This spot is my favorite sushi spot. Hands down. They have never messed up an order to go and every time surprise us with 'something on the house' which is generally edamame or ice cream. There American dream roll and Glen rock roll are superb. Every time we go there the food is perfect. They give you all the sauces, utensils, napkins when it's to go, you don't have to double check. I haven't had sushi this good in a very long time. I got the Fair Lawn Roll with avocado on top. We got steamed gyoza, and a spicy Kani roll with mango. Everything was fantastic. They gave us a complimentary seaweed salad and little scoop of ice cream which was SO YUMMY! They are so sweet in this place, on top of their game making sure you have everything you need and the atmosphere is very comfortable with positive energy. Parking was convenient it's right in the front of the restaurant. The prices are very affordable and fair for the quality of sushi. For the one special roll, regular roll & gyoza it came to $27. This is honestly a phenomenal place that I cannot believe my parents hid from me for so long! In a tiny, unassuming strip mall in Glen Rock lies a little sushi place that has the most heart I have seen in any restaurant. The place is small and cozy, and the atmosphere is warm. The waitress, Sophia, is the sweetest person and so genuine. We ordered a good assortment of food (but scarfed some of it down too fast to take photos). We ordered the seaweed salad and miso soup which were pretty standard fair but the presentation elevated the dish to something special (an orchid on top with the salad placed neatly in the center). The salmon skin salad I have never seen on a menu before and if you like salmon (and salmon skin) this is the dish for you. The delightfully crispy and fatty salmon skin strips and bits of fish are drizzled in a teriyaki-esque sauce on a bed of spaghetti-thin cucumber noodles. The fatty, crispy fish mixed with the sweet sauce and the freshness of the cucumber creates a sensational dish that hits all the right notes. We then were presented with the coconut shrimp. Not only was the presentation beautiful again, 3 decently large fresh cooked shrimp were coated in a crispy yet not greasy coconut coating that was fried to perfection and drizzled with a yummy sauce. The shrimp also had their tails already removed which shows the extra care given at this restaurant. We ordered the maple roll, which we learned is a crowd favorite and I can tell why. This roll is made without rice, with the base being a nice hearty portion of spicy tuna topped with 4 kinds of fish (salmon, tuna and some other fish I could not identify). If you don't really care for too much rice, this is the bang for your buck. This roll makes up for all those times you ordered sushi and it was mostly rice. They are so generous with the portion of fish in this dish it is incredible, and the fresh flavors of the fish get to shine through which is really great. We also ordered the salmon naruto which was expertly crafted and delicious with a generous portion of salmon in the middle of thinly-sliced cucumber. (Again, a low carb option). So, not only is the food here delicious but let me reiterate I have never had as good of service as I have had at this restaurant. I was treated like family, and I saw that Sophia and the restaurant take a genuine interest in those who come in or frequent the place. This review is long over due and I'm sorry that I haven't posted it until now. So in the past I did not give this place a favorable review. But the last few times that I have been here this place has greatly improved. I recently went again a week ago with a friend and it was very good. I ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer that also came with vegetable tempura - it was a large order and I just about finished it - it was superb. This might be the best hidden gem I have found in awhile. The sushi itself is so fresh and delicious but it's more than just that. We went for a late lunch and were welcomed with a small appetizer on the house. The sushi was delicious , one of the best in the area. My family and I visited OSaka for my birthday lunch a few months ago. I was hankering for sushi and we live in Middlesex County, so wasn't sure of any good sushi spots up north. We saw that OSaka was "hot and new" and had great reviews so far, so we gave it a try. I'm glad we did! I had called to order for pick up. I arrived earlier so it wasn't done by the time I got there however, they allowed me to sit down and they gave me a cup of water without me having to ask. This place has really good food, you don't have to stick to sushi you can get other Japanese conmonly serve dishes as well. The staff is very nice and they will always bring you a seaweed salad for appetizer even if you don't order it, it's actually on the house. Their green tea is really good too. We made reservations for 7:30 PM this past Friday which was the start of memorial day weekend. Keeping in mind I have never been here before and had no idea of how this place was set up I was surprised to find how tiny it was. What had initially bothered me was we had made a reservation for five, there really wasn't a lot of seating left over, so they offered us a booth that would normally sit 4 and to put a chair at the end for the 5th. I was rather upset considering we were celebrating my daughters Bday. I didn't want anybody sitting in the aisle where they