very strong fishy smell when we walked in that I've never smelled in a sushi restaurant in my life. (I eat a lot of sushi). The fish didn't taste fresh. Although they went back to giving better portions again, they learned they were stepping over dollars to pick up dimes when they started skimming on the portions. However, the service just keeps going down. Nice staff, maybe a little to lite on the scheduling, but the only time they seem attentive is when you asked for the check and want to pay. During most of my sushi eating experiences elsewhere, I was either drunk or in a really good mood that I didn't pay much attention to the quality of food. I could have been served pond scum wrapped in nori and raved about it. Now that I'm sober and boring I can focus all of my attention on taste. Their salmon is quite delicious, as is most of their sashimi. The majority of their rolls are ok too. The point I'm trying to make here is that none of their food made me want to "wring my shorts out" from "gushing with glee". Every now and then a roll has been overpowered by the flavor of hot sauce, hoisin sauce, and whatever other sauce they see fit to pour over their rolls. I do see lots of college aged people frequenting this place. Perhaps it's good enough for their palates. For now I shall continue to seek the ultimate and affordable sushi dining experience. read more

I don't really come here for the fresh fish rolls, but the fatty tempura ones. My favorite is the Sexy Girl (it's a tempura roll with mango and jalapeno). The Las Vegas (eel and avocado) and the 10SC roll (onions, vinegared methinks) are also pretty good stuff. The seared tuna and the jalapeno yellowtail wasn't bad at all, but kind of a lot for the price and the amount given. The rolls definitely have a lot of flavor in 'em. I've been here with a lot of not-so-fond-of-seafood friends and they really like the food. read more

I've eaten here once. I stayed for 2 1/2 hours, and enjoyed everything I had to eat. The staff was friendly, and the environment was nice. I like the themed menu as well. One of the perks of visiting this place is that here is a motel just across the parking lot. :) read more

Nothing to complain about here other than it is always packed and the parking is horrible. Lucky for me I can walk there. The Sushi is always fresh and tasty. The staff is super friendly and go out of their way to take care of everybody. If you can make it for happy hour you'll be stoked on the prices, but even if you miss it Sushi Studio is more than reasonable for what you're getting. read more
