Have been there many times. Not a big fan of their omelettes and regular pancakes, but i love their Dutch Apple and the garden Dutch baby. This is what we always get there. The other day, I decided to try the big German, and I have to admit it is my second favorite to Dutch Apple. It was delicious! Don't like the combination with lemon, so I'm glad they bring it on a separate plate. Powdered sugar works the best, also a touch of maple syrup (which, they always bring warm). Not an issue for me to eat the entire pancake, I agree, it's huge but very thin. I could easily eat 1,5 of it. The only wish I have is to bring back the Santa Fe Dutch baby. 30-40m wait on a Sunday morning. They don't take reservations, and you have to stand in line, but the portions are generous for the price, and our server was very nice. They list calorie counts next to the dishes, which is bracing. Oddly, the Corn Beef Hash was only about 600 calories - the least - while the Big German was over 1400 calories - on the upper end. This place is ridiculous. Ridiculously delicious. The atmosphere is totally breakfast joint, but the food is a fancy/hippie hybrid and its perfection. The omelettes are baked instead of fried and it creates these amazing fluffy egg miracles that I can not seem to stop thinking about. I'm told there is nothing that isn't amazing on their menu, and I believe it. The negative-the parking lot is small and I can see how parking could be a struggle during peak times. Im under the impression that the place jams out on the weekend, and I have no idea where all those people park. It was also kind of expensive. For 2 omelettes we paid ~$45, which is a boatload if money for some veggies and eggs. But it was paid for by work and we loved it, so I'm not too upset. This used to be my favorite breakfast spot. I haven't been here for years but decided to come since we were in the area. This place is popular so there seems to always be a wait. We came during a weekday close to noon and it was packed. My favorite breakfast of all time has to be the corned beef has with a side of pancakes all due to Pancake House. Now, I'm basically ordering that everywhere. Although I always want to try the Dutch baby here, I revert back to my all time favorite corned beef. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe or if I'm mistaken but I was disappointed that my corned beef has was mostly hash!! Where's the corned beef?? It was small little pieces hidden among mounds of potato. Although it was still good but the lack of corned beef made it very disappointing. My husband and I both ordered the same and his was mostly potato as well. The pancakes were fluffy and buttery as usual. I still have very fond memories of this place so I'm hoping and going to assume this was a fluke. I would've probably rated my experience this time a 3.5 due to the lack of corned beef. Where to even start with this restaurant. I have been coming to this location since I was a little kid which I'm 27 now so this place is beyond nostalgic for me. Great breakfast place my go to item here would be the 49er flapjacks(pancakes).There is something for any breakfast lover here though. Best breakfast in Oakland County by far. They don't do wait times, they just have everyone wait in line for a table. It might look slow at first but we started at the door and were seated in 15 minutes. Not bad at all. The coffee is from Cadillac Coffee Company - very fresh and not your standard cheap diner coffee. The omelets are definitely the best deal - 10.50 for a HUGE omelet and choice of 3 pancakes or toast/bagel/potatoes. Probably 1,400 calories worth of food (They mark it on every menu item for you calorie counters out there). I couldn't even finish. It did take awhile since it was busy. I wouldn't come here for quick breakfast, so set aside 1.5 hour for the whole experience on a Saturday or Sunday. Overall service was great and our server was very friendly. The omelettes come out baked - three eggs with a nice crust, and probably weigh as much as a small baby. Three pancakes on the side it enough for one person's entire food supply for a day. The Dutch Babies are really cool - they're basically big flour bowls that you can fill up with fruit or veggies. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get. I ordered the potato pancakes, which were actually a little disappointing; the little medallions were overly greasy, and rather flavourless. Every Birthday and Anniversary we start our day with Breakfast at this OHOP location. Food is always good and service was great EXCEPT for today. They declined the booth that had become available due to sunlight on the table. We happily took this table. After we ordered the automatic blinds began to lower. We asked why as we "The CUSTOMERS" were enjoying the sunlight. Eventually the blinds were raised. Next thing , I see the woman I assume was in charge lower the blinds again. Not understanding why my wife asked jordan (we later got the name) why we can't have sunlight while we eat . She goes on to tell us that during the daytime the blinds are to be down , which is BS because we've been there numerous times and the blinds were up or we had them raised. Also , they close daily at 4pm so they are only open in the day . She goes on to tell us that if someone asked them to be down they are down and not going back up . Which is it jordan? There was only one other table directly in the sunlight, we were there before them and we were there after them . Hate when people play the race card but I'm opening my deck. The other booth in the light had people that looked more like jordan. The Food was still good but the treatment we received on our anniversary was ridiculously out of the norm for this place . jordan if she is the manager needs a course in customer service. I got an early start to my day and was finished by 10 am so why not meet for breakfast? I was coming from West Bloomfield, so, since I have never been here he suggested it and that's where we went. The location was easy to find and the parking lot was a total plus! There is even overflow parking across the street. I walked in and it was pretty busy. I was surprised because it's a Weds morning. Luckily he already had a booth. I sat down and had a nice cup of coffee. It was delicious coffee. I'm pretty low maintenance, and a good cup of coffee makes me very happy. Looking over the menu, they had quite a selection. Some very unique dishes too. I was torn between banana pancakes and chocolate chip, so I asked if I could have banana chocolate chip pancakes. She said absolutely, and I was super happy. The food was served quickly and hot. The portion size was huge! There was also a huge serving of real whipped cream. He ordered a Dutch baby, which was quite unique. It was sort of a quich, or ...Chicago style pizza...you have to see it to understand. The bill came to about $31 for two people to eat, and coffee and tea(before tip).. That's a bit hefty, but the serving sized were enormous. (see pics). The quality of the food was very good. Every time I see this place it is always busy. Especially on the weekends, I see a packed parking lot and people out the door. Some friends and I were free for some lunch around 12PM on a Thursday and I have been really wanting to see what the hype was all about. Our party of 4 was told that there was about a 20-minute wait. The restaurant wasn't too busy but I presumed they were probably short-staffed. Before I even get started, I would like to say everyone who worked there was very nice and provided premium service asking if we needed anything and even checking to make sure our beverages were full. This was very much appreciated. The menu is pretty standard for a breakfast place which was exactly what we were looking for. I ended up ordering a meat omelet which comes with 3 buttermilk pancakes. Once I got the omelet I was kinda shocked as it was huge and looked pretty interesting. The food was pretty average but It did hit the spot. I don't think that I would order the omelet again. This is a solid breakfast spot with a nice mom-and-pop feel. I don't think that I would wait crazy long for food at this place and that is one factor that would deter me from coming back. read more
