We had our whole house packed and moved to a new house recently. We ended up paying over $3k more than the high end of our estimate, after having an on-site estimate. That's a really big difference especially given that the estimate was in person. The total cost of our move was $6k more than the low-end estimate (even though the estimate was off the weekend rate, and we ended up moving on a Tuesday). And for that price, I'd expect no mistakes, but there was significant damage to our dining table (which I told the movers was very expensive and fragile), damage to a drawer set, and we had broken vases and picture frames. Additionally, the movers charged almost $300 for the carpet plastic wrap and damaged the railing on our brand new staircase. I gave an additional star only because after I reported the above, they refunded me $800 and sent a furniture repair person to try to fix the table and drawers. I feel slightly lied to. Their marketing team over the phone is great to talk but not transparent. I had requested a service for moving my 1b1b furniture and boxes from a public storage to my house which was around 12 min. I was told 2 things as part of the service which I didn't receive: - there was no 'Tip Required' message on Yelp but at the end the movers asked me for tips. - There was a 3% discount for cash. But I never received it Additionally, hourly rate in the Yelp message is not the actual one Also the service was slow compared to my earlier one from a different moving company for the same amount of stuff from my earlier apartment (1 block away from this one) to public storage (similar driving time). We worked with OnTrack on an especially complex move from our 3 bedroom home in SF. We had a subset of our belongings, including some fragile fine art, going long distance to Colorado, and the remainder of all our furniture, including a piano and other fragile pieces, needing to be stored for up to a year before delivering to a second home in Santa Barbara. OnTrack was exceptional to work with at every step of the way, from working with Luke over the phone to plan all the details, including packing and insurance nuances, to Alex for the onsite visit to get an accurate quote, to the two main crews that packed and loaded for our separate destinations and ultimately delivered for us in Colorado. Both crews were led by foreman Ika, who was exceptional in his communication, leadership, and care for our valuables. He packed us with Martin, Sammy, Santos, José Bravo, and Carlos, all of whom were friendly and exercised great care. Ika then made sure our Santa Barbara goods were safely stored, provided me a video of everything in the OnTrack warehouse, and then partnered with Gustavo to immediately drive the other belonging, which were parked in the first truck at OnTrack's secure facility, to Colorado where they unloaded separately at both our home and my wife's office on the second floor of a commercial building. Ika and Gustavo made sure everything was undamaged and partnered with us to get things to the right room/location to simplify unpacking. They even removed all the packing materials for everything we were able to unbox while they unloaded. OnTrack does not share trucks with multiple clients like most moving companies, and as such they were able to arrive in Colorado and meet us at the same time we arrived with no risk to our belongings. They lock the truck with a secure lock with serial number when leaving the house and it can't be opened other than with bolt cutters to prove there was no access to the truck or tampering. As a result, they're on the expensive side for sure, but if you're looking for convenience in timing, security, protection of your belongings, and overall peace of mind, their approach is a winner. Great team of great people who took great care of us and our belongings. We're looking forward to the same great service a year from now when our other belongings come seamlessly out of OnTrack storage and are delivered to our second home in Santa Barbara. We had inquired about a move with about 2 weeks notice and Ontrack was immediately responsive and ready to schedule a walk through. Within 2 days we had a walkthrough and estimate completed for our travel. Carmina really made the process simple and was always ready to answer questions or help. Ontrack routinely checked with with me leading up to moving day. They explained how the move would go and what to expect on day of. On the day of the move, a 6 man crew showed up on the earlier side of their arrival window (which was very nice) and immediately began boxing all our items and loading them up. The entire crew Jonathan, Victor, Martin, Celso Samuel, and Edgar worked incredibly fast but made sure all our items were wrapped and packed appropriately. Within 2-3 hours, our entire apartment was loaded and ready to head to our new home. Upon arrival, 3 of the original 6 man crew unloaded all our belongings and set up all of the larger items (dressers, beds, desks). It took maybe another 2 hours to unload and do a final inventory. After that, Jonathan and his crew were finished. It felt like a whirlwind but everything went super smooth and we were very appreciative. Our only gripe was the recycled boxes. Don't get me wrong, we are very pro-environment. But when your clean clothes arrive in a box previously labeled "garage tools" it can leave you feeling a little less than enthused. I'm so sorry to have waited so long to weigh in, because in each instance it was an unbelievably seamless process. In each case, the foreman was Hugo (his team last time included Martin and Francisco). They were kind, courteous, professional, careful, and extremely reasonably priced. Quite honestly, with all the moving horror stories I hear, I think it's really rare to encounter such great service. They did everything right. They wrapped and packaged carefully (including the stuff I hadn't quite finished myself); they were extremely efficient and focussed; they moved things into the house and garage exactly as requested. 