My party of 5 had a good dinner here. Service was great especially considering how many tables our waitress was covering! She was running all around the place and did a good job. The recommendation for the lemon honey vinaigrette on the house salad was spot on. Unfortunately my nephew didn't realize their Caesar salad comes with bacon and he doesn't eat pork. Thankfully they took it off our bill since he didn't eat a bite. So take note: they put bacon on their Caesar salad (just seems a bit odd). The bread was a bit difficult to cut (it wasn't cut through on the bottom and the crust was very tough on the bottom) but it was worth the effort. It had cloves of baked garlic that was like hitting a flavor jackpot! Unfortunately, my dad did not like the beef stroganoff and it's one of his favorite dishes elsewhere. Two of us got the shrimp & grits. This dish was divine and we both loved it. The bacon wrapped around the shrimp was crunchy (so good). And the oil sauce had a tiny bit of a spicy kick which I loved. The star of the dish was the jalapeño cheese grits!!! They were not spicy, just flavorful, creamy and addictive! These were the best grits I've ever eaten. Two of us got the salmon. It was cooked perfectly and tasted really good. The veggies were delicious too. We all tried the coffee Creme brûlée that two of us ordered. None of us liked it and I would go so far as to say we hated it. It was bland yet still the coffee flavor was strong while also being almost *unsweetened*. I'd describe it as a "mousse" and not a brûlée. There were a few crunchy grains of sugar on top, but if you expect a traditional brûlée, you're going to be sorely disappointed. The bread pudding... ugghhh. It was like a warm slice of thick plain bread topped with creme anglaise and ice cream. This, too, is disappointing if you expect a traditional dessert of small pieces of bread soaked and cooked in a sweet sauce. My mom actually could have used a fork to cut the bread. It really wasn't very good. Maybe it was supposed to be a "deconstructed" bread pudding, but it just didn't work. The baked fudge was the only dessert that was delicious. It was like a very warm, soft, wonderful brownie. The ice cream was rich and went perfectly with the chocolate brownie. It's too bad the menu listed other things that it should have been topped with (I think it said strawberries and my mom thought it also said pecans). The missing toppings would have been great, but it was really good plain. I really wanted to give this place 4 stars, but the desserts were just so disappointing. There is street parking for this location. There is a very chill and relaxed vibe when you walk in the door. We had a reservation (not needed mid week) and our table was ready when I arrived. My group and I had an attentive waitress. My favorite part of the meal was the Brussel sprouts - they were crunchy and had a lovely drizzle over them. I had the burger with no bun or cheese (no vegan cheese or gluten bun options). The sweet potato waffle fries were yummy, I don't see them often so definitely enjoyed them. Ol'Vine was great, fresh and had wonderful service. The wedge salad was outstanding. The produce was crisp and overall the ingredients had a perfect ratio of cheese to lettuce to toppings. They have wonderful ranch and blue cheese dressing. The salad was a strong 9/10, but I'm partial to any good wedge. My sides were also super satisfactory. The mashed potatoes have a nice garlic taste, and the sautéed mushrooms were exceptional. My entree itself was good, but I make a really tasty meatloaf at home, so I was a little disappointed that theirs wasn't as moist and flavorful. However, it was a good meatloaf, and if that is something you enjoy, this is a great place to try. read more

Great place, often forgotten about among the other Brookside greats. We really like the chicken piccata and the beef stroganoff off the dinner menu. The stuffed mushrooms are my favorite from the appetizers. Be sure to ask for bread bc they have a delicious herbed butter, but I've noticed that don't generally bring it out with most entrees (maybe bc we usually get pastas?). They have several tasty choices on the cocktail menu, including the Gardener, and sometimes I have it made with vodka instead of gin (I get nasty gin headaches). Definitely don't forget about this place for happy hour. They have discounted cocktails, pizza and burgers from 3-6pm Tuesday thru Friday. The patio is very nice, but noisy bc it's right out front on Brookside. If you're looking for quieter outdoor dining, they have tables on the back patio as well. read more

