    All you can eat

This place got new owners and the menu changed, prices are soooo much better and affordable. For under 40$ ayce, this place has amazing quality meat. On top of that, our server was awesome! She chatted with us while helping cook some of the cuts. Will be going back again for sure! If you seemed hesitant cause of the rating, you should give it another chance because its much better now!

Excellent! The place is open and has new owners. I would highly recommend it as your go to Korean bbq place! The banchan, meats, pancake, etc are all great and so tasty! The staff is really nice and works hard. There's a lot of space for a big party or small.

We had a really nice meal! After a long day of holiday shopping we were READY for some Korean BBQ. We had a different restaurant picked out but they had a one hour wait time so we came here instead. So glad we did! Ordered the 3 meat meal with cold noodle soup. Meat portions were VERY GENEROUS! Good quality too! We had the brisket, marinaded beef short rib, and spicy pork. The 4 of us couldn't finish it all! The sides they had were really good too! One of the freebie sides was garlic "studs" or stems. I had never had them and they were delicious. Their prices are also very reasonable. Loved that they use charcoal on the BBQ grills, something you don't see in WA. Only reason this wasn't a 5 star meal was the service could have been more attentive. It wasn't bad, but if you are looking for a place with lots of attention you could be disappointed. But for a great meal at a very fair price this is a winner.

    Combo of 3

We came here on Labor Day when we found many of the other restaurants were closed. It had been years since the last time I came, and I noticed now they had added a sushi bar and menu. As we knew Old Village was famous for its Korean BBQ, we ordered BBQ combo of 3 so we could enjoy both pork and beef, and the soft tofu soup that came with the combo. We also ordered a seafood pancake that was crusty on the outside and delicious. Our server was not super friendly or attentive. She started grilling the meat for us, but eventually she stopped, and we had to grill on our own. We also had to walk over to the other side of the restaurant to find her to order another bottle of soju and another round of side dishes. The restaurant was quite empty at the time, with only few tables of customers. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed the spacious seating and the well-priced food.

Food is very bland, even the soup and the side dishes taste are super bland, I have never been to a Korean place where food is very tasteless. Service is good, place is clean and not busy at all. Has a parking lot.

    Choice of 3 meats

I usually review KBBQ places in tandem as 1) it's my comfort food & 2) I don't mind putting in the drive if the place is good (i.e. mostly in Federal Way). I had high hopes for Old Village to be a nearby favorite spot but it didn't check off a few major points. For the amount/quality of food & location, $140 (with tips) for 2 is a hefty price level that is difficult to invite returns. The non-marinated meat options tasted bland even with dipping sauces. Some of the side dishes were quite unique & sadly didn't complement the meats (e.g. the pickled stuff didn't taste sour enough, kimchi was sadly bland & not spicy, etc.) What salvaged the experience was customer service. Our server was attentive & helped us grill throughout our stay, though I was not opposed to doing it myself. Never once did I feel rushed. Another minor suggestion is the big vent in the middle. Though I understand the utility & effectiveness of it, its sheer size & position felt uninviting as it was hovering in front of us & blocked the view of the opposite bench. It could take away from a date experience. Feels as if it was over accommodating - owner should trust that folks who like KBBQ won't mind the grill smell; it's part of the experience!

    Pork belly (aged and pre-seared)

Something is changed ... in a good way! It seems more like pre-pandemic time. We tried something called "ripen and seared" on the menu. It turned out to be pork belly that is aged and pre-seared. And it was cut little bit thicker than usual which made it easier to cook it crispy outside and juicy inside. That was my best pork belly experience ever.

Recommended by a Korean friend of ours and it definitely didn't let us down. We had a couple of different meats to grill (beef and spicy pork), plus a seafood pancake and an order of Daeji Soondooboo. I'm a big fan of Dooboo soups, and theirs was excellent and tasty. Only complaint was that it could have been spicier--looks like they were accommodating the Northwest palate--but that's easy to resolve in the future: they'll make it to any spice level, at request. The spicy pork was phenomenal as well, and the seafood pancake was equally tasty. All-in-all a great meal, and a great find. I'll be back!!

TL;DR: The price we paid for our meal was overly inflated for what we got. I am unlikely to come again due to how overpriced this meal was. Value - 1/5 We paid ~$160 for 2 people. This rating holds most of the weight for our overall review. The price for our dining experience was absolutely not worth it. If the price was half of what we paid, I would give 2.5/5, but I cannot overstate how overvalued this meal was. For reference, we find our experience at Grill King in Shoreline to be significantly better, at a better price point (~$30/person) Food - 2.5/5 We got the BBQ 3 meat selection and a seafood pancake. The food was fine, but the quality was nothing significant. Service - 3/5 Service was mostly fine. It was unclear if they intended to cook for us or if we were supposed to cooked ourselves. When they brought the meat, they started off the cooking, but were inconsistent to attend the cooking. If we had not started cooking ourselves, the meat would have been overcooked/burned. Notes: - They no longer have All You Can Eat - Parking: restaurant is located in a plaza with ample parking in front

This is a good Korean BBQ restaurant. It's a huge space (far bigger than it looks from the outside). They have grills at (almost) every table, and they use lump charcoal for cooking (started with a natural gas fire until hot), which many places have abandoned. This make the meat taste so much better. And the vent fans here are really good. We did not even smell like a campfire afterwards. All the meat was good, and they even offer ribeye. Spicing was nice on everything we had. The sides are a little weak in that there are far fewer of them compared to many places. My biggest complaint here is the price and meat portion size for that price. It's not an all-you-want-to-eat-meat place. That has one advantage--you are welcome to take any leftovers. But you probably won't have any leftovers because the portions are small compared to most Korean BBQ places. And the prices per order are about the same as you would pay at the all-you-want-to-eat-meat places. So, that makes this place pricey. Sides are free refills--for one refill. If you order thirds on any side, then they charge you for it. That seems like kind of a cheap nickel and dime approach, especially when the meat is so expensive. Boo on them for that (and minus half a star). Would we return? Yes. But we'd do so knowing what we were getting into as far as price to quantity ratio.

We got seated and put in our first meat order. There is a time limit to eat (but as I write this I can't remember if it was 90 minutes or two hours) but that wasn't an issue because we ate a lot and were stuffed at the end. While we waited for the first round of meat, check out the salad bar, which also has japanese curry, miso soup, white rice and a bunch of sides like kimchi! Probably wise not to fill up on the salad bar but it was my first time so i wanted to try a little bit of everything! The curry was pretty good! For the meats, we tried a little bit of everything but my favorites were the finger meat and the karubi so we got multiple orders of those in future rounds. The server came by frequently to take orders from us - it was so quick and efficient! The meat was good quality and the service was great and the space is nice and clean. It was a fun experience and i would definitely go back if i felt like eating a lot of meat and getting my iron and protein levels up! One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."
