You can't miss Orange Square on the corner! Pretty big space and lots of seating. We came on a Sunday night and were the only ones in the restaurant- slow night. I was a little frustrated considering we were the only ones there, the cashier took some time to acknowledge us as they were scrolling through their phone. Otherwise our order came out fast! Ordered the Salt & Pepper Basil Popcorn chicken- not bad, enjoyed the light batter however had clumps of batter and the seasonings were a little heavy for my liking. I think I would order the bowl next time so that I could eat this with rice. I would come by to try the other options!
I was looking for someplace to grab braised pork belly from after a gym session and this place popped up. It looked promising, so I made an online order and drove over - knowing it was quite far from where I was and from where I needed to head to next. But, the promise of good food is always a motivator! I ended up getting a deluxe braised pork belly rice bowl and the slow braised pork stew since I wanted to see what was the difference. The prices were a great value for what I ended up getting. I enjoyed the bowl more than the bento box - the bowl packed quite a bit of things in it for such a great price! The pork stew bento was good, but it wasn't as flavorful as the pork belly. I also got a thai tea, which tasted like that tea you get in a can. It wasn't bad, but way too sweet and left an aftertaste. The restaurant is located in its own little space with ample parking both in front and around the building. It's a little oddly configured, as the front entrance is not near either parking areas, but around the side facing onto the street. I walked around the building from the parking lot, getting anxious since I didn't see the door where I thought it was supposed to be. Inside, there's plenty of space to sit if you're dining in. I was able to grab my order from the front quickly and was back in my car all within five minutes. Overall, I'd come back and try a few other dishes that looked good, but only if I'm in the area as it's a bit of a drive.
A friend and I wanted to try a taiwanese spot and we heard of Orange Square from mutuals. As you enter, there is a screen kiosk where you can view the menu and order your food. There are a variety of bento box styled meals and rice bowls to select from. The menu is also accessible on the hanging signs behind the register area. Once you order, it is self serve for seating arrangements. Each table has a number, and to be honest, I am not sure how they can tell where to deliver the food, but likely due to the lack of customers, they were able to spot where to drop the food off. Service was pretty quick, maybe maximum 8-10 minutes after ordering. Water and extra condiments are self-serve. My friend ordered the five spices chicken cutlet square, while I got the deluxe braised pork rice bowl. My friend enjoyed his chicken cutlet square, however for my braised pork rice bowl, I thought it was quite oily, overwhelming much of the flavor. By the nature of pork belly, which is quite fatty, most other places I am able to taste more of the flavor, but the shear amount of oily-ness was kind of a downer for me. They give you a lot of rice in the bowl as well, so the lacking flavor from the pork on top of the oily rice was not it for me. Overall, I would maybe try Orange Square again but would not order that rice bowl. It was just okay...
I've had this place bookmarked for awhile. My daughter and son-in-law live in the area so I've been bugging them to try it with me but they've been resistant. Finally I just decided to go by myself and see if it lived up to the reviews. I came during lunch and it was a ghost town. I was literally the only customer there except for the Doordasher picking up a delivery order. Parking is plentiful except we just had a decent rain storm that left a large part under water. The interior is bright, modern and clean. When you walk in, you're met with menus posted on a glass partition at eyelevel along with an ordering kiosk. I've mentioned this before, and I'll mention it again. Ordering kiosks are so unfriendly. I did see someone poke their head out and smile at me, but that was the only customer service I received. I placed my order and waited. When my items were ready for pick up the employee literally said my number set my bag down on the counter and walked away. I was standing right In front of her. I could understand if they were really busy, but how hard is it to make your customer feel welcome? Needless to say, I grabbed my bag and off I went. Here's what I ordered: TERIYAKI CHICKEN BOWL $15++ White rice was cooked well and there was A LOT of it under the chicken. Along with the rice was some sautéed cabbage, two pieces of broccoli, one piece of red pepper and a single cherry tomato. Not sure if that was supposed to be a salad and a soy egg half. This part was fine but basic. Let's talk about the teriyaki chicken. There was a decent amount but why oh why is the slimy, mushy, fatty skin left on it? It completely grossed me out. I pulled as much off as I could but a few pieces slipped passed me and I just couldn't finish eating it. Sorry Orange Square. This was a big no for me.
