Omar's is right across my office - this establishment is intended to be a quick grab and go, so you'll have to order your food and take it to go to eat back at the office or at a nearby park. It's run by a couple who is friendly and quick with their service. Portions are generous and very fairly priced. *Water not provided!* My friend and I decided to check out Omar's Mediterranean Cuisine around 5pm on a Monday. There is an air-conditioned seating area in the back, which can sit several parties. However, during our visit, I think they had an electrical overload, which caused everything to shut off for a second. That was enough to have a strong gas smell permeate the restaurant, so I was grateful we were almost done. Water not being provided really irks me if a restaurant has a sit-down area. My friend got a chicken pita ($17.50) and I got the kaufta kabob platter with baba ganousgh and cucumber/yogurt salad ($21.50). For the amount of meat, I felt like the platter was overpriced, though I understand the location in the financial district means pricier food. That said, I really enjoyed my food. The kaufta had amazing flavor, which went well with the sides. They also gave us a complimentary baklava, which was perfectly flaky and the right amount of sweetness. Service was okay. The staff was friendly when we ordered, and we had one check back. Since they don't provide water, I cannot comment on that. This is also a place where you have to go up to the cashier to pay, so there isn't too much the staff needs to do aside from bringing the food. Omar's is a small restaurant that is tucked away near the Moxy hotel. There is a seating area in the back, but is set up well for fast service. I got Omar's signature dish which is lamb, chicken kebab, and chicken shawarma, with 2 sides. It also came with pita and we got hummus and a yogurt salad for the table. I came here a couple of weeks ago and let me tell this place blew me away. This place was so delicious and the staff was so friendly. I am so shocked this place is here because I have never seen it before. I definitely recommend it and to be honest it is a hidden gem and a must stop because the lunch special is a steal. The employees are really nice. I ordered the vegetarian lunch and I didn't even miss the meat. The falafel was so good and the hummus was also delicious. They also give you a free dessert at the end which was so nice. Also their sauces are so good. This place blew my mind away. Walked in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised there was room to dine in. The menu is posted above on the wall. The server took my order and questions with patience and grace. I always ask a ton of questions about the dressings, the heat levels, and options. You pay at the end of the counter and take a seat. The order was delivered promptly. Both pitas passed the taste test by having warm protein, chilled lettuce and tomatoes with the delicious white sauce. I recommend everyone should try this restaurant. read more

Omar's was GREAT. The customer service and the food were excellent, and they were priced fairly, too. We stopped on a whim, and as soon as we got in, the diverse crowd was a sign--we were in for a treat. It was some of the best Shawarma I've had. There was limited seating, and during the busy lunch hour, they had asked customers to save tables for those with the right-sized parties. I cant believe this was my first time trying Omar's! Starting off with the food, portions we enormous for the price and quality was really good. My order lasted for 4 meals - dinner for my partner and I, along with 2 lunches for myself, the following days. Both the chicken and lamb were delicious and lots of accompanying sides and sauces. Absolutely Amazing. It's fast and good service. I also have to say $22 for the Omar's mixed grill special of lamb, chicken and chicken shwarma. I have a large appetite and can finish most foods. The portion in this was very large. I have enough to eat tomorrow for lunch. The eggplant salad has cilantro and is a tomato sauce and is very tasty The chicken was moist and very flavorful. Kebab was solid. I recommend chicken. The falafel was good too. The cherry on top is that the meal comes with a tiny cup of baklava that they threw in. HOW AMAZING!!!! Each table had extra sauce for you to put in it and it was amazing. I'm missing it right now as I'm typing this. The chicken shawarma was juicy with flavor and seasoned well and the lamb had a kick to it. There was so much meat it spilled into the salad which was like an extra side meal! They also gave us baklava which was a wonderful touch and that was also delicious and flaky. There is a small amount of tables but we went around 2pm so it wasn't too busy. Terrible, Terrible experience. The delivery guy lied about his ability to deliver up to my apartment saying that building security wouldn't let him upstairs. I would have respected him more for saying he didn't want to come up. Secondly, the food came super-fast (way ahead of schedule) which is normally a good thing except for the fact that the food was ice-cold. I threw it in the trash. Everything I tasted as exceptional . Dining in was also very relaxing and service given was without flaws . My meal was bbq chicken with rice and hummus and they added a salad automatically and it came with bread which seemed fresh . Everything and I mean everything was A+ . The poultry chunks came with my choice of 2 side dishes, for which I selected the Turkish Eggplant and the Greek Salad. The eggplant was served cold, when I had thought it would be warm, but I simply adored it! The dish was similar to an Italian eggplant caponata. The salad was also spectacular! It was fresh, crisp, and full of creamy feta. The platter was served with some of the fluffiest pita bread that I had ever had. Lastly, they threw in a few bite-sized squares of uber-fresh Baklvah, which offered thick layers of phyllo dough and sweet nut filling. There was some construction going on outside, but inside was clean and cozy with a takeout deli-style line and a 4-5 small tables in the back. We decided to dine in since it wasn't too crowded at the time. Of note, they do not have high chairs available! For our party of 5 adults and 1 toddler, we decided to share 2 mixed grill platters (mix of chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, and kaufta kabob) and 1 smoked grilled chicken platter with an extra side of pita. We chose a variety of sides (each plate comes with 2 sides) including hummus, baba ganoush, turkish eggplant, fries, yogurt cucumber, and falafal. We were impressed by all the sides and were pleasantly surprised that each platter also came with an additional small side salad. Sauce available included a garlic sauce, hot sauce, and tahini sauce. Portions were generous for the price, and it was enough food for all of us.
