Husband and I got the bean Burger and La Bamba Burger and shared a large fry. The burgers were fresh, and easily rivaled Chris Madrid's. We tried the homemade spicy ketchup, which had a subtle kick and went well with the fries. Tacos are great, too and remind me of Mexico street tacos. I also love the simple logo of the restaurant. Wagyu hamburger was excellent. Had the Beanburger with grilled serranos & jalapeños, and paid an extra dollar for wagyu beef. For about $8, this is a great deal for quality beef - I highly recommend it! It was delicious, one of the better burgers I've had in S.A. My wife had a regular burger with jack cheese on a gluten-free bun, she really enjoyed hers as well. Ordered some chips and queso, but the chips were glistening with oil and we couldn't stomach them. The queso had a nice thick consistency, but the flavor was unremarkable, not much fire. Went back to order some fries for my wife instead, and she liked those; nice to have serrano ketchup for dipping. The Austin-brewed Maine Root lemonade with prickly pear fruit was a tasty alternative to the boring array of drinks typically found at most places. read more

Lordy, this place is the bomb. I had a chorizo, pineapple and cheese taco on a wheat tortilla. Daughter had bbq chicken pizza. Both were unbelievably tasty. The chips we're warm and perfectly salted. Fried fresh!!! And yummy queso too. And their choc chip cookies were gourmet...thick, chewy, melt in your mouth and tons of chips. They also have beer, slushy alcoholic drinks and wine. I've been going here ever since I started going to my university here and I have never been disappointed. The tacos are fantastic (though I wish they weren't so greasy sometimes) and filling, and I do like the fact that they have a simple menu (three basic items) that can be modified with tons of ingredients to fit your desires. The pizza is also very good with a nice, thin crust. I absolutely love that they have fresh mint to go with your iced tea; that is always a plus in my book. I really wanted to like this place. I love places that encourage me to customize my order, because I always do anyway. My husband and I split a veggie burger, veggie pizza (garlic, sun dried tomato and onions), and some cheese fries. Now, the burger was ok. The pizza itself was ok, even though it would have been better with grilled onions and about 1/2 as much garlic. The cheese fries though.... hmmmm.... it was a small handful of fries with more than a cup greasy cheddar cheese melted on top, which meant you had to try to pry the fries off the paper. I'm sure some people would love that, but I was expecting a little cheese with my fries, not the other way around. I was so hopeful about this place, oh well. read more

I like this place. I've been to both locations and have to say I like the stone oak locatin better food is still great at both though. I like the variety of food they have. I had the all american cheeseburger and it was great, very good greasy burger!!! Fries are delicious. My hubby had the BBQ chicken pizza and was not that impressed. I did not try his pizza not a fan of BBQ on pizza myself. I have to say though that I was disappointed when I went to the bathroom it was very dirty, that I could not even go. No. Won't be back. Spent $30 for three people and one of those people is 3. His grilled cheese was super greasy I had to sop up the grease with napkins...$6 bucks?!?!. My pulled pork burger was insanely salty. Husbands three amigos was sloppy. All three of our meals came on one small metal tray so we had to lay down a bunch of napkins just to eat our food on the table. Got just the regular fries which were not crispy at all. We had never heard of OderUp and bought a Groupon on a whim. So happy we did! Gluten free options of both GF bun and "protein-style" lettuce wrap to start (happy day for my husband) and the burgers themselves were delicious. Lots of options were a little overwhelming at first, but just made us want to go back the next day to try out more! Bean burger, Ceasar fries and a chocolate chip cookie. That's all you ever need to get here. I'm sure the other stuff is delicious (and I'll admit, I've had other delicious stuff here)....but the bean burger has to be the best thing on the menu. Most people likely recoil when they hear bean burger. In fact, I think in every other city in the Universe, a bean burger is a dry little patty made out of dry little legumes that crumble with each reluctant bite. Not so in San Antonio. In San Antonio, bean burgers are the full-beef goodness that is a burger, but with seasoned refried beans smeared on it...along with super crispy fried tortillas. The burgers are made with local Waygu beef (think famous Kobe Beef, but from Texas rather than Kobe, Japan). PRO TIP: Don't try to get this to go, unless you've had it fresh first. To go burgers from here are amazing, don't get me wrong. But they don't have that same crunch. The Ceasar fries are great. The cookies are heaven, if heaven were a thick, chewy, delicious cookie. The food is really tasty. It seems very fresh, and freshly made. The flavors meld well and the portions are solid. The service on this visit however was pretty shaky. My order was filled wrong - though what I ended up getting was delicious - and then my other item was forgotten in the kitchen. There is never a line and that confuses me because this place is awesome and it is truly worth every penny and I can not think of many places like that!! I've been here several times before and have enjoyed the casual vibe, freshly-prepared items, and the varied menu. Not today. Huevos Rancheros is a staple in this part of the country. Here is their recipe for a failing grade in preparation of this regional favorite: 1. Start with an aluminum plate. 2. Lay some waxy paper festooned with information and logos in red ink(normally used to wrap your french fries or burger) over the plate. 3. Drop some cold and greasy little brown strips that look like re-fried skinny fries from Tuesday night onto the wax paper covering the metal plate. 4. Add some tepid and tasteless re-fried pintos beans that are partially "skinned over" from sitting in the warming tray. 5. Cook one egg "over medium" and the other crispy brown on the edges. 6. For the Ranchero Sauce, put a generous amount of frigid and watery red salsa in a cup that, after lightly spooning two tablespoons over the eggs, causes the paper to come apart. The chilled paper/eggs/sauce mixture then becomes "alphabet slop" atop the hubcap from hell. 7. Charge six dollars for this and then give me a stiff, thin, and chewy tortilla to finish off the experience. The two stars are for previous visits. read more

