Ok, so to find this place, look for the motel sign! It's in the same parking lot and people would get confused because there's a "closed" sign on the motel side thinking that it's the sushi side. The sushi side is to the right and the motel is to the left. Looks a bit shady but it's all good! Mmmmmm! Sushi studio is great. It has a nice Thai mix to their sushi rolls. I like the sexy girl roll's touch of mango on it. What's even better is their happy hour deals! As a group of 10, we ordered off the happy hour menu and we are our fill. The price range will be about $22-28 for a super full and happy tummy. The rolls: each roll has about 8-10 pieces so it's perfect for a group to share. The hand rolls are abundant in ingredients and they are quite the deal. I think we ordered every single cut roll on the happy hour menu, minus the veggie roll and the monkey roll. I came here with my family of 3 on Valentine's Day around 6:30 PM. We were directed to a table immediately upon arrival and quickly noticed they were understaffed. Waiters walked by us for about 10-15 minutes before we were offered menus and had our waters ordered. After we ordered our food, all the dishes came to the table very quickly. The wait staff seemed frazzled the whole time and were constantly checking to see if items on our receipt had been delivered. Aside from being given our food, no one had checked on our table and it took the whole meal to flag someone down to let them know that one of our dishes was missing. The hostess/waitress was very apologetic and removed it from our meal. Food was decent but nothing too special. I use to come here a lot several years ago, but when I found out they were owned by the same people as I luv sushi and 39 degrees I started going to I luv sushi more because it was closer to my house... I came in three weeks ago and that's when I found out they separated from the other two. I came back again today and the food was a bit disappointing. The rolls were smaller than usual and didn't taste the same. On top of that my friend and I burned our mouths from the volcano roll I ordered, because the server didn't warn me about how hot it was. Doubt I will be returning. Came here one night with the bf and was excited to see happy hour going on. There is nothing happy about their happy hour which is still over priced sushi. Most people will probably love the atmosphere and crowd. Don't be fooled! The sushi is over-sauced to make up for sub-par fish. The chefs here use a lot of fillers and inexpensive ingredients yet jack up the prices. The chefs also have other priorities over their customers. I waited over 20 minutes to get my last roll- all the chefs were too busy pouring themselves beer and talking among themselves to make sushi. Overall: food and service sucks. Oh god, I'm eating sushi in a diner. I thought Bill had lost his mind when he suggested this place. But apparently the only person not in their right mind was me for being so judgmental. I definitely ate my words when I saw the prices. I had prepared myself to shell out a lot more since we'd missed happy hour, but apparently Infinity Hour picks up right where happy hour left off. I think it's called infinity hour because you can order an infinite number of dishes without blowing your budget. Both types of Seaweed Salad are good starters, and the Calamari Salad is decent as well. And at $3 each, why hold out? The Salmon Poke was great and I don't even like poke sauce. The Las Vegas Roll needs to be shared - fried shrimp and eel are a bit too much for one person, but one Sexy Girl Roll is never enough. Mango, mayo, and shrimp aren't the healthiest or most authentic combination, but this might be one of the prettiest and prettiest-tasting things on the menu. The Volcano Roll is over-the-top rich, as it should be. Again, if you want one, share with friends and make friends if you don't have any. No way I could stomach all five humongous pieces. But I had no problem stomaching the check. A little over $100 with all three of us so stuffed we had to take turns rolling each other out. We love this sushi restaurant. There are a handful in long beach but the quality of food and service here is a stand out. We have brought family from out of town and they were just as impressed as we were. The fish used for sashimi is consistently fresh and of high quality. The accuracy of the cuts of sashimi demonstrate the care for the detail of every bite and the vibrancy of color always amazes us. We highly recommend their tuna and salmon sashimi and the yellowtail mango sashimi. The staff treat us well every time and we are appreciative to have oho as our favorite date night go to. read more

