This place is really just about the view and decent food. I wanted to go during sunset but it became dark fast. Regardless we were seated outside with heat lamps available, and a great view of the city at night up the hills. Keep in mind it's valet only. I can understand why the restaurant have such low stars. The service is really not superb as it should be, with the given view and higher prices on the menu. We waited a bit even with reservations on a weekday, and the food took about an hour. The waiter was trying to be nice but seem a bit unprofessional with a somewhat rude undertone. I had to ask for utensils, and also for the complimentary cornbread that I saw on Yelp. (It looked good and I wanted to try it! It also didn't disappoint, glad I asked for it!) I didn't dock too many points because of the service since I think overall the restaurant was just understaffed.. the waiter must've been managing over 20 tables walking from one side of the place to the other. And it's a big restaurant! Food was pretty good: Caviar Frites- it was cold (not even warm) when it arrived to our table. I think it was sitting outside for a while before our waiter gave it to us. But good thing it was still crispy and flavorful Squid Ink Bucatini - highly recommend! I took my mom out with me to celebrate my birthday there for her first time, and the service was amazing! Thank you Alyssa for a great experience again! I've been there about 9 times, and that was the serving time Alyssa was taking care of my table, and let me just say I'll always request to have her. She did an amazing job making sure we had everything taken care of, she even offered to cook the steak on the pink brick and it taste amazing! Other times when I cooked it myself didn't taste as well as when she cooked it. I'll definitely be going back and requesting Alyssa if she's available. And the view is amazing! Came here during happy hour and it was met with beautiful views of OC. Parking is valet only and it's $9. Once you enter you go to the left and it's the bar area which is for HH. Large tables and comfy couch seating. Very quiet as well. Full bar. I like the HH menu items especially the spinach artichoke dip which included a lot of pita bread and the portion of the dip was a lot. Very creamy and loaded with artichoke pieces. Next we ordered their brussel sprouts and it was super delicious. The garlic fries were OK as it was somewhat soggy but it there's a lot of freshly ground or chopped ginger so that may be a reason why die fries were soggy. The calamari was OK. I think it Wouk be nice to add some additional items on their HH like flatbread or some type of burger. Out of the 6 HH items we ordered 5 so it's pretty good. We ended the experience with their crab cake. You only get one cake so you have to share but it was quite delicious. Next time we come we will try their oysters. Made a reservation and arrived early. Had to wait 30+ min past the reservation for a table. Service was slow. Food was made wrong. Ultimately, I didn't eat and I was not charged for the steak. My wife didn't like where we were sat and asked to move as soon as we were sat and was told it would be a 30+ min wait for another table. We were told the table right in front of us was in another section and that's why we couldn't sit there. Weird how the same waiter serviced them once someone was sat. So they lied to us. We were really looking forward to our evening at Orange Hill, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing from start to finish. Despite having reservations, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Once at our table, no one approached us for drinks, and after waiting another 30 minutes, I had to ask for a manager just to get drink service. Even after that, everything felt extremely rushed and disorganized. It then took a very long time to place our food order, and by the time we were ready to look at the dinner menu, we were made to feel as though our 90-minute limit was up. Staff repeatedly hovered and looked at us as if we needed to leave, even though it was dinner time and we had barely been served. To make matters worse, when we went to retrieve our car, the valet attendants were honking at us and rushing us, which felt unprofessional and unnecessary. Between the long waits, lack of service, and being made to feel unwelcome, this was not the experience we expected from a restaurant of this reputation. Came here for my birthday, when we came in the host just said we're checked in but didn't tell us where our table was, she just described it and said it was "on the patio near the fire pit" but didn't show us where to go which was weird because usually hosts show you to your table so we just stood there waiting for someone else to take us in. Other than that our waiter was very sweet and great service. Loved the menu had so many great options but our food took a long time we got sat around 8:48 and didn't leave til like 10:30. Unfortunately the crispy snapper felt short of my expectations, it was breaded but very bland, the rice was just as bad :( I really did love the coconut shrimp and the Mac. My girlfriend made reservations for us 2 at 7pm in the patio to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived to check in we were told we can wait in the