Great place and great location!!! The food choices are excellent and amazing. Healthy choices are in the menu as well. I don't even call this cafe it is like a fancy restaurant because of how great the waiters are and how they are always asking if the customers need any thing. Local friends took me here for Sunday breakfast, citing a surprising lack of places in the area for good weekend breakfast. Staff were very friendly, but I give them only one star (not recommended) mainly because the prices were substantially higher than the amount or quality of the food served. $40 (before tip) for basically three average omelets, unevenly toasted supermarket bread (without jams offered), mushy home fries, run-of-the-mill coffee and one juice is over-priced. There was absolutely nothing memorable or homemade about any of these items to justify costing together any more than about $25. If you don't believe me, go and see for yourself. Also, the orders weren't written down, and we received mixed up toasts and one omelet had only two of three fillings correct. Just careless. This place has plenty of potential and could probably be significantly improved if the owners tried harder. Either adjust the prices down to reflect the mediocre quality of the food, or invigorate the menu with more creative options, better portions, and most importantly, better, more "upscale," quality ingredients. read more

Found On the Way Cafe through yelp, while looking for a different place for brunch. It is hard to describe the uniqueness of the cafe, but suffice it to say you need to go there to discover this character. We were greeted by a hostess who walked us through the entire list of baked goods, each item better than the next. There were three of us and we each had a different pastry and a different breakfast item. Everyone feasted. Don't forget to make reservations and bring cash - no credit cards. I am still basking in the memory of the delicious lunch I enjoyed with friends yesterday at the very charming On the Way Cafe. We sat at the counter and ordered the wraps, and they definitely lived up to their reputation of being the best in Westchester. The wraps are homemade on the premises and irresistably yummy. The fillings are fresh, locally sourced and partly organic. We ordered the grilled vegetable with bacon and cheddar and grilled chicken with vegetables, mozzarella and bacon. They also made their own aioli to dress the wraps and sprinkled a little pepper on the plate to add a spicy note if one wanted. One word of warning is that the wraps are quite large so lunch was very filling. The owners were very friendly and welcoming which greatly enhanced our experience. I will definitely be returning here. It's a real treasure. read more

Absolutely charming place - small, homey, quiet. The staff is warm and welcoming, provides great clear descriptions of the offerings, and makes you want to try everything. The eggs are particularly awesome, as is the crumb cake and really terrific coffee. Blueberry pancakes are good, but not as good as the banana walnut ones. I'll be back - hopefully soon! read more

It used to be a very pleasant experience but, since changing ownership and management recently, service has deteriorated noticeably. We tried having a cozy family breakfast on 3/16/08; were met with poor service, cold food and a very unfriendly manager. When paying the bill (reluctantly) I complained to the manager about the above mentioned service and food quality, who then told us very loudly to "GET OUT", which of course we did, very happily (after paying). I went with my daughter on a Tuesday at noon. The place was almost empty. When I asked to be seated on the perimiter against the wall, I was told those seats were for groups of three are more. I would have smiled, said thank you and good-bye, but my daughter is somewhat demure. The group tables are sets of two tables, each measuring approximately 3' X 3.' Any waiter worth his salt would have done a little table sliding to accommodate the two of us. I won't go back unless I am with a group of three or more - which probably won't happen because, as you can see, I have zero friends. (I wouldn't mind sitting at the counter by myself.) I'm a regular at the Mamaroneck Diner, and they'll give me a booth for six if there are just two of us; and that's when there is a line out the door. The prices are on the high side for diner food. That wouldn't be so bad, but I did not get the high caliber of service I give my customers. When we exited On the Way Cafe, it was just as empty as when we entered. On a positive note, the staff is pleasant, the decor is cozy, and the food is decent with healthy intentions in some instances. I truly wish this business success, but they've got to want it! read more

I stopped in with my wife for breakfast as it was recommended to us as a great place for breakfast. Food was good, portions are very small for the price. I find 3.00 for a small cup of coffee is a bit much & charged me for syrup for my pancakes. I don't think I will be back, I know its Rye but give me a break. read more

Don't try this place if it's a holiday. First, they changed their regular menu which never changes for a "special" mother's day menu. "Special" meaning less choices because they were expecting a busy day for mother's day and needed to make sure the kitchen was not overwhelmed. Come on now you're in the restaurant business. You have a fixed number of tables and all of a sudden you can't handle it. Of course, the dish I came there for was not available. Strike One. Next: we asked for a simple fried egg with broken yoke for my 23-month old as he is used to that at home. The waitress took our order and minutes later returned to inform us the they could only cook the four or so double egg types listed on the menu. OMG! How hard is it to smash the yoke with a fork on a fried egg while still in the frying pan. I would have ordered the two eggs and eaten one myself had they just been willing to make it the way I asked. So much for being even a little bit accommodating. Strike Two. Lastly, we felt like they couldn't move us out of the place fast enough. They offered to remove dishes from our table still with food on them a minimum of four times. Each time a different person would ask. And we were not dawdling. With a 23-month old you don't dawdle. For Pete's sake, I would like to have the opportunity at least to finish what's on my plate. Why do I need to keep stating so. Our total time in the restaurant: 35 minutes. Not exactly qualifying as loitering. Strike Three -- You're Out! It's a good place usually, but I wouldn't go there again on a "special" day. read more