A bit hard to locate as it seems to share the lot with a hotel. When first entering the place, the smell is not very pleasing. I had a phone order, so no change of mind at this point; otherwise I would have gladly walked away. The green mussels are okay, spicy shrimp gyoza is drenched in some sort of soy sauce and not spicy at all. The sushi filling for the shrimp tempura is so small, almost like they were prepping the smallest roll. Presentation is cute, but don't judge a book by its cover. I use to love this place until they had changed their Happy Hour menu completely. They're certainly known for their rolls and good deals that are offered throughout the day, depending on what time you come there are different specials offered. Special deals are offered from: Open - 3pm 3pm - 6pm 6pm - close For the most part there seems to always be a wait, the restaurant is usually occupied by college kids from the area. The service is okay; a very loud, fun, fast-paced environment - if it's your birthday they would bring out ice cream and do their little HBD song. My friends live right next to this restaurant, so I've seen it before. The location isn't as easy to get to, and parking really sucks! The restaurant is small, packed, and lively (loud), but it's very entertaining. The wait was short even though the restaurant is packed. The service is really quick and friendly. -Fuji Apple sake was NOT good. -American Dragon- $14 but totally worth it! It has everything in it- eel, terriyaki sauce, shrimp, avacado, crunch flakes, masago, imitation crab, onions, etc. -Incredible Roll- reminds me of Hawaiian poke but in a sushi roll! Tons of salmon packed with sweet, sour, and salty flavors. Yum! -Terriyaki chicken and tempura combo- really good! Food: 3.5 Ambiance: 3 Service: 2 This was a first for me. I've been in sushi places run by Japanese, Chinese, and Korean people. Just about everyone here spoke Thai. Interesting to me since I could understand them! Came here around 1pm on a Thursday and the tables were still packed so we were seated at the sushi bar. They do have lunch specials available, but I chose not to order from there since the available choices were the typical choices at almost any other sushi place. Instead, we ordered four items: Oh Crab, spicy tuna on crispy rice, rain roll with ono, and the 911. The 911 came out first. The tuna was very mushy and thus very appetizing to me. Not a good way to start. Next came the rain roll with ono. Much better! I'm not sure why the tuna textures differed so much between the rolls, or maybe it was because there was shrimp tempura in the rain roll, but it was a lot better. The ono added a nice kick to it. I didn't really care for the jalapeno since I already had wasabi, so I took that off. I gotta say, it tasted better without it then with it. I think it's because the citrus really came through in the roll instead of having overpowering spice. My favorite of the day by far was the Oh Crab: Soft shell crab, masago, cucumber, gobo, and Japanese sprouts inside, topped with fresh water eel and avocado. Holy crap. That was good. Probably the reason for the +0.5 star from average. The soft shell crab was fried so well and maintained crispiness, and who doesn't love eel? That, combined with the other components of the roll just made for an explosion of texture and flavor in my mouth. Unfortunately, this roll was not enough to save the meal as a whole. Apparently they forgot about the spicy tuna on crispy rice. We had to remind them twice about it. When it did finally arrive, it was pretty good, though not my favorite. The rice was crispy enough, but I got the same mushy tuna texture. A common theme on the tuna today for some reason. When we were ready to pay, I decided to put it on my credit card. After the guy swiped it, he came back with five receipts. What. The. Heck. He explained to me that he messed up swiping and only swiped a partial. So he took that amount and subtracted it from the total and swiped it again. So I had to sign two receipts (two additional ones were my copies and one was itemized). This would normally not be a big deal, but I asked him if I could just sign one, add the amount from the partial, then add the tip. He said yes. I gave that to him. He came back and told me I couldn't. We went back and forth on how I would pay and finally settled on handling it as two separate transactions, with one having 0% tip and the other having the full amount. Whatever. Total, it came out to $75. Quite steep for 4 items + 2 drinks. Especially with the tuna being off today. I'll come back with friends for a casual meal, but I'll not be actively coming here. I still prefer Sushi Imari for casual sushi and Shunka for the specialties. read more

