We have been going to Orient for the past 15 years. It was consistent and close. However, on my recent visit there was an odor of bad seafood. When I opened my order of steamed dumplings they smelled bad, tasted a corner to make sure it wasn't a seasoning...they were bad. No sauce for moo shu chicken. We like this place because it's one of the few where you can get Wor Wonton Soup, where you get tons of veggies, chicken, shrimp, beef, and pork besides just the broth and wontons. The noodle dishes here are consistently good, too. My only wish is they'd turn the damn TV off. They've even got the sound from the TV coming out of the speakers in the ceiling, and they seem to think that everyone wants to sit facing the big screen while CNN plays and people argue over gun control. I mean, I even agreed with half of what was being said but it still annoyed the piss out of me. Just turn it off. Cable news is inane on a good day and it doesn't add anything to the dining experience. I'd rather be able to listen to what my wife has to say than listen to two people bicker on TV. read more

One of my favorite chinese restaurants. Not a buffet, which automatically puts it above the rest. I will traditionaly get the kung pao chicken or KP chcken and shrimp or General Tsao's chicken. Each of these are an excellent choice full of flavor and not bland as I find at many chinese restaurants. My family usually gets the Sesame chicken which is also good. Their spring rolls are the best around, they have the thin flaky shell which makes them excellent and they taste like they are freshly made. Versus the other style which is the thick chewy almost batter like type of shell which taste like they were frozen and come from a food distribution company. I was able to get 4 lunches, including drinks, an extra soup and extra order of spring rolls for my young family of 6 for around $30. Came for a quick lunch as I work near the area. I got seated right away. I ordered a lunch special of chicken and broccoli. The spring rolls were very fresh and tasty but that's where it ended, unfortunately. My food was brought out fast but my first bite tasted of rubbing alcohol. Ewww. The second and consecutive bites tasted like nothing. The rice had no flavor either. While the spring rolls were tasty, that's not enough for me to return. Visited last night for a meal. The restaurant was clean and presentable. The tv playing the news was a bit of a distraction though. Surely people can have a meal together without having a tv blaring in the background. That really took away from our experience. The food was excellent though. We had wonton soup, egg drop soup, general tso chicken, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, cashew chicken, and moo goo gai pan. All was excellent. This is our go-to for Chinese takeout in MO City. They are fast, dependable and have been around for a long while. We always call 10 minutes ahead, order our trusty mongolian beef, Cashew chicken and House Fried rice. The food is consistent and tasty, and the prices are reasonable. If you dine-in, the decor might confuse you, since it's all James Dean era images, but hey, the food still tastes the same. I thought the food was delicious. My mother ordered the sweet and sour chicken and I ordered the Treasure chicken. My only complaint was the raw and flavorless peanuts they tossed on top. The wonton soup was delicious and the portions were pretty big for lunch special prices. Very quiet and a bit warm inside but better than being outside. The place looks nice: It's well kept, modern, and seemed pretty clean to me. At dinner the dishes are about $10 a person. We had the Orange Beef and the Shrimp & Scallops with garlic. Both dishes were pretty good, but neither really wowed me. The service was attentive, so no complaints there. This is my first time here and the food is great and authentic but oh boy service sucks. Waitress never came by to check in so see how the food was or if I needed refills. The only time she made eye contact with me was when I waved at her asking for my check. She was on her wireless headset talking on the phone in her own language. Yeah, I hate giving a restaurant I have been frequenting since childhood a bad review, but yesterday was a mess. Of course, I usually get them to deliver or order to go. Yesterday was no different. Not the most friendly demeanored folks, I ordered vegetable fried rice, mixed vegetables, and fried vegetable dumplings. They were good except one big problem. When I ordered, I told the waiter that I was vegan. Yes, I should have told him I would prefer my vegetable fried rice without eggs, but it somehow slipped my mind. A mistake not to be made. I wound up picking the eggs from my dish prior to eating it. Tough, but you gotta' do what you gotta' do. This is not my biggest complaint. When I walk in, there is a lady sitting, waiting for her food. She is sitting for at least 15 minutes by the time she leaves. After that same amount of time, having gone to the restroom and come back to order, I sit a chair over from her in the "To go" section. After reading a paper I brought in, I look over and tell her that I hope her day is going well. She responds, "It hasn't because they're taking so long to bring out my food." A few moments after she says this, another gentleman behind the register tells her that her food is ready. It was sitting behind the counter the whole time! She walked up to the front counter and asks him, "How long did you have it just sitting there?" Of course, he gives her a blank stare. Yeah, this was not a great impression to leave for even someone such as myself who has come here forever. My food came out about a minute later, and I left. Of course, this review is not to say don't come here. This review is to say OC needs to get their act together when it comes to customer service. Disappointing. After reading the reviews, I was a bit mixed but a lot of people had good things to say so I figured, why not give them a try. Unfortunately, this is some of the worst Chinese food I have had to date. The General Tso Chicken was soggy, the breading which should have been crisp was mushy, it was heavily breaded, the sauce had a nice thickness to it but didn't have a good flavor, and the chicken was questionable...overall, just a bad dish. The other dish ordered was the Hunan Combination which was a great improvement over the General Tso Chicken but still not very flavorful.