Came here for the very first time to try out some Vietnamese food. The food was very delicious and flavorful, it was bit on the sweeter side. Portion was generous. It was quite a busy restaurant with a very clean surrounding. They served the food very fast and placing order was very easy as it was all computerized. Would definitely come again. They had a very good parking just in front of the restaurant. This restaurant is located just next to the Santa Clara Library.
We were passing by and decided to pop into this spot to try something new and we're glad we did. They had a lot of bento style options and the food was delicious. Service was quick and attentive. The place it self is big, but there were some concerns of cleanliness near the kitchen and in the bathroom.
I ordered the basil popcorn chicken and boba for take out on UberEats, they had a BOGO for the popcorn chicken and boba. (we ate a box in the car) Really good value, but the food was okay. Good portion size for the cost. The chicken was crispy, the batter was seasoned. At the store they have spices on the side that you can add to the chicken. Very standard, chicken was neither moist or dry, not a lot of flavor in the meat, probably needed to be marinated a bit longer maybe? For the value and portion size, can't complain. The milk tea is not as fragrant as other boba, it was on the darker side, but could not taste a lot of the notes that you usually get from assam tea. At least it was not watered down. The boba was soak in sugar and was on the sweeter side. Most of the boba had good texture a bit chew, but I had a few that were a bit dried up and hard, it lost its chewiness. Overall not too bad for the price.
Tasty delicious food! Bit of a wait time but it's worthwhile. Braised pork chop rice bowl: 5/5 Got the food to go! The pork belly is extremely soft and melts in your mouth and the rice is plump and flavorful because it's absorbed the pork belly sauce. The egg is well marinated as well. The veggies are .. just veggies but they added a cute carrot star so that earns a few points in my book. C: The bowl held up well during transportation and the food was still enjoyable even when it got a little cold during the ride back home! Service: It did take a while for the food to get ready at the restaurant but there's plenty of room in the waiting area. Ambiance: Not heavily decorated. You're here for the food not the ambiance. There is a lot is seating available so feel free to come in groups. I heard the milk tea at this spot is tasty so I'll have to come back to try that.
It's been long overdue, but I gave them another try after their opening and am now a regular customer. I usually get the chicken leg bento deal on Wednesdays, which is a great deal. The bento comes with a chicken leg, rice, and some small side dishes. The wait times are quite long on those days though, so I recommend ordering ahead of time online. They also do other holiday promotions such as the free boba refills and ice cream. Most of them are good deals, besides the Thanksgiving cornish chicken (which is on the smaller side for the price). Their classic boba tea is also less sweet compared to other places I've had, which I do like. Usually I get food to go, but they have kiosks to order and then you can grab a seat to dine in; everything is self served. Overall I would recommend trying Orange Square for some authentic Taiwanese food.
I've been wanting to try this place for probably 2 years but just never got around to doing so. After seeing the holiday surprise bag, I quickly took advantage by ordering two items we've been interested in - the basil S&P popcorn chicken snack and the pot roast beef brisket square. The set also came with a drink and I chose the "winter melon lemon aiyu (decaf") with 0% ice and 0% sugar. This was pretty good too and still mildly sweet. It does say "must have sugar" with 30% as the lowest option if I were to order it a la carte online, so I'm not certain if it the sweetness primarily came from the sugar rather than the fruits after all. The popcorn chicken is very well-seasoned, crispy outside, and juicy inside. Even after the 15-minute drive home, it retained a crisp. I'm pretty sure I clicked spicy but perhaps I misremembered as it didn't come with the spice powder on the side, and since everything was packaged well, I didn't notice. Pot roast beef brisket is incredibly tender and savory and came mixed with carrots, green beans, and daikon. The other sides were some broccoli, a cut of egg roll, a succotash of corn and edamame, and cabbage with red bell peppers and what seemed to be wood ear mushrooms. The egg roll and succotash were covered in some sort of sweet sauce that was a bit sticky. After leaving the box in the fridge, I noticed the sides had some gelatin in it (just like the meat) so they probably poured the sauce or liquid from the pot-roasted meat into the sides! Also as a side note, the container that the square now comes in says it's microwave-safe for up to 4 minutes. Will definitely return to try some of the other options!