This is my favorite sushi place. It's not authentic or anything, but it sure is yummy! My favorite rolls are the Sunrise on 2nd Street, Monkey, BFC (which is HUGE), sexy girl.... actually the only one I've tried so far that I disliked was the caterpillar roll and the "in and out" roll. Location SUCKS. It's not as shady as some people here have mentioned , but the shitty little drug motel next to it really doesn't help. Parking is awful--don't even bother with their lot, just park on the street or across the street. It's tiny, and busy, and loud (mostly college students) but damn is it good. Service is usually okay with the waitresses, but the sushi guys have ignored me more than once when at the bar. I once got seated on a corner and apparently neither guy wanted to help me (I think each guy takes one side of the bar area). We literally had to stand up to get their attention. It wasn't even that busy. Service overall has been decent most of the time. Go during happy hour, 3-6pm on Monday-Thursday. 3 of the rolls (their choice) are $6 during this time. After hearing so many good things about this place, I decided to give it a try. When you first get there... be aware that there are only like 10 parking spots... so try to find parking on the street! The place is small but has a friendly atmosphere. My boyfriend and I got two seats at the sushi bar. I noticed that there are good deals from 3pm-close which is awesome... but when looking at the menu (to see what the deals were) I was not very impressed. The special rolls didn't have a wide variety of raw fish... it was mainly spicy tuna and then tempura and things along that route. We ordered the extreme crunchy roll which was my favorite roll of the night. It was the right amount spicy with a good crunch and tasted very fresh! The next roll we got was the rain roll with ono fish on top. This one was only okay, nothing out of the ordinary. They put fresh jalapeno and garlic on top. But I wouldn't get it again. The last thing we got was the firecracker which was my least favorite. It left me with extremely fishy breath afterwards. Similar to the way fish sauce does and it wasn't very tasty. Word of advice: if you are planning on coming for the 5 - 7 menu (especially on a Saturday night)...get TO the restaurant at 4:50 or 5...maaaaybe 5:15. I came back again! I was so hungry after school I had to get me some sushi! Yesterday's special was the following: - Crunchy roll - Shrimp tempera with asparagus topped with tempera crunchy flakes. - Atlantic roll - Spicy salmon with shrimp tempera with spicy mayo and sweet sauce. They literally like microwaved the scallops and just added like mayo on top, ew. We got a total of 6 rolls and the waitress told us we can't take any home. I told her, don't worry about it. I only come here for the crazy birthday disco lights...yeah right...read on. But tonite I actually had their halibut sashimi and it was probably the freshest I'd ever had here in the LBC. Other than that, I go for the tuna carpaccio served in a pool of a miso ginger sauce and topped with fine slices of raw garlic...muah, the rock n roll hand roll which is filled with baked scallops, more sauce, and rice. Then whatever I can gorge on that has jalapenos or has the word "spicy" in it, I go for. I've always been happy with the service here, but I am also ever prepared to crawl under the table for the poor sap whose a-hole friends have informed the servers that it was their friend's birthday. At this time some select special rolls are $8 and some appetizers $2 or $5. My friend and I ordered calamari for $5. NOT WORTH IT. It was average and didn't look too appealing on the plate. There were probably 12 pieces of calamari and it was not worth the $5 compared to Kabuki's calamari during Happy Hour which is like under $5, if I recall correctly. We ordered a $16 sushi platter which came with 6 pieces of sushi and 12 pieces of sashimi according to "chef's choice." This was my first time ordering at sushi bar, so it was interesting. At first I was really confused as to what you were suppose to do because the waitress gave us the paper to order sushi, but only filled the calamari because we were suppose to order sushi from the chef? I guess that's how you do it! The chefs' work space looked pretty unsanitary--I was afraid to eat. But overall the sushi was pretty good for a little place like this. Gotta give them props for having vegetarian sushi! We tried four different rolls, all without fish. They were okay without soy sauce but even better with. I love that they use brown rice but it does tend to make the rolls a bit drier. The restaurant is attached to a motel so you can park in the motel's parking lot. We didn't have the highest expectations when we pulled into the parking lot since it seemed a little small but we were pleasantly surprised by how big the restaurant actually is when you walk in. read more