bar area until we get seated so we ordered 2 drinks from the bar. I ordered an Angel city ipa which honestly was not good and I enjoy a strong ipa (sculpin, space dust are my fav) it left an old, burnt after taste after each sip. Our wait wasn't long but our first encounter with the hostess left us a bit upset. She told us to pay our bar tab and to look for her afterwards, which we found to be quite rude. We paid the tab and she was nowhere to be found after so we told the girl in the front check in area and had another girl seat us. Our server on the other hand was very nice in accommodating us. While we were taking pictures with the sunset another guest bumped into our table and knocked over my drink. She was quick to clean everything up, brought us clean utensils and menus afterwards. Also brought me a replacement beer, I asked for the Pilsner since it was the only other draft option. I would recommend just getting whatever bottled beer you like. Our dinner order started with calamari for our appetizer, I ordered the double smash burger, and my girlfriend got the pasta with shrimp added. The scenery was nice but a bit too chilly for my liking. There were tower heaters turned on in the area but not where we were seated so we decided to move to a table across from us that was empty for quite a while and much warmer since it had a fire pit next to it. To our surprise the rude hostess girl came back to antagonize us by saying we had to move back to our table... which my girlfriend quickly asked why did it matter. Luckily another employee overheard as she walked by and told her "it doesn't matter, they can sit there" The hostess did the walk of shame, didn't apologize after scolding us for moving which left an unpleasant feeling. An hour later after being seated we got our calamari, which was good but not great. 30min or so after the calamari we got our entrees. My girlfriend got her pasta and I got my burger with fries. I was very surprised they did not give ketchup unless you asked. It took another 10-15 min to get the ketchup which by then my burger and fries were cold. Being seated out In the cold patio definitely didn't help. I ended up just taking a few bites out of it and didn't touch it after. Our server brought me a birthday brownie with whipped cream and a candle. It just served best as a photo prop since it honestly didn't taste good, it was pretty dry and didn't taste much like a brownie. All in all this was my first and will be my last visit to this establishment. Hearing so many good things about this place had me setting the standard pretty high for them. Visited Orange Hill on 5/22/2025 to celebrate a birthday. We will not be returning. For the price of the food the whole experience was disappointing. The lobster special was undercooked, the vegetables were way too salty and the drinks were all weak. The inside dining area needs freshened up. Seat cushions peeling, forks on the floor, dirty windows and the carpet looks dirty. For the price, I'd expect more from Orange Hill. Years ago, it used to be a great restaurant. Wow! What a disappointment for my Mother's Day. We went for dinner and it wasn't even that crowded. After ordering, our waiter disappeared and a female came out with half of our food. Here is the best part.... Food was COLD. Every from our steaks, potatoes etc. I read all the negative reviews on here and I truly agree and sympathize with their experiences. You really only pay for the view. Food is not that good and super expensive. I would have rather gone down the street to Morenos. When my husband called to speak with the manager, no one took his call. This is supposed to be a high end restaurant and you can't even reach a manager. I will never go back to this place again. We enjoyed a delicious lunch the day after Christmas and although the weather was stormy we were comfortable and cozy inside. The staff was accommodating and the waiter was helpful with suggestions to meet dietary restrictions. The filet mignons and seared salmons were perfect as were the accompanying sauces. I came across this place just searching for nice restaurants near our hotel. This place is up in the hills and the view is amazing. We were lucky to watch the sunset from our table. I forgot our waiters name but he did a real nice job. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks before our main courses. I ordered the salmon tartare for an appetizer and it was very good and flavorful. The sauce that came with it really added to the dish. I ordered the braised short rib and my friend ordered the broasted half chicken. Her presentation was beautiful and both meals tasted amazing. Every drink my friend ordered came in a fun presentation as well. We had nothing but a positive experience here and if we lived in the area most definitely would keep coming. Orange Hill is perched atop a hill and unlike many restaurants with a view, the food here is actually pretty decent! The portions are impressive for the price and we had excellent service from Anthony as well. Of all the dishes we ordered, the salmon sandwich was the winner. Negating one star because the fried chicken was bone dry (pass the water!) and tough to finish. Also, a bit unrelated but the $9 valet to park your car a few feet away was a poor surprise. All in all, more pluses than minuses and a place I would definitely consider coming back to. read more