I've been stopping in every few weeks for a year or so for fish tacos to go. Great tacos and good value lunch for the area--about $5 for 2 and a 3rd for another buck or so. If really hungry, also some chips and (very good) green salsa...about $10 all in. Called in my order today and was greeted with a bill north of $15 at pickup. Their explanation: more fish on the tacos. My take: an unneeded 2nd tortilla on each taco (thanks Torchy's, but no thanks) and maybe marginally more fish. For my taste, the proportion of fish, tortilla, cabbage and spicy mayo was perfect before the change. And unfortunately they jumped out of what I would call value range. Disappointing. Truthfully I had previously never bothered to go into this place as I have a pretty healthy diet. When I saw the sign that said "pizza, burgers and tacos" I didn't even think twice about not going in. Until one day my boyfriend wanted to go to torchies tacos across the street. Maybe I'm weird but I think torchies is completely overrated so I decided to try order up. I was pleasantly surprised. They have gluten free options for just about everything. Actually the whole theme of the restaurant is about giving the customer options. They have vegetarian options, plenty of different sauces, sodas, slushes, smoothies, juices, shakes. I mean the list goes on. I ordered the portabello mushroom veggie burger with chipotle mayo, a fried egg, black beans and a tortilla chip on top. It sounds disgusting but it's fantastic. I even ordered a smoothie made with coconut milk yogurt instead of dairy because I'm lactose intolerant. Finally!!! read more

She seemed pretty busy so I said very kindly, no worries I can grab it myself. She continues to stare at me and then replies "really I would LOVE to see you grab it yourself." So we walk to the cookies as I suddenly realize that the cookies are covered with glass. A rookie mistake on my part. I apologize for my misunderstanding as she continues to glare me down and passive aggressively hand me my cookie. I was trying to BE NICE AND I GOT THIS SAVAGE. So sorry they got rid of their veggie burger which was one of the best in Alamo Heights, I thought. When I wanted a "burger," Order Up was my choice for that good old fashioned taste without the beef. The meat substitute now is a portobello mushroom that was tough and chewy. The menu serves it as a bean burger. I had to pull the mushroom out and eat the burger as is. The fries are still good! This order was to go so I wasn't aware of the all menu changes. I prefer the old menu. By comparison, EZ's sticks to the old menu, but brings out specials or tests new items on customers before they add it to the menu. read more

I have drove past this place many times so finally decided to try it out. I got a vegetarian taco and a chicken taco. Both served on a very bland, store bought flour tortilla. None of the 4 burgers were correct. None of the staff acknowledged they had received my order upon arrival.
