I was recommended this place by a friend of mine. Though the staff and the owner was nice I was not happy with the work. My original pant has split and I asked him to keep the split. The split was there but it was done differently then the original. When asked he told me that he can't copy the same split. I think he should have told me that at the time when I dropped off the pant. Also the finishing of the split was done poorly with loose threads. See the pictures. If you are a professional then whatever you do your work should look clean and in my opinion it didn't show. After seeing the pictures you can judge it yourself. read more

This place has gotten worse. They quoted me a price for alterations. After I left store, they called and said they forgot to add price for sleeves and that they will charge an extra $25 when I pick up my item. Horrible! A final quote should be final. I am so happy I found this place in Lake Forest - the prices to hem basic hems start at $4.95 for pants etc . I am so happy to finally find a really nice - clean - beautiful place that only focuses on alterations that is really clean and looks like a fine designer store inside - yet the prices are fantastic and the work is great . I bought a pair of shorts from N Rack that has holes in front but the white tape came out after the first wash - I really didn't like wearing the shorts with my upper legs showing as much so I didn't wear until I needed my new jeans I bought hemmed . Luckily I found this place and brought both my jeans and my shorts in and all in all - $16.95 total for me to wear my new shorts and my new jeans I am a happy camper , I could have paid more for one pair of jeans to be hemmed some where else . This place is really busy yet, they welcome every customer and have plenty of dressing rooms available for you to put your clothes on should you need to get measured , and a few clerks working . When I picked up my clothes only a couple days later they looked great , hung on hangers and pressed , my shorts looked perfect the patch work was spot on . My jeans hem perfect . I will definitely tell all my friends about this great place and thank you all for keeping your prices affordable for everyone as I saw a lot of happy people bringing lots of clothes to you all ! I highly recommend them! Extremely fast and efficient! Last minute invite to Oscar event required buying a new black suit and getting the pants taken in. This tailor USED to be terrific... But things have changed, When I first moved to this area just under four years ago, a simple hem cost $2.00 and it would be ready the next day. Then the price went up to $5.00 s gem. Then they started to tell me reasons why a simple hem was no longer dimple but very complicated and never honored the $5.00 price. Today they just quoted be $12.00 for a hem repair on a dress- a hem that had come loose in a spot.sbd, the dress won't be ready for five days... No longer do they provide good, prompt service at a reasonable cost- time to look for another alteration business. Not many businesses have gone up $600% in the last four years - for slower service. I am very disappointed. They don't post their prices/ it seems like their employees just pick a number out of the sky when they quote a price- with no reason to support it. I have given them alot of business over the last many years but it seems greed will come between them and me. I used to refer many people here- but no more.... read more

Took me longer to change in and out of my long, lined, formal dress than it took Taleen to identify the right hem length and mark it. Walked in, hem marked, paid, walked out in about 15 minutes. RIP OFF!!! Do NOT use this place unless you like getting ripped off. I took 2 dresses there and one they charged me $70 due to it being lined. Ok fine whatever. But then they wanted to charge me $250 just to hem another dress. Yes it was full and had 3 layers. However one was netting that you just cut. Then $85 to shorten the spaghetti straps and another $85 to close the front of the dress. That's $420 for alterations. Way more then I even spent on the dress. They're acting like I brought a wedding dress that they had to take off appliqués and make alterations. My mom is a seamstress so I understand the work needed and $250 for 2 layers to be hemmed is ridiculous!! They said because the beading on one layer breaks their needles. I don't think the cost of needles equals $250. I moved so didn't want to have to go an hour away to my alterations guy but I took it to him and he's only charging me $150 for everything. That hour drive saved me $270 so it was worth it. Ok now I went again because I got another dress that was the exact same and I mean it's the same dress as the one I took in the previous month that they charged me $70. I know my guy would charge me half the price but I didn't have the time to go to him. So whatever I'll pay $70. But this new girl said it would be $120 I'm like uh no I just got one done here last month for $70. She said no because it has lining. I explained that it's the exact same dress. I then told the girl that I did the transaction with prior and she said no it's different this one has lining. I'm like the other one did too. That's why you charged me $70 for it. They wanted me to leave it to ask a manager and I'm like no I don't have time nor want you to hold my dress. They should be able to call their manager and get an answer right away. Not hold your clothing. Anyways I wasn't going to leave it. I went to another local alterations shop and they are charging me $60. That's half the price as this place. It's sad because when I lived here before I would take all my stuff and they were very reasonable. I would refer everyone to them. But since I've moved back I've had 2 really bad experiences of them trying to rip me off. They don't have clear prices and try to size you up and think you'll just pay whatever. They also use safety pins to mark your clothes which damages most materials especially on my dresses. The alterations place I took my dress to was shocked they used that on my dress. Anyways I will never use them again and will make sure I tell all my friends and family not to either. They use to be fair and good but now they think they can charge whatever they want and I believe in fair pricing not price gouging read more

