My last review looked at One Shot's older location on Liberties Walk. But ever since it moved to the larger spot on George St. One Shot has really stepped up its game and has become one of the more notable brunch/breakfast destinations in NoLibs. The seasonal cafe menus are a true revelation that bring out the best ingredients. Its great to see a menu that features tantalizing savory options like huevos rancheros and and the house fried chicken ad 2 eggs on brioche toast combo of Chicken & The Egg along with sweet options like croissant French toast and blueberry ricotta blintzes. But sandwiches like the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich with 2 fired eggs, bacon, and a hashbrown patty are pretty touch to resist. Its also welcome to see Stumptown as there house coffee, as well as the fact that they occasionally offer brews from the likes of Rival Bros. and ReAnimator as pour overs. the specialty lattes and espresso are both fantastic in their own right too. Downstairs offers plenty of spot to get comfortable while you get some work done on their free wi-fi. But its spacious upper area offers up even more possibilities. read more

I have been coming here for years! I am coming back from Argentina today and I'm so excited for their coffee tomorrow! They cater to my gluten free needs and I'm vegan.... and they truly do have they best staff. I love this place and, I can't wait to enjoy an espresso with honey! This is a sweet little coffee shop in the Northern Liberties section of Philly. My dining partner had the best almond croissant he has had in a unicorn's age. At 7 am it is blissfully not crowded, but I can well imagine it gets packed later in the day. The huevos rancheros look nothing like what I see at home in Colorado- it looks better! It was insanely mountainous. The breakfast burrito was also enormous. read more

Outrageously expensive for what it is. Everyone here is unhappy at the world and has no interest in doing their actual job. Owner opened up a huge coffee shop in a hipster neighborhood and wonders why people show up with a laptop to do some work. She'll come yell at you if she thinks you've been there too long and they close the upstairs area right after breakfast so they can kick out anyone on a laptop. They change the Wi-Fi password daily so they can vet you before they let you online. Didn't order enough? No password for you. She also got caught stealing employees credit card tips - twice. Once could be wrote off as a mistake. But twice? No wonder everyone hates working there. Bizarre. read more

One Shot is a great spot tucked off the main 2nd Street strip in Northern Liberties. What makes it special is the atmosphere and interior. It's great for grabbing a coffee and snack then either enjoying the hustle bustle downstairs or the calming upstairs with a mini-library while you crank out work! The food from the menu itself is OK. Again, it's the environment that makes this place special - so the food is more so a side bar. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and French Toast. The Huevos Rancheros was presented nicely, but the execution of the dish was off. There wasn't any particular ingredient that delivered a distinct flavor - no zest in the guac, no spice in the beans, no fresh taste of salsa. They all blended together to give just an ok dish. On the sweet side, the french toast was decent. The bread was not standout, but I did like the subtle taste of the added Dulce De Leche syrup. The sauce could have used a bit more thickness as it was runny and hard to soak the toast in. Overall, food is ok. However, the main purpose of this spot is what makes it great! read more

Great trendy place for breakfast, coffee or brunch! The menu is small BUT everything you could crave in on there. I got the veggie bagel sandwich and added pork sausages to it for a few more dollars. The place is clean, friendly and offers a nice seating arrangement. The coffee menu is so TRENDY - with unique options to try for and their seasonal flavors sound amazing!!!! read more

One shot was one of my show-off-the-neighborhood spots, but service has been an epic miss. We waited 40 mins for 3 breakfast sandwiches a few weeks ago. Today, a sandwich came out in 10 minutes but a burrito took 50. We mentioned it TWICE to staff, who told us it was being expedited, and it still took 15 mins more, until we had to ask the kitchen directly to wrap it to-go. This was not a particularly crowded morning. The value is a bit of a stretch. $20 for sand+drink before tip doesn't hold up well to others like La Colombe, Cafe La Maude, or Honey's. They "don't have WiFi on the weekends", which I thought was odd. I hope your cell service is strong while you wait forever for your food. read more

Hidden in some side streets in Northern Liberties, this cute little coffee shop has a solid espresso menu, delicious pastries, and a brunchy menu. Pictures with this review feature a sweet scone and a savory pastry (cheesy). They tasted as good as they photographed. All their coffee drinks are good as well. Usually not crowded. So its not hard to get a spot which is important to me because I like to sit because I'm lazy. read more

