    Walnut and Banana Walnut Pancakes
    Tae P.

Went here solo ordered the banana-walnut stack, the pancakes are dense but good! One star off because they still only have pork sides and cash only! Overall, I felt welcomed and the food was good, not too expensive either. Please get turkey substitute it would put you over the competition.

Loved my breakfast. My whole family really enjoyed their breakfasts. Make sure you make a reservation, they are always filled.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ New England Seafood Chowder - Very good. Came out piping hot and had lots of potato chunks, carrots and fish inside. Only knock is we wish we had more! + Clam Pizza - Personal pie size pizza. Honestly, just the right size. Verrrrry delicious and verrrrry flavorful, BUTTTTT the flavor didn't come from the clams - it came from the over-dominating flavor of the bacon scattered all over the pizza. Not to say that the bacon flavor was bad, but it could have used more clams. + Kids Mac and Cheese - Gooey just the way we, especially our kids, love it. + Grilled Angus Burger - Solid burger. Cooked medium and it was the right shade of pink inside, but the burger was a litttttle dry. It was not dripping juices and oil as I would prefer. Plenty of fries onions on it though. Fries reminded me of the thin McD fries. + Steak Tacos - Just 2 tacos. Would have liked if it was an order of 3. Steak was good though. Guac inside mixed with the steak chunks definitely made it better considering that the steak was well done. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Friendly and courteous waiter. Accommodated our numerous ketchup requests and never forgot anything. + Food came out VERY quickly. - For the Grilled Angus Burger, cheese did not come with it for free, but the waiter asked what cheese I wanted, which misled me to think that cheese came with the order. I ended up adding swiss cheese, which definitely made the burger better, but it was an extra charge. The extra $2 for the cheese was not the issue, but the way that I felt that the waiter misled me was the issue. Instead of asking what cheese I wanted, he should have asked "Would you like cheese with your order?" It's the principle. Feel me? Because of this, had to knock off a star off what would have been a 4-star review. THE SURROUNDINGS -------------------------------- + Private parking lot was in the back. All of the spaces in the front are for the Rye Train Station and paid, so DO NOT park in front of the restaurant if you're here to dine. + SUPER spacious restaurant with 2 levels - 2nd level seems like it is for private parties. 1st level has 3 dining areas PLUS a nice, huge bar area. + Multiple TVs located by the bar. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- + Came by on a random August Friday at 11:45 AM and, as expected, it was pretty quiet at first, but business picked up verybquickly and it became pretty busy by 12:45.

    - Large, spacious restaurant with a rustic yet classy vibe; plenty of seating throughout, including…read moretables, booths, and a bar; second-level space for private events, along with outdoor seating in the front - Small, somewhat tight private parking lot located to the left of the restaurant--easy to miss if you're not looking for it - Service was friendly, attentive, and consistent throughout our meal - Food was enjoyable overall: seafood chowder was served piping hot and loaded with generous chunks of fish, potatoes, and carrots--flavor was excellent, although we were surprised it wasn't served with oyster crackers for some added crunch; steak tacos were tasty and well-flavored, but the portion was quite small for an entrée; the clam pie was well prepared with a pleasantly chewy dough--was quite heavy on the bacon, which unfortunately overpowered the clam flavor, but it was still a good pie overall; the grilled angus burger had good flavor and cooked to the requested medium, though it wasn't as juicy as expected--the crispy onions were also more chewy than crispy; kids' mac and cheese was nice and gooey--a solid choice for the kiddos

We had unsweetened iced teas, and the kids' seltzer came in a kid-sized cup. After ordering, we were served cornbread sticks, which were really good and a hit with my son. Elwood also brought crayons and paper for him, which was a thoughtful touch. We started with the gator nuggets and frickles. The gator nuggets were our favorite appetizer. The frickles were good, but the batter was fairly thick, which made the pickle flavor a little subtle. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken was nicely crispy and came with four pieces, though it was a little overcooked for my taste. The collard greens were on the sweet side, and the mac and cheese could have used a bit more flavor. The highlight of our visit was the service. Elwood was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of checking in without being overbearing. Overall, the food was a bit mixed for us, but the excellent service, family-friendly touches, and pleasant outdoor seating made for an enjoyable experience. We'll be back to try some of the other menu items.