I've heard good things about this place, but maybe I chose the wrong bento or it was an off day. The pork chop was like 60% breading, which was unpleasant to eat and I ended up scrapping away all the breading. The meat was also really fatty. I did really like all the side dishes though and my friends who got the chicken leg one really enjoyed theirs. I think it's more of a takeout spot though - it was completely empty when we went but a lot of dashers came in and out.
Went on Christmas Day for Lunch! It was a bit busy but food came pretty fast. The bento portion is huge. Lots of side dishes. I couldn't finish all the rice. Service: I ordered dine-in so they brought the food to my table. Staff was very nice and went to get utensil for us as well. Ambiance: there are some tables inside. Most people order to go so I think it's easy to get a table inside. Plenty of parking outside.

We love coming here to orange square. The food and service is always amazing. Love the braised pork deluxe rice and the drinks, especially the lychee snow is super delicious. Huge fan of here and highly recommend coming here to enjoy the yummy food!! read more

idk if I would even consider wanting to come back. They seem to prioritize to go and doordash orders over dine in orders, and all I ordered was their golden chicken, their oyster mushrooms and rice. While they do seem popular for their bigger ric dishes, our food seemed to be the least of their concerns and so many people who ordered after us got their order. We ordered our food at 1:30pm, mildly busy, but we got our food at 2:00pm I usually don't mind waiting. But to wait this long for a snack is unbelievable. Food is really good! But hopefully they can at least apologize for the wait or something. read more

Overall I was excited to try a new Taiwanese food place. To cover the bases I got a milk tea, specifically the jasmine lychee milk tea. I also got the pork chop bento and then fried taro and egg yolk balls and finally the popcorn chicken. The best thing is definitely the popcorn chicken as it's perfectly fried and not overly salty. I would get this one again. The fried taro balls were solid with lava runny egg yolk but may have been a tad oily. The jasmine lychee milk tea was great with lots of lychee chunks in it, just the way I like it. Finally the pork chop bento was definitely edible but it's not the authentic Taiwanese pork chop because it's both fried and drenched in sauce. Usually you either get a crispy fried pork chop with salt and white pepper or the grilled version that's been marinated in spices but not drenched in sauce. The ambiance is really nice with comfortable booths. Great spot for a casual date to share some solid food and drinks that won't break the bank. read more

I used to live right around the corner from here, but I never felt the urge to visit (grilled chicken legs aren't really my thing). But! It's a Wednesday and I was hanging out with my mom (aka I needed a ride somewhere) so she wanted to introduce me to this place. Wednesdays = $9.99 special for their grilled chicken leg bento + bogo drinks from menu item A1 - A19 from 2pm - 5pm. The bogo drinks are actually available during the other weekdays too, though Wed would prob be the best day to visit if you want cost efficiency. Drinks: We got the oolong crema + wintermelon lemon with aiyu (default sweetness + less ice). I confirmed with the cashier that they do not add additional sugar in addition to the wintermelon. Sweetness level refers to how much wintermelon they add in the drink. When I said less ice, they gaveee less ice. As in, I have no ice in my drink by the time I got home. Normally, I would LOVE that. However, the wintermelon was too overpowering in my drink (too sweet) + lemon was kinda bitter so it would have been nice if I had a bit more ice to dilute it. Or maybe next time I should just try 75% sweetness. The aiyu topping was soft and good texture. It's weird that their menu doesn't list the drinks in order though. Why bother numbering them then....? Grilled chicken leg bento: Wow, this bento box was bigger than I expected. Definitely a good value, and reasonably priced even if there were no special. Rice was on the drier side though. Finally had a chance to come by for the happy hour drinks special! This is what's only from 2-5pm for their A1-A19 drink items. I was a bit bummed since I originally thought this bogo free offer was for all their drinks. I'd really been wanting to try more of their frozen drink options, but guess maybe another time. Got the wintermelon lemon aiyu drink with no ice and 30% sugar ($4.99) and a classic milk tea with boba ($4.55, free after bogo). The wintermelon drink was good with a nice hint of lemon. The wintermelon part wasn't as strong. The milk tea was good, average boba tea. Would probably get something else more unique next time. Overall, happy hour is a nice treat and I'd recommend stopping by for that! read more

