LOL They say they close at 9pm but they should change it to say 8:30pm instead. They don't accept any orders past 8:30pm. A lot of people came in past 8:30 but they refused all of them. Their sign did say they're open until 9pm! At 9pm we were also asked to leave. Other places patiently wait for their customers to leave. Interior was good, restroom was clean. Yes yes yes!!! So found this place upon searching for a place to grab a light snack. Didn't have anything in mind but pictures showed what I thought to be shaved ice and went for it. Absolutely ended up loving this place and the treats here. First off there's plenty parking in the complex and although this place gets packed they bring our orders pretty quick. They don't have a lot of seats but we were lucky to get a table and enjoy in store. They play music videos and the decor is really nice. Prices and treats are made to order and taste amazing, I have had the OG cup twice!! The staff is super fun and helpful as well as they described what they did and how to choose items. Okrumong is a cozy and homey cafe. It sells many dessert and drink items such as snow bowls (my personal favorite is the matcha flavor), taiyaki, red bean porridge, and pastries, while with drinks it has another different large variety. So far I've tried the OG snow bowl, Matcha snow bowl, black sesame snow bowl, Oreo snow bowl, golden snow bowl, and blueberry mini snow bowl. I definitely cannot go through and describe all of them but I will for a select few. The OG snow bowl which is sweetened with condense milk and topped with red bean and two deliciously mochi mochis and obviously is the safest choice but I also think that it is the least tasty out of all the ones I've tried. In comparison to the golden snow bowl which has an abundance of nutty sesame flavor (I do not know if this is peanut free) and honey like sweetness which is an amazing melody for the snow bowls. My personal favorite would be the matcha, the condensed matcha flavor topped on the snow bowl makes the absolute smoothest mouth feel and perfect taste for matcha lovers. If you don't like red bean you could always ask for it to not be added or put on the side, but please do try the mochi as it is a chewy deliciousness. read more

Small hole in the wall place with some tasty desserts. I was craving some red bean taiyaki and this place did not disappoint. I do, however, do not think that the price point is right. It's way over priced and with that, I don't think I would come back. I'd rather just hit up Somi Somi at Del Amo mall to get my taikayi fix. But 4 stars because it was good and service was friendly. Was headed to Tous Le Jours a couple doors down and saw Okrumong was open and not busy so I decided to stop in and check it out. The cafe has a very chill vibe, would totally study/work here if covid wasn't a thing. I stopped in a bit late in the day, around 4/5 and most of their macarons were already sold out so I settled on trying their mugwort macaron and the mini black sesame poundcake. I was a bit hesitant to try the mugwort macaron since I'm not familiar with this flavor but they were out of other flavors so I took a chance and I'm not disappointed! First off, they put almost double the filling of macarons from other places and the filling is super fresh and light. Not too sweet and it's perfect to pair with coffee/tea. The mini black sesame poundcake made me do a double take. Even though it's called a poundcake, the texture is quite light, perfectly not too sweet, and not dry in the slightest but also not not too moist. Even though the price for this mini poundcake is a bit much for the size of the product, the quality of it shines through. Would definitely get again. Didn't get the chance to try their bingsoo or the taiyaki but one day since I'll definitely be back. read more

I love dessert, and this is one of the only Korean cafes serving bingsu in the Torrance area. The price of the items are quite high, and they do charge you for toppings and sauce. I had the green tea shaved ice. To be honest, I was disappointed that they "to go" this item when they were not supposed to. Then I was disappointed to learn that condensed milk was not standard (also known as sauce), and neither was mochi or red beans. When you order the shaved ice, that is literally all you get unless you specifically ask for add-ons. The shaved ice itself was not too bad. I was annoyed that the top tasted more like ice than the flavour I expected, but it got better towards the end - both the taste and the texture. It is small, but not cramped. They also have unique décor, which I appreciate. It was worth a try here, but I am still searching for a Korean dessert place that rivals L.A.'s in the area. read more

my favorite cold and sweet dessert shop ever! the ambiance looks so fancy while also having it be so clean, which i love! clean & fancy! there is a good amount of seating and has good air flow keeping the place cool! service is good, you just need to order upfront at the cashier and they will make your order right away! it took me about 5 minutes to receive my bingsu, which was strawberry bingsu. the sizing for regular is perfect for sharing and the small, i recommend if you eat by yourself. 10/10 bingsu + quiet ambiance (the music is also such a great choice for this cafe) i love going here even if it could be a long drive! read more

