You go where you know the pizza is going to show up hot, generous, and delicious. You go to Gianni Mazia's. They're a beloved local staple for pizza, subs, and all things gloriously Italian, and I can personally vouch for their pizza -- especially the pepperoni and mushroom, which has become my permanent order because my mouth refuses to accept alternatives. Gianni Mazia's is also home to what I consider one of Clarence's most elite social clubs: the Wednesday Lunch Ladies. My mom, Carol, and Dot meet here every single week. They are known by name. They have their own table. They have their orders. I am occasionally allowed to occupy a chair at this sacred gathering, though I sometimes respectfully bow out so Girl Time can proceed uninterrupted. My mom's regular order is the ham sub -- and when I say she loves it, I mean she probably dreams about it. I've tried to remain loyal to my pizza... but writing this review has now convinced me I will absolutely be ordering that ham sub for dinner tomorrow. So yes -- great pizza, legendary subs, friendly staff, and the kind of place that quietly becomes part of your routine and your stories. Gianni Mazia's isn't just a restaurant. Concerned Clarence Citizen, Getting off of work after picking up my two kids from after-school program, I just wanted to have a nice family outing and have a cheat pizza night with my children. While we were waiting inside to pick up our food, a young girl, in her twenties I imagine, was talking with her coworkers behind the bar, spouting things I'd never imagine hearing in Clarence New York! "What are your guys' thoughts on Jews?" and "I gotta admit I'm a Nazi, if you're a Jew you deserve to be tied up and shot in the head." While mocking the Nazi regime salute. I have never been so disgusted in my life, and to talk about such things in the workplace with children around! I immediately rushed out, not wanting my kids to be exposed to such things! Celebrated daughters bday here every year. Ordered a triple finger and hey Tony pepperoni wood-fire pizza . Fries that came with finger basket were awesome. Fresh cut, hot and tons of them. Pizza was just ok, needed to be cooked a min or two more, too much flop. Fingers cooked well, medium was what you would expect. Raspberry bbq was sweet if you like that note, I bet these would be great on a wing on the pit. Honey mustard just tasted like regular mustard which wasn't the best flavor note. Would pass one these if you were expecting a more Carolina gold type sauce. A triple finger, the fry and pizza was enough to feed 4 people with leftovers. All good size fingers and fries. This Clarence, NY restaurant knows its niche market, and serves it well. If you're within the target audience, this is a comfortable place; if not, you notice the variance. Our visit was a midweek lunch. Retirees were sitting at the bar (in front of the open pizza oven) getting their drink on. No songs were played recorded more recently than 1982. The single waitress was cheerful and efficient, and took our orders quickly. Although the prices on the menu gave me sticker shock ($23 for a pasta entree, for instance), when the meal arrived the cost was justified. Choice of soup or salad as an appetizer; the pasta was easily a full pound on the plate, with the house sauce. Started coming here occasionally for lunch about two years ago. Very good lunch pizza special. Slices are very reasonably priced. The service at lunchtime is always EXCEPTIONAL! Got a chance to try this place out last night and it was the perfect spot for a quick bite. Went during a blizzard and it appears that only half the restaurant is open during the winter months but has a nice looking outdoor area for the summer. Wait staff was incredible. Our waitress went above and beyond and all the staff was very lovely. Pretty good price value for the food and everything I was able to try was great. I'd always make it a point to stop and get some pizza when I was in the area but my most recent visit makes me not want to come back anymore. Came in on a Friday night around 8pm. It was my first time here and I had a great experience, personally. We were seated immediately and the waitress came over quickly and got our drinks. We put in our orders quickly. My friend already ate so just came for dessert and I decided to try the fish fry. I'm not a fan of coleslaw so the waitress offered extra fries or extra macaroni salad in its place. My friend got the chocolate ganache cake and enjoyed it. I loved my fish fry. Macaroni salad tasted great and homemade (not sure if it was but it tasted fresh like it). Fries were good as well. I enjoyed the ambiance too. It was relaxed but also warm and cozy with dimmed lighting. There's also a bar area you can sit at where the brick oven is also going and giving off a nice little fire. I would come back here. Wings and pizza seem to go together everywhere but NYC (where pizza is Italian, and wings are something else). Like in Clarence. And in my belly. And Mazia's does both well. To be clear, this is upstate pizza. The crust is thicker, and not quite as crisp, but it's good. It hits the spot, as only pizza can. The wings are, like all over Western NY, quite good. If you're having a party, ordering a few pies and a lot of wings is never a bad move. In fact, that's the only way I've ever had Mazia's, taken out and eaten at our cousin's house. I don't even know what Mazia's looks like. It could be absolutely adorable inside, and I'm betting they have a brick oven. It started off good with the kind hostess and being seated promptly & given menus, but that was the best of it. After we were seated it took about 5-10 minutes for a waitress to come over to get our drink order. We ordered two waters; I ordered mine with no ice because I don't like it super cold. We also ordered our food; chicken fingers and their famous ranch burger. About five or so minutes more until we got our waters. My cup had a big crack down the side of it & had a slow leak. I was hoping to catch the waitress on the way by to tell her, but she was nowhere to be found, so