Santa clause wearing a hat saying make American what happened to Santa original Hat ???

So I'm walking up the block, and I notice that the local pizzeria has Santa Claus spray-painted on their storefront wearing a red MAGA hat that says "Make America Great Again," along with something mentioning "Zohran"--which I don't even know what that is. But my question is: when did politics start crossing paths with restaurants? I always thought businesses were supposed to remain neutral. I stopped going to that pizzeria even though I'd been going there since I was a young girl. The turning point was when I spoke to the owner and he openly told me he was voting for Trump because he didn't want the minimum wage to go up. He said he didn't want to pay his workers any more money. That disappointed me deeply. The way the world is right now--everything going up except our pay--you would think a business owner would want to take care of their employees. If you want people to work well, you have to treat them well. I was very disappointed in the pizzeria, in his attitude, and honestly surprised by his stance, especially with him also being a man. You would expect someone from a marginalized group to be sensitive to certain issues. But clearly, that wasn't the case. He will never get my business again.

Supposed to be a veggie pizza with some kind of meat on it did not like it at all

Kinda disgusted with them TODAY. My son went and got some slices 2 were with sausage and two were supp osed to be veggie. Didn't like the presentation of the sausage and the veggie was not good at all. I was so hyped about getting thia all week and the veggie had some type of meet on it I gave it to my dog because she eats anything and I couldn't describe it SMH

I stopped by here for lunch and ended up getting a couple of square slices. I thought they were ok and nothing great. The crust had a nice crunch to it. It's pizza but nothing special. Cash only. The place is clean and there is plenty of seating.

This Pizza shop is a neighborhood staple. It's been around since my childhood. This is the go to pizza spot I'm Canarsie. There's metered parking available and it's accessible by MTA public transportation nearby. The service is quick they'll greet you and get your order right all the time. It's a family dinner business too. I usually get my pizza to go. The pizza is very good. The sauce is tasty and robust. The crust is thin and the pizza has an overall great traditional NY flavor to it. Check out this spot when you're in the area

This is your neighborhood pizzeria with tons of history and a gem to those who grew up in the area. I LOVE pizza and this is Babes' favorite spot to order pizza from in Canarsie. So I'm a fan of the garlic knots and artificial "pineapple drink" which always hit the spot for me. Unfortunately, everything else isn't as consistently good. Solid slices with decent sauce and a good amount of cheese but always taste like they are missing something. If you are in the area, have extra cash to spare and want to seat down for a quick slice then definitely stop by. The service is prompt. Price point is on the high side for a pizzeria. I will be back and continue to try something new in hopes that something on the menu will truly knocked my socks off.

The best damn Sicilian I have ever had

Every time my travels bring me to Canarsie in Brooklyn I make it a point to stop by Original Pizza of Canarsie. It is by far the best pizza around. I hear of places that claim to have the best pizza and after I try them I realize nobody beats this place. But forget about the pizza for a minute, the Sicilian and the grandma slices are even better. They are both so good you can eat the whole pie. The Sicilian is flaky and crunchy and has the best crust I have ever had. Not the big wad of dough that you get in most places. Every time I come I'm torn between the two, so I have to get both. They are stupendous!

My husband grew up eating this pizza as a child. We love returning for slices and reminiscing about his youth growing up in Canarasie. We have now taken both of our sons back whenever we return for a trip to explore the city. The neighborhood has changed but it's awesome to see this pizzeria thriving all these years. It's honestly a gem and true NYC-style pizza. Their freshly made mozzarella and marinara are the best

So this is def the best pizza in Canarsie. I've been coming here for over 10 years. The slices have been pretty consistent. A tiny bit too oily for me but I still eat it. The garlic knots are yummy. They're always busy but the wait time isnt bad. Plenty of seats and tables to choose from if you want to dine in.

This place is cash only. I was in the neighborhood for the weekend and my friend told me about the chicken rolls here. Really tasty pockets of chicken parm+ cheese with good flavors. The prices and menu items they have online are not reflected in the store, so coming in, you might not get what you expect. Call ahead. Kind of expensive for what it is, but I enjoyed the pizza dough and the cheese.

Cash only, BYOB (with rules depending on how many people), and a time limit on the table. Know what you want when you sit down. Menu is easy, pizza, calzones, sometimes pasta. Simple. Is it worth waiting in line for - maybe - if you have 2-3 hours free and nothing else to do and it's a nice day, sure. But honestly can't say I am running back to do it again. Waiting in line to get added to a waitlist that still doesn't always guarantee you will sit down to eat at the requested time - we were seated 40 mins after checking in (unusually long, never had more then 20 mins or so in past visits) but still a strange system, keeps the spot exclusive I'd guess. Have visited several times and always have had a good meal and the prices are very fair. Seating is not super comfortable and they pack you in for real, the restaurant is also unnecessarily dark and loud - But not in a bad way? I can't explain it but the very delicious pizza makes up for the weird ambiance and all the rules... definitely something to experience atleast once.

I've eaten here, come to the Bushwick Block Party to see Action Bronson perform, and spent enough time around Tiki Disco to associate the place with a particularly inventive, free-spirited period in the neighborhood. The dining area still has that wonderfully idiosyncratic character: exposed beams, communal tables, mismatched details, and an open kitchen turning out genuinely excellent pizza. What impresses me most is how naturally Roberta's became more than a restaurant. Food, music, parties, outdoor spaces, and an extraordinary mix of people all seemed to converge here, giving the place a cultural gravity that could never have been designed by committee. It remains one of those places that instantly takes me back to my bachelor years and an especially fun chapter of my time in the city, when Bushwick felt endlessly creative, and Roberta's seemed to sit comfortably at its center. Sending my highest recommendation!

When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. Brooklyn DOP is a prime example of what happens when a pandemic lockdown, a dough obsession, and an…read moreinability to sit still all collide. We visited as a stop on Scott's Pizza Bus Tour, which meant we were actively evaluating it against some of the best pizza in the city. Evaluating pizza on a tour is tricky because excellence becomes relative when you are eating multiple high-end pies in a single afternoon. According to Scott, Brooklyn DOP began in founder Thomas Ardito's apartment during the 2020 lockdowns. With his primary work on pause, he started baking pizza and selling pies through Instagram to pay his rent. People kept ordering. His friend Jason D'Amelio joined the effort, and what started as an apartment project turned into pop-ups and eventually a brick-and-mortar shop on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. That is a considerably more compelling origin story than a corporate franchise business plan. The setup in Park Slope includes a quiet back courtyard, which offered a comfortable spot for our group to sit, eat, and recover between stops. It feels relaxed and distinctly Brooklyn without trying too hard to remind you where you are. The pizza itself is very good. The crust strikes a proper balance between a crisp bottom and a chewy interior. The toppings are handled with care, from the crushed tomatoes to the fresh mozzarella. This is dough crafted by people who take fermentation seriously rather than relying on pre-packaged shortcuts. On its own merits, the pizza is a solid 4.5 stars. Unfortunately for Brooklyn DOP, it was competing on a tour against places operating on another plane. It is an excellent pie, but it was not the single slice that caused the entire tour to fall silent in collective awe. Still, that is an aggressive standard to hold against any local shop. Brooklyn DOP offers a great courtyard, a serious approach to dough, and a standout product. Landing just shy of five stars says far more about the sheer volume of elite pizza we ate that day than it does about the shop itself. Four stars. And if you are not spending the afternoon riding around New York with Scott Wiener eating pizza at some of the finest pizza joints the 5 boroughs have to offer, you can probably bump that half-star back up.
