Place is a health code violation waiting to happen, food is terrible and not worth the price

We went there for dinner and the food was very bad. We ordered a steak sandwich and beef dip also fries The steak sandwich was over cooked and very hard to chew, the beef dip was very dry and the au jus sauce was very salty hard to use but the fries were good to eat. My co-workers have been telling me to come here for the past four months after I joined the company. They kept on saying, "Get the breakfast burrito". Well, you know what they say. You are what you eat, and I don't need any help looking like a burrito - LOL. I ordered the double angus cheeseburger combo (w/ fries and a 20 oz drink) for $6.99. My friend ordered the gyro special for $5.99. We split the burger and gyro as well as an order of rings for $2.30. They also have full breakfast, pastrami, fish and other sandwiches at reasonable prices. The cheeseburger was OK. It was massive (two 1/4 lb patties) and it took me a while to eat my half. It comes dressed with thousand island dressing, a tomato and shredded lettuce. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat was just OK. The burgers are charbroiled but it was dry, (indicative of cheaper quality meat). The fries on the other hand, were really good: Nice and golden brown, piping hot and a nice sized portion: 3 Stars combined. My friend liked the gyro. However, in my opinion the meat lacked seasoning and the tzatziki sauce didn't have much cucumber flavor and didn't include mint leaves. Well, "WTH did you expect Joe?" - This is Omega, not a fancy, schmancy Greek place. I will split the difference: 3 Stars. The order of onion rings was massive. However, they were overcooked and the batter was not that good. I like a thicker batter so the onions stay moist. The batter was thin and the onions were dry: 2 Stars. The service is OK. They make everything to order so it took a little while for us to get our food. I also noticed they charge 40 cents for ranch, blue cheese et al. We didn't order any additional dressings, but 40 cents?! Why not 25 cents or 50 cents? That makes No "Cents". Another thing to note is that they take cash only. I had cash, but someone told me they charge over $2 for an ATM fee. WTF?!?! Most of the specials start at $5.99, so the fee as a percentage to cost of the items on the menu is, Non "Cents" . Every town needs a local joint like this and Omega fits the bill for Downtown Orange. I am pretty sure its a chain, although I have never been to any other locations. I will give one star for the each of the reasons why I would come back: 1) When I am looking for big portions; 2) I am hungover; 3) And lastly, when I don't want to spend too much. I can honestly say it was hard not to give it a 2 star - but I want to tell myself I just came on a bad day. The service wasn't bad as the guy working the register was attentive with our order. But he didn't seem interested in any eye contact, didn't want to crack a smile, and didn't seem very interested in his job. The food we got was mediocre. Over fried chicken with the chicken dinner, the most bland french fries imaginable, the grilled ham and cheese was a let down, and the dining area seems well used and needs an update. On the positive side, its been around for a while so something about the establishment has kept it alive. Its in a good location, so there is plenty to do (and other restaurants to try if you leave disappointed). And the menu has plenty of selections, so if one entree doesn't work out, there is bound to be something else worth giving a try (which I may take that advise). read more

We had burgers and a gyro, super delicious! Fries and zucchini were also good. The prices are very reasonable. The review is all about the quality and value of the food. Plus the staff were very helpful and friendly. The place itself is dated but when your food is good doesn't matter. We will be back for sure. read more

I wish there was a way to give this half a star. My wife and I had gone to this place and picked up a cheese burger and a tuna sandwich combo and a chef salad. Sadly the only thing that was good from this meal was the diet soda. Lets begin 1. Fires were no season and tasted like they had been sitting out for couple hours. They were thrown away after a couple bites. 2. Cheese Burger no taste whats so ever, no seasoning just taste like meat on bread nothing special. 3. Chef Salad was gross, I don't know how you F up a salad but these guys did. 4. My wife and I didn't get any sleep that night because we to busy taking turns in the restroom. All night long. Pastrami sandwich gave me food poisoning. Sick for days afterward. Low quality meats all around. Service is slow inside. Don't recommend.

