Handle on microwave broken and dryer not working. Ben came that same day. While here, he kindly dislodged a shelf in the fridge that was stuck and opened up the rubber cover of the garbage disposal for better drainage--all with no charge. He installed a fan in the dryer, but it turned out also to need a new motor. He ordered the motor and microwave handle and came back 3 working days later to finish these tasks. The price was reasonable. Because he had to come out twice for the dryer, he did not charge labor the second time. He was courteous, efficient, and in the end totally effective, saving me hundreds of dollars for a new microwave and dryer. If I had any wish, it would be to clean up the floor after his work, but I think cleaning is not part of most service these days. He did remove old parts and boxes. He also found lots of coins under the dryer and bothered to pick them up for us. I would not hesitate to call him again if I needed his services and I recommend him to every one. You don't always find someone as competent and responsive as Mo Ben. read more

Worst service ever Left me without a washing machine for a week what I did not complain, but the day of service you call to let me know you ordered the wrong part even you have all the info??? And then you can't send anybody the next day trying to find the part somewhere else? TLDR: Insisted on unnecessary, over $200 repair that they were unable to carry out and instead broke my dishwasher so that it now leaks and the door pops open during the cycle. Acted all proud of themselves for refunding me the repair costs while costing me additional hundreds of dollars on a dishwasher that was working perfectly well before they showed up (except for a loose screw in the bottom panel at the floor) and now has to be replaced. Refused to stay to observe the problem, promising to come right back if called, then didn't. Appear to have lied to receive personal banking information. Full review: A screw just plain fell out of a panel they removed to replace the door springs on my dishwasher a couple of years ago, so I thought I better call them to make sure there wasn't a bigger problem. They came out, said the problem was just the screw and screwed it back in, then insisted that my gasket was too old and if I didn't replace it immediately (for over $200), my dishwasher would start leaking soon, and I needed to do the repair to prolong my dishwasher's longevity. After they replaced the gasket, the door started popping open during the dishwasher cycle. So they sent a guy out to fix it (who said he had been spending all day fixing the other guy's mistakes), and after he "fixed" it, the door didn't pop open but the dishwasher leaked all over the floor. When he came back to "fix" it again, he didn't start the dishwasher to observe the leak before adjusting the gasket and didn't check to see if the leak was fixed when he was done. Instead, he started the dishwasher then said he had to leave to do other things, but if it started to leak again, we should call him and he'd come back. It started to leak about 10 minutes after he left, and we called him, but he did not come back that day. After he left, not only did it still leak, but the door started popping open during the cycle again and wouldn't stay closed, so I had to stand there for the entire second half of the cycle pushing against the door so it could stay closed and finish the cycle. The next time he came out, he acted like it was our fault the dishwasher was broken because we believed the first guy and went ahead with the recommended repair. He said that he would never recommend replacing a gasket because he could never get dishwashers to work right afterwards. Again, he adjusted the gasket without running the dishwasher and then did not stay to see whether the leak was resolved, saying we should call and he'd come back if there was a leak again, and again blew us off when we called him because it started leaking worse than it had before. The office refunded me the money for the repair after the third time, and when we called them to tell them that we needed the leak repaired and the repair guy kept refusing to stay to see the leak, they acted all annoyed with us like we were inconveniencing them because they had had to go through the trouble of sending their guy out multiple times and told us that, since they had refunded our money, they were done with us. I was not impressed that they didn't charge me for breaking my dishwasher, which now will cost me hundreds of dollars to replace. Another disturbing thing about our experience was that the first guy who came out tried to insist I give him a paper check. When I said that I remembered paying them with a credit card before, he told me his card reader was broken. I was getting a weird vibe off the interaction that made me not want to give him a check with my account number on it, so I told him that I would give him my credit card number and he could run it when he got back to the office. Lo and behold, out comes the card reader, he says he'll give it another try, and my card goes through on the first try - it was working fine. The next time he came out, he tried to insist I give him a check again because he said his card reader was out of power. I told him he was welcome to plug it in to recharge it. He gave me a hangdog look and said, "But it's in my truck," and then just stared at me. I looked back at him and said, "okay." He stared at me for a while before he said, "I'll go get it?" I said, "great," and when he came back a couple of minutes later, he said he couldn't charge it because he couldn't plug it in because he didn't have a plug adapter. I gave him one to borrow. When he plugged it in, there was no delay for the machine to charge up - it worked immediately and he read my card, which is not generally what happens when a device is out of power. I requested to have my dryer repaired. The guy came out and completed the job. However, in repairing the dryer, he bumped up/pushed against my utility sink so hard that it knocked the pipe away from the bottom and my basement flooded. Of course, the repair person didn't admit to what took place but, I'd been washing several times, prior to his visit with no flooding! We'd wash and hang up clothes since, dryer didn't work. So, can't tell whether dryer works cuz, I can't wash clothes!!!! read more

