Mushroom burger & fries
Jennifer S.

I had family in town celebrating my daughter & niece's high school graduation. It was during the ceremony when people started asking what the plans were afterwards. Many had driven in that day, but our plans were focused on planning a party the next day. In the moment I made a command decision and called to make a group reservation for 15 to meet for a 9:15 pm dinner. We scooted out of the ceremony to beat the crowd and traffic, and made it just in time. I got a confirmation call as I pulled into the parking lot and was welcomed with our tables ready. Our server congratulated my niece on her graduation and was gracious and welcoming to the family. We added another table when my daughter and her friends arrived. The restaurant closed while we were there, but we were never asked to rush or pushed out. Many thinks to the entire staff; management, servers and crew who took exceptional care of us during this rare occasion that we were able to enjoy one another's company and our guests of honors accomplishment!

I was greeted by a very friendly server named Logan, he showed me to a booth, and let me settle in. After a few moments he came back with some fresh rolls and took my drink order, I opted for a glass of the house Pinot Noir. They have a nice varied menu and also offer some Chef specials. I decided on the Parmesan Crusted Halibut as my entree and a Ceaser salad to start. The salad arrived quickly and looked very good, I was informed that they had just made fresh croutons. After finishing my salad, which was very good the croutons were light and crispy, my dinner arrived. The overall presentation was excellent, the potatoes had a nice flavor and went well with the fish and asparagus. The halibut was cooked just right and the crust was perfect. Overall the meal was exceptionally delicious. I will make an effort to to come back and try more of the menu. I was informed that Saturday evening is a good time to stop in as they have live music. Highly recommended for a nice dinner with spouse, friends or work associates.

3/5 Stars Came here with a triathlon club group of 25+…read morepeople. Now, you'd think a restaurant hosting a group of endurance athletes would be prepared for a marathon, but service-wise, this was more like a relay race where the baton got dropped immediately. Our poor waiter was running around like a headless chicken the entire night. Hydration is key for triathletes, but finding a water refill here turned into an absolute heroic quest. I practically needed a GPS, a compass, and a hydration pack just to self-serve a glass of water. As for the food: * Sirloin Steak (Mine): Absolutely perfect. Chef's kiss. * Steak Salad (My Girlfriend's): We asked for medium, but it arrived a bit on the rare side. Still edible, but definitely had a little too much "life" left in it. * Our Teammate's Culinary Misadventure: One guy in our group had the absolute worst luck--or the kitchen had a personal vendetta against him. He ordered a steak medium, and it came out cooked to hockey-puck well done. Naturally, he didn't want to play Russian roulette with another steak, so he pivoted to Fish & Chips. It arrives, he takes a bite, and the fish is still cold in the middle! At that point, we weren't sure if it was bad luck or if he secretly owed the chef money. The Verdict: The potential for great food is definitely there (my steak proved it!), but Chira's was completely unprepared for a large crowd. If you're coming with a big party, maybe pack your own water bottle and pray the kitchen roulette favors your table!

Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on.

The inside atmosphere is sports bar fabulous plenty of seating for groups or couples. We shared a juicy hazy IPA and an order of scotch eggs while sitting on the patio, which is shaded and comfortable with both picnic tables and bar-top seating. I was thrilled to find that the scotch eggs were not only delicious but also authentically prepared. The yolk was soft and slightly runny, and the crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful. This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back!

The house-made tartar and fry sauces were very good. A full house kept the staff busy, but they were still attentive and friendly. A band was about four songs into their set when I left. The house sound system does a great job of making sure everyone can hear the band, but the overall noise level was such that folks had to shout to have a conversation. They do post an entertainment schedule, so if you go there to visit with friends, do it when there are no bands playing. From prior experience, I highly recommend the "Dave's Insane" sandwich.

After getting blindsided by a sad little episode over at In-N-Out, I found myself doing what any…read morereasonable grown man would do... retreating to Outback Steakhouse - Kaiser Station like it was a sanctuary for the wounded and the hungry. Now I didn't walk in there with high hopes. No sir. I walked in like a man who just got stood up by his own cheeseburger. Expectations were low... borderline underground. But then bam. Steak comes out like it's got something to prove. Cooked just right, like somebody in that kitchen actually gives a damn. Seafood? Sitting there warm and proper, not acting like it just woke up from a nap. And those fries hot. Not "kinda warm if you believe hard enough" I'm talking honest-to-God hot. Service? Smooth. The kind of smooth where you don't even notice it at first. Next thing you know, your drink's full, your table's clean, and your mood's done a complete 180. And the place itself clean, sharp, even the bathrooms looked like they had a little pride in themselves. That's how you know you're somewhere decent. Ain't nobody faking clean bathrooms. Walking out, I had that rare feeling... like maybe the universe owed me one and finally paid up. Outback didn't just fix dinner it restored a little faith in the whole going-out-to-eat operation. And that, my friend, is what I call a comeback story with steak.
