Should not have expected too much but was still a let down. The ceiling was corroded and full of water spots, missing a panel, the tables weren't sanitized and only 3 tables had sauces. Ordered the beef ramen and it was not good at all. Same ramen noodles you could make at home. Overall the service was decent but the experience has left me very unsatisfied especially for the price. read more

Chinese food is fresh. So yummy. Our favorite is the sweet and sour chicken and chow mein noodles. Super fast, very friendly.

The food was delivered fast, and they are open late which is a plus, but the food is terrible. We ordered veggie fried rice that taste old and was extremely saturated is some type of brown sauce (I'm assuming they tried to freshen up old rice.) We also ordered veggie chow mein which was greasy and flavorless. To top the experience off our appetizer of fries wontons were undercooked so much that they we're so soft that flimsy and bendable, no crispness what so ever. Will never eat here again! read more

Oriental Express is the kind of place, in a small town, that you play " Ernie, Meanie, Miney, Mo", when you're absolutely desperate and starving. The food is a throwback to the old school Chinese food that is mostly heavy handed and goopy. Lots and lots of noodles and very little meat or vegetables. Best bet is simple fried rice. This officially became my go-to and to-go Chinese food establishment in the Redding area. It's worth the 10 mile drive and has easy freeway access. Dinner for one can easily feed 2 people at an affordable price. I throughly enjoyed the Mongolian Beef. Since moving here a year ago, we've reluctantly decided to try the local places, with great hesitation out of fear of explosive diarrhea. But oriental express is really just awesome. Great little hole in the wall! Do not let the look of the building fool you. Yes it is attached to the back of a gas station! We got the wor wonton soup (excellent & fresh tasting); Hong Kong noodles (also good & not overly sauced); shrimp fried rice combo (this container was packed full and the food was delish and not greasy). The place is a little hard to find because it's hiding on the other side of the Valero gas station but this place is quality and value all in one. We're visiting Bethel from SoCal so coming from a place where we can get some of the best Chinese food this is saying a lot! We were very happy with the take-out! read more

First impression, parking lot needs to be swept and windows really dirty. Our server was abrubt. Reasonable prices. Food was decent but everything was served on paper, plastic or styrofoam. Server never asked if everything was okay or if we would like drink refills. We are not likely to return. read more

Food tastes good, but styrofoam plates are not my idea of lunch. Order just one dish, something you really like, as the portions are enormous, unless you request the smaller version. This places does 90% take out because its the closest chinese food for Lake Shasta skiiers and houseboaters. That's why they have the highest rating for chinese food in the Redding area, something that more appropriately belongs to Chu's inside the Redding Airport. The employees are hard workers and did their best to accomodate gluten free needs for one of us and egg-free for another. This place is recommended by Motel 6 in twin view Blvd. where we stayed on our way from Oregon to San Francisco. We got the menu from motel front desk, and ordered combo A&B for delivery. We started with the Crabmeat Cheese Wontons. We loved them. I ordered the Mongolian Beef combo, for my sides I choose fried rice and chicken chow mein. SO much chow mein. My husband ordered the Chow Mein combo(an even larger portion of chow mein.) For his sides he choose fried rice and sweet and sour chicken(I have only had Oriental Express once a couple days before, but someone at work ordered it from the Anderson location. If this place was a movie, it be Grease. I've ate here a handful of times (trying to give it the benefit of the doubt) and everytime I'm left disappointed. They do give you plenty of food, which I feel is maybe why people don't complain as much... but I perfer quality over quantity anyday, so here I am. The eggrolls, and potstickers are 100% store bought, and most of the food is flavorless. I am ALREADY feeling sick. If you want some decent chinese food try Lim's Cafe, and Panda South. read more