I just put a napkin under it. We finished our waters in about 10 or minutes and put them at the edge of the table since they were empty. The waitress went by a few times and didn't check on us or ask if we wanted more. Another 15 minutes went by with the cups sitting there and she finally asked if we wanted more water. I told her about my cup and she apologized and brought a new one. We waited around another 20-25 minutes until our food came out, so approximately an hour since we were seated and 50 minutes after we ordered to get our food. It was nice and hot when it came out. The chicken fingers were very small, like the size of two nuggets end to end, but my boyfriend said they at least tasted good. My burger was fine, nothing to write home about, so unsure why it's called their "famous" ranch burger. Just two smallish burgers on a bun with lettuce, tomato, cheese and secret sauce. The fries were good. When we were finished, I asked for a box which never came from the waitress & neither did the bill. After about another 10 minutes another worker noticed me sitting there with my credit card out ready to pay and did bring the bill, so I asked her for the box I needed. My boyfriend used the bathroom and said the ceiling tile that was holding the light was falling out. The ladies room was ok. 2 years ago, my husband and I returned late from a trip, craving the raspberry chicken BBQ pizza. We were starving, and finally came home to find both the crust and chicken well undercooked. My husband called back to report, only to be told there was nothing they were going to do about it. My husband left a bad review and the owner called him to get him to retrieve his statement. We hadn't ordered from Gianni Maria's since...until this evening. He called and a loud beep came through the line and he got disconnected. He made a joke like "what if I'm blacklisted?" He called again and a girl picks up and says "Sorry, we're closed" and then hung up on him. It's 6pm on a Friday night! And my husband heard a crowd in the background. I thought, maybe I should call from my phone? But then I realized it's better I put my money somewhere else and never to give my business to Gianni Mazia's. So we ordered from Pesci's instead. You search and find that Clarence has a gem. They show me my pizza every time before I leave with my take out. The regular pizza and the brick over "hey Tony it's pepperoni" is delish! Service was okay, ambience was a bit crowded, but that's how restaurants go so I could've gone at a different time and it may have been more intimate feeling. The food, it wasn't that great. The fish fry was fairly good, but the fries were soggy and burnt tasting at the same time. My assumption is that the oil is changed as much as it should be and the leftovers give the fries a burnt flavor. The cook has to take them out sooner as they are browning to avoid total burn which makes them soggy. The chicken parm was just okay. The pizza was also just okay, nothing to write home about. Large cheese and pepperoni pizza...WOW! Amazing, one of the best I've had hands down. Sauce was very tasty, sweet but not too sweet with the right amount of cheese and pepperoni on top. And the pepperoni, char and cup style...very nice. Crust wasn't burnt, nice and crunchy, great finish to the slice. Got take out but I can say that the young lady that took our order over the phone was super nice and friendly, must've been the same girl that I picked up from because she was cheerful and friendly. Stopped in on a Monday. They were seating people in the front only, and it was bumping. Every table was full. A few staff came up to us and said it would be just a minute, and they ended up fixing up a table for us in a different section. The entire place is a great ambiance. I was in the mood for soup and salad at a pizza joint. I know, weird. I ordered the chicken noodle soup, which was so good. I would definitely order it again from here. It was very tasty. I also ordered the small chicken Caesar salad. It was a hearty portion and good, but nothing really stood out to me as making it the ultimate Caesar salad. My date ordered a half garlic bread for the table, and we lucked out and a full order came to the table. It looked very delicious and it was, I tried a few bites. A pleasant surprise In Clarence! My friend and I didn't have any plans to dine at this small, family owned, pizzeria. We happened to be in the area, and the bustling , cheery atmosphere surrounding this restaurant caught our eye. Five stars for service: friendly, courteous, and very prompt. Five stars on the mouth watering brick oven pizza. We ordered the spinach brick oven pizza. It looked delicious .Sadly we failed to read! The spinach pizza comes with mushrooms. My friend has a severe allergy to mushrooms. The waitress gladly took back the spinach pizza and put in our order in for a different one. There was no problem and no charge for doing so. Our sweet waitress gladly gave us a new brick oven pizza in exchange for the first one. Excellent customer service. We would certainly go back to try the other items on the menu. The food was good and the portion of eggplant parm was enough for three meals. The iceberg lettuce for the salad came in leaf pieces so big, torn up so haphazardly, it was hard to eat. The wait staff was not attentive--never offered coffee or dessert at the end of the meal. I did not feel particularly welcomed. We were excited to try Gianni Maria's, but left disappointed. The space is tight and loud. The menu is a good size so there is something for just about everyone. We decided to share a small order of garlic bread, an order of chicken Parm, and a meatball sandwich. The pasta was run of the mill, nothing special. Chicken was tender and tasty, honestly the highlight of the meal. The meatballs were good, but the sandwich is served open faced and on a ridiculously thick piece of bread. We ended up forgoing the meh bread and just eating the meatballs. Portion sizes are big but quality seems to lack a little. Our bill was 65$ (including a soft drink and kids drink).
