Old Europe wasn't great, or even good. I'm confused by the restaurant's longevity and high rating. I had the chicken weiner schnitzel, apple red cabbage ("rotkohl" to regular German cuisine patrons), and warm German potato salad. The schnitzel was fine I suppose. The rotkohl was so sour/tart I couldn't eat it; there wasn't a hint of sweetness. The potato "salad" was a boiled potato diced in vinegar with nothing else. After years of eating German food in different American cities and made by my German family, I can confidently say this restaurant was the most unappetizing German cuisine I've had. My husband enjoyed his meal a little better than I enjoyed mine. He gave it a 3/5, but conceded he wouldn't be back if he lived in the area. I also wouldn't return to Old Europe or recommend it. You can find much better food elsewhere.

Service is so nice!! Such a cool restaurant with excellent quality food! Unlike other restaurants they don't just throw out your meals in 5 minutes. The salad is a must with the scrumptious lentils and sprout's.My son really enjoyed the duck with cabbage and potatoes,my chicken Jager schnitzel with spatzel was amazing especially the mushrooms, potato pancakes perfection, and the chicken schnitzel with potatoes ow my!! Definitely will be back soon. The details on the atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing.

I came here for my friend's birthday. She loves European style and the interior design is definitely great. Food is a little blend here , not my favorite. I think they might be understaffed? It's four of us, at the end we asked for a separate check. The server mentioned there will be a charge of 20% on top to separate our checksince we didn't mention it at the beginning when we put in the meal ?? (honestly I don't see how does this relevant? And specially no one mentioned it either? ) We had a one person paid. We were going to Venmo her back then I realize, she got our order wrong as well Anyways, with all the inconvenience, I don't think I will go back. Sorry

Visited this restaurant recently and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety offered on their gluten free menu. All the food was delicious and fresh (really great complimentary salad). There are also non alcoholic beer selection which was lovely for you not drinking this year like myself lol I had the pan-seared chicken along with potatoes and seasonal veggies. Random tip: definitely try their mustard!!

Why is the restaurant closed on a Tuesday night? We went for dinner and they are closed with no information why.

Do restaurants normally explain to you why they are closed at whatever hour? Their open hours are on their website.

Chicken and waffles meal was really delicious! The farmer's scramble was really nice as well, and it had a ton of vegetables. Really loved the vegetarian options! Breakfast is available all day. Pop tart was so delicious that we got two more to go. Enjoyed the blueberry, peach, and cherry. These are rotated out seasonally! The strawberry milkshake was a nice portion and they even brought out the extra in another glass.

Then we wanted something else with pumpkin spice and that was also sold out. So we did finally order. I ordered the braised short rib which was delicious. Now the ultimate reason for the rating is because they charged us an automatic 5% service fee and we weren't aware of that. We didn't see it posted or written on the menu and then they want us to pay tax and tip on top of that. It's too much. Which also makes me expect stellar service from the staff. No hiccups, no mistakes, no I'm sorry buts, just great service because I have to pay for it! It is not the responsibility of the customers to pay your staff's wages. So the no pumpkin spice anything from the menu and the service fee just blew me but my food was good so I had to give them that.

Server came by, not so much as a greeting or introduction, just a short, "do you know what you want?" Fine - no problem. We ordered two avocado toasts and side of fries to share. Now, the menu clearly says the avocado toasts are served with a "runny egg". Ok sure, no problem. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries. Not bad, crispy , hot, and...wait...sweet...something is off, I can't put my finger on it but at least it's not a raw egg. I keep eating. My kids looks at me and says, "do these remind you of funnel cake?" THAT'S IT - FUNNEL CAKE. We have both had enough, ask for the check. The server comes by gives me the clunky machine, I tap and put it down, he reaches for it and I say, it's processing, I still have to sign...and then he starts snapping his fingers...WHAT IN THE ACTUAL €¥($ ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW?!? Never again. Never, again.

The service when we went left a lot to be desired. It was busy for sure being a weekend but not overwhelming. There were empty tables inside. Even still, it took forever to get acknowledged at times just to take our order. If we hadn't asked someone walking by for the bill, we still may be there. We had an app of fries and then my main was the burger with fries. The fries were great. They are those style of pub fries that are crispy and delicious. The garlic aioli dip was a great pairing for them. The burger was fine. It wasn't anything out of this world but it was still good. All the toppings blended well with the burger. I felt it could have used some more flavor. Duke's is in an unbeatable spot being right across from the entrance to the zoo. If you are looking for a bite right there, it's a good option.
