My cousin was here from out of town and I knew I wanted a place we could have a nice girl's night to catch up over drinks. This was the perfect spot for that. There's a cute water fountain and bridge area outside the restaurant when you first arrive. Decor is a bit dated inside but that just makes me feel it's been a part of the community for a while (not a bad thing). We got there at our reservation time on Monday night and requested to sit outside. The patio is very popular so the hostess said we would have to wait half an hour but we could go get drinks at the bar first. Not a problem so we went to the bar. They have this beauty and the beast themed drink that is super IG worthy. Only about 15 minutes later, the hostess came to get us so we were so glad we opted to wait. It just happened to be sunset so everyone was busy taking photos by our table (which was towards the end of the patio). Luckily once the sun went down, everyone went back to their seats so we got peace and quiet again. The service was fantastic! Our server was super friendly. I wish I remembered his name because he specifically told us his name again and to write him a review if we enjoyed our time there. Sorry dude! Even the valet guy was super friendly even though my car was in the shop and I had to borrow my mom's old car that's practically falling apart lol. Onto the food - the wagyu meat appetizer is fantastic and fresh in concept. They bring out a large heated brick and you cook the meat on top yourself. The brussels sprouts were a miss, not crispy enough and too saucy. The sea bass was okay. It was a little overcooked and the rice it came with was a little too sweet. We went during golden hour so the view was especially breathtaking. The strawberry dream drink was really delicious, I don't drink that often so I was glad the cocktail wasn't too strong so the strawberry flavor could shine through. When our table was ready our server was delightful and super attentive. She even gave us free bread because it took a little while for our entres to come out. We ordered the brisket, the smash burger, calamari and a baked potato to share. We like to get different things and split them so we can try it all! My husband and I came in for a date night on a Wednesday night. We sat inside by a window looking out over the balcony. Our server Alex S. was exceptional! He had great recommendations, was super friendly and helped us out if we had any questions with no hesitation! Food & drinks were delicious! We had the Calamari as our appetizer. Went for our 1 year anniversary, our first time here and it was splendid. Excellent service, food was amazing too, felt like it was solid worth for the money as well. Offered a really yummy cornbread to start and since I reserved it for our anniversary, they included a complimentary anniversary brownie which is seriously very appreciated! Anything like this is accepted by us with much graciousness since restaurants can easily charge for this kind of thing so this was deep down a very nice thing for us to receive. Brought my girlfriend to dinner a couple of weeks back and I have to say Orange Hill actually cooked an amazing rib eye! The steak; medium rare, tender, and juicy, had to have been one of the best steaks I've had in a while. I don't know what's going on lately but other places have been slacking, so it was refreshing to see one done right. The drinks were awesome as well. Only complaint I have....I would like to be asked if I want to sit outside (view/whole point) when checking in. I was seated inside with no view and had to ask to be seated outside. Understand there will probably be a longer wait but that should be something the customer can specify on the initial reservation. We had a very short wait at the in house bar over a drink, and taken to our new outside awesome view shortly after. P.S great Calamari if you're into that! read more

Came here for my girlfriend's birthday. Had a reservation at 8pm, didn't get seated until 8:30pm, and the food didn't come out until 9pm, which is basically closing time. That's quite a long time to wait for food. Service was subpar, and the food quality was comparable to Denny's on a good day. The tomahawk was overly salty and nongradient, and it took forever for our server to come back to us so that we can actually close our check. Incredibly nice views though. Do not opt to drive yourself if you are scared of heights or plan to drink at all, as it's a pretty steep road up and down. I want to like this place more but the service was terrible! Came here for an early Valentines dinner that had a nice view and good food. We got there and we're told that the parking is full and there is an overfill parking lot down the street at a college. From there, we got on a bus that drove us to the restaurant. When we got there, we were seated outside with many heat lamps and a fireplace - super romantic ambiance and a great view overlooking the best of OC (suggest to wear long pants and a jacket while dining outside because it's still freezing). However, all the good things stopped there when our waiter came and pressured us to buy drinks that we did not want. I told him I wanted the belle drink and he said the tropical drink was better and he was going to put the order in even though I said it's not what I want. He also added an alcohol drink for dessert when I didn't want it! I said I wanted a hot tea drink and he ordered three wishes pot which contained gin in it - all served over ice on a cold windy night. I was so done with Matthew our waiter! He also rudely dismissed our requests for appetizers and we asked him to help take a picture of us multiple times without any action. He always had a pissed off attitude and didn't check in on us or our food which made us not enjoy our experience at all. Came here for an anniversary dinner and we loved it! Our servers Alyssa and another girl, can't recall her name, were phenomenal servers. They were both very friendly and attentive. The food was also very delicious, from the crab cake, the steaks, to the sticky toffee pudding. Would definitely have that exact meal