I liked this spot for awhile but recently it has been plagued with extremely long kitchen times, and messed up orders. The gentleman behind the register had no idea what we were ordering from their menu and proceeded to not order half of our order. So, after waiting 20 mins for their kitchen to finally make our order it came out incorrect. Truly a shame, don't know if they aren't scaling correctly to manage the business but today was the last time I'll be stepping in. If you ever do try to order, order in advanced for pickup so you don't have to waste your time and energy and their staff can't mess up your order. read more

The vibes in this place are undeniable. It has really great seating options, from comfy couches on the second floor to cushioned and hardback seating throughout. They also have what looks like a delicious food menu, though I did not get anything to eat this time, I was just passing through for coffee and a quick sit. Speaking of quick sits lol they made it very clear they don't want us work from anywhere folks squatting in there for hours without buying something. They have signs on the door that say they limit you to 90 minutes upstairs if you're not eating. Fair enough I guess. Anyway, I had the hazy almond cafe au lait. It was delicious and appropriately priced. My only complaint is that it was cold as heck in there! It was a rainy day and about 50 degrees in October. Maybe they just didn't turn the heat on yet? Anyway, I will be back to try out the food. And if you're looking for a 90-minute coffee stop, this is a great choice. read more

This place is a urban hipster vibe. It is located in northern Liberties which is an upcoming town for local mom and pop shops. I love the feel of the restaurant, you have area for individual who want to work,social areas and a bar top area. This restaurant has an upstairs which is extremely needed since the restaurant is quite narrow. Alba,Kate and Cammy were so sweet! They really knew the menu and can tell what your preference is in order for you to make the best decision. I order the tofu chorizo and sweet potato hash with hash browns! This was great, would have loved for it to be a tad spicer! The portion size was filling! I will definitely visit again! read more

One of my favorite coffee shops in Fishtown. I'm actually writing this review while sipping one of their Apple Cider Donut lattes - an amazing blend of apple cider and espresso. It's topped with homemade whipped cream. Tastes like a dessert that really wakes you up :) Also tried the Brussels sprouts for brunch - it's a huge serving. Probably would be best to split between 2 people. It's also one of my favorite places to do work in this area! Seating is very limited so make sure you come early enough to secure one of the 7 booths or 2 coffee tables. The staff is super friendly. read more

This place should be on a lot of peoples short list for breakfast. You pay at the register and get a number for your food to arrive at the table of your choosing. Breakfast burgers are a go to here along with a nice coffee. From my few times here, since it is tucked around the corner from everything, and in Northern Liberties, it gets enough traffic to be well involved in the community, but not overly packed as to have to wait long periods of time to get a seat. It is a place to really sit back, relax, enjoy ...essentially the type of vibe a coffee shop should have. read more

The interior is absolutely beautiful: the outdoor area is small but cute and refreshing, the inside is equally lovely much larger than it looks with an upstairs section and plenty of seating. Great for any occasion: breakfast with the family, cute date, brunch with friends, or just a day out on your own. I ordered the blueberry pie chai was amazing. The milk was foamed perfectly and there was a perfect blend of blueberry and chai with each complimenting each other rather than overshadowing; it was a little too sweet. However, someone else had taken my drink by accident and the barista seemed to have an attitude with me although I was waiting patiently. read more

One Shot Coffee is fantastic!!! Wife and I went to Philly to get away for the weekend and we were very pleased with the city of brotherly Love. One shot hit the spot after a rocking hard concert at the Fillmore on Saturday. Didn't make it in time for their breakfast special but sure wish I had. The latte, salmon eggs Benedict, & Blueberry scone I had more than hit the spot. They are Hipsters and their creativity delivers from food, atomsphere, coffee, and clothing. Folks at the restaurant were very friendly, helpful, & welcoming. We'll definitely be back for Philly Trip #2. Thanks One Shot! read more