We finally got to eat at Ol'Vine (we hear the name is changing to 'Vine') and it was just okay. We were steered by our server to try the pepperoni pizza with a cauliflower crust. The crust was undercooked and made the pizza too heavy with the pepperoni, so instead the pizza just was kind of soggy. It honestly tasted like a frozen pizza warmed up in the oven for a bit. I wouldn't recommend trying the pizzas. The hostess told us that her favorite dish was the citrus chicken so I decided to give that a whirl. It actually had a lot of flavor and the chicken was very juicy. The citrus garlic sauce was savory and delicious. I loved that it was served with mashed potatoes but I would have liked some kind of green as well (asparagus or spinach maybe?). If I go back, I'll get the chicken again! read more

This was our first visit. We had a party of 5 for Sunday brunch. All the food was really fantastic and fresh. No one was served cold food that had been sitting. Always a plus. Everyone had something different, so we could sample an assortment of dishes. We were very pleased with product vs expense. I believe it to be very fairly priced concerning location and atmosphere. Our only downside to the visit was the service. They were not busy at all. Had lots of waitstaff on hand. However, our waitress was very inattentive. Had help from Manger and a server for another table as ours was no where to be found. She came back when we were finished to check on us before dropping the bill. As you may know, we do this mostly on purpose to gauge service. We've walked in w/o res' in Paris, Brussels, Curaçao, London, Athens, Istanbul, NYC, NOLA, Crete, Boston, Bruges, Rome, Torminia, Barcelona, Miami, Santorini, Rhodes, etc. I could go on & on, we've always been welcomed and 1/2 time it's in the rain. (See review of Emeril's please) The host perused the res book f o r e v e r & finally asked if a booth would be okay. It didn't occur to me until later that the tiny booth, on the "walkway", facing the front door really wasn't a choice seat. But we were in a good mood, just happy. I'm going to finish this bogus res thing first: We were the *ONLY* people there except for a private geriatric party in back room. Another couple came in and sat at the bar. At 6:00 the next couple came in w/ no res and were seated in the main room, front window. (I had the perfect seat to watch/listen). The next couple that came in seated themselves at a high top. The next couple of women came in as we were leaving, being seated in a large booth on the "walkway", grumbling; I heard the word "reservation". OpenTable @6:45, every time slot was *open*. OpenTable @8:00, all remaining time slots were *available*. OpenTable, total res for Friday, 13. So why do you choose to treat people this way? It's Tulsa Oklahoma, people. Get over yourselves! We'd love a neighborhood spot where we could pop by and garner some respect. Our neighborhood bistro in Houston always met us w/ drinks. And once fed us after hours. They have no house wine, which is fine. They have LaCrema Chardonnay (waiter called it the house wine) @ $10 a glass. Waiter's entree recommendation was based on my white wine. But I really wanted the gnocchi. So tempting -- "wild mushrooms, arugula, walnuts, truffle oil cream sauce". We started w/ the roasted cauliflower--"miso broth, bonito flakes, pine nuts, scallions". $9. Delicious. As an experienced gnocchi eater I inquired, "Is the gnocchi sautéed before its sauced?" Gnocchi should be sautéed for a light, crispy exterior before being sauced. It's about texture *and* flavor. You know, "brown tastes good!" And as a friend said,"Well, otherwise it's just a dough ball!" Waiter asked the "chef" and reported that, yes, it's sautéed first. Oh, please. See pictures! They not only were NOT sautéed, they were on the large side. That's one big, doughy bite. Just unpleasant. And. . . .the walnuts were raw, see photo. I had a few bites, fished for hidden arugula, but was so angry at being lied to w/ the addition of cold, raw walnuts, I was just done and ate some of hubby's "pear Gorgonzola, honey pizza". The favors were good but hubby said the crust was hard. I kept saying I tasted sugar. He reminded that honey was suppose to be on it. I said, "No. I feel and taste sugar." See pix. As we walked across the back patio to our car, hubby said, "Boy, we've spent a lot of time out here," motioning to the patio around us. Indeed. So many delightful memories on that crowded patio. Rolling in after work, special occasions, holidays. Later, I ordered pizza. **don't show up w/o res, they like empty tables as OpenTable verifies **no "House" wines, but fair pours, fair prices **they will lie about preparation. The best thing was that we were with some friends we had not gotten to see in quite a while so our dinner lasted 2 hours-about 30 minutes after closing time. I've rated this place before...a few years ago. But this place is a hidden gem in my opinion. I've heard that ownership has recently changed and I hope any drastic changes aren't planned. Let me just say that we ended up here as a plan B, but it worked out great. (Our plans were to eat at a "Hot & New" place in Brady but we passed on