My friend and I decided to stop by for some dinner on a Friday evening. They were not busy around 5:30pm but quickly got busy shortly after. We were seated on their outdoor patio and really liked the ambiance. To share, we ordered the fries which were your standard french fries. They were served nice and fresh and served crispy with ketchup. We also tried the sampler dip dish which was a great appetizer to share and a great item if you want to try a variety of items. We also ordered the bourekas. These were interesting and pretty good overall. The mushroom one wasn't my favorite but I like the potato one. I believe the other one was filled with cheese. They also have a happy hour until 6pm which is a great deal so I highly recommend ordering off of the happy hour menu if you can. Their food was pretty good and I really like the vibe here. Last year I had my Daughter's Wedding Shower here. We had 30 guests. Everyone loved the food drinks and service. We came for lunch today. We will not be back. We ordered the Shashuka. The listed price was $18.00. The waiter brought a "complimentary " coleslaw. I placed my order. The waiter said, there will be an extra $2.00 for the eggs because of the prices for eggs and an extra $2.00 because tomatoes are out of season and the can tomatoes cost more. A tasty Mediterranean spot tucked into the corner of a popular Cupertino complex. They are currently doing takeout and it was pretty easy to order with masks and grab from in-store. It can get a bit busy, so you'd be best served to order ahead and come pick it up. The hummus here is... SO. GOOD. I feel like hummus is one of those things that I usually buy at a grocery store but this fresh one is amazing. The hummus is great as an appetizer but also as a whole meal with the pita! TLDR; If you love hummus, you'll Oren's Hummus! My friend and I stopped by last night for dinner and there was no wait. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating was available. They sanitize tables between every party, and there's even a disposable table cover on every table to make you feel safe (or clean if you're a messy eater like I am). The server was very attentive without being pushy, and was an absolute delight to talk to! I wish I had gotten his name, but clearly they train all their servers right! Hummus mushrooms (4/5) - the hummus was delicious, but the mushrooms on top really added nothing to the dish. I'd suggest ordering the classic instead for a similar taste, otherwise order something more fun like the hummus beef or hummus eggplant. The pita bread it came with was DELICIOUS. I'd like to buy a bag of the pita please, thank you. Rice bowl with falafel (3.5/5) - the tomato rice this comes with, outstanding 55. The falafel, I've had better (but I've also had worse). I had the falafel, eggplant purée, jafa style humus. The falafel was good but it was cold, the eggplant has more of a tomato taste than eggplant and it was also cold, and the humus was good but could have used more seasoning. I was really hopping to love the gluten free pita, it was good but had an interesting after taste. The French fries weren't crispy or seasoned. The friend cauliflower were also not crispy and pretty greasy and not seasoned. The mint lemonade was delicious, might have been my favorite thing of the night. I feel like this is what hummus should taste like! Yummy! As for service, this establishment has 2 parts: a dine-in restaurant and a deli counter with counter service. I went to the counter service side, but no one was there. While the wait for service gave me time to decide what to order, it still took several minutes after looking over the menu before someone came to the counter to take my order. Food: Ordered chicken skewers, roasted cauliflower, sweet potato fries and hummus with pita. The hummus and pita stole the show! The chicken skewers were ok. This is an excellent location. It's cozy and relaxing with the comfy seating and cold AC. The food here tasted great and is just like all the other Oren's locations. Their service is good here as well. I recommend ordering their Jaffa Humus with Moroccan meat. This one has lots of flavor and pairs the best with white pita. He lives in San Diego and whenever he's in the Bay Area he makes sure to get the Hummus. While I share his high opinion of the hummus, I and the rest of my family felt the rest of the meal was downhill. Maybe their style of falafel is just different but I found the falafel small, dry, hard and flavorless. (My idea of great falafel is Dish n Dash's). Orens Hummus has a posh ambiance and a nicely arrayed medditteran menu. As the name would suggest I highly recommend the hummus because the combinations are unique and flavor is consistent. This last time I dined in I had the rice bowl with beef kebab. The kebabs are juicy and well seasoned but the rice was a little undercooked and overall flavor was slightly lacking. The hot sauce they offer on the side was truly hot so keep that in mind (: The service was very friendly and attentive to the needs of our table. I have been to this place a couple times but this time we decided to try a couple dishes that were not the usual. The eggplant hummus was a little less spicier than I would have wanted it to be. The braise lamb hummus was devouring where there was a mix of sweet but spicy flavor and the meat was cooked fully through. We also got a side of Israeli wine which