A neighborhood staple, Original's Pizza has been around as long as I can remember. Located literally a short walk away, this place makes arguably the best pizza around.. Man, I've had a lot of delicious pizzas, but this place makes pizza that takes the cake! ...or pie A great neighborhood staple that I hope never goes away! It is a very but sized location in comparison to other pizzerias. Original's Pizza is bar none and I have to look at people like they have three heads when they tell me they don't think it's good or its overrated! It is what it is! Good stuff! Today, I decided to take the live of my lie aka my son AMIR for a slice or two. I recall how I used to put him into pizza and he never wanted to eat it. One viewing of TMNT and he then becomes hooked! Go figure! In any case he used to be a one slice kind of guy. He's finally graduated to two slices! I love this kid! Only person I can love unconditionally! He's never ever hurt me nor will he ever hurt me unlike others who can be plagued by jealousy and insecurity so much they cost themselves a good thing. NY Style pizza FTW! Tried two pizza locations during my visit and this one was my fave. It was the right blend of crust, sauce and cheese! We opted for a cheese pie and a huge calzone prepared with mozarella cheese, ricotta and pepperoni (added for $1 more). The calzone was incredibly cheesy and delicious! Was definitely pleased with "Original Pizza" and as we were getting ready to leave, I spotted the sign for italian ices! There was no way I could pass on italian ices while visiting NY! I grew up on the Original Pizza in Old Mill Basin, so when I was in the area to visit a few places, I decided to stop by the original Original. The inside of the place is as others said, quite data with the neon lights and all. However, I did like the pizza clock they had. For some stupid reason, all the Original places use Polly-O mozzarella on their pies (yea, I know). However, their supreme round and sicilian each use a homemade mozzarella, homemade sauce, spices, and as you could expect are generally superior in every way to the normal slices. This is the way to go. So I got a round supreme reheat and a couple of garlic knots and sat down. The garlic knots were pretty good, a little too heavy on the garlic though but hell its in the name so what do you expect? The slice was solid; the sauce was tangy and sweet, the mozzarella was pretty good, and the crust could've used some salt and was a little hard, but was otherwise good. Some signs of quality were that the underskirt of the crust had a nice leopard spotting, and the outer rim had a nice hole structure. The main problem was that I hadn't gotten a slice fresh, and I've seen these problems and the corrected result at their Old MIll Basin location. However it is what it is, and although the overall result was solid, it coud've been balanced a little better. Regardless, if you're in the area I would reccomend giving it a shot and trying to snag a fresh slice. At least its very affordable, and they do know how to make a good pizza here. read more

I would rate the pizza here there and a half stars. I had a regular slice with my usual fixings (red chili flakes and granulated garlic). The crust was good, but a little too doughy for my liking. There wasn't much of a crisp or char. The sauce was good - no complaints there. I felt there was a little too much cheese and that it was too gooey. Each bite had long, runny strings of gooey cheese; I know some folks prefer this, but I do not. The pizzeria is quite spacious with plenty of seating. There is ample parking on Avenue L. read more

A Canarsie staple. This spot probably shares its life essence with the very earth Canarsie stands on. Probably the best pizza for the next few square miles. I would just stick to the pizza however. The Sicilian slices are to DIE for. Nice crust around the edges, soft and nicely baked throughout, sweet tomato sauce and just perfect... If I were you wouldn't stretch my neck to come here cause the L train be bugging and will make you its bitch. But if you escape the sinister clutches of the L train and end up in Canarsie for some unknown reason, I wouldn't hesitate to get a slice. read more

This place has been around for what seems like FOREVER and never disappoints! I always get pies delivered and they're always fresh, so the delivery guys are really on top of their game. The owner also added some delicious eats to their menu like buffalo wings since this is becoming a more popular dish at pizzerias all over. This Originals is still as good as it was decades ago - you'll find yourself stopping in Canarsie if you're in transit living somewhere else. Local and Original, like the name. I've only eaten here about 3 times since I've moved to Canarsie. And I must say, the pizza still has that authentic New York taste to it! At the suggestion of 2 people, I decided to order 2 pies from Originals for my daughters sleepover. I'm new to the Canarsie area and the only pizza I've ordered was from Pizza Hut. I wanted New York pizza so I ordered from here. The price of a large pie initially caught me off guard. $17 for a plain pizza? I pay less than that in Brooklyn Heights... But I figured I had heard so many good things about this pizza, I'd try it anyway. The pizza arrived in about 45 minutes. And it was disgusting!!!! I have a weakness for New York pizza. I can never eat one slice. I often find myself devouring 3 slices. I barely made it thru the one slice from Originals and I wasn't even tempted to have another. Just bad. I'm your typical NY pizza snob/lover and my absolute favorite tried-and-true NY pizzeria is in out-of-the-way, not -at-all-exciting Canarsie, Brooklyn. My grandma lives here, and we go to Original's every time we visit her. It's not in the least bit fancy, but the crust is perfect, thin and crisp, never charred, the sauce is a bit tangy, not overly sweet, the cheese is fresh, salty and gooey, not rubbery or slick. The staff treats my grandma like she's their grandma, which is always a good thing. Original's is a pretty big and very clean establishment, unlike many of your standard pizza joints-- this place is a standout in more ways than one. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going to Canarsie just for a slice of pizza, but if you're passing through, or visiting your grandma, don't miss it. read more

This pizza place been around for years. I use to come here as a child, teenager and know an adult. The pizza is always fresh and good. I came here for just a quick slice. And i will be back again. There rice balls are very delicious. Although i did not have one this visit. I feel the need to mention the great taste of the rice balls. As a recent transplant to Canarsie (and Brooklyn, period) I've had to rely on Yelp reviews to inform basically all my decisions, and I am so glad that the Yelp-powers-that-be delivered me to this glorious pizza delivery joint. I have only experienced Original Pizza for delivery, but its been delicious and timely. The ingredients are clearly quality and the resulting pizza is the best I've ever had. The cheese and vegetarian are both great. The crust is so crunchy, which I love, but the pizza is kinda greasy. It's a very old-school and no-frills spot. There's plenty of seating in here. Mama Mia that's good pizza!!!! Had cheese pizza, rice balls, garlic twists and the pepperoni twist, all were awesome. True authentic New York pizza it will not disappoint. My first word was "Pizza". I kid you not, it really was. It was almost certainly because my parents and grandparents consistently fed me the delicious pizza from Original Pizza. The crust is always somewhat crunchy, but never burned. The sauce is definitely among the best pizza sauces around. I use suspect that they make the sauce themselves. In reality its more likely that they just add spices to some high quality purchased sauce. Whatever the secret is, the pizza from Original tastes so much better than any other pizza I have ever eaten. This includes pizzerias in most of the states on the east coast. I lived in Boston for a while and even the best of boston (Regina's PIzza) isn't even close. I personally find that their sicilian slice is what sets this place out from all the others. There is something in it that just tastes amazing. I've brought friends to Original for the first time and they agree! I haven't lived in Canarsie in 10 years already, but when I do manage to get down there I can safely say that the pizza tastes EXACTLY like it did 20 years ago! I remember when this place opened and I have been coming here ever since. I'm a purist and enjoy a slice of regular pizza and a slice of Square. No toppings. I didn't grow up with toppings just plain cheese for me. The garlic knots are a rare treat for me. The service is top notch. I also love the pictures of Old Canarsie on the walls. read more

Really great pizza! I visit here often. Both locations are very professional and very friendly. I'm grateful for their late closing time. The chicken parmigiana roll is really really good and have been eating them from here for years!! The lemonade tastes great also.
