The bakery is really good. Beautiful pastries, cakes and coffee drinks. If you want a more breakfast the egg dishes, bagels and fruit cups are fresh and delicious. I had a turkey and cheese croissant today. The filling was a good portion of turkey and melted Swiss cheese in a buttery flaky croissant. I also got a double oat milk latte which went perfectly with the croissant. I'm heading to Seattle today so I bought some 7layer coconut bars and a snickers cookie to take home to my hubby. Nom! All the produce is from Local Farms, the chicken is organic and so is all the red meat, the fish is wild caught and sustainable...more likely than not you will know where your food has come from This review is NOT for Cafe 300 which is beyond fabulous and even after working here over 5 years, it doesn't get old...this review is for the Chef's Counter that their director (Chef Hilt ) started this year...it gives Oracle Employees (and non-Oracle Employees as their guests) the chance to savor a wonderful 5-course meal at fraction of the cost out side. I have posted pictures of our Chef's Table Meal which I attended with 2 guests (my husband and son). Every course was a delight to the senses, beautifully plated, meticulously explained...you got the Chef's love and passion for their food (Chef Hilt...smile some more for the pictures :) ) We had a smoked salmon salad which was brilliantly executed, the chervil used was interesting a herb that tasted like a blend of parsley and tarragon...this was followed by a fettucini with english peas and a mint gremolata...simple yet flawlessly executed. The third course was a halibut with artichoke shavings and a hedgehog mushroom ( definitely another first for me...the hedgehog mushroom!). The fourth course was beef however we don't eat beef so they swapped it out with a grilled piece of chicken for us. The last course was a rhubarb galette with a delicate vanilla chantilly cream...we toddled out of the place stuffed to our gills...in love with the meal. The meal is about $20 for Employees and $25 for guests - definitely worth the experience. Always will hit the spot and everyone is really friendly there. Be advised though, people will take your order # if you are not paying attention! I really enjoy this cafe because of the lovely setting (the beautiful water in front of Oracle), the spaciousness of the dining area, the affordability and quality of the food for being a work cafeteria! I do not work at Oracle but my husband did in the past, so I was pleasantly surprised that it's open to the public. The breakfast is pretty good- your hearty breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos, pre packed parfaits, and a great Starbucks coffee bar with an impressive pastry selection. The bfast sandwiches and burritos are just ok - not particularly flavorful but definitely generously portioned, fresh, and there's good salsa you can add to it! The pastries though are honestly next level- what you'd expect in a French bakery. Super flaky croissants, fruit tarts, delicious fresh baked cookies etc. there's also fresh squeezed orange juice and all your standard Starbucks drinks! ORACLE 300 BAKERY has the best desserts out of all the cafeterias here! Not even sure if the other cafeterias has such an extensive selection of sweets! Come here for crepes, cookies, pastries, cakes, and coffee! Perfect if you want to take a break and walk around the lake and end up here (which is what I end up doing when I want to take a walk). Most of their desserts are superb and pretty cheap because it is subsidized.. but I want to talk about the chocolate chip cookie! I'm sure most other people talked about it here, but it's soooo friggin good. the choclate chips aren't the tiny little ones, they're HUGE and kinda soft and melty. It's perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! It's the perfect cookie. I've eaten at least like 15 of those since I've started coming here 4 months ago. It's also great because you do not need to work at Oracle to come in and try the sweets at the 300 bakery! Parking might be a hassle but there's plenty of parking in the lots. Based on their pastries. I have a thing for chocolate croissants. And I found on yelp that Oracle has good chocolate croissants. It is kind of a challenge to actually get them. They only serve them at breakfast I found this out the hard way. Breakfast opens 7am-10am. They sell out fast too at $2.25 each. Parking is also another factor if you don't work at Oracle like myself. I just live nearby. Heh heh. One day I came by during lunch hour and had a macaron. They charge $1 each and serve only one flavor at a time. The day I went they had lemon. Yuck! But I felt the texture was good. Just wished that had more than one flavor to choose from. Conclusion: I'm going to just have to wake up early and get my fix, it is cheaper than other local pastry shops. read more