was my first time trying it and the aftertaste was a bit too string for my liking. Finally we got the baklava for dessert. Unfortunately, it was a bit stale however the mix of fresh pistachios and sweet were a good combination. I love this location and of course, the food. We've always come here for some good Mediterranean! However, our recent visit and service were unpleasant. The server was taking so many orders, I always have to ask for her. Second, the fruit flies... bug.... There were few at first when we seated in the corner. All our members at least caught one or two.... But they still come back. The server said, it just a fruit fly. YES, we do know. But what does it mean???? Can we eat them? Is it ok for the fruit flies to sit on our food?? Oh man... once our meals arrives, the fruit flies everywhere. At one point, I think I ate one of them. Also one went inside my nose. It was horrible. About three or four flies were sitting on my dad's shirt..... Meanwhile, the food was so good... we just tried to finish the meal without a dessert and rush to get out. I am not sure. Oren's Hummus located on Stevens Creek Blvd in Cupertino opened roughly 3 years ago and I just got around to giving them a shot last month. Parking can be hit or miss depending on when you decide to swing by. Our group shared just a few dishes for a light lunch. We tried the Eggplant Hummus and the Rice Bowl(Chicken). The hummus here is fantastic and I would come back just for this. We ordered plenty of pita, which was fresh, chewy but not overly, and freshly warmed for us. I was hoping to be as gentle as possible and why I didn't initially give details in the previous review, but since you have asked me to email you, I would rather not email directly in hopes to keep transparency about these reviews and show how honest and real these reviews really are. What happened was that the meal was great and we were so excited to finally dine outside. About 10 minutes into the meal, the water server was refilling our water with the communal water jug and the tip of the spout was directly touching each of our glasses, then he went on to the next table and did the same. I didn't expect to have a vegetarian lunch, but these things happen sometimes. Oren's Hummus is a local chain of restaurants featuring Israeli cuisine. They opened up their outpost-which-I-find-most-geographically-convenient at the mixed-use Main Street Cupertino complex around Stevens Creek and Wolfe a few years ago, but it wasn't until my cousin reached out to me about lunch that I finally decided to try it. Christmas Eve peak lunch was brisk but not prohibitively crowded. Plus, we arrived well before then because I wanted to shoot for their 11am opening. The lofty interior was mostly welcoming aside from an annoying flickering light where my cousin initially sat; fortunately, we were able to move to a different table. A complimentary slaw (with potentially unlimited refills) was provided at meal's start. With a delicious dressing and crispy texture, it functions well on its own or as an accompaniment for pretty much anything which you can order. They also provide two sauces at tableside; be forewarned that the green sauce is actually the insanely spicy condiment, whereas the red sauce is mild at worst. As for anything with a price on it, we started with the Traditional Shakshuka ($14.00), a traditional dish which I'd learned about from TV but which I hadn't tried until today. The tomatoes provided such a level of umami and sweetness that I could hardly stop myself from eating the shakshuka. Although the poached eggs were slightly overcooked relative to the "over medium" listing, I appreciated their richness. The whole wheat pita ($0.85 for an extra, but don't do this unless your marathon is tomorrow) was appropriate for soaking up the aforementioned flavors, but ended up being distracting when used with other dishes. We proceeded to sample some of their Bourekas ($2 each, or $10 for 6). The flaky exterior was great, but the interior of the dough was soft or even mushy. These are not the paragon of savory pastries. As for the fillings, the mushroom boureka was the most delicious. Although the cheese sounded enticing, it was not as gooey or appropriately colored to stand out visually. I did not sample the potato variant. We closed out the meal with a medley of three items from the "Dips & Sides" section of the menu ($13.00 for 3, or slightly less cost-efficient for smaller quantities). The Falafel Side, which my cousin had initially suggested, was indeed the star of the "sampler" (not to be confused with the combination of 6 asterisked menu items). The crispy exterior was amazing and didn't weaken over time, and the interior was awesome. It was as deliciously herbed and seasoned as any falafel which I've had, and it was finely pureed yet not mushy. The dips were no slouch either, and each of these come out with a pita (giving us the opportunity to try the white flour pita, which was similarly enjoyable but lacking in addictiveness compared to the wheat). The namesake Oren's Eggplant did come out as a pureed ice cream scoop, but it tasted fresh. I'm convinced that the bitter roasty character wasn't from the eggplant, but from a substitution of shallots for the listed onions, but I enoyed it anyway. The Hummus Classic had intense chickpea flavor which should have been smoothed out by the olive oil if we'd bothered to hand-mix the hummus; I'd definitely be enthused to order a hummus bowl in the future if I feel that I should deal with my carnivorous cravings. With my stomach limitations forcing me to ask for to-go containers, that indeed was the end of the vegetarian (no, not vegan; screw that) meal. I'd definitely love to return to Oren's to explore the rest of the menu as well as to see how they handle animal proteins. Maybe I'll take my mom there next time! read more