A Doordash order for 12pm was ready at 11:30... But my online order for pick up at 11:15 was not ready until 11:40... Why? Pretty frustrating to be there, waiting for 30 extra minutes while other orders later than yours gets fulfilled. On top of my order not being ready on time, they also forgot one of my items that I ordered and I had to go back to get it. Always check your orders!! Staff was pretty nice but even with the amount of people they had behind the counter and in the kitchen, they couldn't keep up with the crowd. The SEARED FRESH SALMON TERIYAKI SQUARE was decent. It's just teriyaki salmon so not much expectation there. DELUXE BRAISED PORK RICE BOWL was their most popular item. While the braised pork tasted good, it was just really fatty. Yes I know what I was getting into but still just a warning. The sausage was ok but that broccoli was hard. The popcorn chicken was ok, nice big pieces which is always a plus. The super fruit tea was ok. A couple of my family members didn't like their orders. They thought everything was too fatty and greasy and the flavors weren't up to par. In summary, based off the waiting and food, I don't have much incentive to return. read more

One of my go-to spots for a nice lunch or to grab food for a picnic! They specialize in their Taiwanese-styled bentos, which have various items: rice, tofu, veggies, etc. Each day, the side dishes vary. I definitely recommend the Chicken Leg Bento ($10 on Wednesdays) and the Five Spice Chicken! Besides bentos, they have great drinks and snacks too. You have to try the Crispy King Oyster Mushroom, Deluxe Braised Pork Rice Bowl, and the Fresh Watermelon Juice! Everything is flavored well and not greasy whatsoever. Most of the meals here remind me of comfort home meals, which is perfect for when I'm lazy and want to get my veggies in! My favorite dishes to get here are: - Popcorn Chicken: Not as crispy as I would prefer but the chicken is so juicy! - Golden Egg Yolk Taro Ball: this is more like a dessert and is pretty filling. I used to love orange square and after moving, we haven't been here in a year. We made the trek over here because I was craving good popcorn chicken, but was disappointed. They used to have juicy and big chicken pieces that were crispy yet tender. The order we received today was so dry and the pieces were tiny. Maybe it was just an off day today, but it makes it hard to justify coming back for a coin toss. read more
I love this place so much. With all my heart. Their bentos, rice bowls, drinks, the space and seating the wifi connection offered. Everything is perfect. You can enjoy delicious meals and pick me up drinks while doing your work or studying or just to meet a friend to catch up. The drive is worth it for me. Love their braised pork belly. To be frank, sometimes, it can be a little dry but this time it was very juicy, melt in your mouth type of meat. The side dishes are crunchy and refreshing pickled vegetables like radish, celery, cabbage, broccoli, black fungus mushrooms...pickled radish is my favorite. It was my first time ordering the deluxe bowl, so yummy! The topping is the braised pork except chopped up into pieces and they give Taiwanese sausage, broccoli, and boiled egg! This is one of the best Taiwanese bento places in the Bay Area! The Taiwanese fried chicken steak bento is very authentic with right amount of seasoning and spices. The texture is also very good, though the meat is not the most juicy one, since it's on the thinner side. The braised beef bento was also very well made with right amount of Asian herbs/anise flavor in it. The sides are good too. The portion is quite big too! High CP (cost-performance) ratio. Recommend take out, since there are only few tables available. However, interior is clean and organized. Not too crowded. read more
It's 3.5 stars for me and I don't mind rounding up. I ordered through UberEats and it arrived well-packaged. Everything was stacked neatly in a nice bag and I like their containers. What I ordered: (1) Avocado Salad - I know it's weird to order a salad, but I am eating healthier, so I definitely needed my obligatory veggies. The salad is pretty standard, but it came with quality mixed greens (no sign of iceberg lettuce - thank god), perfectly sliced avocado, and some roasted taro chips. The house wine vinaigrette dressing was surprisingly good (recommended) as it was acidic, refreshing, and flavorful. This was a good start to my meal. (2) Braised Pork Bowl - The bowl was full of rice, there was a good amount of braised pork and some broccoli. Because it was takeout I think the rice