I love Ole's food. But man their to go orders are a mess. We ordered chk fajitas for 2 and I know for a fact we only got chk fajitas for 1. Not sure if we are supposed to get 2 setups since it is for TWO people but we only got 1. We asked for extra tortillas and only got the normal for 1 person. I definitely got ripped off. Very below average food and below average service. We got the beef fajitas along with chips and queso and they were all pretty disappointing. The queso tasted like velveeta with bland ground beef and the steak had an odd taste to it. The flour tortillas are also store-bought and reheated at the restaurant. My wife and I were looking forward to coming to try the puffy tacos. We ordered and waited for a bit. The service is extremely slow and waited at least 15 minutes to let us know that they were not able to make the puffy tacos. Not sure why it took that long to disappoint us even further. Not to mention, the temperature outside of the restaurant is 60° and inside the restaurant had to be at least 80°. Definitely won't be coming back to give them a second chance. I have been a regular for the longest time. I went there since it was Anamias and they switched to oles. I would always come in with my family and sometimes with co-workers. I do admit to recommending this this restaurant but I will never again. I have 3 reasons i will never set foot at this place ever again. Reason 1) (they fired a great server and asset to any restaurant) I met Esmeralda a great server a couple of months ago she was so nice and she made us have a wonderful time. If i saw her I would sit in her section every time. She had told me and my family that she had started working there in June and that it was her first time working as a server. But she was so natural. I couldn't believe her so I asked her manager Jeff and he confirmed it. She made the best top shelfs and virgin margs for my daughter. I recently found out she was fired. I really can't believe it it i hope i could get in contact with her some way. I am an attorney and I would like to help her out. Reason 2) (horrible server they need to fire her) I recently went back in and yesterday was my last time. First of all I had a server named Tatiana and she was the worst. She took for ever to get my drinks and not only that they were nasty. I ordered a top shelf like always and it was so bad. What kind of server is that? This server is in the wrong place wrong job. Well that wasn't the only problem. She was so hung up talking and laughing with this girl it took her forever to take our order. I was so mad daughter was hungry and we had more people that were going to meet us there. I decided to leave it had been horrible service. Reason 3)(infestation) This place is GROSS they have rats there. Yesterday I was there at closing time and it was quiet but suddenly I heard rats and then I saw something peeking through the holes. I saw the TAIL hanging out the hole. It was HUGE. Then I saw 2 roaches coming out the kitchen and that's when I said enough is enough. I'm done with his place for good. Next time y'all go just stay quiet and you will be able to hear them, or look up to the ceilings holes and you see them .... I will never put a foot there again!!!! Gabriel deserves these stars. We went last night for dinner. We hadn't been there for a while. We were waiting to be seated. No one approached us for about 10 minutes. When we were approached, a larger waiter told us, "We are really busy. The kitchen is backed up. We are short-staffed and we have a really big party in the other room. It's going to be at least 15 minutes before you are seated." All we needed was a table, chips and salsa, and drinks. We would have waited for food forever. We decided to go somewhere else, and Gabriel ran after us and said he'd take care of us. We went back in because of Gabriel. He is amazing. He TOOK great care is us! The food was good. I hadn't been here in months. I noticed they changed the plates and the portions were very small. I had the beef enchilada dinner. Two very small enchiladas and 2 spoonful's of beans and rice. I noticed the prices have been raised on all items by about 40% in last 2 years. My wife ordered the 4 piece bean & cheese nachos for $6.95. Very little cheese and very small chips. Mexican food is about the cheapest food costs in restaurants. As mentioned, the food was good, but won't be back based on the small portions being served. Went to Oles last night for dinner and ordered two Mexican meals. The food was awful. Cheese enchiladas had a big hunk of processed cheese inside that was not hot or even melted. Gravy on top had no flavor and certainly not what we usually expected. Found out they are under new owners and it's clear that they changed the quality and flavor of the food. We are always understanding of todays challenges but this was beyond bad. Will not be back! read more

Ole's holds a special place for me and my family. When we go in, we feel like family and I get the feeling that's how everyone in there feels! The house tacos are my go to but this last time, I ordered Jeff's Fajitas Picante. They were delicious! My wife gets the Cristina's Burrito almost every time (be careful, it's a little spicy) and when she doesn't, it's the quesadillas. My daughter swears by the cheese quesadillas and all the kids fight over the special chip they put in the Queso! The restaurant isn't the fanciest but it doesn't need to be...it's like home. And the best part -- no matter when you go or how busy they are, there never seems to be a wait! Five stars because they treat my family like we're their family! You can't buy that! read more

