Located in the Kennedy Space Station, near the docking station, is Orbit Cafe. There are few choices for food on the grounds and an employee told me this cafe has the most options. I chose the Little Caesars super slice. I ordered cheese but received one with pepperoni. No complaints here as I don't have a problem with pepperoni and the pepperoni actually cost about $1 more so I guess I saved a buck. I got a fountain drink, which you get yourself, so you can get refills if you so choose. In all, this cost $13. Some other choices for food are a kids menu, a variety of sandwiches like Cuban and turkey. There are burgers, salads, chicken fingers with fries, etc. For drinks, I think I saw beer and there is bottled juice and water. There are a few desserts/candy options. When you walk in you will see large screens displaying a menu and prices. Walk forward a little more, and you will see touch screens to order and pay (it is cashless FYI). It will print you a receipt with a pick up number for your station (1, 2, or 3 ... right next to each other), and your order number. They will call it out and it doesn't take long at all. Overall, there's nothing super special about the place but hey, it's something to eat and I don't really have any complaints either except that it's very noisy but it is busy and there's a lot of kids and even babies. Their ordering system reminds me that of McDonalds where there's vertical screens where you pick and choose what you want, pay, gather the receipt, and wait for your number to be called. Before walking away, be sure to double check your order with what you're given - I saw several families walk back and forth reclaiming missed items. My order was small and simple of just a chicken sandwich and side salad. There's a condiment station next to the pickup window to which you can also jazz up your sandwich with tomatoes, onion, pickles. The space itself can get pretty loud and hectic but there's a side area that's more quiet and introvert-friendly. The state of the tables are a hit or a miss, some parts of the restaurant looked like a mess or tornado came through with brown smears + stains all over the floor or chairs (eek). My biggest complaint is you have no way of knowing how long your order will take so people were waiting for 30 mins and cancelled their orders and asked for refunds. Orbit Cafe is on of the few choices you have for an eatery at Kennedy Space Center. On my visit the line for ordering wasn't too long, but there were plenty of people waiting on their food to be ready. There are signs up suggesting you skip the line and use their app to mobile order, so with the limited cell signal I had, I downloaded the app, ordered food, but when it came to pay the app just kept having an error and could not pay, so I wound up getting in the short line to order from the kiosk. Ordering was pretty straight forward, similar to ordering at a McDonald's or other fast food establishments that have these order kiosks. While it took less than a minute to order and pay for the food, it took about another 15 minutes to stand in line with many other patrons waiting for my number to be called. Finally when seated and eating I was pleasantly surprised at how good my chicken strips actually were. Other than the wait for the food, and the fact that none of the plastic utensil despensers worked, the experience was very pleasant. An hour after placing our mobile order, still no food. Repeated requests for help got us nowhere. When we asked for a refund we were told to go back to front ticket office. Your assigned counter number is printed on the receipt. I did not see an option to order with an actual person, so that would be an issue for those who cannot or do not want to use the kiosk. People were shouting order numbers as they came out, over a crowd of hungry, tired tourists that are only there for themselves. We mostly cleaned our plates and if we had been at Disney the cost would have been double! So yeah, we were over the moon! If you are going to be overly critical, then go hungry and be a snob. We had a terrible experience at Orbit Cafe, from start to not even able to finish. First, the food: we ordered 1 burger, 1 cheeseburger, 1 pulled pork sandwich. The burgers were just a patty in a bun, without any tomato or lettuce. My cheeseburger did not have cheese. The meat was overcooked and dry, and salty to a point that if we had not been starving, I would have left it untouched. The pulled pork was dry and bland. The fries were decent. Second, placing an order is just a nightmare. You are encouraged to skip the line by ordering online, but the payment did not go through with Apple pay despite several attempts. By the time I was about to reach the screens to place my order, the payment with a credit card finally worked, woot! The lines were crazy long, with many schools visiting KSC on a Friday. If you are sensitive to noise, don't go there, the decibel level was through the roof. After painfully placing our order, we waited and waited for our number to appear on the pick up screen. Nothing for a solid 30 mn. It was really hard to catch any staff to help out as customers were standing everywhere, waiting for their food. The wait gave us time to appreciate how dirty the cafeteria was, with no one wiping the tables between customers, and trash left on the tables. There aren't many choices when going to Kennedy Space Center for lunch, so we tried here. We ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers, a hamburger and a beyond burger. The cheeseburgers were salty and mediocre. Amazing how life can surprise you in the most unexpected ways. We visited Kennedy Space Center on 1/3/2020. At lunch we walked into the cafe expecting your standard touristy, and mediocre, food selections. What I found instead was one of the biggest gastronomic surprises of my life. To put it simply I had one of the best burgers of my entire life. I ordered the double burger with the works, cheese, sautéed onions, and apple bacon. I found it to be phenomenal. It was cooked through and just oh so slightly charred around the edges. I don't know if I just got lucky but my son had the chicken tenders and wife had the Spinach salad. They simple plates were also great. I looked around and found that everyone I could see in my immediate area also seemed to be enjoying their food. I paid less than $14 for this burger and have paid a lot more for burgers which were not 1/2 as good. I'm not sure if KSC has done anything special or if they're just a best kept local secret. We got mostly burgers and fries, a couple of chicken sandwiches, and even a baked potato and some salads. This is my go to spot at KSC for lunch. It gets super busy since there are only a few lunch spots so it's all about timing. Even if it is crowded, the line moves quickly due to the multiple kiosks they have to order on. There is also one person running a register. I believe that was for students on a Field trip that we're using their admission tickets to pay. I ordered the chicken tender meal with fries and a soda. The chicken tenders are juicy and plump and the fries were hot and crispy. My guest opted for a salad with fruit and poppyseed dressing and she liked it as well. We also enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies. They were crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside. My fave! There is seating both indoors and outdoors. The Orbit Cafe offers a pretty nice selection of meals to choose from. They have electronic ordering at available kiosks, or you can also order with a live human at a manned register. The menu has made to order salads, soups, a variety of wraps, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, pizza and french fries. There was something for every kind of appetite including seasonal desserts like Key Lime Pie and Berry Shortcake. For being a theme park style cafe, the food was satisfactory and prices reasonable. By the looks of other reviewers opinions, they either loved it or hated it here. I thought it was in between, far from gourmet, but fulfills the comfort food category well. I was impressed that they grow their own herbs and greens in hydroponic gardens on the premises. So the salads are guaranteed organic and fresh. The dining area is large and spacious, so finding a place to sit worked out well for us even though it was very busy. But because they are so busy, finding a clean, vacant table took up a little more of our time. Dined here December 27, 2019. You order at the kiosk, are given a number and when your number appears, you pick up your food. This is the BEST deal seen at any tourist attraction. 4 chicken fingers with fries for $6.99! The chicken fingers were actually a decent size, and the meal was good. Also, KSC has change machines that provide you 2 free pennies. Their wristbands are also cool in the sense that there is no tab that gets removed. They just bend the tab back so when you need to remove the band, you just peel it off and put the tab part back on. Brilliant! read more
