Everything here was an absolute banger!! The short rib and truffle raviolis were absolutely to die for. I can't even explain how incredible the flavor was. I'm still thinking about it days later. The yellowtail also had such a complex and fresh blend of flavors that we ordered two rounds of it for the table. Our only complaint is that we did have a reservation and we were seated about 30 mins late because the party before us was still there (after being there for more than 3 hours). I'm not sure why management declined to politely ask them to finish, as most other establishments would. We were there for a bachelorette party so it did throw off our itinerary a bit. Our wedding anniversary couldn't have been more special, thanks to Olivia. We had an early reservation and were seated right away in a quiet corner -- the perfect spot for a celebration. Our server greeted us promptly, and we started the evening with a chilled bottle of Pinot Noir and the meatball starter. This was my first time dining at Olivia and I wish I lived in Tampa so I could go back more often! The restaurant is lovely and there was a great crowd when I went this weekend for a graduation dinner. The service was what made the meal. Our server was extremely kind and felt more like a friend by the end of the meal. He was also very patient and knowledgeable with our requests, which is refreshing not to feel like a burden nowadays. Glad I did not spend my money or time at this pretentious south Tampa spot. For one, when I called them to make a dinner reservation for my birthday, I wanted to verify if the restaurant was in South Tampa, because the phone number routed via an Odessa number (and for all I know, they might have two locations). The hostess wasn't sure if they were located quite exactly in south Tampa. Like what? What knowledgeable employee does not know that a restaurant well south of Kennedy is considered to be in "South Tampa"? I just needed to make sure it was not in Odessa. Additionally, said hostess had no interest in booking the reservation. She quickly identified the restaurant as "fully booked" THREE weeks ahead of time. Given how quickly she made the assessment, to me she had no interest in scheduling anything. The front house staff, especially the employees who pick up the restaurant's phone need to be evaluated and coached accordingly. After consulting friends who had been to OLIVIA, they validated my feelings regarding the attitude I experienced - and I only spent 2 minutes on the phone with them. One extra star because I did not try their food. Tampa has far more welcoming, moderate/upscale dining options that I will choose for future dining experiences. read more

