It was our first time here, and I may have to give them the benefit of the doubt because they were hosting a wedding that day, and it was a Friday night. However, after arriving on-time for our scheduled dinner reservation at 6pm, we waited 30-minutes to be seated. I ordered the New York Steak and my GF ordered the Prime Rib and Scallops. Overall, the service and food did not blow us away. Again, might need to catch them on a day when they aren't hosting a wedding, but regardless, we were disappointed. Cons: 1) Some of the tins used for the salad bar were dirty 2) French Onion soup from soup/salad bar tasted from a can. 3) Ordered steak cooked medium and came out well done. 4) GF's garlic mashed potatoes had large pieces of potato that were still in chunks and/or not cooked all the way through. 5) GF's prime rib was bland and a bit tough. We went to OC Mining Company for my birthday, which was put on the reservation and mentioned to the guy who seated us. When we went to OC Mining Co last year for my birthday, my daughter told the Server quietly, that it was my birthday. She was disappointed when no mention or recognition of it was made. Unfortunately, once again, nothing was said or done for my birthday. But, that is not what is important when reviewing a restaurant. I only mention it so people won't expect a birthday to be recognized at OC Mining Co, or maybe it is just mine! lol Our reservation was for 5:00 and when we arrived at 5:50, we were directed to the Lounge area after checking in. Even though the door was closed to the outside, it was quite chilly in the lounge. We each had a glass of house wine, which was $6 during Happy Hour. Promptly at 5:00, we were seated at a window side table with a beautiful view of the sunset. We placed our dinner orders and went to the Salad/Soup Bar. Everything on the Salad Bar looked fresh and since we were the first people to use it, it was very clean. The Honey Mustard salad dressing is probably the best I have had. It is very creamy and rich tasting. I like that the salad plates are always cold and keeps the salad fresh. At the Soup Bar, I got some of the Coronado Chili, which unfortunately was just tepid warm. I like my soup to be very hot and I have found that it is often just warm on the Soup Bar. The chili had a good taste but since it was barely warm, I didn't eat much of it. For dinner, both my husband and I had the Filet Mignon ($36) and both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and extremely tender. I got the Oscar Topping, which is Bearnaise sauce with asparagus and crab and it was scrumptious!! The cheese bread was also to die for!! Our steaks came with mashed potatoes that were good. I am giving OC Mining Co four stars due to the soup not being hot. I think it is important for food to be served at appropriate temperatures. Otherwise, everything else was great. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Our Server, Randy, was attentive without being intrusive. This is a nice restaurant to visit for a special or romantic dinner. read more

We were there to celebrate a few April birthdays. The service was very good. The food was good. We had the prime rib. Yum! The staff was friendly. It is sad to see so many bad reviews. Watching the customers that were there, it looked like they were all having a good time. Yes, the restaurants can do a few improvements. Overall, it is good place to go grab dinner at. Especially at sunset. As mentioned before, handicap parking is at a lower level. We got there 10 mins before they opened. They did not have valet parking. Looking around it is a small parking lot. The service was so nice! Our server helped us so much and was all was always checking on us. The food was delicious! I got the artichoke which was great and the salad/soup bar was just magnificent! My experience here was ehhh.... The food is really bad imo . Had mark as a waiter and it's because of him that I'm leaving 2 stars and not 1 his service was great super attentive and full of energy . I had the chili and clam chowder for soups they were not good at all. We tried calamari for appetizer and also were just horrible. For entree had the pork chop and burger and had a bite of both and just didn't continue to eat . Came here tonight for dinner. Had the Ceasar salad, filet mignon, and cheesecake. The filet mignon was cooked to my liking but was so small. The vegetables were the best part of the meal and I don't care much for mashed potatoes or ceasar salad. The cheesecake was okay. A very disappointing meal from the last time I was here. Also sad to see that the salad bar isn't back, I was hoping to have a real salad bar. The service was average. Honestly, the view here isn't good even if you are seated by the window because only thing you can see at night is the parking lot all lit up, the city looks pretty dark. The view was great as always & this party room has their own bathrooms & bar which made things easy. We were allowed to do our own floral arrangements & brought in our own desserts which was nice! My friends and I came in here for brunch on a Sunday morning. It's a very popular place so be sure to make reservations. Included in the price is bottomless mimosas, which we took full advantage of. The brunch itself is only worth three stars but the restaurant decor more than makes up for it. They have so many intricate details here that you could easily spend an hour just looking around and taking in the sweeping views over orange county. The food is your standard brunch fare. They will make you eggs benedict and biscuits and gravy upon request. They have an omelette and a pasta station. The best part was the waffles. They were just really good. The rest of the food wasn't anything memorable. The dessert station was OK. They had a variety of choices but nothing that really stood out. The service was great. Prior to the pandemic we enjoyed dining here occasionally. The view is fantastic and the soup and salad bar was absolutely great. The post pandemic version is a little different. Of course the views are the same but the soup and salad bar suffered a casualty. Now you choose one or the other and it's brought to the table. Swordfish was the catch of the day, now it's mahi mahi. While I understand the changes, we will be a little more hesitant to visit more frequently. Still the views are killer. read more

My wife and I have been dining here since 1979 and this was a poor experience and I just had to warn people. We brought our grandson here for his birthday and told him to order the ribeye as it was excellent. Well, both steaks arrived very cold. The seasoned butter wouldn't even melt at all. They were also rather tough. I should have sent them back as soon as I took the first bite. Additionally, we hardly ever saw our server. The only thing I can think that caused this anomaly is there was a banquet being held and it was probably too much for the staff to handle. In any event we will not be going back. read more

