Grabbing a bite to eat before I leave Nashville. Restaurant looks to be half full. I notice 1 manager and 1 server. Three tables that still need bussed. Six top walks in, they're waiting at the host stand, where the sign states clearly, "Please wait to be seated." Server and manager are in the kitchen. After (no kidding here) two minutes, six top decides to seat themselves. And not just any old table will do either! Nope! They all sit at one of the dirty tables. Yeah. Manager comes out running food. Table stops him, while he has a tray of food, to ask if he can clean the table. He asked if they were ready for their check, not knowing they just sat down. After their total confusion he explained that they're currently on a short wait because they are understaffed and was trying to apologize. You can guess how that went! "Look at all these empty tables!" "How hard is it to do your job?!" " I don't understand why you can't just get someone to clean the table!" Etc. As they left, he politely killed them with kindness with the "Thank ya'll, come back again!" Btw, service and food were fantastic! I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and tots with Dolly Parton 's Banana Pudding! Chefs kiss! Take it easy on the service industry folks, we're all doing the BEST we can! Advertising at our hotel said live music - ends up that's only 2-3 days a week and not on the night we were there. We knew right away it wasn't going to be good when we were sat at 6pm (peak dinner time) and we were only 1 of 3 tables occupied. We ordered the appetizer sampler to start, and two meals - the Diamond Rio BBQ trio and the Trace Adkins Just Fishin Fried Catfish. All the food tasted like it came right off the generic equivalent of a Sysco truck. The most redeeming part of the meal was the cheese triangles on the appetizer we ordered. The fried catfish was mostly breading and what little fish that was there was detached from the breading. Aside from the texture and the obvious visible cues there was no discerning between the ribs, the pulled pork, or the brisket. It all tasted the same sadly. Our server took a 20+ minute break during our meal - the host did come by once to check on us and to let us know that our server had, in fact, decided to take a break. No drink refills. She came to take our order. Disappeared. Came back with the check at the end of the meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Where to begin, we talked in and there was no one there... when we were seated right away since no one was there....we ordered our sweet teas... we got 1 drink a piece until the last few bites of our food were almost finished leaving me parched and frustrated to see our server just standing around instead of asking if we needed anything and also visualizing our empty drinks. My girlfriend got the steak and shrimp and said it was eatable... mashed potatoes for both of us was terrible and had zero seasoning or flavor. My pulled brisket tasted like shoe leather however I've not had shoe leather before but that is what comes to mind when I think of it and how it would taste. My waiter suggested the fried green tomatoes so I ordered the appetizer sampler that also has deviled eggs, ham and pimento cheese and crackers, and it was a delight. The burger I had was cooked to perfection and the claw slaw was creamy and flavorful. Don't skimp on dessert, try the banana pudding. I was stuffed and had mine to go, and it was a welcomed tasty midnight treat. If you stay here at the Inn at Gaylord, or in the area, stop in for a bite, this place is not to be overlooked. Very convenient if you are staying at the hotel. We were hungry after arriving in to Nashville and were happy this place was open. We were able to call from our room and order food for takeout. It's literally downstairs, so again, very convenient. We ordered kids chicken fingers with fruit cup, and it was very good. Fruit cup was real fresh fruit, not a del Monte/full of sugar. Moonshine lemon drop on the menu, no one knew how to make, Manhattan did not come out well and had ice cream cherries, gin and tonic had home made tonic. Food was mediocre and bbq overdone, chops were wafer thin. Spinach salad was decent. Maybe a bad night with a large group coming in off a tour bus and limited servers. Disclaimer: I'm no barbecue connoisseur. I haven't eaten enough of it in my West Coast, kale loving, quinoa influenced life. So take this review for what you will. Yes, this place is within a hotel, so I was suspect on how good it would be. I really enjoyed my dish though. I got the Diamond Rio's BBQ Trio. Usually it's for 2 people, yet if you're a Marriot's Reward member, they'll half it and make it a solo portion. So, I paid $16 for 1/4 pound Low and Slow Pork Shoulder, 1/4 rack Tennessee Wet Ribs, 1/4 pound Tennessee-Style Beef Brisket, and one side. Of the meats, I liked the ribs and brisket the best. The pork shoulder was a bit flavorless, but no worries, that's why there's the BBQ sauces. I got the three different BBQ sauces on the side, so I could distinguish between them. I like sauces that have a bit of tang. For the side dishes, I got the green beans cooked in bacon. For any side dishes, it's an extra $3. The highlight of the meal was the service. Very friendly and helpful. Really appreciate it. So, I imagine this isn't a high, in-demand restaurant. Yet, for traveling to the area and being in a hotel, It was pretty good. So for that, I say I appreciate you and give you four Yelp stars. read more

We turned in "early" for the night & decided to order room service. Since we were staying at the Inn - we could order from here, pay a fee & have it brought upstairs to the room. The prices seemed kinda normal/decent.. we weren't worried about. We ordered about an hour before closing. The lady on the phone was friendly and took our order with ease. Our food came upstairs maybe 15mins later. The beverages were missing and we were given water instead. Our special requests were ignored. There wasn't any mayo on the green tomato BLTs. Everything was thrown together - quickly. We had to request the beverages and the attendant went to grab them for us. In the end, the food was fairly pricey for what we got. But we expected a little better quality & quantity really. The stew seemed to be the best. The whole process was rushed and very much a hassle. read more