I believe Bon Appetit is the company that prepares all the food. The food is of great quality - often organic and locally sourced ingredients. The staff is friendly and prices are subsidized so you can always get a good deal for lunch. The bakery is 5 stars worth just on its own. Not only do they have cookies, pastries, tarts, but they make their own bread, challah on Friday, special designed cakes (I hear you can even order a wedding cake!), they also make chocolates on occassion. I tried their creme brulee tart and it knocked my socks off, not literally, but, "Wow! It was really good." The cream brulee was carmalized but not too sweet, but what made it stand out was the crust that was buttery and complimented the topping well. On most Tuesdays, there is a Farmer Market's stand that brings its own loot of fresh veggies to choose from. I've never had a meal here that I didn't like. Keep up the good job! read more

Breakfast here is fast and cheap. Their pastry counter always has the standard plain croissant and chocolate filled croissant, both of which are nice and flakey. Sometimes they even have ham and cheese croissant, which I've never eaten but only b/c I don't eat ham. Occasionally they'll have a quiche. They also have gluten free Brazilian cheese puffs which are really good. So good, in fact, that there are never any at lunch time! They have muffins. They used to be really good basic muffins. You know the standard comforting muffins you look forward to in the morning when you need things easy. Recently though, they've changed. Now they're complex - and not in a good way. Now their flavors are things like blueberry with almond strudel topping, bran with some kind of weird topping, and chocolate raspberry. I had one friend talk about getting the choc raspberry for months and was very disappointed when she finally did. Very rarely they have a delicious lemon poppy seed with no toppings. I like their regular coffee, but not a huge fan of their lattes. A lot of people I know get their espressos regularly. The also have a breakfast omelet & crepe bar, oatmeal and Greek yogurt and honey or fruit and granola. The fruit is fresh unlike the kind you get at Starbucks (gross!). In fact, their fruit is locally sourced, so you won't find blueberries or strawberries out of season. I frequently get scrambled eggs here. The prices are rock bottom! I think last time I paid less than $3. Their bagels are nothing to write home about, but they do have a nice selection of whole fresh fruit - you just have to look over by the oatmeal. read more

I also keep learning that there are various specials - on Fridays you can pick up a few different types of bread. The prices are also great, even for non-Oracle employees. I went here for lunch today. It was my first time here so at first I walked around in exploratory mode and was blown away by the variety of food they have here. There is a deli station (sandwiches/salads), cafe station (coffee/bakery), grill station (meats and fish), and pasta/pizza station. The grill station was my favorite, they had a refrigerated glass counter where you can see the uncooked NY strip steaks, pork chops, and marinated chicken. The NY strip steak looked very fresh and had a nice red color to it. As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to have it. At first I thought it would be at least $10 for the steak and sides possibly extra. Boy was I happy when I found out the price, I ordered the NY strip steak meal and it turned out to be great deal ($7.75). The meal consisted of a choice of vegetable or starch of the day. I chose the vegetables and it turned out to be broccoli with cumin and caramelized onions. The meal also included roasted mini red potatoes and a fresh breadstick. The steak was nicely grilled and very juicy and flavorful. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie ($1.10). The cookie was bigger then specialty's and cheaper, but tastewise specialty takes it. The cookie was cakey towards the middle and crispy on the exterior edge with nice gooey semi-melted chunks of chocolate. There are also two fountain style water stations next to each other. There are no handles or knobs so took me a little while to figure out how to get water. I finally noticed there is a motion sensor under the basin so I stepped forward and placed my glass under the spout, and voila, water. The best part about this place is the prices and that everything is organic and locally produced. If you were to buy organic NY strip steak from the market, it would easily cost more then $10 and you still have to buy the side dishes and grill everything! This place has great food and great prices, I'm surprised I didn't come here sooner. It's also open to the public and there is free parking in the garages off Oracle Parkway. read more