would be constantly bumped into by servers and restaurant patrons.Fortunately this was not the case. The staff were very courteous and understanding even though I was visibly upset. I do want to put my apology here in writing as I may have overreacted a little. Anyway, the food was exceptional I could see why this place has such great reviews. What struck me the most was the amazing Variety of sushi combinations! My favorite by far was the Maple Roll, which was one of the two or three rolls that did not have rice. Again I will say the service was excellent the food came out quickly and was absolutely amazing and to boot they gave us a sweet little thank you gift for coming I suppose it's because I may have overreacted ha ha. Not very busy at 11:30; we were the only ones there. Nobody came in when we left at 12:15pm. The location is easy to get to. The dining area is clean with posters on the walls highlighting the sushi party plates they can create. Ordered the sashimi lunch with miso soup and salad. The soup was fine. The salad was oily especially when they served it with a ginger dressing. There was too much water at the bottom of the salad bowl. The appearance of the fish looked fresh with no smell. I have rated other sushi as 5 stars before and I must say that after eating here I may need to go back and adjust those reviews or ask Yelp if I can give OSaka 6 stars as a one time exception. I ordered the Tricolor #2 I believe it was called. You get 5 pieces of tuna, 5 pcs of salmon and 5 pcs of yellowtail. I hated giving any away but I had to make my family taste it because I just couldn't get over how great it was. We also tried the kani salad, an angel roll, chicken fried rice, fried oysters and egg rolls. Everything was just outstanding. I saw this place opened up and the first hint of a sushi craving i was sure to go. It is a small place but the decor is very nice. For my appetizer I got the tanijiuro soup and it was very good although they were a little conservative with the broth. It was just the right amount of spicy and the pork belly pieces were soft and flavorful. The rolls themselves were very fresh and delicious. The wall st. Roll was very good and the spicy salmon had actual pieces of fish instead of the mush most sushi places do. They also gave me and my sister complimentary green tea ice cream! This place was amazing across the board! The sushi was fresh and delicious. Whoever answered the phone was wonderful and very helpful. The entire order was ready in under 20 minutes and they included a free edamame! We had a miso and a shumai soup-both were delicious. THe kani salad was refreshing with shaved cucumber added. This is by far the best Sushi I have ever been to, and I'm comparing it to the top Sushi restaurants. I travel alot and had sushi in many places in the world but this restaurant takes them all. The chef is very creative but not in a way that feels forced, everything he does works. The "Maple" is my favorite, but recently the "satiya roll" took the lead. I've been to Osaka about a dozen times now and the food is delicious every single time. Not only that but the staff is super friendly and they've included things on the house like edamame or a drink with my to-go orders a few times which is always a very pleasant surprise. Funny how wonderful things happen. My wife and I stopped for gas in Glenrock right off of Rte 208 and across the street we saw a Japanese restaurant. We commented on how much we missed sushi since our spot in Oakland was closed. A few days later the kids, both home during COVID19, asked for sushi for lunch. I remembered the place we had seen a few days ago, Osaka Ryu and looked up the lunch special menu. It had everything and more you could want. We ordered a teriyaki chicken Bento box, California rolls, tuna, tempura chicken, sweet potato, spicy tuna, and eel avocado rolls! They were all excellent! Good sized portions, fresh, great presentation and affordable!!!...like $12.50 for the 3 rolls! Sophia, the manager was so nice! She was very attentive and so pleasant! Kind of torn about this place. Seems to be run by nice people with good service. Complimentary scoop of ice cream was a plus. The sushi tasted fresh. Soup and salad is pretty standard, what you'd find in any Japanese restaurants in the area. But, the restaurant smelled very unappetizing. Not sure how to describe it... over-bleached with a fishy smell? No good. Then two hours after eating the sushi, I developed a case of stomach problems that forced me to spend quality time with the toilet for the rest of the night. I can't say definitively it was the sushi, but that is what happened. When my body gets the courage to go to this restaurant again I will update my review. I consider this to be a better choice than AYCEs in the area (they're all gone down the drain in quality in recent years), but does not beat my perennial favorite, Sakura Bana. read more

Never came to NJ for Japanese food. My friend brought us here in a large group. Small place with no more than 10 tables, but was fall of people. This place was more popular than I expected! The food was great - very fresh materials and a variety of choices on sushi, sashimi, salad, and rice bowl. We even ordered a huge 'rainbow' set which looks amazing.... Everyone took photos on what we got. What's more crazy was that we finished them (mainly sushi and sashimi) all.... lol. I think I will visit more often if I live close by.