Reunion of long time friends... This was my second visit to Okrumong in Torrance. The first time, I didn't order anything because I was so full from dinner. This time, I planned better and just had half of a pizza for dinner and shared a bingsu - Korean dessert! My friends like this place because of the free parking, convenient restroom, and pleasant service. We got the blueberry snow bowl which had layers of fruit syrup in between the layers of snow (flavored shaved ice) and topped with frozen blueberries and crunchy frosted flake cereal. Bingsu is actually fluffier and lighter than shaved ice. It's not too sweet and the blueberries made it a healthier snack! Yum! The best thing about this visit was meeting up with Jean L. Just because everyone lives in Los Angeles County doesn't mean that they easily get together. Work, traffic, distance, and other obligations sometimes are obstacles that get in the way. I just made a simple phone call to Jean because I noticed that she was half a mile away from us. She came over right away and we spent a couple of precious hours together! We'll be back! I was surprised to see that most of the tables were seated with older korean folks just having their evening coffee and enjoying a bowl of shaved ice. order at the counter and pick a table to sit down at after. green (matcha) snow bowl w/ red bean ($11.95) | 3.8/5 a cute dome shaped shaved ice was presented to us. it had a mound of red bean and two pieces of house made mochi on top. ngl, i feel like i expected a bigger bowl for the price. flavor wise, it had a true earthy matcha flavor (not the fake stuff) with a slight sweetness. i feel like could've easily finished that one bowl by myself but we were sharing it amongst 3 people. the red bean is cooked down til it just breaks without being too mushy. ice texture was on the rougher end, so it lacks that velvety "fresh snow" texture i was looking for. the syrup coverage was pretty good with minimal "bald spots" near the center of the shaved ice. friends had the mochi and thought it was the best part! overall, i think this is a decent shaved ice place and the portions are more on the modest side. i like how they serve other traditional korean desserts like red bean porridge and bungeoppang. i would like to try their coffee or other desserts next time but would try a different shaved ice place. plenty of parking in huge shared plaza. only bottled water available. read more

I came on 3/23/2022 around 7 PM with a friend after dinner. There was no line, plenty of tables, the service was friendly, desserts and drinks brought to our table. This was my first time, so I had to study the menu and ask questions! Basque Cheesecake - The Basque cheesecake was served with a hint of strawberry and whipped cream. The top was slightly burnt, taste slightly sweet, and texture ricotta cheese-like (that's not what they use). This is distinctly different from a New York-style cheesecake. This is less creamy, and less sweet, which is to my taste. The Okrumong online menu says that they use Philadelphia cream cheese, eggs, and heavy cream, so the eggs probably contribute to the texture. Taiyaki with Red Bean and Taiyaki with Custard - We ordered one of each type. These were freshly made to order and came out warm. The thin outer layer was a toasted, crispy, eggy shell that coated a chewy mochi-like dough with the pleasantly sweet red bean or custard filling inside. Omiza - Five Flavor Berry Tea - The staff-person let me know that this is a caffeine-free tea. The aroma of this tea had a strong medicinal herb scent - like Traditional Chinese Medicine - which suggested that it would be bitter. However, in the mouth, the tea was not bitter at all. It had a sharp tartness that moved into a sweet finish that reminded me of Sweetarts and cranberry juice. This is like the one in K-town, although I remember the ones in K-town being a bit bigger and creamier. This was pretty standard, I came here to escape the heat wave last week and got the original. I also got the taiyaki in cheese and red bean (the only two flavors they offer), which was really really soggy! This other lady who frequents Okrumong came up to the cashier saying her taiyaki was really soggy too. The cashier was just like "oh, sorry" and that was it. This place is perfect for hot summer days! The ice is really fine and doesn't clump up. It's definitely a change from the regular shaved ice places. Okru only has savory shaved ice like matcha, red bean, and soy. It's still really good, but if you want something sweet they only have smaller cup versions. I got the matcha and shared with my friend. A bowl is about 10$ by come with red bean topped and inside the ice. My only complaint is there's only two rice balls. Other places I've been to aren't stingy on the rice cake balls. Since it's summer I would definitely recommend coming here to check out if you haven't already. So the Mr and I have mixed feelings about this place. He said the dessert was not satisfying because it just feels like he's eating air- but I think it's perfect! Fellow Yelper, Santi T introduced me to Okrumong and I enjoyed it so much there was a week where I came here several days in a row. Then an incident happened which made me stay away for months - but I'm back again. What happened - I showed up at 8:14 PM and they had closed. Workers were inside cleaning up but refused to even acknowledge the knocking on the door. I just hope that whatever caused them to close shop like that all worked out for the best. But back then, I was pissed enough to almost decide not to come back, ever. However, I really like this place. Tons or parking. Simple menu but I've really liked everything I've tried so far. Lots of indoor seating and the customer service is adequate. So, since that incident, I've been back several more times. I've tried just about everything on the menu and what I really appreciate about Okrumong is that their offerings aren't overly sweet. Other places I've been to, I don't tend to finish the entire dish because by the time all is melted or settled, all that's left is too sweet. It's not the case here - at least, in my opinion. Others I know agree - but just know that everyone has a different palette. Don't expect service here if you come. You order and pay - then find a seat. I've never had a problem with seating even when showing up with a party of seven. Keep in mind I usually show up in the evening after dinner. I mention service being adequate because the staff aren't the most friendly people I've encountered. Not rude or dismissive - they'll answer questions and are very patient with indecisive customers but don't expect them to shoot the breeze with you. Maybe it's different if you know them but just mentioning this in case so you're not turned off. I've been to several Bingsu establishments and Okrumong is definitely my go-to's. read more

Super cute but very pricey Korean cafe. It seems like I have a bit of a different opinion, but I thought the strawberry snow bowl was tiny and very expensive for the size. My friend and I shared it and were not fully satisfied. Honestly, I could have eaten the whole thing by myself. The aesthetic was nice and it was tasty, but I think you can probably find a better value bingsoo that tastes similar elsewhere. I might be back to try another item or two, but my impression was that the portions of the cafe are quite small. The basque cheesecake I was interested in getting as well seemed smaller than the average cheesecake slice. Beyond that though, the cafe looks great and has a nice aesthetic.