After days showing sign of distress, on Friday our GE refrigerator/freezer began failing outright- not producing ice, cooling to only 25 degrees. Late morning, I called and submitted online requests to several local appliance repair shops. Only a few out of the 7 companies got back to me, and only One Stop could send someone that day. With a rapidly deteriorating freezer, fully stocked with proteins, this was a huge relief. The other 3 companies put us into early and mid next week! They were straightforward on the phone about the likely problem, and transparent on cost and timeline, without prompting! One Stop's rates are fair and their pricing structure is simple- not always the case when repairs run into evening and weekend hours! One Stop readily communicated about scheduling and arrival times via text and phone. The repair person, Ben, was prompt, polite, and very knowledgeable. He worked briskly, observing all standard Covid-19 precautions. Ben was very frank about his diagnosis- a Freon leak of unknown size, origin- not being definitive, and that refilling the Freon is not a guaranteed solution. I called to have my refrigerator repaired the repair man he was on time, but that's the best I can say about this person. During the time he was in my home he did absolutely nothing. Other than unplug my refrigerator and then proceed to tell me that my refrigerator should have been unplugged before he arrived in my home. I informed him that I cut it off and it had been off for almost 8 hours before his arrival. He said it should have been unplugged, I informed him that I was not told this information by the person who I made the appointment with. He said the appointment now needed to be re scheduled. The repair person also stated that he or someone else would need to come back to repair the refrigerator and someone would call to re schedule the appointment. When that person called me he asked if I wanted my appointment rescheduled, as if it was my decision to have this appointment re scheduled instead of the repair man fixing my refrigerator. I told him the situation and he said he would call me back. When he did, he told me no one would be able to come fix my refrigerator for two weeks and that I needed to call another company to have my refrigerator fix. This place has horrible service recovery and I would never ever recommend them to anyone. Now I still have a broken refrigerator in this very hot summer heat. Thanks for nothing. read more

Got back from vacation and freezer was up to 14 degrees, not good. Tried a few places and they said 'next week maybe' this place got my call Late on Saturday and scheduled me for Monday morning 9-noon - he showed up at 10:30 and was fixed within the hour. Very good at communicating (Compressor not working, might be able to fix with a part otherwise replace compressor, might have part in van (he did)) All back up and working for under $300. I called One Stop Appliance Repairs for my refrigerator. A technician came next day but fixed something that didn't need fixing and charged me $300. I called again next day because problem (water leak) wasn't fixed, he came back and turned off my ice maker and said will come back with someone else after COVID situation is better. That was in March. I have called them back several times. Every time I am reassured that original technician will call me back or will come and fix the problem. It's been six months and my ice maker is still off. My hard wood floor is spoiled from the water leak from fridge that he was suppose to fix initially. They replied to my email within hours, set up an immediate visit, diagnosed the problem quickly, had the part in stock (for a German-made ventless dryer, no less), booked a return visit, and needed only 15 minutes for the actual fix.