There are multiple other reviews about how horrible the host/manager is at this restaurant, but clearly no action has been taken. The woman was rude the minute we walked in, and we had done nothing to her. At one point during the meal I walked away to use the restroom and my food was mistakenly taken away. I rushed to my server and asked if I could grab it back, but it was too late. The server kindly comes back and says that they had put in another order in for me as a replacement, which I didn't ask for, but was very nice. Then the host/manager comes by and says, "this was your mistake but we are going to make you another one. You can at least say thank you". HUUHHHHHHHH What is your problem?! Why are you in customer service?! I walked out because I want nothing from that horrible person. And I will never go back to this restaurant while she is still employed there. read more

I tried the Oren's Hummus in Cupertino this past weekend. I've been to the Mountain View location before, and I'd say the Cupertino one is much larger and nicer. They have a huge indoor seating area and separate area inside for grab and go. I brought my dog, so we ended up eating on the small side patio. The hummus here always hits. I'm sensitive to garlic, and love their hummus because they don't add a ton (or any maybe...) garlic to it. The cauliflower hummus is delicious. It comes with cooked cauliflower, nuts for a bit of crunch, and golden raisins for some sweetness. Such a great combo! The pita bread was warm and fluffy. I got both hummus dips (I prefer the looser classic one, taste seems same, just texture different although the pine nuts were yummy) plus the cabbage dish is complementary. This was my first time here, and WOW, it was delicious. The classic hummus and pita were to die for -- the hummus was creamy and full of flavor, and the pita was soft and had a great texture. Probably the best pita & hummus combo I've had. The shakshuka was nice, although not the star of the show, and the chicken pita sandwich was surprisingly good. Lots of moisture in it, which I didn't expect, but it was great. We also ordered the fries, which were nice, but again, nothing compares to that hummus and pita combo. Also, we sat outside and the ambiance was wonderful! There were very few people seated when we arrived at about 12:30 on a Sunday, but a few more folks were seated throughout the course of our meal. Our server was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and made us laugh with each interaction. Everything we tried was really good and we were stuffed after our meal. I was hankering for meat so got the beef kebab, which is a beef/lamb mix. It was flavorful and perfect with the eggplant babaganoush. The falafel was slightly dry in my opinion but nothing to complain about and still good with the sauce and dip. Cupertino, CA Between a 3.5 to 4 star for this location versus Palo Alto. Having only visited the Palo Alto store, a quick to go pick up was fairly convenient albeit in a very congested shopping center. We ordered a few : 3 stars Falafel sandwiches to go/with a slight change they would be 5 stars: They were packed and wrapped beautifully with hot sauces condiments in each box, BUT 3/4 of the top of the sandwich was chopped small cubes of tomato and cucumber tossed in a light/mayo consistency tahini. We had to eat through 3/4 of the sandwich with just cucumber and tomato before even getting to the falafel. This is so different from any other falafel sandwich we've tried at other spots. The falafels were at the very bottom of the round shaped stuffed pita which was tearing as we were eating through it. This made for a slightly unappetizing and unenjoyable lunch until we got down to the falafel at the very bottom. I called to suggest maybe they offer cabbage salad in the pita instead of the cubed veggie mix and they agreed and said that could be done on request for future orders. Their house cabbage salad is delicious, and if placed in the pita dry (with the liquid drained) this would make the falafel sandwich taste much better. 4 stars Original Hummus I don't remember the Original Hummus being so bland and thick. We ordered a 16 ounce but we have ordered the 8 ounce containers to go from the Palo Alto store and always loved it. The original is great for someone who does not want a lot of garlic aftertaste. Go for the Jaffa hummus if you want more flavor, next time we will order the Jaffa. I think the best thing about this place is the music! My niece and I came here for lunch and we couldn't stop dancing and bobbing our heads to the music. It really made the experience much better! I feel like the food was okay to me. I do liked the complimentary pickled salad that they gave out. That was very yummy! I got the rice bowl and it was a lot of food. I couldn't finish if and had to pack it up. It was flavorful but it was just rice and chicken so nothing too special. The sauces they had on the side was good!