At first the valet was wonky but they got it together and they were quite funny too. The air felt like I was back in 6th grade camp LOL. The walk way is very creaky and not well maintained. They had a big ass kitchen type mat covering the weak spots of the walk way. Please fix that unless you guys want a lawsuit o_O So we were a little early and they had another table available but he was hell bent on a particular table, he even knew the table number lol. So we had to wait longer for that table and he kept bugging the hostess. I told him to relax. Jeez. I didn't know this place closed so damn early especially for a Saturday 9:30 !?!?! WTF. Even Orange hill is open to 11! Maybe that's why my date wanted to get seated immediately. So we get seated . Great views! Even watched the Disney fireworks and that's why he wanted this table. Started off with some cocktails and I must say what a great cocktail menu. I wonder if I can get the carafe cocktails made for a single seasoning we'll be in business. I forgot what I ordered but the drinks are nice and stiff! The menu is pretty straight forward. Only one page of appetizers and entrees to choose from. I tried ordering the prime rib and they had none left. Again if I knew how damn early this place closed I would totally understand why they had none left! So I settled for the rib eye which is my favorite cut anyway and a side of king crab legs. I guess all entrees come with a trip to the soup and salad bar. For what was left of the salad was quite impressive. You can make your own salad and they had a nice variation of pasta salads and some other types of cold salads. I wish I had a chance to enjoy the soups since I enjoyed my salad so much. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail as our appetizer and that was very good. Very fresh seafood! Just a solid dish. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. I'm a medium rare kinda gal and they cooked it as so. The meat was well seasoned and I love the juices mixing in with the garlic mashed potatoes. I will most definitely get the ribeye here again. The king crab legs were also good. Very fresh! I rarely eat king crab legs but when I do, I make love to those things LOL. My date had the shrimp scampi and scallops entrée, with a side of rice pilaf. No kidding his dinner was F'n goooooooood! I was surprised because it didn't look all that special but it tasted special! It was so buttery and the pilaf was addicting. Not overcooked whatsoever! He mixed his leftovers with mine and that made for amazing leftovers the next day :D No complaints at all with this meal. We recently went here on a weeknight. We made reservation to make sure we got a table with a view (highly recommend). I would recommend making reservations approximately 1hr before sunset for best experience. Another benefit is that you get to see the city lights as you leave! Food is decent but there are many similar options at the same price range. The experience and view were the deciding factors on why we choose to come here. We dis use a coupon from the Entertainment Guide (Orange County edition - I believe the Los Angeles edition has a coupon to the Pomona Valley Mining Company) and was given $22 off a second meal. It wasn't enough to cover the entire second meal but a good portion of it. We actually used it to splurge on a pitcher or Sangria! There was plenty of parking as we came on a Monday night. There is valet parking on the weekends but no valet was available that night, probably because it was a weekday. read more

I firt discovered Orange County Mining Co when my friend celebrated her birthday. We came for dinner and I ordered the 1 lb prime rib. While we waited for our meal, my friends and I shared a big pitcher of mojito and enjoyed the bottomless salad/soup/cheese bread. The salad bar is nothing special. The salad is not super fresh but it made do. The soup bar was pretty satisfying as I enjoyed my cream corn soup. And don't get me started on the cheese bread. My friends and I literally ate at least 5 plates of cheese bread. Their cheese bread definitely made the dining experience pleasant! By the time we got our food, all of us were pretty full but we somehow managed to stuff our face with our entrees. I really enjoyed my prime rib, more than lawry's *gasp* My prime rib came moist and juicy and their au ju tasted really good. Their garlic mashed potato has potato skin in it and it was nicely seasoned. I almost killed my 1lb prime rib; probably could have if it wasn't for the cheese bread! I went here for a private party with 60 people from 6pm-11pm. The prime rib was delicious, moist, juicy, and big. It was served with potatoes and veggies. The place was nice and clean. It was like a lodge/mining theme. The service was okay because my friend asked for au jus for the prime rib and the waiter said no but when she asked the bartender he asked the same waiter to give her some...so yeah not that great with customer service there. They have self parking and valet but when we get there self parking was full so no choice but to go with valet. The valet parking staff were very friendly. It was a very fun experience because my friend's party program was awesome! Probably will only go back if it's a private party again. read more

Honestly I have to say. The first time I went there the food was amazing. The second time everything was terrible but my daughter loved their Mac & Cheese. I promised on god I don't know why. I said I would never go there again but she begged me to take her there before our Daddy Daughter Dance so reluctantly I took her. We ordered the ribeye with Mac & Cheese to share and every aspect of the meal was terrible. She even said the Mac & Cheese was really bad, the steak tasted like chemicals and was terrible. I'm not sure what happened or if the have a new cook staff but I strongly recommend you try another restaurant. As a party of 4 went to the OC Mining Co for my birthday. I've lived down the street for a very long time and finally got to go. The ambiance is on point with the mining experience & look. The view of the city and beyond were spectacular! The food was pricey averaging about 45-50 a plate. All dinners include the self serve soup and salad bar and it was a great spread of everything. The plates for the salad bar are pie tins. You get yummy, warm cheese bread brought to your table. I had the ribeye steak and it was cooked just right at medium well plus with no runny pink juice. It had the criss cross burn mark and it was delish. The garlic mashed potatoes were tasty too. Our server was named Diamond, yes that was her real name. She said others in her family were named after jewels too. Anyways Diamond was very courteous and a great server. This place and experience is good for anniversaries and milestone birthdays like mine. Would I go back? Sure would again for a special occasion. Also so glad they have a parking area for disabled guest where its a level surface to walk in.