The service here was awesome. I drink a lot of ice tea, about a pitcher during a meal. I usually let the wait staff know how much I drink. After reading some of the comments, I wanted to see how attentive the staff was so I didn't tell them how much I drink. My ice tea glass was never empty. I went through 7 glasses. Each time was a new glass with a fresh lemon. I asked what was good here. The staff suggested a chicken breast that had bacon and cheese. You can't go wrong with that combination. The owner came over while we were ordering. He suggested an off menu chimichanga. Oh my gosh!! That was incredible. Ask about off menu items when you are there. Our appetizer was table guacamole. That was really good too. It was enough for 4 people. There were only 2 of us. Having some for a snack later today. I saw the owner make rounds to all the tables there. He visited with each table. At our table, he wanted to make sure we were enjoying our meal and that we were pleased with the service. I will eat here again. read more

We decided to leave after learning that the cook hadn't even started prepping the food. As we are leaving we hear the cook tell the waiter "que se vayan!" Then the cook called my father a "cabron". I guess he didn't know we knew spanish. Cabron means dumbass for those that don't know spanish. Absolutely terrible!! Then Alfredo asks "What would you like me to do about it?" We walk out and he follows us out saying he will get rid of all of them. Such a dysfunctional restaurant. Ever since Lawrence took this restaurant over it has been a joke. Food is low end tex mex. The beer is stacked behind the booth right in the door entrance to get to the bar. Not only is that a TABC violation but it looks trashy. Even the chairs, tables, and light fixtures don't match...if you are going to invest in something like a restaurant at least do it right. There are too many good options for great Mexican food in Dallas at the same price point to eat this crappy food with crappy service. The restaurant was much better when Ole was the owner. Even the atmosphere is awkward, Lawrence's(the owner) Mom hovers around watching people walk in the restaurant and hovering over the servers not letting them do their job. If you want freshly made enchiladas, then Ole's is your place. Every time I order them, they make them perfectly each time. The rice and beans are the best. The chips and salsa are also great. The lunch prices are decent for what you get. Their enchiladas are not these cheesed up greasy mess that you get elsewhere, they make them with real ingredients, never canned. Had a to-go (pickup) order. I confirmed my order in detail 3 times (yes, 3 times...they often get things wrong). When I got home, I saw that one of my items was not correct. It was just 2 large tortilla shells nothing else on them. No problem, I'll just call and let them know. The original girl I talked to (the same one I placed the order with) went and talked to the kitchen. They said it was correct. I tried to explain to her what I had and that I can send her a pic if she wanted. She just kept saying sorry. When I asked to talk to Jessie (the owner) I was told he wasn't there. No problem, can I speak with a manager? "There's not one here". Really? Ok, I asked to speak to whoever is in charge. They put another girl on the phone. I explained the situation and she basically said too bad. What? I asked for her name so when I talked to Jessie I can explain everything in detail. She said it was "Jo-wanna" and started laughing. I later realized she was mocking me by making up a name that sounded like " you want a". I did find out that she was actually a fairly newly hired girl. The conversation ended with the original girl saying, fine, we will make them for you at no charge. What? I told her I already had paid for the item that I didn't get...that was the point of the call. It was too late, too much hassle to drive back. I've tried to talk to the owner multiple times but have not heard back. I spoke with his daughter and explained everything and still did not hear back. I explained to her calmly that this area has a multitude of great Mexican food restaurants and that, although their food is good, the way I was treated, mocked and never got a follow up call, my business will be taken elsewhere. read more

I decided to stop by tonight and it was super busy. As we were waiting to be seated we saw a big group waiting to be seated as well. They were very impatient and they wanted to be seated right away. Whenever they got sat down they were very rude to the waitress. We understand that it was very busy and they were understaffed. But we had an amazing experience and we are thankful for them being open because we had an amazing dinner and drinks. We felt uncomfortable sitting near the table because of how rude and disrespectful they were being. They were also notifying everyone on the shortage of the alcohol due to the winter storm. I reviewed this place back in 2016, but wanted to update it since it is under new management. While it is now Kelly's Ole Tex Mex, if you have been a reguler diner here, you can still count on the same great food with a few new additions. If you have never tried it, there are so many great dishes to choose from. Their poblano sauce is delicious; get some as a side to go with your chips. The tableside guacamole is fresh and refreshing. I had the shrimp enchiladas. Would have cleaned my plate; just couldn't eat it all. Ask for Jeff as your server and ask him about any special off-menu items they might be cooking up that week. This place has coupons sometimes, in the clipper magazine and we also found a groupon for it once, so those prices are fair for the quality of the food. Here's the thing about Tex-Mex in my experience. It's really not difficult to find mediocre, average Tex-Mex. Every place has similar offerings, somehow tasting strangely similar no matter where you eat it. Ole's seems to be really no different. Really nothing wrong with this place, but nothing really exciting. It's a decent option for the local folks of Coppell but nothing to go out of your way for. (Funny thing is, they have a sign as you walk in telling people to check them out on Yelp, but there aren't even any other reviews yet.) We had enchiladas, brisket tacos, and tortilla soup. My wife loved the tortilla soup but I didn't think it was anything too special. Everything else was pretty uneventful, not exploding with flavor, but not bad. The best thing we had was the chips and salsa which were actually pretty great. I hope my 3 star review is not a death nail for this place or anything as it really is nothing bad but just didn't wow me or anything. Maybe if I go back, they can pull something else out of their hat and I'll bump it up to 4 stars. read more

