The new remodel looks beautiful! We had a large group so many flavors tried. My husband enjoyed the rum raisin, which is his favorite, but said the rum was a little more subtle then he likes, but still good. Made a mental note to save room in the stomach since this area has a LOT of eateries/shops. Imagine 6-7 ice cream fanatics coming in all wanting samples. The 2 staff members were some what patient with all of us, no smiles with the service. At the end, I went with 1 scoop of banana fudge in a bowl. I did not read the reviews before arriving here as I just stumbled upon the store while I was browsing the area. All the reviews on yelp are mixed reviews and I will fall under low rating category since ice creams are outdated in taste and can't call any of this ice-cream old fashioned as it does not taste creamy at all. Save yourself the time and money, just buy ice cream at RITE AID or fast-food joint like Mc Donalds. The store does how old feel ice cream parlor, but the ice-cream did fall very short in quality and taste. I would call myself ice-cream Queen since I have the biggest weakness for it. I sampled a few flavors and nothing really tasted what its suppose to be, so I decided to grab mint chip since it was brand new and its a safe flavor. My boyfriend got vanilla caramel. My mint chip tasted very icy more than milky texture and my boyfriend ice-cream did not taste like vanilla or caramel, just tasted like plain milk ice cream. I've been here several times and in general my experiences have been very positive. The staff has always been polite and friendly and have helped people in order. I have to take a star off for the ice cream today though. My favorite flavor is Chocolate Raspberry Rum Truffle and one of the things I like about this ice cream is it has a bold flavor and you can taste the rum in it. Not today. :( Today the ice cream was so unflavorful I could taste neither chocolate nor raspberry nor rum!! What did it taste like? Cold... I had a sundae so it tasted like "ice cream" with your standard sundae toppings. Attractive presentation and I like their selection of candy, fudge and chocolate. Their ice cream is all made in-house, but something wasn't right with the batch I got. Update: The Vanilla Caramel fudge is very good! The texture is nice and smooth and the flavor is lovely, but not overpoweringly sweet. With caramel on top, the flavor ratio and interaction is very well done. Stopped in after walking around Art Fair, love the set-up and friendly greeting. Little crowded plus small space - Had toys, and art for sale which made it a little more cramped, but I cannot be a hypocrite as I bought a stuffed Baloo Bear for my granddaughter along with a couple scoops of oreo cookie in a waffle cone. Scoops were generous and the ice cream was Delicious !!! Price was good, taste was even better and scoring a stuffed bear made it a great stop. read more

Don't open til noonand two the charge you extra to use a debit/credit card my Grandson said "hey Grampy, there's an ice cream store down the street." So wE tried down there and found this GEM. First off the woman working there was delightful, second the place is newly remodeling and super cute, last but not least...the ice cream! Delicious! I was leaving ojai kinda abruptly with my parents and was like "wait dad, that's it?" He said "what else do you want to do?" I went back to the car and my mom wanted a little bit and when she ate it she lit up and her mood made a full 180, claiming that was the best ice cream she's ever had and for context we went to Italy in April. Their ice creams are mostly traditional flavors and I opted for one in their coffee ice cream. I also had their mint Oreo, which had a slight uniqueness by combining the cool and refreshing flavor of the classic mint chocolate chip with the chocolatey cookie crumble of cookies and cream. The ice cream was good. It was creamy without being too rich. The ice cream did have a little bit of iciness to it. The coffee flavor was noticeable if not particularly distinct though I did like the mint Oreo which tasted exactly like it sounds. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are okay given the generous scoops here. Ojai Ice Cream does not deliver the kind of quality or experience that warrants a special trip, but it is a satisfying enough sweet finish to a meal or day. Cute mom and pop ice cream shop. Nice selection of ice cream and chocolates. The service was a bit slow as we were behind about 8 people in line and it took a long while. Can't go wrong with Mint chip ice cream and chocolate. We didn't sample the chocolates but definitely will. They are also across the street from an amazing playground. I don't like that they say they make their own ice cream. It's a lie. I saw an employee switching out ice cream buckets and the container clearly said Thrifty's Ice Cream.
