Wow.... we used to love coming here but not sure what happened. The entire place was ABSOLUTELY disgusting. The floor were nasty, the whole bar was dirty and they had open containers all over the place. We had to cancel our order before it even came out because we were not going to eat somewhere that dirty. Will never come back. read more

Food was amazing! We came here late night on Saturday and although it was pretty dead (9pm) we were blown away by food and awesome service. Ambiance is cool! Lighting and tables were great. The chefs here are special. Sushi/sashimi was freshhhhhh.. melt in your mouth. Even miso and ginger salad were awesome. My hubby ordered the tonkatsu ramen and loved it. This is a place you'd think would be mediocre but be prepared to be blown away. With all that said, my mojito cocktail was not my fave (too sweet) Lots of sake choices! read more

Another new restaurant! Lately we have been enjoying all the new restaurant openings around Jax, but especially in the Durbin area of St. Johns. Lots of new businesses and homes are being added here, and we discovered Oola Mala this week. The decor of the restaurant is sophisticated and clean, and the staff are on their game. Service was quick and attentive. We tried a few dishes - probably more than we needed - but wanted to get a feel for the place. Starters were spicy crab stick salad, avocado salad, and fried gyoza. The crab stick salad was excellent, and you can tell from the presentation that someone here has been to culinary school. Avocado salad was just sliced avocado with sesame seed garnish on a bed of lettuce - but no dressing. Kind of weird. The fried gyoza were fine, pretty typical of local asian restaurants. For mains we had Tonkotsu Ramen and the Lobster King sushi roll. The ramen was very good, especially the broth with a nice balance of flavors. Instead of the usual pork belly, this dish had thinly sliced pork - an improvement over the typical Tonkotsu around here IMO. But the Lobster King roll was amazing. The sushi chefs here know what they are doing and the menu shows very unusual and creative varieties. Fried Lobster in the middle, with avocado, imitation crab, and asparagus topped with a fried shrimp ball, eel sauce, sweet chili sauce, and green onion. It sounds like a lot but was an excellent combination of flavors in a beautiful presentation. We'll be back to try the hotpot and more sushi! read more

After going to Oola Mala, I will say it was a pleasant experience. My wife had been with her sister a couple of days earlier and spoke so many good things about it, I had to try it out. The food was great and the service was even better. Antonio was my server and he was able to explain anything on the menu that I asked about. read more

Food, Service and drinks were all phenomenal. Our server Antonio was great answered all our questions. We had calamari and crispy tart. For the main course we ordered the lobster king roll, sea food hot pot, chicken tempura roll, lavender haze drink, blueberry Japanese soda and Galaxy cocktail. Hands down, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Antonio, a charismatic moron, not only neglected us entirely to sit at the bar when we were the only customers in the place but also messed up our order. Antiono caused us to wait an extra hour for our food and proceeded to double-charge me. Never have I seen someone so bad at their job. This is a brand new hot pot restaurant in St., Johns County and it is fabulous. This place is absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic. I have tried a lot of different sushi restaurants in the Jacksonville/ Saint Augustine area and this place hands down was the best I've had out of my 5 years of living in the area. Wow just wow. I had the yaki udon which is a thick noodle with vegetables and chicken, to die for. I also had G6, sushi Deluxe. The fish just melted in your mouth so fresh and tasty. I 100% recommend great service as well. I'm not one to yelp but this place needs all the recognition it can get, great job! read more

Not much of a crowd when we went in, which was a shame since it was all fantastic! We ordered some apps (kebabs and spring rolls), drinks, and a variety of mains (sushi, fried rice, and ramen) and every single item was delicious. Also the service was outstanding. Our server, Kobe, was a gem and made some solid food recommendations. It had a nice layout with good privacy for all of the tables and fun decorations and lighting with some cute games to keep the kiddos busy.