So I'm doing computer work upstairs and I figure may as well patronize with a food order. Well One Shot did not disappoint. Look Ive had Avocado Toast all over the city and One Shot Avocado toast was by far the best ever, no one comes close. You have to understand most avocado toast comes with the Avocado smashed into the toast and it's very heavy. However One shot has a whole different angle. They take the avocado and put it in slices on top of the multi grain toast with the lettuce and the cherry tomatoes and now for the big event: Crispy Chickpeas.... are you kidding me,, totally amazing flavor and addition ,,, brilliant ,,, I mean serious no avocado toast comes close ,, look Melissa the owner has been here awhile and knows her stuff,,, it takes experience to know perfection,,,, read more

Very quiet, friendly, neat coffee shop! There's a downstairs and an upstairs with a decent amount of tables to complete work on. I got a toasted marshmallow mocha and it was delicious- however expect to pay the $$. The only reason for the one star off is because their hours are posted wrong- they actually close at 4 and kitchen closes at 3. read more

The reason I sought out One Shot Café was because my previous go to coffee spot, La Colombe (Fishtown Location) has severely declined in their quality of service. There have been some changes in their management and in my opinion, it has not been for the better. I have been an avid fan of La Colombe for about 5-years, well before they achieved the popularity they have now. It used to be a much more inviting environment and the staff was always a pleasure to deal with. In the last 6-months, the overall vibe has changed and customer service is much less friendly. It seems to me that employees are unhappy and I actually ran into a person who used to work for La Colombe, and had for quite some time, at Rival Bros Coffee on Spruce Street. I asked why they left and it was for that exact reason. They stopped enjoying it and the work environment became a negative space to be in. So, here I find myself at One Shot Café for the second day in a row, drinking a perfect Americano and having a bowl of their carrot cake oatmeal, which I had no idea even existed. No worries, it's not just a bowl of sugar, it is nicely balanced and takes a delicious new perspective to oatmeal. Customer service wise, everyone that works here is extremely friendly and they love to talk to their customers. Depending on the day, they might be a little slow making your order, NOT because of lack of effort but because they are in the middle of training some new staff so that they can better accommodate the customers they love very much so be patient, it's worth the wait! The location itself is saturated with character and a welcoming patina from the counter made of recycled wood, the preserved original ceiling, the charming booths, and yes, they do have plenty of exposed brick so rest easy hipsters of North Philly. All in all, the only reason I would go to La Colombe over One Shot Café is to fulfill my craving for their French Toast. Otherwise, One Shot Café is my new and improved go to coffee spot! Got the sweet potato benny and shared it with a friend. The tater cake was really crispy, but the salad was a bit plain (looks like there isn't much to it but I could taste some olive oil and lemon). The poached egg wasn't runny, which I prefer (but did not request, FYI), and the hollandaise was pretty light compared to sauces I've had with other eggs benedicts. I think the sweet potato patty and avocado work quite well with this dish. Don't really care for the salad and not sure how they could make it better...but I really enjoyed the rest of the dish. The place is super cute with a rustic feel. If I lived closer, I think I'd like reading upstairs or getting a drink with a friend if I wasn't coming for a meal. read more

Very quaint spot in no libs. Tucked back, making it a great spot to grab a coffee or brunch with friends. Also makes a great place to study or get work done, since it has a great upstairs section. Bright and beautiful neighborhood coffee shop is filled with wood, old school booths and smiles. I was in town visiting friends and popped in for some morning coffee. I'm lactose intolerant and they are vegan..it was like this place was made for us. I got a soy latte which came out perfect, and two pieces of their vegan bread. The loafs were moist and delicious (not too sweet) officially making me the best house-guest my friends have hosted. The service had smiles and with other hot breakfast options, I've informed my friends that THIS needs to be their go-to neighborhood cafe. read more

One Shot Cafe proudly serves Stumptown Coffee in our carefully crafted coffee drinks and features locally roasted coffee purveyors such as ReAnimator and Rival Bros Coffee by the bag. The cafe menu features New American brunch dishes that a showcase some decidedly international twists, as well as everyone's classic brunch favorites. Weekly specials, grab-and-go meals and snacks, and an outstanding selection of house-made pastry and desserts are offered at the counter. Customers can enjoy fare on two levels of the extensively renovated space, handsomely adorned with refreshed family heirlooms, Philadelphia industrial antiques, and furniture by local artisans.