the hour and a half wait.) I had been wanting to try Ol'Vine so we drove to Brookside. No wait here which was nice but the place was deserted which always makes me pause. There were lots of staff on hand and they seemed to be celebrating the winning of the giant spoon (Taste of Brookside) from the night before. Our server was efficient but she seemed to be the only one working. The wine by the glass selection was outstanding. Had a few local beers but nothing on tap. Our salads were great (ordered the wedge and the field greens). I would highly recommend the latter which came with a vinegary dressing and creamy goat cheese. One of us ordered the Citrus and Garlic Grilled Chicken which was a stand out. Everything on the plate was delicious. Highly recommended!!!! We also sampled the Wild Mushroom Gnocchi which was OK. New ownership / similar concept / rebranded from the old Sonoma. Tried Ol'Vine with a group of 6 -- just a weekend after their open in late February. Great dinner, helpful staff. Impressive wine list, bottled beer, and some good modern classic cocktails. We had a range of appetizers: fried calamari - buffalo/ blue cheese dip - yum; also the crab cake - alright. For dinner, had the steak with the Gorgonzola crumble and the balsamic glaze- a little too fanciful for my taste. Sides were good. Wife reported she enjoyed her salmon. We tried the full array of 4 desserts - bueno! Service from our waiter and the GM was nice. Good spot to mingle as couples on a weekend. And mingle we did, with two of the couples nearly closing down the kitchen. I think the menu and management have a chance to improve upon the former Sonoma vibe. Even though I am marking this classy on the Yelp-choices below, I wouldn't hesitate to have dinner here in jeans & a golf shirt. Not worth the price. We had the crab cakes, beef stroganoff, and stuffed mushrooms. Honestly, the mushrooms were the best part. The crab cakes has a distinctly fishy taste and unusual aftertaste we couldn't place as it lingered. The stroganoff was beefy but one-dimensional. My biggest beef is it's interior and prices make it seem like a nice place but it really fell flat on the food. Service was great, attentive, and helpful with the menu. Updating my original review to add that they have brunch. REALLY GOOD BRUNCH!! The food was so good and they accommodated a table of 13 last minute and the service was still absolutely amazing! Everyone in our large group loved their food, we had absolutely zero complaints! Miranda & Misty have provided us outstanding service every time that we have visited. We had a wonderful time lunching here today. We were talking too much for me to get great photos but I'll definitely be back. We had 3 appetizers and 2 salads. The cauliflower was my favorites app and the shrimp was Emmas favorite. We also got the fried avocado and it was good, too. Just neither of our favorites. The salad was fresh and delicious. I'm sad I didn't get a photo for you too see but they were beautiful and wonderful! The prices were reasonable enough fir a nice restaurant on the Brookside area that we expected the portions to be small. Again, wish I had a photo! I loved the salad and only had about 1/2. Give them a try! The interior decor is changed a lot from when Sonoma was here. It's much crosier. They also have outside dining in the front AND the back! Good for them! I have been to this place three times and the beef stroganoff is the only thing I order because it is so delicious (most of the time). The inconsistency is the problem. The first and third time (amazing). The second time - they ran out of the right kind of noodles so they served it over spaghetti and it was a watery mess. They didn't tell me this was the case, I had to say something after I got my food. I hate sending food back like most people and at this point I was informed they had ran out of some ingredients to make the dish. Apparently instead of just saying they were out, they were just winging it with what they had. They swapped me out for the meatloaf with no problems, but it was not memorable enough for me to order again. read more

It is a remake of an old favorite. The owners have maintained excellent onsite supervision and quality control. The cheese board is likely the best in town, always plentiful servings and well balanced choices. The shrimp and grits are spot on comfort food with a Sriracha twist, the bacon done well and the shrimp still tender. The beef stroganoff is excellent, cooked well with plentiful mushrooms and balanced with onions in a tasty gravy. Steaks and salads are consistently high above Tulsa's average fare. Restaurant was recommended by a local person, as I was in Tulsa on business. Everything - food, service, ambiance - was excellent. Lunch on a Saturday, on one of the first warm days in March, the place was pretty empty. Started with the perfect drink for a warm, spring day - mulled