Came to celebrate a birthday. The server was kind, the place is so big there were no other tables near us so we didn't see the server often. The views speak for themselves, it creates a great atmosphere and the ambience was nice. The food was great. The steak sandwich was juicy and flavorful, the fish and chips were battered and fried perfectly. The crab and shrimp bisque was amazing! 0 Star if possible 11/21/2025 Long story- was thinking about making it shorter but I feel as if every detail matters. My boyfriend took me out for my birthday and unfortunately this was one of the most frustrating dining experiences we've ever had. We had an 8:00pm reservation and checked in at 8:05pm for a party of two under the name Luis M. We were told to take a seat and that they'd call us shortly. During the first 30 minutes, we heard a couple of groups get called, including two different guests named Luis (Luis L. and Luis S.). They had arrived before us, so no issue there. But after that, things got strange. By around 8:50pm, we watched at least three couples walk in, check in, and get seated within minutes, while we were still waiting with no updates. My boyfriend went to the host stand again to ask about our reservation, and he was simply told to sit back down and wait. No explanation, no apology. We were finally seated at 9:10pm once he went up for third time to ask-- more than an hour after check-in. Our server greeted us, and we ordered two cocktails while looking over the menu. Drinks came out fine, and we placed our order for the mushroom pasta and the steak progressive with mashed potatoes and garlic fries. We understand food can take time, but there was zero follow-up from our server. By the time our cocktails were done with just the ice inside, no one had checked on us, and still no food had arrived. Other than a very dry, unseasoned piece of cornbread, we had nothing on our table. At 10:15pm -- over two hours after our reservation -- we asked to cancel our food and just pay for our drinks. Our server seemed visibly annoyed and told us the dishes were "being plated," but at that point we were exhausted and done. Our bill for the two cocktails came to about $43; we left $50 and walked out at 10:20pm to grab Raising Cane's instead. Overall, this was incredibly disappointing, especially because my boyfriend wanted to take me somewhere nice for my birthday. The staff seemed distracted by each other and unorganized, and the lack of communication made everything worse. I've worked in and we both have dined at plenty of restaurants -- including fine dining -- and we've never had an experience like this. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

With an advance reservation, my party of 6 were there on December 23, 2025, at 5 pm. we were in the bar having cocktails before dinner. We were seated after 6pm. We had dinner and just finished desert and then the waiter came up to us and said we have to leave because they needed the table for a large party. For over 60 years I have eaten in restaurants all over the world and have never been asked to leave because they needed the table for a larger party. This was the most unprofessional act I have ever seen. This is the last time I will attend. I will spend that over $1,000 dollars someplace where they don't ask you to leave. The view is spectacular! Perfect for any occasion, especially the sunset, it's beautiful. Staff (manager or owner, she had a different outfit) came by to inform us when sunset was in 20mins. Waitress was nice and always smiling. The food was great, the price point was not bad for a place with such a nice view. We got squid ink pasta and 24hr prime rib, free cornbread and brownie for dessert. The steak was the best steak ever, it was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The good: the view! One of the best in OC. The not-so-good: My BF ordered the Wagyu Zabuton Benedict, which we thought would be slices of wagyu beef on the eggs Benedict but it's actually served separately on a large platter. No big deal except that the Wagyu beef was almost all fat, full of gristle and so tough to chew. It is most definitely not a "little pillow", as described on the menu. Our server later told us that others have had the same experience with this dish. Maybe revisit the source of the beef?? My French toast was not as fluffy as described and took a steak knife to cut through the hard crust. The brioche was light inside and the apples and Nutella were a nice addition, but the addition of marshmallow fluff was a bit too much. I was excited to experience the atmosphere that this restaurant offers, however from the beginning to the end of my visit I experienced such a low standard of service that was shocking. The valet team was extremely unfriendly upon entry and I don't even know how they consider it valet if when leaving I had to walk over and get my own car. When entering the restaurant there were 2 hostesses, not one acknowledged us until I mentioned I had a reservation. Then it was if they were bothered because they had to do something. The food was good, however you can go to any nice restaurant and get the same quality of food with better service.