History

Established in 2005.

One Shot started as a small coffee shop in the newly constructed Liberties Walk of North 2nd street in 2005, however we quickly grew out of our old 20+ seat space. In 2011, we purchased a 3 story former bar, two doors from our original location. With the help of SLDesign and Buckminster Green builders, we remodeled the entire structure to fit our style and sentiment. Using reclaimed lumber as rustic accents the extensively renovated space is handsomely adorned with refreshed family heirlooms, Philadelphia industrial antiques, and custom built furniture by local artisans. We proudly serve Stumptown Coffee, as well as a full brunch menu of seasonal fare in our 82+ seats and two floors of space . Our new home has proved to be an amazing neighborhood addition, and a cafe that truly everyone can enjoy.

K'Far shows how much atmosphere CookNSolo can create within a relatively compact footprint. We have eaten at the high tops, in the main dining room, and at the tables extending into The Harper lobby, and each area feels like part of the same unified experience. The colors and lighting inside are especially warm and inviting, giving the room a glow that feels cozy and uplifting, especially during a Philadelphia winter. Food remains at the center of the experience, and my order is always the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. On the rare occasions when turkey bacon appears, I add it as a welcome delicacy and a little extra sustenance, though the bagel is already delicious on its own. The cinnamon sugar kubaneh, the chocolate chip cookie, and the Bloody Mary are excellent. K'Far has also expanded its selection of bowls and salads since we ate here most regularly, and they look consistent with the quality of everything else. The track, the worldly crowd, and the aroma from the kitchen create the elusive feeling Steve Cook and Mike Solomonov understand so well: people go out to eat because they want to feel seen and be briefly transported into a more vivid version of life. I already love K'Far and The Hoxton as separate brands, so seeing them come together at The Hoxton in Williamsburg feels like an unusually natural and exciting partnership. Creating this kind of social magnetism inside a bakery and café is a subtle achievement, and Philadelphia is richer for having a place with this much flavor, warmth, and personality.

The $10 martinis on Friday were an excellent deal and definitely one of the highlights of the evening. A well-priced martini always sets a promising tone, and these did exactly that. The bartenders were helpful and kept things moving impressively well, even with a group our size, which was much appreciated. The space itself is huge and very clean, with plenty of tables and seating, so it was easy for everyone to spread out, settle in, and enjoy themselves without feeling packed in. A major point in its favour is the setup for watching sports. They have a massive wall of TV screens, plus more TVs throughout the space, which made it very easy to keep up with multiple games at once. No awkward craning for a view, no fighting for the one good seat, just a very solid setup for a group outing. Overall, it was a fun experience and very much in line with the good times we have had at other City Tap locations in DC. A lively, well-run spot for drinks and groups, and one we would happily return to.

Unfortunately on the night we went it was super cloudy and had been raining so the views weren't nearly as good as they could have been. There's a grand staircase that walks down into an even bigger and more open area. Up first, was a $9 hot chocolate and a $23 Bluecoat (Dirty Martini with blue cheese olives). The martini was perfect, exactly how I like it with tiny slivers of ice shards. Second, I had a $30 Gold Espresso Martini with vodka. It was also perfect. Probably the prettiest espresso martini I've ever been served. The leaf design in your drink is pretty sweet. Tons of dates here, anniversaries, vacationers, and people super dressed up. Most certainly look your best if you decide to come. Next time I'm in Philly, I'll certainly be back!

There's tons of seating, BUT it tends to all get taken up quite quickly. Sometimes there's some unhoused around the building, including in the bathrooms despite needing a code to get in, but it's not too much of a detraction of it being a good working and gathering space.

It had the perfect filling-to-bread ratio, and as someone who loves anything Biscoff, this was super satisfying. Both of these donuts were incredibly soft and had the perfect texture. The apple fritter ranked third for us, but it was still really good. It wasn't as sweet as the other two, which was actually nice and helped balance everything out. I do wish it had been a little crispier and had more pieces of apple throughout, but I still enjoyed it. I'd absolutely come back to try more of their donuts, and I definitely want to check out some of their other bakery items too!