After visiting Downtown Nashville I thought I was going to eat lunch somewhere there. But the restaurants were all quite loud with very loud music and my kids don't like such loud music. So I new I wanted to check out the Backstage grill as they have kids menus here. First it is quite nice inside and well decorated it's really like you are backstage. I haven't been to the Opry but was glad to visit here. They feature some great videos of recorded artists on the screen and probably have live music too but not at lunch which actually worked out well for me. The food is a great array of southern cuisine. I went for a brisket sandwich and added the pimento cheese spread. The pimento cheese spread on the sandwich was a great and unique addition. The brisket was excellent with nice sized pieces. The BBQ sauce complimented the sandwich and was quite good as well. You can get fries or chips with sandwiches and I opted for the house made chips. Service was very friendly and efficient. I saw home made pecan pie for desssert on the menu and decided to get a piece. It was fantastic. The food here is great and that is unusual for the restaurant in a hotel but worth visiting. read more

Decided to go ahead and order some food to go. Wanted something relatively quick and easy to make so I ordered Baby Kale and Spinach Salad w/ salmon. Well I was super excited for the salad because it was 25$ (must be amazing right?). Sadness ensued when I open it up and see that there is no salmon in my Baby Kale and Spinach Salad w/ salmon. Guess I'll just have to use my imagination. Edit: guess it's just best not to order at the end of the night. I also ordered strawberry shortcake and it literally came shoved in a soup container filled with whipped cream and nearly no cake. 5-18-23 Came here for lunch on a Thursday. I honestly wasn't expecting much based on some of the Yelp reviews. Luckily for us, we had an amazing server named Shahd. She was very sweet and was probably the nicest and best server I ever had. She alone made our visit to this restaurant totally happy and would return for sure. She even got on stage and sang a couple songs and gave us a shout out. Made us feel welcome and special. She's definitely a gem! The fried green tomatoes were really good. 12/19/18 - Went to the Opry Backstage Grill for live music and had some pretty darn good food. My wife had the tomato basil soup that was thick and flavorful. Way above the average (I swear others just open a Campbell's can) that many restaurants serve. Daughter had the mac/cheese bacon burger. Cheese was oozing off of it. She said it was really good. I had the fried bologna and 'Alan Jackson' Pimiento cheese sandwich. The bologna was cut at least 1/2 inch thick and was perfectly caramelized on both side. The combination of lightly salty bologna, just a bit sweet and tangy cheese, and sweet acid from the pickles made the perfect sandwich. If you have not tried one of these you have been missing out and need to put it on your 'next time' list. We got to listen to multiple songs played by Brassfield. They are a trio who did covers and some original songs that we enjoyed. To me the real treat was Mark Irwin. He has been on the music scene for about 30 years and songwriter who has written several #1 country songs and been nominated for the CMA song of the year. He has written for Tyler Farr (Redneck Crazy), Alan Jackson (Here in the Real World), and Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift (Highway Don't Care), etc. He played several of his songs for us. It was really amazing to get hear the songs exactly the way the writer wrote them. You never know who you might run into and possibly hear playing at the Opry Backstage Grill. They also have a cool collect of country music memorabilia. read more

If your staying at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and looking for somewhere nearby to eat that wont cost you an arm and a leg your search is over because this is the place to go! I must add .... also a great place to go wherever your staying in Nashville! The location of this place is right across the street from the Gaylord Opryland and is at the sister hotel os the resort, its called the Inn at the Gaylord. Shuttles are available to take you there if your staying at the resort. Great friendly service, great food, great drinks and great prices! Came here about two months ago with my boyfriend from New Jersey while staying in Nashville and absolutely loved it! We first ordered two Tennessee ice teas to drink before the Jet Titan game . Pretty much, it's a Long Island with moonshine in it. Fantastic! Perfect to drink before heading to a game because this sure will get you pretty buzzed! You won't be disappointed! Our waiter made the drinks himself, when we told him this was our first time in Nashville and never tried moonshine before, he made us the Tennessee teas and then poured the moonshine in last on top without mixing it so we can taste the moonshine without having it already mixed into the drink. Super nice of him. During the course of our meal he came and checked in on us and also gave us great advice about the best places to go during our stay in Nashville. We then had the BBQ Nachos, and I must say, my nacho eating experience will never be the same after this place! This is the true definition of foodgasim! It's nachos with beans, sour cream, peppers, cheese, and pulled pork full of the most delicious bbq I have ever had! The pulled pork here is soooooo tender and perfectly cooked. We got this like three times during our stay here, yea it was that good. Since we loved the nachos we also ordered the pulled pork sandwiches which were also just as good. The place was very clean and the ambiance was very country but like classy country. Beautiful decor. It's also a very space restaurant which is great for large groups as well. It had both tables, booths and a bar to sit drink and eat at as well. This will not be the last time I come here! I will be back and highly suggest others to go here as well! read more