all over again. We started with the Brussel sprouts and the Wagyu, which its presentation alone was fabulous. It comes out with a 850-1000 degree brick that you sear the meat on. Wow!! So yummy. Amazing date night location! Got there right at sunset and loved enjoying the views outside on the patio. Our server was wonderful, so attentive, turning the heat lamp up and down for me haha, and the food all came out in perfect order and in a timely way. Delicious food and perfect atmosphere for date night or special occasions! My boyfriend and I have been here twice and we absolutely loved both experiences at Orange Hill. The first time we came here they had these AMAZING bison sliders which sadly were a limited time dish because it wasn't available during our most recent visit. This time we ordered the following: mac and cheese, spinach dip, prime rib, and braised short rib. Everything was great and portioned generously- however the short rib was a little too salty for my taste, still amazing texture and flavor though. Our server, Caitlin D, was extremely attentive and personable, was always checking up to make sure we were happy with everything. We made a reservation knowing that it was better to be safe than sorry. I was happy to find that same-day reservations were allowed, considering we placed ours three hours before our arrival. First Impressions: The view was breathtaking. I'm a sucker for night skylines and bright lights. I'd say it's more impressive than the Perch in LA, just because the restaurant sits alone on the top of the hill in a quiet neighborhood. There is a lot of privacy when it comes the location. Check-In Process: We arrived 30 minutes early from our reservation time and the host and hostess were extremely welcoming. They were able to get us seated early. This was our first time here, and here are some things I'd like to point out when it came to the meal: 1. Instead of just ordering starters, we paired the coconut shrimp with some sides: fries and mac and cheese. I originally wanted the mashed potatoes, but I guess there was some confusion, and I just let it go. The mashed potatoes will have to be a must try next time I come back. FYI the sides double as good starters for their price and portion size. We got full off the mac and cheese without touching the fries. 2. My boyfriend ordered the Chilean sea bass which he LOVED. He gets Chilean sea bass everywhere we eat. This is where my review goes down a little. I ordered the Wagyu Zabuton 8 oz. My server Brian recommended "The Brick" 4 oz and hinted that it was basically the same thing. I should have listened because the presentation for the Wagyu was a little disappointing. The Brick and how it was served is way more exciting, and the meat looked tender. When I ate my Wagyu Zabuton, it tasted like any other steak. It wasn't that tender either, and I ordered it medium rare. Maybe it was the size? My last recommendation is skip the cut of Wagyu Zabuton, order the brick for 28 ish bucks and add an additional side for less of the zabuton price. You would get a way better presentation, tastier Wagyu, and a side to try. Otherwise, my experience was lovely and I had a great time just being out on the patio watching the view. Honestly, this was one of the best dining experiences in Orange County. The food was 10/10 The service was 10/10 (shoutout to Tommy) The view was 10/10 There was not one thing that Tommy recommended that was not delicious! We started with the crispy brussel sprouts and crab cake, between the two get the brussel sprouts. The cadillac margarita was also perfection. I've lived in Orange County for 8 years and I wanted to give this place a try for my wife and I's first date out after having a baby. Service was off, we got seated waited a few, ordered an app said we need a few minutes. My wife asked to have her cup of water replaced since there was food in it... not a big deal until the waitress didn't come back for over 30 minutes and was rude about it. We ate the appetizers and closed out our tab... I still tipped fairly since you never know if someone is having a bad day. One word, Adam. Management, give the guy praise, an award, a raise, something because even though it was busy for Father's Day, he was on it. Not knowing that I am a food critic and run a 'support local businesses' page, we still had exceptional service. When the time was right, and the sun had set, he closed the umbrella and took the time to explain each landmark out in the distance. Food came out in a timely manner, he was funny, and gave his suggestions when asked. Ambiance: 10/10 Food: must try beef carpaccio, the presentation was spectacular and crab cakes were good too. Drinks were all on point. Wagyu steak was delicious and next time we will get the caviar fries rather than regular to try. Seabass was cooked perfect. Squid ink pasta with lobster and shrimp was my daughter's favorite and the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the little one loved the burger. Cesar salad, my one suggestion being a food snob, needs more anchovy paste (or anchovies on the top). My family and I came here for brunch today. We made reservations ahead of time and asked for outside siding because the day would be nice. We were celebrating a birthday so we wanted a view. When we arrived here, it was valet only so be aware. The front of this restaurant before you walk inside is very nice with a pond of fishes and a little waterfall. There also a nice sitting area to sit outside while you wait to be seated. They couldn't give us outside seating so we had to sit inside for a party of 9 people. For our entree we went with 2 brunch platter for 2 which comes with classic egg Benedict, herb roasted prime rib, Alaskan crab legs, Belgian waffle, apple smoked bacon, chicken apple sausage and roasted potatoes. On the second order they were able to accommodate with mashed potatoes instead which was appreciated. