We have been going to Orsay for years now and we went last night for New Years. The food is beyond phenomenal, until I went there I was the biggest pork chop hater around. They have a 2 1/2 inch pork chop that is out of this world with a mustard seed sauce that I would put on everything including my cornflakes. The staff is very professional with very bubbly personalities. Complimentary champagne was passed out and I honestly can not think of a place I would rather spend New Years. If you have the chance to go somewhere new for dinner this place is worth the drive. The steak tar tar is so perfect that I have ordered it every time to start out our meal. Born and raised in NY, I was spoiled with the variety and level of restaurants. Orsay is by far a restaurant that has the quality and uniqueness you see in premier big city restaurants. I've only been once for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic. I had the eggs benedict, a cheese selection (which came with crostini, homemade preserves and truffle oil). Everything was good. My husband had the omelet which he said was delicious. When you go to most places & they serve you "greens" or a "salad" with your brunch items- they are just dressed up lettuce. The dressing that these greens were tossed in was wonderful. I ate quite a bit of it, as did my husband. The other 2 people with me ate the special which was something with lobster or mussels. Everything was great. Service was great. It does get a little noisy when it's full but that happens with most restaurants when they get busy. As a side note, yes it's expensive but it is a finer dining experience than a chain. I live in Fernandina and the places here that serve eggs bene & similar menus are more expensive and the serving sizes are much smaller. This was my first visit to Orsay. I had the lobster pot pie and my wife had the duck. The lobster was pretty tasty along with lobster reduction sauce. The biscuit was a bit salty and the consistency was alittle off. My wife thought the duck was delicious, crispy skin and juicy on the inside. Her only complaint was the duck was paired with a bean casserole which was very salty and added to the heaviness of the dish. We finished our meal with a trio of sorbet, it was outstanding! It was much needed from all the salt. I do have to say the service and ambience is second to none. I think are dish choices was a little off and I regret not engaging our waitress a little more. I have dinner at Orsay maybe once a month and can't rave about it enough. The restaurant is very inviting and the staff is always so kind. Jason Eddy runs a tight ship and he always makes sure we are well taken care of. The food is excellent, and I've never had a bad experience with a server. Their drink menu is one of the best in the city and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. The French pear martini is delicious and the Eastbound & Down is quite popular with the gentlemen. Regardless of how full I am, I always order their ice cream for dessert and sometimes take a pint home. read more

Spent a night in Jacksonville and got to eat at Orsay. Service was excellent and waitress was sweet and friendly. They make the best old fashioned cocktails! I want to give this place 5 stars but there were a few things I was just not happy about. BAD: They charge you an "up charge" for every thing without any notice. I ordered a margarita. When I received the bill there was a charge for the liquor used then a separate charge for the juice/mix. WTF! Isn't that how you make a margarita?? Tequila plus lime juice etc..... Plus they didn't have the tequila I wanted so I had to settle for some brand I had never heard of. I wanted a different side instead of what came with my meal. That was an "up charge." In short one margarita in a little scotch glass and black hog farm chicken meal cost me almost 50 bucks! That is ridiculous! First time here with my son and wife. Recommended by my son because he knew owner. Turned out to be the best idea. We had Sunday brunch and the food was so delicious and free flowing mimosas weren't bad either. Everybody bought something different to share with other. Wonderful dinner with fantastic service. Celebrated our Anniversary with dinner at Orsay. Things kicked off with a happy anniversary complimentary champagne. We did 1/2 dozen oysters. They had a nice variety to select from east and west coast. Martinis were also very good- French Pear (nice sweetness but not too sweet) and Blood Orange (great citrus tartness that did not overpower the vodka) Dinner: filet and pork chop. Both were fantastic. The nice crust they get on their meat provides wonderful flavor. The temperatures were spot on. I LOVE the sprout/mushroom/bacon side and the creamy flavorful mash potatoes. Husband was presently surprised he enjoyed his pork chop and sides as much as he did. Wonderful apple braised cabbage had a nice amount of pepper. Roasted fingerling potatoes were good. The shock for him is how much he liked the mustard sauce. Deserts: we tried the tower taking the majority home. Great service, great food and really a wonderful evening. Only negative, if there is one, parking is a bit challenging finding a spot. read more

Great location. Parking is difficult in this area. This restaurant is obviously prospering from location, because it is not the food or service. Our server was very nice, however he arrived at the table and interrupted, not very observant.Just unprofessional. I do not know which I object to more , the unimpressive food or untrained staff. OH YEAH, I remember, THE PRICE! Insane pricing for a plate full of mainly carbs. Whomever wrote the menu is the only star of this restaurant. We've tried Orsay a few times and it's been a great experience each time. The last time we dined here, we found out that they have wonderful brunch and happy hour offerings. Regretfully, you cannot find this info on their website or Facebook page. So, we've never gone back for these options. The waiters provide unobtrusive service, which is ideal. They're there when you need them and everything happens quite seamlessly when you're not looking. The wine selection is great, but pricey, just like the menu. I've ordered steak, fish, etc. and they've all been cooked perfectly. Food is fresh, well-seasoned, and the temperatures are always spot on. They hand you far too many menus upon arrival, but other than that, this is a don't miss dining experience. read more

Restaurant located in the Avondale area close to the historic Five Points in Jacksonville across from a laundry mat and convenience store. I went with a group of friends on a Saturday. evening . We waited about 30 minutes and had some drinks in the outdoor lounging area next to the parking lot. Got lucky and ended up having dinner outside as it was a prefect evening to do so. Everyone in our party decide to each get something different so we can try everything out and talk about the experience. Started with our appetizers of roasted oysters, escargots, and a sample tray of cheeses. I say the most fun part about the appetizers was taking the meat out of the snail shells. Everything we had was really good and I do recommend the escargot for anyone that is willing to try something new. As for our main meals we ordered mussels frites, lobster risotto, bouillabaisse, a duck dish and steak frites all which were really good. At the end of the meal the servers asked if we wanted desert but by then we were all full. I had to say that the service we had was top notch as they were very attentive and helpful in regards to navigating through the menu. I've had amazing dinners at Orsay, but I have to rave about their brunch. To eat this well on a Sunday morning might very well be a sin. To start off, their Bloody Mary is a work of art, and the Mimosas are the perfect ratio of Champagne to orange juice. I had the wild mushroom, spinach and Gruyere quiche which was silky perfection on a flaky crust. My hubby had to go for the duck confit hash, and he was a very happy man. But the real winner was our 5 year old daughter who ordered the Bourbon and orange French toast. As soon as it arrived at the table, the vanilla and maple aroma made our mouths water.