We got a reservation and were seated shortly after arriving. The wait staff were super nice, but I'm unsure if three hostess is necessary for the front. The dining space is pretty tight in the sense that the seating area felt very cramped. The food was good, we ordered two drinks, two apps, and two entrees. Pictures were taken, conversations were made, but I'm not sure if this space is right for more close conversations. It seemed as if to get a conversation across, raised voices were needed. We were so lucky to have Daniel as our server, and we instantly felt like we were all best friends. He made great wine recommendations, and was very conscious of the gluten free options on the menu. For food, my friend and I shared the bruschetta, arugula salad, fungi pizza, and the tortiglioni (spicy vodka sauce). For everything being celiac friendly, it was all so amazing! The ambiance is a perfect balance of cozy and elegant, chairs are cushioned and comfortable but tables are very close together. Reservations & Parking: Reservations are available online, but they can be hard to get for weekend evenings. Walk ins not welcome for booked evenings. Brunch and lunch on weekends were more easily available. Parking is limited, and we opted for valet, which made things much easier. We have now been twice in two weeks. Once for a birthday dinner and once for brunch. This place has worked its way into the rotation. I give it 5+ for sure. Great service from the moment you drop your car off till the moment you're leaving. The manager is everywhere from talking to the valet, making sure things are flowing out there, cleaning tables, bringing out food when the waitress or waiter are at another table, so the food gets there right out of the kitchen, and making his rounds to the tables to make sure everybody is happy and content. The wait staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable. The manager remembered us on our second visit. And the food is incredible. Very cool chic vibe inside. My favorite thing, they have their own dough room!! Reminds me of being in Europe, where all the dough is made in house whether it's for the bread, for the pasta, for the pizza. Outstanding! Speaking of outstanding, you definitely want to get a pizza there, even if you do it as an appetizer for the group! And I cannot say enough about the sausage and pesto pizza as a brunch item with eggs! Every dish was a complete winner! The lasagna special is just an eye catcher, the linguine with lobster and lemon fantastic, what great lemon flavor in that fettuccine and plenty of lobster. Brunch items were also awesome. Another perfect Ponte place! I worry, however, that too many Ponte places will bring everything down....they are opening another OLIVIA! This specific location has been a series of mediocre (at best) attempts at trendy and not so trendy spots and each has failed. I have held off on coming here because of that. But that was just my loss. This experience was fantastic and what a treat, from start to finish. Our server, Cierra, was so great. She was smiley, friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable - we asked a LOT of questions - and she was happy to help....and she knew all the answers! We learned later in the evening that that was her first night on her own. WHAT!?! She will be incredible - she already was. So, onto the wine, the food, the everything.... I had a glass (or 2) of Bonanza cabernet. It was smooth and lovely. I ordered the yellowtail appetizer, presentation was beautiful, taste was top notch! I ordered the lemon fettuccine and it had lobster claw in it! The sauce was great and not too heavy. Others around the table had the lasagna, which looked like a cinnamon bun (she described it that way too) filled with all the meat and cheese and goodies.... Also, the Osso Bucco.. and then a simple rigatoni and a side of Brussel sprouts. WOW those were fantastic! Not your run of the mill Brussel sprouts! For dessert, we got the suggested apple butter tart, WOW it was yumm-O! WHAT a fun place, it packs up and fast! Make a reservation, for sure. Also, parking is terrible! The lot is really small! And they don't need valet - in fact - it takes up a ton of parking spots! The wait to leave your car and to retrieve your car is wasteful. It's not needed!! And an unneeded/unwanted extra expense. My 2nd visit to Olivia! It's been a few years. I was with two friends. One from Tampa, one from Charleston and me, from Tallahassee. I'm familiar with Chef Ponte's various restaurants in the Bay Area. For years our favorite special occasion restaurant was Cafe Ponte on Ulmerton. I was anxious to get back to Olivia as we were celebrating Fred's birthday. We were seated by very welcoming hostesses after a short wait. The restaurant was humming. The ambiance is light and airy and tastefully decorated. We'd previously ordered some drinks from the bar server which arrived quickly along with water for all three. Our server, a young, gregarious man promptly came to our table. Warmly welcomed us and told us about the specials. We ordered a Wagu Carpaccio appetizer and a yellow tail appetizer. Both were amazing in taste and presentation. We are a bit goofy on occasion, so we started telling Justin "stupid dad jokes". For entrees we selected a rigatoni with a rich red sauce, a Halibut entree and the house chicken schnitzel with a hot gooey cheesy sauce poured over it table side. The schnitzel was huge. Justin returned to the table often. Each time, we exchanged more dad jokes. We were laughing the entire evening. A lady manager came by our table too. She had a Dad joke for us too! We were stuffed, but ordered Justin's suggestions - apple crunch cake with crunch, and vanilla bean ice cream. The other was a lemon olive oil cake that was also scrumptious. It spends the range from pizzas to pastas too much more. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer. It was very good. I had the meatball pizza and had no qualms. My wife had the pasta à la vodka. We were both thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food. We shared the Affogato for dessert, but they also had several other options, including tiramisu, multiple types of gelato and sorbet, as well as cake and even waffles. Service was phenomenal. Valet was complimentary. If you're planning on visiting, just be prepared for a very loud dining environment and expect the 15% mandatory gratuity added to your bill. This was my first time going for brunch and I was blown away! Beginning with the COCCOLI FRITTO which had prosciutto, stracchino, fig jam, truffle honey. Literally all my favorite things. This fig jam has to be made in house it was so fresh as well as the truffle honey. I will come back time and time again just for that. My main entree was a waffle which was decently sized. Toppings included strawberries, white chocolate ricotta cream, toasted almonds, honey maple syrup. Another 10/10 this was delicious! The white chocolate ricotta was new for me and I was pleasantly surprised. Service was great she explained the menu very well and as always the ambiance was very nice. My only note that I've come to realize is that no matter if your large party has a reservation you will still have to wait for your table to be ready. The lobby or waiting area is also very small so if you have a large party be prepared to wait a second. read more

All of our experiences at Olivia have been exceptional. On our most recent visit, we started with caramel coffee and four cheese arancini. These were the best arancini--light and crisp on the outside, super cheesy in the outside, with a cheesy fondue and scallions on the plate. For the main course, I ordered the scallops with peppers and lemon risotto. The flavorful scallops were cooked perfectly. My husband had the short rib agnolotti and those were flavorful as well. We ended the meal perfectly with waffle bomboloni and apple torta. The waffle tasted like doughnut dough put into a waffle maker--yum! They were not too sweet and went really well with the chocolate dip. I thought the caramel sauce was a little too sweet. The Apple torta was a cake version of apple pie--warm and delicious served with vanilla ice cream. read more

The restaurant is architecturally well done with an open dining room, however there is so much noise, that it is painful. The hostess staff behave like they are landing aircraft rather than greeting clients. I doubt they saw my face upon check in, as they were occupied with looking at their screens and playing with their hair. The reservation was a suggestion, as we waited 10 min past the scheduled table time. And we waited in the entrance, which was not not equipped to have people waiting. There was neither seating or space to stand. Our waiter, once seated, was wonderful. He offered suggestions and was quite pleasant. The food was flavored well, but the temperatures were off. Barely warm meatballs with lukewarm sauce/polenta. Cold Burrata on toast, with roasted tomatoes that were room temperature. The arancini were too heavy for our tastes, but there was nothing wrong with them. The tables are so close together, that the waitress for the next table decided to take their order from between tables. Her body and ponytail were in our space. And just like the hostesses, she didn't know we were there. We were a party of 2, and still, they add 15% to all checks to distribute to the staff. The waiter informed us of this and let us know we could leave additional money. The place was packed and I think I'm in the minority with my opinion about it being pretentious and uncomfortably loud and congested. While we waited for our reserved table, they must have turned away 10 parties. So, clearly, it's a hot spot. read more