What does it mean when two different co-workers rave about the same place on different occasions and each time they drag you to it, you don't enjoy it? Are my taste buds so out of whack? Here, you tell me... - the chips tasted burnt - the salsa is served in what could easily be cereal bowls, one per diner. Besides being a waste of condiments, the salsa tasted like something commercially bought in bulk - the beef sauce on top of my tamale tasted worse than canned chili - the guacamole for my fajitas was also boringly commercial Why haven't I given this 1-star? Because... - the service was lightning fast (no doubt because half the stuff they served didn't have to be cooked from scratch) - the tortillas were good and hot - they served a complimentary sopapilla triangle with individual packets of honey that pleased my tongue finally 3 of us at lunch each buying lunch specials and tea or water cost us $30 so it was not expensive. But, it was also not tasty. For the rest of my co-workers, I remember the name of this place now and I will NOT be letting you take me here under ANY circumstances. read more

Been to this place several times. This time was the most so-so on food, and it was still good! Service was excellent - Jorge was awesome. Chips are perfect - crisp, not greasy, not to wimpy or too thick. The "basic" salsa roja is okay but not even remotely spicy. It's the gringo salsa. Ask for the "real" salsa if you want something more interesting - although it's still not very spicy. (I was told it can be depending on the jalapeño batch.) Rice and beans are good. They have mole sauce, which is one of my go-to's. This visit the mole enchiladas were the most so-so they've ever been because the tortillas were... not fresh, I think. They were a little tough. But it's the only time that's ever happened, so I'm sticking with 4 stars. The chicken was excellent. It'd be 5 if the enchiladas were as great as usual. Good consistency here, typically. I will say the mole sauce here certainly isn't the best I've ever had, but I'm just so happy when places have mole at all... so many places don't... Good reliable Tex Mex. Nuff said. read more

Decent Tex Mex restaurant. We go here often since its close to the workplace. A couple of items I would recommend are the mamas tacos and the house tacos. Mamas tacos are flour tortillas stuffed with brisket and roasted poblano peppers...very juicy, tender and yummy. The house tacos were the usual fajita tacos...the chicken version is a little dry but the beef ones were perfect. They also have one of the best charro beans I have tasted. The salsa is OK...nothing exceptional. Overall the place is great value and I definitely recommend it especially if you stick to the two dishes above. read more

Food was fabulous and only rating below a 4 star due to the managements behavior. Apparently there is a new owner and food and service from out waiter Gabriel, from original Oles, was super. The hostess, daughter of the new owner, was RUDE to a customer that has been coming here for 15+ years. Why? She wanted to place a to go order with our awesome waiter. Hostess, NOT owner, told the customer that she HAD to order thru her, it was HER restaurant (wrong) and she must order thru her. Then it was 3 sisters against a senior customer situation happening for all to see. Ridiculous. Then one of the daughters called daddy to say they did nothing wrong and it must be the weather. Customer was very upset but they completely talked over her and blew her off. Seems it may have been easier to let 1 long time customer order from someone that has been good to her vs losing a customer and making a scene. Hey unexperienced daughters...easier to keep a customer than bring in new ones. Look it up. read more

Been eating here for years. The house tacos are the best. Fajita beef marinated overnight is especially tender and flavorful. The refried beans are standard but not stand out. The chips are okay. But the salsa is some of the best. Watch out if your not too much into spicy as it's authentically spicy and I wouldn't have it any other way. read more

Best choice to keep driving down the road. We past Chipotle (fav) , and stopped quick to pump gas. Saw Tex-Mex and definitely had to stop and dine in . Quality of the food was great! Enchilada tortilla was soft and my taco was crunchy and not soggy.