steamed and softened the broccoli more than I would like but that's okay. The braised pork was a good balance of fat and lean meat. It had flavor, but it was a little bland. It could have used more saltiness or a kick of spiciness to round out the sweetness. Maybe the ratio of rice was too much, so they could have added more sauce to compensate for it? Anyway, it wasn't bad by any means, but it tasted like a healthier version of the traditional braised pork bowl, which I didn't mind too much. It was missing something and the sweetness shone through a little too much throwing off the overall flavor. (3) Stewed Beef Bento - I'll skip the sides of the bento. They were all cold sides and pretty decent (pickled veggies and a side of white rice). I ordered the stewed tendons and beef. The cut was exactly that. The vegetables in the soup (daikon, carrots) were cooked just through and not disintegrating into the stew so yay! However, the flavor was a little too light for me that it tasted a little sterile. It's missing something like a black pepper or depth. Again, it tasted like a healthier version of a stew, which I didn't mind again. Overall, I would definitely order take-out and revisit this place since I like the fact that it's casual, no-fuss, not super expensive, and uses fresh ingredients in all of their dishes (or at least the 3 I ordered). None of them seemed sad by any means, just a little conservative with the seasoning. However, I will take that over salty, over-seasoned foods (I'm looking at you, L&L HBBQ). The portions aren't stingy and the ingredients are fresh, so I will continue to support them as long as they don't have a drop in quality. I do love my Taiwanese comfort food and love the fact that I can get a healthier/lighter version of it when I'm torn between my stomach and my vanity (I aspire to be a gym bro with a six-pack). read more
Found Orange Square on DoorDash recently when looking for a quick delivered lunch. Had it two days in a row because it was so good! The deluxe braised pork rice bowl + Taiwanese sausage had a generous amount of toppings over a flavorful bed of rice. The sauce from the pork was absorbed into the rice and made for a delicious lunch! Also tried the five spices fried chicken square. The plastic bento box was placed nicely inside a thin Orange Square box. Beautiful presentation! The box included broccoli, green beans, cabbage, and I think pickled radishes? There was a huge amount of chicken. The chicken I had was slightly over fried so it was a it tough but it was still very good! The Fresh Watermelon Passion Fruit Green Tea drink was refreshing and complemented the dishes perfectly. The plastic spork and wooden chopsticks were packaged nicely in an Orange Square packet. read more

Focused around healthy Taiwanese bento box with a plentiful appetizer and drinks menu to boot, this place puts a lot of effort on the packaging front as well. Great to-go fare if you don't have time for a sit-down meal. I have yet to go wrong with the menu thus far. Online ordering off of their website is your best bet for a to-go meal. They have a special on Wednesdays for their chicken leg square ($10). With a dedicated parking lot, it's pretty trivial to find a spot to either pick your food up to-go or dine in. Decent amount of interior dining space. Their "orange square" is essentially a rice bento with a Taiwanese entree meat of some sort and veggie-based sides. Each bento is quite the hefty meal and I generally have leftovers of some sort (which are already neatly packaged for easy storage or stacking). My most recent visit went with their slow-braised pork stew and five-spice fried chicken cutlet squares, with a side of sweet potato fries. Fried items were notably packed with some ventilation so they traveled much better. ==Slow-braised pork== I'm such a sucker for fatty cuts of meat, but these are well balanced with not as much fat on the braised pork. Moist as heck and very tender. ==Fried chicken cutlet== Nicely seasoned and lightly crispy in texture. They're quite generous with the portioning of chicken too. ==Them sides== The side dishes are a nice mix of pickled veggies (like the golden kimchi and radish/carrots) and some savory veggie dishes (celery stir-fry with a shrimp and some fried tofu rolls). The tofu rolls were quite the treat being a bit salty-sweet and still quite crispy despite their sauce coating. read more

