pad thai: stir-fried rice noodles with chicken, egg, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts = $16
    Trung N.

3.5 stars We shared some noodles for lunch. Each portion ran us around $16 without any protein upgrades. I ordered the pad see ew with chicken ($16). The stir-fried rice noodles come with plenty of Chinese broccoli, egg, and chicken. I asked for my noodles to be medium spicy, though I think I prefer the taste of spicy sambal chili paste. The noodles were fine, but missing that wok hei taste. Without that char, they kinda just fell flat. I also had bites of the pad Thai with chicken ($16). In addition to the chicken, these came with eggs, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts. I found the noodles to be a tad too sour for my liking. Everything tasted as it should - serviceable, but nothing special.

Tried Elephant Thai for the first time, the pad see ew was pretty good. But, everything else was pretty mediocre. The beef in the beef salad was tough and chewy, the soup was a little bland, and the fried trout was dry but the apple salad it pairs with was really a good addition. The service was not too great considering there was only 1 other table, they weren't very attentive to our needs and took a while to wait for them to come by.

A little hole in the wall joint. Food was pretty tasty Thai/Laos. A little different than what I am used to, but, that's the beauty of trying something new, seems pretty authentic. Food: *I had some sort of spicy noodle soup (the broth was very rich in flavor but I do wish they told me it had tripe!!! Yuck, I do not like tripe!) *spicy chicken and basil (I think my husband got medium n it was a bit too spicy for him.) *beef Pad sew ew - very good! It was a little different cooked then amused or but I did like it. Spice level is very much of a Thai spice and not American. I personally like more Asian spice than the diluted American level of spice. So if you are not used to spicy food, beware and get it very mild. Tip: Close to the Miller Children Hospital.

Tried Elephant Thai Kitchen for the first time and was honestly impressed with the flavor execution across the board. We had the Drunken Noodles, Tom Kha, and Panang Curry. All three delivered. The Drunken Noodles had great wok hei with a nice kick and perfectly chewy noodles. Tom Kha was rich, aromatic, and had just the right balance of tangy lemongrass and creamy coconut. The Panang Curry was probably the standout. Deep nutty flavor with a smooth velvety texture that paired great with jasmine rice. Service was good. Staff was attentive without being overbearing and the food came out fresh and timely. Prices were a little higher than what I usually expect for Thai, but the quality and portions helped justify it. Overall, a solid spot. Flavor-forward dishes, cozy vibe, and reliable execution. Would definitely come back.

Food is really good, medium spicy is very spicy. Yellow Curry is good, the salad is also very good.

Good food and fast service! Pad See Ew and a side of sticky rice to go. It was ready within five minutes or so. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were good. My dish was a little smokier in flavor than I like but overall, it was a good experience and the flavors were good.

Originally, we were going to try to hit up Zuzu's petal, but the line was ridiculously long and the parking was a nightmare, so I decided to take her to my 2nd choice, which was Kin Long. I thought it would be a run-of-the-mill local, Thai place with food that is more homestyle and tastes slightly above average to hit the Thai food fix. Boy, was I wrong! First and foremost, they have their own parking lot, so YAY! It's starting to sound like my standards are low, but they aren't. OMG- their restroom is clean! JK. From the outside, it looked nice enough, but I was impressed when we entered. It had a comfy, modern, clean, and beachy elegance to it (the lights and that chandelier) without it being stuffy or looking disjointed in terms of interior decor. Servers were very polite and accommodating. I let my friend order since she was the guest. She ordered the garlic shrimp noodles and scampi shrimp to share, and the Thai tea drink with the ice cream bar. I ordered 3 cocktails (Jalapeno + tamarind, Lychee, and Thai tea martini) and they were all good (not overly sweet and weak sauce, but balanced, tasty, and had the right amount of buzz). We had a light lunch since we had AYCE hot pot later that evening (Mikiya - yes I'm a good host). The garlic noodles exceeded my expectations - shrimp were huge, seasoned well, and just cooked through, the noodles were broad, float, tender, and had a slight chewiness to it. The scampi shrimp were huge, tasty, succulent, and cooked perfectly (not surprised since the shrimp with the garlic noodles were so good). NOTHING WAS OVERCOOKED OR MADE ME GO.... "MEH...." and I've been to many Thai restaurants even the highly stylized kitschy ones like Farmhouse Thai in SF. The waiters were very attentive. They made their rounds to make sure waters were filled and all guests were taken care of. It helps they were also handsome too! LOL. I generally find many places nice in the competitive LA, but not nice enough for me to travel from the SGV. However, I will go out of my way to visit KL again to try the rest of their menu (drunken noodles, pork jerky, crab fried rice, papaya salad, etc.) because they left a good impression with me. Prices are reasonable and the quality of food, cocktails, clean restrooms, ambiance was coastal modern, has its own designated parking lot, and service was lovely.