1000 Stars! Hired Ontrack last minute after the movers I had scheduled failed to provide proof of insurance required by my building. Ontrack fit me in last minute (less than 1 week notice) and dispatch was very professional, well versed in SF condo building insurance requirements, and extremely responsive with the documentation my building required. Scheduled an 8am-10am arrival window, movers arrived just after 8am ready to go. Wrapped all of our furniture with care, called out specific materials (like my marble tabletop and lamps) that would be extremely fragile - wrapping and labelling as such - they clearly knew what to be extra careful with though they were careful with everything. Arrived at new building, unloaded ~10% of our belongings and then we realize the ELEVATOR HAS STOPPED WORKING (no fault of the movers - a freak occurrence due to a recurring faulty part, we learned afterwards). This was a 7th floor move-in. No idea if and when elevator repairperson will come (it's a Saturday afternoon) and what the timetable looks like for repair. Mildly freaking out, I call dispatch at Ontrack (Sam) 5 minutes before their office closes for the day. He stays 30 min overtime on a Saturday and finds 3 extra guys last minute to send over to help us (we had 2 to begin with). He lets me know the group of 5 will start lugging our items up the stairs to FLOOR SEVEN until the elevator is fixed OR until all of our belongings have made it up to our condo. Though they also gave me the option of storing our belongings overnight in the truck, Ontrack was willing to do everything possible to get the job done that day. The movers were extremely professional, started trekking dressers, sectional pieces, boxes up the stairs with no complaints despite the fact that no one signed up for a 7th floor stairs-only move-in. Above and beyond service and care from dispatch and the movers themselves. I used Ontrack for a long distance move from San Mateo to Los Angeles, 1 bedroom's worth of furniture and items. In the past I've had new employers pay for my relocation, but this is the first time I did it myself--and also the first time I had as much stuff as I did. I paid for the exclusive option, which meant that a large crew would pack up all my stuff into a truck, and 2 of those crew would drive the truck down and deliver the very next morning. I had called around to other companies and not many other moving services were offering an exclusive option (given how many people are moving from the Bay Area these days), and it was something I wanted to pay for. From beginning to end the experience was super professional and easy. Several times the customer service rep (Sam) and estimator (Alex) could tell I wasn't used to using an option like this and reassured me that I could just chill out and let them do everything for me--and that frankly they would do a better job. Although I prepacked some stuff that I wanted to pack in a specific way or to bring down in my car for the drive, Sam and Alex were absolutely right: I didn't have to lift a finger on packing or move-in day, but was around to answer questions when the crew had them. The crew worked fast but carefully. Having now unpacked all my stuff, I can confirm not a single thing was damaged or missing. I appreciate these guys for being not only good at their jobs but for also allaying my concerns about using a packing and moving service at all. And every single person was nice and responsive. OnTrack Moving did an excellent job with my "White Glove" project, which involved packing for storage a very large glass & marble & walnut cabinet that had to be carefully broken down into 3+ pieces & moved down a flight of stairs into my garage. Then picking up a new buffet cabinet from a shop a mile away & moving that up the stairs into my living room. Jonatan & Juan arrived on time & were extremely thorough & professional & very good at taking our direction regarding how the cabinet broke down into pieces (it's an antique & very complicated). The only issue that arose was that they had not brought with them enough bubble wrap for the glass (even though I had sent a photo of the piece when I booked the job) so we had to run out & get that while they were dealing with other aspects of the move. Since we live close to a hardware store it wasn't a big deal but be sure to confirm with person who books the job how much bubble wrap you think you will need. I chose OnTrack as the other company I received a quote from was insisting on a 3-man crew which I felt was overkill (& in retrospect it definitely would have been), so OnTrack 's quote was much cheaper.