I ordered online and it was ready within 20 minutes. Love their hamburgers we were shorted an order of fries so make sure you check your bag before you leave. Had the taquitos, they were ok. Had the fried zucchini, it was ok but could have used some tzatziki sauce. The service was great. I recommend the hamburgers, carne asada burrito and fish sandwich. read more

Wow! It's an oddball combination, but their Pastrami burrito is a mouthful of delicious and satisfying flavors. Get it "fully loaded" woth cheese, mustard, pickles and onions inside. It's a massive quantity of food and so savory and satisfying. Can't comment on anything else on the menu, as we only get the Pastrami Burritos and order always at least one extra for a delish meal the next day. These monsters feed 2 people. Never eaten inside either, always do the drive through and enjoy at home with a nice cold beer or two! Try it, you WILL like it! read more

I first walked with my boyfriend into the Omega Burger and was greeted by the aroma of delishious, freshly made food. I walk up to the counter to order and i browse the menu. My boyfriend orders us the 1/4 burger meal. They hand us a number along with two cups. I go to the soda machine to find a variety of sodas ranging from so far. I of course choose Dr Pepper as I am a Dr Pepper type of gal. I go to choose my seat and the tables are spotless. We choose our seat in this soft, cushioned area next to the window, where we can admire the beauty of the downtown city of Orange. We wait for only a few minutes before we are delivered our meal; two burgers, two fries, and a cup of ranch. We munch right in and the flavors hit my tongue like they never have before. This burger had brought back so many childhood memories of running around in my yard on a hot summer day, playing with my siblings while my father cooks at the BBQ, making us burgers. This burger had brought me to tears. My depression had seized to exist the second I bit into this burger, it had saved my life.. Everything was portioned perfectly and the presentation was beauitful. Not to ignore the fries, they were crispy but soft and warm on the inside. Their ranch was so beautifully tangy and addicting, the best ranch I've ever had. When I had finished, I was perfectly full and not over stuffed or left hungry. I never fail to go back everytime I visit Orange. First off, if you're look for vegan or vegetarian food: probably don't go to a burger joint. Just a good rule of thumb. This place isn't fancy and has absolutely no bells and whistles but if you're looking for a good charbroiled burger, this place is it! This is an old building and given its physical state (inside and out) they likely haven't had a renovation since the 70's. They have a drive thru, but man, that thing looks tattered. But if you can go past looks, this is an enjoyable spot. Their menu is kind of a hodgepodge of a bunch of types of food: want a burger? Got it. Burrito? Got it. Shrimp basket? Yep, got it. I decided to stick to what I already know I like: a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, and- horchata. The bacon cheeseburger was delicious. Great charbroiled flavor with plenty of bacon. The onion rings were ok but I could've gone for some more seasoning. The horchata was a tad heavy on the cinnamon side, but it was definitely homemade, not that Aguas Frescas horchata. I thought the service was good. The lady who took our order was friendly and efficient. They take AmEx too, which kind of surprised me given how no bells and whistles this place is, but it was a good surprise. read more

Big fan of Omega burgers from way back, so when I went to this Omega I knew the food would not fail. The food was OK the chili needs some work, it is too thick and just sits on top of the fries. That is not the reason I am writing review. The inside is dirty, dirty floors, walls, trash area, dirty torn seats. Come on people. It was nearly 11 so I doubt if it was due to a full days work. One of the cooks I saw as he handed me my to go food, that he had dry brittle fingers, his thumb was cracked open on one side and disgusting! He licked his fingers to get the plastic bag to open it up. This man places his hand into your food to prepare it! Cheese, lettuce in the water etc. He was not the one who prepared my food but who knows what the other cooks hands were like. I couldn't eat my food thinking of this and sad to say I will not return to this facility again. Good prices though but vs the disgusting staff that handle your food...I would rather cook at home. Last time I come to this place! What happen to the workers. My family, extended family and friends have been coming to this place for the past 20+ years. Today was a true deception! Went through drive thru and asked for some Cajun sauce which I always put on my burger and fries when I eat there. The order taker did not know what I was talking about and then the rude old lady at the service window was very disrespectful and rude! All this while chewing her gum in the kitchen area! Eww! The cook was also using his phone and scratching his head and he went ahead and grabbed the fries to fry them with his contaminated hands! I get breakfast burritos weekly and get the gyro on a regular. Best "old school" diner/burger joint in Orange, hands down. Golden Fire use to be the next closest thing to them but they burned down. Drive thru service seems to be a bit faster then going in. Good prices and generous portions. read more

Evidently, the attached picture is what you get when you order a "double burger, plain, no cheese, no lettuce or tomato. Just a plain double burger; the meat and the bun." It's not bad tasting, but ordering through the drive through is a chore. The speaker is so static filled, you wonder if they can hear what you say. I guess if you order things unmodified they would come out ok, but with their drive through system, it's just not worth it to drive fifteen minutes home and find out they screwed up your order if you order anything deviating from the posted forms on the menu board.