Strawberry, Cucumber vodka, limeade. New on the menu was Avocado fries with ranch - I've never heard of such thing. The slices of avocado must be seasoned, then dip in a breading with spices, deep fried. Sounds weird but tastes amazing. Their soup of the day, bacon corn chowder - really good. The grilled romaine Caesar salad was topped with a nice dressing. This was the first time that I got the opportunity to visit my sister at college since she moved there. We had a great weekend and she showed me the Brookside area. We had no trouble deciding that this is where we wanted to return for dinner. Ol'Vine stood out as a classy joint on our initial drive through, but we had a few options that we were looking at. Ol'Vine is very central at the hub of the street. There is a great little parking lot and back entrance behind the restaurant and upon looking at the menu, we decided it was something that we were in the mood for. The food is pretty standard "American New". You have your steak and pasta and salads. Nothing of a very different food genre. We were seated outside by request and had a nice view of the street. There were cute lights strung on the gate. It was very loud out there but not to be unexpected. We ordered onion strings for an appetizer and they were good. A bit hard to eat and messy but yummy all the same. I'm not sure that I would order them again though. For our entrees, I ordered the mushroom gnocchi and my sister ordered the citrus chicken. My entree was good and what I expected. It was filling and listed at a reasonable price for what I ordered. My sister was less pleased with her meal, saying that the citrus was overpowering and the food on the plate was mixed in a way that made some things soggy when they shouldn't have been. Enjoyed this little place for drinks and appetizers. Darling covered cozy patio! They have super comfy outdoor couches you can enjoy sipping while watching busy and eventful brookside. If you need a break from shopping all the fun boutiques this is your place! My friend and I ordered the cranberry mule and it was super delicious and refreshing! Couldn't even taste the alcohol which isn't always great but hey.. it was a girls day! They even serve them in the cute copper mule mugs. We then ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were spicy! They were full of flavor but indeed spicy which the menu didn't note so take note! We did finish them all which the appetizer comes with lots so it's plenty to share! The service was great we stayed a couple hours and never was rushed and the staff always kept being attentive and refilling our drinks. There is plenty of parking behind and the place even offers a back entrance which is nice. They do take reservations which is great! Ol'Vine is one of the restaurants in Tulsa that we visit regularly. I was disappointed only once, yesterday, when I wanted something light so asked the server if the Roasted Cauliflower (stated to be "Calabrian chili aioli, parmesan") would be in that category. When it arrived, it was mostly broccoli (!!), some cauliflower, and soaked in butter and coated in sauce that was indistinguishable from nacho cheese sauce. It was more like broccoli rice casserole than an upscale appetizer at a hidden-gem restaurant. If the recipes have changed, the menus need to be updated and the servers need to be informed about the ingredients and preparation of each dish. (I would have preferred to send this message to them privately but they don't have a website with a Contact Us link.) We will definitely visit again, though. read more

This was my favorite stop along the taste of Brookside tour! They seated us and made sure that we each had a nice plate of food and the signature drink. We were checked on several times and I believe a couple of times they were by the owners. I'm not sure what the signature cocktail was because it was kind of loud in the restaurant and I couldn't hear when she told us but it was good and very boozy. The meal was a creamy risotto with some sort of braised onions on top and it was very good. I did not eat the ceviche because I do not like shrimp but my table seem to you enjoy it somewhat but not as much as the risotto dish. I was interested to see what they did after they became a new restaurant and Sonoma closed. I will definitely go back here for a regular meal soon! read more

We have not been to this restaurant in years, but had a good recommendation from friends adding that they had a new Chef. This was a Wednesday night and they were not busy. We Ordered cocktails which were prepared to my specifics and reasonably priced. Grace waited on us and was delightful. Appetizer was avocado fries, delicious, and a meal itself. Entree was iron skillet red fish which we split and still took some home, on a bed of spinach and grits. $4 charge for split was fair as the portion was generous and the sides were worth it.