They have a lunch special going on M-F with a set list of entrees (with spring roll, rice bowl, and a salad). Price point seems similar to other places. There's a few nearby which fiends have referred and raved about, but this one left a lasting impression. I love me some boat noodles and they do not disappoint. The nice thick broth with loads of meats all mixed in together. Then you have the Chinese broccoli for the perfect veggie paring. Wow, it so good. Some places cannot get their broth right which does make a major difference. Sometimes it ends up being too watery and defected the purpose. Here, the broth is perfect. Also any of their curries is excellent. This time we went with the massaman curries. Nice thick broth with peanuts, potatoes, onion and carrots in a coconut sauce. Another flavorful dish. And of course we always get the papaya salad Thai style with shrimp and peanut. There also the Laos style with fermented fish sauce and salty crab. It's quite nice too but it could be too strong of a taste for some people. The food has always been excellent. Service was always excellent with friendly staff. They're always so welcoming and attentive to their customers. A must for me whenever I'm down in Long Beach. Parking can be tricky as it's all street parking.

We ordered the Thai Boat Noodle with large noodles and didn't receive the correct noodles. When I notified the server (who didn't originally take our order), she came back with Green Curry w/ chicken, but it had no spice whatsoever. We had to flag down the waitress for a few times, and at some point, we ended up just going to the front counter because we got tired of waiting for someone to come by for us to get to-go containers. Some dishes were served correctly. The Stuffed Chicken Wings tasted like lumpia, especially with the sweet chili sauce it's served with. The Drunken Noodle w/ beef tasted good, but I found the beef to noodle ratio lacking. Overall, food was decent, but service was disappointing.

We have full kitchens in all the rooms where we're staying along with plates and all the set ups. The rooms even have dishwashers! So, I found this S T Noodle Bar near by and decided to give it a try. I kinda know what there guys like to eat, so I just ordered a bunch of food. The only request from anybody was for Pad Thai, the most common dish at all Thai restaurants. I GPS my way over and order the food. I was Khao Soy on the menu and I don't see that at too many Thai places that I've been to, so I got an order of that with chicken. Of course, an order of Pad Thai, 2 orders since I have 5 hungry people to feed. Also, I ordered the Thai coconut soup, I think it's called Tom Kha with chicken. One more noodles dish was the Drunken Noodles, it's kinda like Chinese Chow Fun, but has a more spicy flavor and basil in it. The food was all pack and bagged for me to take back to the hotel. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. All the food was really tasty and everybody was happy not to have to leave the hotel. I heard compliments on the Pad Thai and the Coconut soup. We were greeted and helped right away and got a place in the restaurant that fit us well. We ordered the veggie spring roll, tofu soup, beef pad thai and tom yum. Off the bat, the portion sizes for the tom yum and pad thai were VERY generous (from my experiences with Thai restaurants). The pad thai stood out and was absolutely delicious! The service did great with helping us out and attending to our requests. The ambiance was relaxed, and where we sat in the back was cool because there was upbeat music playing loud enough to muffle the surrounding sounds but still soft enough to have conversation at our table without needing to raise our voice. Overall, I'm glad I gave S T Noodle Bar a try! I'd recommend it!