Five stars for service! All of the staff is wonderful, with very fast and friendly service, which is why we keep coming back. Growing up in Torrance around a lot of really good sushi, I can be a bit of a sushi snob and elitist. Since moving to Long Beach, there's not as much access to legit higher end Japanese style sushi. Oho caters more to casual American palates and westernized themed rolls with sauces and quirky names. I usually don't frequent these kinds of sushi places, but we are going here 2-3 times a month. Even with some of the sauces masking the fish, the fish quality at Oho is discernibly better than other local sushi places and Oho has fully capable sushi chefs that can efficiently dispatch orders to the huge number of customers. The ends of the rolls sometimes fall apart, but I don't criticize too harshly for that because the number one reason for us to come back is the fast and friendly service. It goes such a long way. The quality is good, prices are reasonable, they have a fantastic happy hour, and the entire staff is fantastic. I am happy to keep returning here. This is a great local spot to get a quick sushi fix. read more

The music was okay not too loud in room. It was very clean and smelled good. There was only one handicap parking space. The space was small enough seating, but would be difficult to seat more than one wheelchair per table may be best to seat at sushi bar and it would get in the way of servers. Yes I like too. Delicious every time! We've been coming here for years. Starting with the fun comic book menu which keeps our kids entertained during the entire visit (seriously they love it), nothing on there will disappoint. The spicy edamame, sexy girl roll, LB roll, Volcano and Snow White roll are some of our favorites. Kids love the teriyaki bowl with garlic fried rice. I like when the kids don't finish the rice and mom gets to have it for lunch the next day- just a side note. So good! Great service! I actually could not handle this roll without chugging a whole cup of water after. So stay away from this if you have a zero spicy tolerance like me :). This place gets packed! Came here to meet some friends and I couldn't find parking! I ended up having to park down the street passed CSULB campus next door. I guess a packed parking lot says a lot about the place, right? This place is tiny... large sushi bar in the middle with tables all around... people are squeezed in like sardines... it's loud, it's busy, it's dim, it's cramped... i thought, wow this place must be good if everyone's willing to tolerate all this. I find my friends parked in the far corner of the spot and lo and behold what do i see before me plastered all over the walls.... SPECIALS. TONS O' SUSHI SPECIALS. Awesome! Oh wait... it gets better.... there on our tiny lil table stands a 3' tall beer dispenser... the Chang Tower. It holds 3 liters of beer and has a separate tube in the middle for ice, so your beer is always cold... ALWAYS. And the shocker of this all... it only cost $19!! *pinch me* the sushi tasted good and arrived quickly... although, there wasn't anything that stood out to me... nonetheless, it was fresh, tasty and more importantly, cheap! oh, the karage was delicious!! sooo.... 5 sushi rolls, 2 karage plates, and 2 gyoza plates, and one lovely Chang Tower came out to about $60 for 4 people. not too shabby! yep, i'll be back! read more

This was my first time at this establishment and the hubby's second time. We went at an odd time like around 2:45pm on a Thursday the day after 4th of July and it wasn't too busy. I loved the decor and ordered some sushi and a roll. The fish was okay it wasn't bad the chefs were really nice. It wasn't my favorite place but it wasn't bad it was eh. Best sushi place I have ever been to. The sushi is always fresh and super tasty. I love the Thai fusion. I moved away about 9 years ago and just finally visited again on Tuesday after 9 years, so happy that the chef, Wally, was still there , he was now the new owner. Menu had not changed, the food is top notch, hands down best sushi ever. I'd been dreaming of Sushi Studio for 9 yrs since I moved away, so happy it still exists. Staff was super friendly, atmosphere was great!! I recommend this place to everyone. Even my friend who doesn't normally like sushi, loved it and said she would be back. read more