I had to pick up a cake from Hanabi, and I saw that Orange Square was the designated pickup location. Never been nor heard of the place, so I figured I might as well try some place new for a late lunch since my pickup time was at 2pm. I liked the concept of the Square. It was like a Taiwanese version of a bento box with rice, a type of meat, and some sides. I pre-ordered my meal through Grubhup for pickup at Orange Square. I purchased the pot roast beef tendon and brisket square and an additional snack of fried oyster mushrooms. The pot roast beef tendon and brisket was excellent. The beef was incredibly tender. The umami from the broth was rich and flavorful, so I appreciated that it wasn't overly salty. The pot roast also had some stewed veggies including celery and carrots. To prevent a mess, the pot toast was kept in a separate container from the square tray. The square tray consisted of white rice, pickled radishes, curry kimchi (loved this one the best), and a pickled celery salad with shrimp and tofu. All things considered, this was a pretty balanced meal. I enjoyed the fried mushrooms. They were lightly battered and lightly seasoned in salt and pepper. The side was plentiful and consisted of good-sized chunks of oyster mushrooms. read more

I didn't know Poorboy's Cajun Kitchen moved shop. I don't frequent that area of Santa Clara as much anymore...and I usually visit a different spot to satisfy my Taiwanese Snack cravings. Glad I had the opportunity to stop by Orange Square as I was unfamiliar with them...All thanks to YES! Some good eats: ~ A19. CHEESE CREME OOLONG TEA 奶蓋桂花烏龍 - 4/5 I asked for 50% less sugar and 25% Ice. in' hindsight, I could have left the Sugar levels at normal...unlike some other Boba places this was not overly sweet. 50% less had me wishing for more sugar! Good flavor and the Cheese Cream was delish! I completely forgot to ask for boba...doh! ~ B04. FIVE SPICES FRIED CHICKEN CUTLET SQUARE 五香炸雞排方 - 4/5 A solid meal...good size portions. Great presentation as well. Looks like they put a fair bit of effort into it. The chicken was fried to perfection! The most surprising part was the tasty vegetables...great flavor and texture. ~ S02. BASIL S&P POPCORN CHICKEN 夜市鹽酥雞 - 5/5 Popcorn Chicken! Perfection! Fried to a crispy perfection with a good amount of Basil and spices on the side allowing you to customize your level of spiciness. ~ S06. GOLDEN EGG YOLK TARO BALL 金沙芋泥球 - 5/5 Wasn't sure what to expect...I definitely wanted to try the EGG YOLK TARO BALL and thought it sounded interesting. Deceptively heavy and filling. I had take out from this place twice now and it's my go to lunch spot if I feel like having a Taiwanese bento box. I have not try their drinks yet, so the review is solely based on the chicken leg I've had. It's very flavorful, tastes like they have marinated the night before and it's soy base. With that comes rice, white radish, broccoli, some kind of thin tofu skin wrap around shrimp and mixed veggies such as squash mixed with carrots and baby corn. The presentation is cute, but I prefer them not to put the bento box in an orange cardboard because I don't like polluting the planet, so for them to use the cardboard for me to having toss it out is such a waste. They do points system, so when you reach a certain point, you get some sort of a freebie. Ordering online is more expensive than ordering in person which I learned that today. They have their anniversary sale going on this week where you can order their bento box at a cheaper price and the first 25 people to come in the store and 75 people to order online gets the discounted price. Once you order from the counter, your number is called for you to pick it up on the right side of the cash register. Can't miss this place as you drive by, Orange Square is located on the corner of Homestead and Las Palmas Drive. They also have a huge Orange Square sign out front with a handful of parking - the entrance is on the opposite side of the parking lot. What I got: - 5 spices fried chicken cutlet box: 4/5 - the 5 spice was not seasoned throughout the entire cutlet but mainly on the middle parts on each piece, thicker pieces so not as tender, but overall flavorful. The sides that came with it were uniquely different but good. - braised pork rice bowl: 4/5 - pretty loaded bowl - very flavorful braised pork, sausage was good, broccoli was cooked al dente. - golden egg yolk taro balls: 5/5 - the outside had the perfect soft crunch. The inside, the egg yolk complemented the taro really well - surprisingly really good! - fresh taro milk tea w/ taro chunks: 3/5 - was on the plainer side, a bit flavorless and tasted more like chunky taro thrown in a cup of milk. Overall, great place to grab some Taiwanese food - tons of variety and options with huge portions and great value. read more

What's the ingredient of the super fruit tea? Does it have added sugar even when no sugar is selected at checkout?
Strawberry, lime, orange, watermelon, lemon, passion fruit, mango chunks and green tea. If you select no sugar, we do not add any additional syrup, but the fruits and the juices will be naturally sweet.