I love, love this place. Being 5' tall, and having a daughter whose also 5 ' tall we needed a lot of hemming. This is the place that did every pant and prom dress. Time frame is better than I expected. But the sooner you get them in the sooner you'll have them to wear. They also offer faster service for a small fee, check with them. The staff is always knowledgeable and kind. They are the experts. They are also awesome with men's clothes, especially denim! read more

I took an evening gown to have it hemmed ! The seamstress said she could not hemmed the beading which was in the back. She did a terrible job with my dress !!! I could've done better with a blindfold old !! She also didn't iron the hem flat !! Lousy lousy work !! She charged me $70 for a terrible job . She's no seamstress who takes pride in her work!! It cost less than $5 to hem my son's baseball pants here! The only drawback was it took 3-4 days to get the pants back. Great work on all alterations I've brought here!! I've had them alter my suits (jackets and slacks), hemmed jeans and dresses, and adjust straps on sundresses. Most recently, they hemmed a gown for a gala for my teen daughter and did a fabulous job. The dress was satin with several layers in the skirt, and it turned out great! And they were able to do it in just a few days because we didn't find a dress until the last minute. Prices are appropriate for the good work they do. My husband recommended this place to me because he's had many pairs of jeans hemmed here (and only for around $5!) I've been here a few times myself, mostly for bridesmaid dresses. I hadn't been in at least 5 years but I went back last week for another bridesmaid dress. This time I needed both a hem and some tailoring around the shoulders. First of all, I was able to walk in without an appointment and was immediately helped. The woman who helped me listened to what I needed and made sure I was happy with the alternation plans before pinning and making the chalk marks. She was very nice and I felt comfortable. I was surprised when she said I could pick up anytime after 4 on Friday. It was already Tuesday so I misunderstood and asked if she meant next week. Nope! She meant the Friday that was only 3 days away! For a bridesmaid dress! Apparently they do all the alterations on-site which is why it's so quick. That's also comforting to know, because it means your garments can't get lost during shipping. I'm guessing that also helps keep costs down because it was only $100 ($75 for the hem which involved two layers of material, and $25 for the shoulders). It's also a very nice-looking place. Based on the interior, I would expect that looks like that to cost twice what it actually did. When I picked up, I was helped immediately again, and the dress was ready for me. I had already paid during the first visit so I was in and out in less than a minute. I tried the dress on when I got home as it was perfect! I had forgotten just how quick and affordable Original Hems Studio is. Now that I remember, I'm going to stop being lazy and start getting more alterations done here. No more walking on my jeans or needing sky-high shoes for dresses! read more

My friend's mom swears that this place is the best to tailor your clothes. The staff is pretty nice and professional. The inside is very cool and Hollywood-esque. The waiting room chairs are super comfy. They used to have these annoying trendy chairs made of wire that sucked. But now they're different chairs that rock back and forth and super comfy. As far as I've seen, they do a good job and followed instructions clearly. Prices are reasonable and they definitely recommend trying on your clothes to make sure they fit. They have fancy fitting rooms for the customer. They also always have parking, which is always a plus. And it's next to Snooty Fox and Baja Fresh which are both delicious. read more

I've been coming and referring people here for over 10 years and have spent over $1,000 getting everything from jeans to full suits hemmed/altered. They're the cheapest around and do a decent job on basic alterations. FYI, I would never bring my suits and dress shirts here again as they don't do a clean job, but that's a different discussion. There seems to be newer management (I'm not sure as of when as I don't come here that often anymore). It seems to be now run by an older lady, I believe her name is Talin, which is very rude and has terrible customer service!! I had 2 pants hemmed here recently and didn't try them on until several weeks after having them picked up. Between being out of town for work and honestly forgetting about them, I finally got a chance to try them on, which is when I noticed one of them is still way too long. I just brought the pants back here to get fixed and tapered, along with some other pants, and the owner/manager (Talin) first said these were never hemmed and that they look original. I informed her again that I got them hemmed with another pair of jeans a little while back. When I got to the register to pay for everything, she said she'll be charging me again since it's been a few weeks past the "1 month policy", which is no where to be found by the way. I told her that was ridiculous as it hasn't been that long past and the pants are clearly brand new. Especially since she herself said these pants don't even look hemmed. Long story short, I will never be returning here again and she has lost my business/referrals all over $5.95. read more