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and my wife got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The food took a while to come out but I think it cause the platter for 2 entree is a big meal especially for the cost. You will get full from the platter and it can likely feed more than 3 people. The platter was the crowd favorite and you'll likely be sleepy because it's heavy. I thought the chicken sandwich was good but did not like the fries and my wife enjoyed her Caesars salad. I got a coke to drink and I made sure to double check that it's free refills here which it is. The view if you sit outside on a nice day is beautiful and you can also walk outside to take pictures if you're dining inside. The staff and our waitress was polite with us but I know they were kind of annoyed at the person who requested outdoor seating didn't get it because I overheard them talking when I got out of the bathroom. The bar is very nice and the bartenders were amazing, they give me free water when I was waiting to be seated and was thirsty. The valet takes credit card as payment but they will charge a fee so be aware. I would gladly come back here during dinner because I believe the view would be more spectacular along with the entree choices as well. read more

Been to this establishment many times over the years with my service animal (2 pound dog, causes no problems, well behaved) but today will be the last. Assistant manager a lady, thought she was bigger than life and the restaurant and decided to refuse my wife and I service on her birthday because we had a dog that helps with my seizures. They should be absolutely embarrassed and ashamed. A nice view won't make people come back, just remember. If your service is awful, that's more of a reason to go to many other beautiful restaurants in Orange County. What a lovely, lovely special place! If I could italicize special in Yelp, I would! My cousin has been attending Chapman these past four years and my aunt has heard thru the grapevine about this restaurant and saved it as a restaurant to go to for his graduation. The first notable thing, is that you can see the restaurant atop a hill and know you get the unique please of driving a private winding road up to your destination. There is a valet awaiting you immediately atop, so maybe find a discreet way to put out your smoke before getting fully up to the top - unlike me!! We spent a few moments in the bar looking out the picture windows at a rare glimpse of Southern CA from such a vantage point. I had the Freckles drink, which was a lovely non-alch strawberry lemonade beverage. Most of my family indulged in cocktails and they all look beautiful and everyone seemed well-pleased!! We were then seated at our table and had the wonderful privilege of Jordan as our server. We are large and can sometimes be a tad rowdy, but he was more than capable of the job and was an all around most excellent and affable server - thank you Jordan!! He helped guide us to good choices such as the crab cake and the cornbread - yum!! Worth every penny!! We had a large party and were splurging on the dinner so we enjoyed the seafood tower, which was unbelievably fresh and someone also ordered the spinach dip, which was also so good. Everything was so good and balanced truly. For an entree my grandmother and I split the Wagyu 8oz and shared in some family-style sides. We are both smaller eaters, the 8oz is a perfect size for smaller eaters, should you not indulge in too much before hand. I've never had Wagyu and it was perfectly cooked for my sensibilities - a crisp exterior, with a medium rare buttery interior that was unlike any steak I've ever tried. I don't think I'll try it many other places for how good it was here, for an approachable price point. The last things I'll say is that the cornbread is phenomenal, which the beautiful Canada Connie sent our way, with hot honey and a special salt topping. She also shared the history that a passionate man opened up this restaurant in the 70s after opening The Reef in Long Beach and now his sons operate and manage his restaurants. Went for my sisters birthday and sat out on the patio, lets start by talking about the obvious- the views and vibes were amazing outside! When you first walk in there is koi fish and some ponds outside which make it feel so magical as your walking in. After getting seated, It was chilly outside but they turned on the fire pits and the heaters, plus gave us complimentary blankets! The views at sunset and at night were breathtaking! Our waiter (dont remember his name sorry ;( ) was super nice and patient with us (despite us taking forever to order) and he was funny too which made the whole experience better. Now onto food! The food was your basic steakhouse vibes, but it was really tasty! I asked for a table with a view several weeks in advance but got one where servers and guests had to bump into our chairs by a door and it was my first time there. The cocktail and wine list was not bad however, I didn't get my wine until after my appetizer was served and mostly eaten. The wedge salad was ok. The bacon and the pickled onions were lovely but it was a bit lacking in dressing. I could have asked for more dressing but ended up just eating the parts that had enough dressing. The wine came almost as I finished my salad. Since my husband ordered the 12 oz prime rib, I ordered the mushroom pasta. Both were quite generous and delicious. If I was the manager and I had to do seat planning, I would not have created the table at where we were seated. We were just two but sat at a four top that was in a high traffic area. If it was not a server hitting our chairs, a guest was walking and bumping our chairs. I didn't want to complain since my husband wanted to do something nice for me on a special occasion. He meant well and it was not his fault that we got a bad table. Several diners around us left their tables to take photos of themselves with the view in other locations. Based on this meal, we were going to see if we would come back for other occasions and I am on the fence. It depends on what table you get. I would either go for an early dinner to avoid a wait despite having reservations or a late dinner if you don't care about seeing the sunset since it was almost empty at 7:30pm. read more