This place is bad ass. I came here with a coworker the other day. It may not look like much off Marine Parkway, but the Oracle campus is beautiful once you're actually walking through it. As for the restaurant itself, this is one of 4 cafeterias open to the public. And while I can't attest to the others, this one is friggin awesome. While the inside was rather cramped and crowded, there was a fine assortment of meats and dishes, a lot of them cooked right in front of you. Picture the hot food section at Whole Foods, minus the self serve bar, and you'll get a feeling for the aromas and the quality of the food. Counters with butcher fresh New York steak and wild salmon waiting to be grilled, roasted duck, simpler fare like pizza, and even desert. Awesome. The best part--most of the dishes are $7 and under. I had been craving a gyro for a while, and Oracle delivered. A gyro with fries cost me $5.25, not only did it taste fantastic, I couldn't even finish the damn thing, there was so much food. Sure it's a little bit out of the way. But for the price, and especially if you work in the Redwood Shores area, this is one cafeteria that can't be beat. read more

I actually work in the 300 building. I think the food is great and eat here almost every day. This restaurant is one of many provided by Oracle. Oracle heavily subsidizes the cost of the food, so anything you get there will be pretty cheap. I think the portion sizes are decent, I usually end up with leftovers. The restaurant has several stations, providing you choices for the type of food you'd like to eat. Briefly, they are: *Grill - Steak, fish, chicken, pork, etc. are standard dishes. There is a special every day, which gives variation. *Pasta - Serves standard penne pasta with your choice of one of three sauces, such as marinara. The also have specials, such as types of lasagna. I believe each pasta dish comes with a free side of garlic bread, which is pretty tasty. *Sandwich/Salad - I haven't had as much experience with this station, I usually hit up the grill. It appears they can make salads for you, allowing customization. I think there are also sandwiches available, and there's typically a soup of the day. *Bakery - This is one of the highlights if you like deserts. They have a very wide selection, and many of the choices are very tasty. For example, I've seen anything from fruit tarts to chocolate decadence cakes to truffles. These are beautiful to look at, and you'll see them on your way in. *Pizza - Standard pizza, it's pretty decent. They serve margherita and pepperoni. They also have specials, usually some type of calzone. These are fresh made pizzas, by the way, and I believe they are cooked in a brick oven. *Water - There's a jazzy water dispenser across from the pizza station. It's free and fun, though sometimes the sensor is a bit temperamental turning on the fountain-- I recommend standing really close to it so it can detect you. Overall, a very satisfying place to eat at very affordable prices. Parking is free in the garage nearby. Speaking of which, given it's my lunch hour and I haven't eaten, I think I'll go downstairs to eat there now. =) read more

I love this place. So many inexpensive options with great quality ingredients. One of my favorites is the caramelized onion, Gorgonzola and walnut crepe for less than $6. Also you can get a sampling of 5 different types of vegetable sides with a slice of focaccia if you want to go healthy. There is also yummy pasta and pizza. OMG!!! This is NOT ONLY my favorite Oracle Cafe... this is just about the best company cafeteria food EVER!!! The best part is that this place comes off like a classy European Cafe rather than...well...a cafeteria! I LOVE their pasta bar, antipasto choice, pizza, crepes, grill, full espresso bar and ESPECIALLY DESSERTS!!! OMG!!! TONS of desserts for all you sweet tooth types!!! They have a professional baker on site and if you need a cake for a special occasion, you can set an appointment to meet with the baker to design the cake! And yes, they do NOT check for badges to go into the Cafe!!! My coworkers and I go there regularly (well, when I'm not stuck at the office eating leftovers at my desk... I had been going to this crappy place called Steve's Deli next to my building. Cuz Steve is a punk, I've been on a 2 year boycott (unless my company is flipping the bill of course!) Anywayz, Oracle was my saviour to Steves. For the same cost of a sandwich at Steve's, I can get me a full meal with greens, protein, and carbs. Seriously though, Oracle has a fantastic cafeteria. They're run by Bon Appetite which uses only local, organic ingredients. I think the food is heavily subsidized by Oracle, which is why I can have me a NY Steak for $7.63. Their salads are great too, except the guy tossing it is always so quick that I can never tell him I want just a touch of dressing since he always over does it. 300 Cafe is a mediterranean style market and the atmosphere is so awesome and diverse. I love that there are varieties here. You can eat here all week long with their weekly menu and daily specials without repeating. Italian, Mid East, fresh grill, sandwiches, salads, pastries... they are all fresh and organic. You can get a steak or seafood meal for about $8. You can't beat that... You can order wedding cakes from their full service in house bakery too... I've seen their samples and they do do a great job.
