Tried to order kalbi ribs and worker said that they don't have such beef and they only have 1 type of beef.I had to read to him that their menu says kalbi short ribs,. He then said "oh the short ribs?" Duh! Don't you know what you are selling. I highly suggest people need to educate their workers because i can't comprehend how he can miss this. T his is ono hawaiian bbq and everyone in hawaii knows kalbi. Just embarrassment. To top it off he ask that he can't only charge me $2 for the kalbi, he has to charge me $3,like seriously? I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night, and it was packed! The line to order was six deep, the ten-line waiting to pick up food was nine deep, and the seating area was full. I saw that employees were working as efficiently as possible while maintaining a friendly environment. The restaurant was well-maintained despite the many people crowded into a small area. My coworker and I were craving Hawaiian bbq and this was nearby. Lunch was definitely served and we were satisfied. I had their bbq chicken, side of chicken katsu and a side of white fish with all steamed vegetables. The chicken was delicious and cooked just right. The white fish was also delicious but the tar tar sauce was an excellent dip for it. The katsu was also pretty good and I used the tar tar to flavor it up. Overall it was a great lunch experience. My pops wanted Hawaiian food for Father's Day so I did some research and found one nearby. I was already familiar with the chain, I used to go to the one in Tustin District location a lot. So I called in my order at around 2PM for pick up at 5:30PM just in case it was busy. The employee confirm my order and my pick up time. Got the family meal with Rice, mac salad, BBQ chicken, Chicken katsu, kalua pork , and i got an extra protein of the Kalbi short ribs. When I got there, I told the employee I was there for the 5:30 pick up and gave her my name. She looked at me confused and she made a comment to her co-worker. It turns out they made the order when I called and not when I told them and confirmed with them on the phone for 5:30PM. So I had to wait around during peak time and wait for them to make it. At that point I was worried that they would take it out on me and put "special sauce" into my food for their mistake. It took about 15 minutes - for my food to be ready. The Tonkatsu/Teri sauce area is hidden in the hall way - its self serve like the other locations. The food was good. Much better than the other Hawaiian food chain. BBQ chicken - was cooked just right. Went well with the Teri sauce. Chicken Katsu - this was overcooked a tad. The panko would fall off also. Kalua Pork - had a good Smokey flavor but was dried out. Kalbi - was nicely cooked, and I was surprised there were so many pieces. Some of them were really fatty though Mac Salad - was ok. The container was not full like how the Tustin location would provide. Overall - I would give it a 3.75. But the mishap of the pick up time and no apology wasn't very good customer service. I love this place and that they have healthy options. If you want to cheat a little, their macaroni salad is delicious! For those of you that don't like mayo, skip! But if you do, it's divine! They have a kid's menu as well. Their kids option comes with a little cute lunch bag, an apple sauce and a small juice. The little lunch bags are not super sturdy especially from the handles. We've been craving Hawaiian BBQ, so did some research on yelp, found numerous choices but picked this place based on they offered a family deal, it was slightly cheaper and it was the closes to where I was at. Restaurant was located on the east end of the Eastland shopping center, up against Barranca Street. Place was clean, staffers were nice and helpful. Wait time was approximately 10 minutes. The family deal is suppose to feed a family of 4, but with an additional side of rice, you could easily feed 5. The meal includes 3 proteins of your choice, 4 scoops of rice and macaroni salad and misc. stir fried veggies underneath your chosen protein. To make a long story short, we were pleasantly surprised, good flavor, not overly salty, decent amount of meat, all priced at about $43. I had taken a bbq beef mini meal to go on Thursday 10/17. Following finishing this meal I bloated up and my stomach swelled up. It looked like I had a basketball underneath my shirt. The whole time I was there (30 -40 mins) the place had 3 customers and a 5 crew team of Ono's workers. The Ono's crew didn't bother to clean. The exterior looks as if it were never cleaned. Wrong Order I ordered the teriyaki Mahi-mahi and they gave me the lemon pepper. I was pretty disappointed since the lemon pepper was very dry. You can see on my receipt I did order teriyaki. Today marked another instance of receiving an incorrect order. To add to the frustration, I was implied to be dishonest about the incorrect order when I called to complain and ask for a refund. I had to drive an extra 10 miles just to prove that I hadn't already started eating the food, in order to get my refund. Such a disgraceful experience. The food remained untouched during this ordeal.
